FROM WASTE TOWN TO DOWNTOWN

North City was far from the most impressive metropolis on Earth, but it was still a bustling hive of activity. Despite its rather remote location, Lumenar had to marvel at just how busy it got during the day. She had never exactly been a fan of urban centers for that very reason, and Earthlings especially seemed to be in a constant rush to get around at speeds their bodies simply couldn’t take them. The amount of near-collisions she had seen as careless commuters tried to weave their way through rush-hour traffic was staggering. What was even more surprising was that this organized chaos seemed to work for them… somehow. Either way, she wasn’t about to spend her day contemplating or complaining about strange Earth customs. She was here for a reason. Ever since her recent fight in the Wastes had been interrupted by a would-be assailant, she had the urge to try and claim a rematch. But she’d also promised her previous adversary a drink after she’d stepped in to protect her against that very assailant.
It was a bit of a dilemma, but Lumenar decided that the only polite thing to do would be to offer the drink first, and then challenge the woman to a rematch. Going from fight to fight might not be seen as a particularly positive thing in this instance. To that end, she’d opted to try to set up a meeting downtown in North City, close to the Wastelands -- at least, close for someone able to fly at high speeds -- just outside one of the more sparsely populated bars in the city. She wasn’t exactly familiar with the bar scene here, so she opted to pick the one that had the least silly name she could find. The North City Alehouse, a rather simple establishment all things considered. She rested back against a “No Parking” sign just outside the front door as she waited.
Although she had made a real effort to look more like a proper Earthling today, wearing simple jeans, a tank top and practical, laced boots, those efforts were largely in vain as onlookers continued to look upon her with obvious suspicion. As she was, she looked perfectly like every other Earthling, except… she was still carrying around an outdated weapon. Two, in fact, as she had added a blunted sword for training alongside her proper blade. Earthlings could handle a wide variety of technological creations and animal-like citizens, but when it came to people lugging around weapons -- eyebrows were still raised. It was only natural.
Part of her doubted whether her former adversary would even be able to recognize her at this point, given her change of attire and the relative brevity of their first meeting. She lidded her eyes with a quiet sigh, beginning to consciously output some of her energy. It was subtle, not enough to disturb any passers-by who weren’t in the now, causing little more than a bit of a stronger breeze on that particular street. But it might just be enough to alert her would-be drinking partner of her location. And it gave her something to do while she was standing there.
