Welcome, veterans and newbies, boys and girls, and one and all, to the wondrous new world of
DRAGON BALL!
DRAGON BALL!
—★ WHAT'S THIS PLACE?
World of Dragon Ball is a roleplaying site that takes place thousands of years in the future of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Goku and co. have long passed for you to take the stage in this world we all hold near and dear. This site succeeds two very successful and enjoyable WODB RP sites, Resurrection and Souls respectively. We operate with brand new automated mechanics that haven't been seen on either of the prior incarnations of this site, allowing staff to redirect their attention to numerous other tasks that need to be run here.
—★ THE ABCs OF WOD
First things first, you must get the lay of the land here on World of Dragon Ball. The Rules thread is the first thing you should read, of course. Whether you read them or not, any violation of the rules here on WOD will be punished accordingly in the Warning Board.
Next, you've gotta know the world you're about to immerse a character in, right? Long past events are recorded in the ever so lengthy Background topic, though more will be added with the coming of new characters and their stories here. Note that this site still succeeds the events of two others, so there's quite a bit of reading to be had.
Next on the list of to-read threads comes the site mechanics. The core of Dragon Ball revolves around combat, and the workings of Player VS Player battles are all listed in the Combat Rules. All existing "base" techniques and their functions are listed in the Pre-Approved Techniques, though note that you still must apply for a new technique in the Technique Applications when you have the required power threshold to attain one.
Finally, XP or Experience Points are an automated gain used to buy items or gain Power Level for your character that is rewarded by automatic thread grading. You may convert it to PL in the XP ⇨ PL Converter, or buy all sorts of useful items for combat and RP in the XP Shop. While the exact formula is a staffer's secret, writing quality and word count are your foundation- though quality always will trump quantity. Other modifiers like gravity or weights are accounted for with gains as well. You'll get out what you put into your writing, long story short.
Please be advised that posting RP with your cellphones will not work with the automation. Desktop mode on your cellphone may work, but it may not. Cellphone posts where XP is lost will not be refunded or back-added, so please use a desktop computer when posting RP.
—★ CONSTRUCTING A CHARACTER
Now that you know the lore and rules of the road, it's time for you to enter the World of Dragon Ball with your very own character! There are many species to choose from, all congregated in the Species Board. All have their own unique paths for transformations, and all sorts of quirks to mend a proper playstyle for each race.
You've got a species you want to play in mind now, hopefully. So what next? Well, your application, of course! Follow the guidelines all set in the Character Application Template, and you'll be good to go. We try to review applications on a steady schedule, but sometimes life and other on-site tasks may take priority, so please be patient with us- we will do everything we can to get to it when we're able.
Once you're accepted and have made any edits you've needed to if required by a staff member, your application will be moved to the Accepted Character Board. But, if this is your first character on-site, there's one more step you need to take before you're able to RP with others, and that would be your Beginner's Presentation, or BP for short.
Your BP is a solo adventure detailing your character in a journey as short or long as you want it to be. This will commonly determine your averaged quality the grader will assess your posts with to begin with, so give us a good idea of the character, along with how they act and why in whatever situation you thrust them in, whether it be a thrilling fight against a demonic warrior, or a calming walk in the woods. If you have made a second, or "alternate" character, you may skip a second BP if you so wish, though.
Once a staff gives you your starting stats, you'll finally be ready to embark out on your own adventure in the World of Dragon Ball! We all hope you have a great time with everyone here on the site, and thank you for your interest and cooperation.
