It seemed like boring weeks had become a norm for the once serious lifestyle of Masu Hiyama. His constant battles and skirmishes on his home planet of Tayona had been replaced with long periods of waiting for orders. Most plans he had with World Trade Fleet had fallen through, and he was quickly realizing that they might not be the best of allies.
On the other side of things, he could feel his connection to Suketo…getting deeper. He couldn’t help but get more and more attached to her, despite his mission. His fate was to rule over her people, and he was by no means going to abandon that goal, but at the same time he felt obligated to at least be genuine about winning her trust. As such, after extensive thought and planning, he had decided to give her a proposal. After making sure his coat and jeans were comfortable on him, he went to knock on the lone door that lead into the single bedroom in their ship. “Suketo,” He called. “Get yourself dressed. There’s a carnival in town, and I’m taking you to it on a date.” He stated bluntly. His tone wasn't exactly the kind most would take when taking someone they loved on a date. His tone was commanding and almost implied that he was forcing her to go as a prisoner, without much hint of compassion in it.

Drinking, eating, training, and shopping... This was what became of Suketo's life. She strangely missed having assassins sent to kill her all the time. At least it was something for the princess to do. She was lying on the bed in her pj tank top, drinking, as usual. Masu knocking and almost forcefully saying they were going on a date surprised her. "Woah, there, you 'romantic' prick!" She said in a sarcastic tone before opening the door with her telekinesis, sitting cross legged on the bed, eyebrows rose. "First, why the hell does such a 'ruthless' prince want to go to a damn carnival? And two, what the hell do you mean date?! What, you're trying to change our little status now?" She got up, standing in front of him, but smirking. "But, I'll amuse you. I'll go with the little boy who wants to go to the carnival!" She began getting dressed, putting on cargo pants and boots before changing the tank top for a plain white t shirt and a vest, which matched the pants. "You want cotton candy when we make it there, 'sweetey'? Wanna ride the ferris wheel?" She joked. It was surprising that this warlord in training wanted to go to something like a carnival. Hell, she only went to them for the food. Besides that, they were places to hear about possible assassins and that was it. Not fun for the princess... but maybe it was because she was always alone at them. Maybe this would be different, especially since her and Masu were getting closer than they were.

“Come on, I try to do something nice and this is what I get?” He responded, shaking his head a bit. He figured she would probably respond like this. “Hey, I can like carnivals. I’m not all just bloodshed and violence you know. I loved going to them as a kid, and I still like them. It’ll be fun.” He promised as he tied his boots. “We can watch the performers, I can win you a prize from one of those rigged booths, and maybe, just maybe we can have a fairytale ending for just one night.” He opened the ship’s door and started walking out. “And I’ll get you cotton candy if you want.”

Suketo was surprised listening to him... Was Masu not feeling well? The tough prince wanting... a fairytale ending? She looked away from him, hiding the fact that she was blushing thinking of this. She never got to enjoy anything like this. "S... Sorry. It's just new to me. I mean, I never got to enjoy this type of shit. Hell, you have that little crony back at home. You know, the blonde hair dude who made the bet with Tabby our first fight! Me, I had Tabby, who was my guard. I had no other friends, no siblings, no admirers. Hell, you were my only friend. So... spending quality time is something new to me." She said, ready to walk out. She went back to being her sassy self, not wanting to show too many emotions. "But I'm not going to be like other chicks, swooning at you if you win meaningless prizes and trinkets, Masu. You know that I'm not like the other girls. You got what you paid for right here, man. You got the bitchy bastard princess." She didn't want to fall for him... But he was actually being... nice to her... and it made the princess feel quite special in someone's eyes. She almost smiled a genuine smile, but shook her head, looking to Masu. "L...Let's go before I change my mind." Though, in reality, she wasn't going to.

“Oh, you mean Kiami.” Masu thought back to his friend, and briefly wondered what he was doing. He figured he was probably out trying to flirt with women as usual. “He’s less of a friend and more like a peer that I would hang out with. If I wasn’t of the royal family I doubt he’d even care to remember my surname.”
Quality time was something new to him as well. The few friends he had were pampered royals, many of them not having to go through the ordeals he had to. It was hard to truly connect with any of them. “Hey, I wasn’t very popular either.” The prince retorted. “The only ‘friends’ I had were other noble children, and it was obvious that the only reason they hung around me was because their parents wanted to get in better standings with my father.”
Masu didn’t expect Suketo to be won over by a stuffed animal, but whether she knew it or not it was likely to at least make the task a bit easier. “I’ll still win you a prize anyway. If Earth’s carnival games are rigged anything like the ones on Tayona, I should be able to get you something. I spent a lot of time at with those games, so I’ve learned a couple of the tricks.” Giving the flyer of the carnival he was holding a quick glance, he started flying towards its location. “Keep up, because I’m not slowing down for you! Its been too long since I’ve had good carnival food!”

"Still more than I had. Noble children would make fun of me for how I cut up my hair and clothes, saying I was meant for the streets. In return, I would beat the hell out of them. Lost a good number of my baby teeth in those fights, and knocked out a shit ton more from those pricks. The kids parents stopped bringing their children around me by age 8. It was another reason why those nobles hated my guts." She said without any worry in her voice, though inside she was filled of pain. It was one of the reasons she tried to kill herself when she was younger. "Plus, you're a full blooded prince. I'm a halfling. Once that was discovered, I was the disgrace of Pashifikku and Atorantikku. You're the first person outside my family that showed me any sort of respect, Masu." Damn it, she was getting into her feeling again... why did she always open up about her past with him? She focused on heading to the carnival. "Dude, you don't have to talk to me about food. I'm gonna be digging into ALLLLLL that crap! That was the only thing I liked about the carnivals!" She chuckled, smirking as the two headed to their destination.

Masu got a light chuckle out of hearing how Suketo dealt with people who made fun of her. “Sounds like they deserved it. I’d say to make more friends than enemies, but I doubt you would listen.”
He wasn’t surprised that nobody respected her, after all he had found out about her heritage. It wasn’t uncommon for the offspring of a royal and a commoner to be looked down on. “You deserve respect.” He retorted. “Your combat prowess is incredible. In Hokkyoku, even a peasant can earn respect should he prove his skill in battle. Many of our strongest soldiers are commoners who were determined to rise up in the ranks.”
As they drew closer to their destination, Masu spotted the familiar sight of bright lights and carnival tents. “I brought the money, and I’m going to be holding on to it while we’re here, ok?” He asked as he started digging around in the pouch for the exact change to pay for the entrance.

"Of course they did! They were the real bastards!" She said, rolling her eyes thinking about those kids. They were probably having a field day now that the bastard princess was gone. She smiled when he said she deserved respect. Listening about Hokkyoku, she remembered history of her kingdoms. "Well, it's the same with Pashifikku and Atorantikku. In our history, some of the greatest soldiers came from nothing. One man, Takifugu, fought alongside King Tourit hundreds of years ago, destroying a threat to our entire planet." She then remembered the same generation of royals as that king as the two entered the carnival. "Tourit married the first person to have telekinesis on the planet; Princess Tenshira Takata of Atorantikku, joining the two kingdoms for the first time. Their reign was glorious in my kingdoms, and their love was something that hasn't been seen since. Hell, the two traveled to Earth for their honeymoon and almost got arrested together because of the Atorantikku royal jewels actually being stolen centuries ago!" Suketo was like a history book of the Sanichi-Takata reign. It had always been interesting learning about how she got her powers, and the person who possessed them before her. However, it did bring some sadness to her. "She... is the reason that I'm a disgrace. She was the last princess of the kingdom, the first one in Atorantikku in about 1000 years, and was the picture definition of beauty and serenity. She was elegant and obedient... practically the opposite of me." The princess looked away, remembering probably one of the most important parts of that royal's life. "She is also the reason why we were destined to be enemies. The moment after she gave birth to the heir, Prince Saba, a Hokkyoku assassin attempted to kill the infant, but killed the king, making Tourit king. 7 years later, after another prince was born, the royal family went out alone to the floral field outside of Atorantikku… where Prince Salmo stabbed Tenshira. She died in her husband's arms in front of her two sons, aged 7 and 3." Her history was not a happy one, and it put more pressure on her to be the perfect princess. "I'm commonly reminded by many people all over Tayona I'm a disgrace to her."

“I’ve heard about Princess Tenshira.” Masu remarked, landing at the entrance of the carnival. “Her death and Prince Salmo’s death was the spark that reignited the fighting between Hokkyoku and Pashifikku.” He pulled out some money and handed to the teller and threw Suketo her ticket. “But let’s try not to dwell on pasts and legacies…At least not today. You’ll have plenty of time to feel sorry for yourself later. Right now, I want cotton candy.” The prince quickly realized his insensitive words. “But, uh, I guess I’ll listen to you talk all about it later, ok?”

"Yep. Plus," She gave an almost villainous smirk to Masu. "Salmo's grave was dug up, and body parts sold. Let's just say his skull is sitting nice and pretty above my bed." Her room back home was filled with alot of strange things, like bounty posters of her that were posted all over the black market. Suketo's eyes opened wide once Masu said she had time later to feel sorry about herself. This made her blood boil. "Excuse me?" She walked up to him, grabbing by the collar. "EXCUSE ME?! YOU BETTER SHUT YOUR MOUTH RIGHT NOW, BITCH!" People began looking over to the two, which was common with how they acted. "If THIS is how you want to start off this so called 'date', it'll be WAAAY over before it even STARTS!" She let him go, walking away. "You KNOW the shit I've dealt with, Masu, even from you! Do I have to remind you of what you've done?! Come find me when you get your head out of your ass!" She used her telekinesis, throwing the ticket down before walking in. From one of the cargo pants pockets, she pulled a flask. She was planning on possibly getting wasted on a ride with Masu, but forget him! She took a good drink, closing it and walking away, not looking back at him.

“Oh for the love of…Dammit...” Masu ran after her, and grabbed her arm. “Look, I’m sorry for saying that, ok? That was insensitive of me, I wasn’t thinking.” He was half apologizing sincerely, half because he didn’t want this to ruin his day at the carnival. "The words just came out wrong. Can we just forget about it and enjoy ourselves? I don't want some stupid thing I said to ruin our time.”

Suketo rolled her eyes, glaring at him. She pulled her arm away, it undoing some of her arm wrappings she had on. She quickly readjusted them, sighing. "You better be, prick. All of this is with me every day, and you know it." She looked away, trying to hide the pain that she felt, but it was hard since he knew her more than anyone else. She took another drink before looking at him. "I'm going to be more of this shit to enjoy myself now. And be careful what comes out of that pit of a mouth." She said, walking. "Let's get some food, that'll put me in a better mood." She began walking, looking around at the people. She never got a good look at them before, and saw people that she found attractive. That'll get to him, for sure. "Nice looking folks, though. Maybe I'll try to spend some sweet time with them." She stared at one girl, who's hair was cut short, and dressed in darker clothes. The princess smirked looking at her.

“Alright, lets get some cotton candy.” He offered. He hoped that pure sugar would atone for what he did. He certainly didn’t like her talking about ditching him for other people, though, and decided to try his hand at impressing her, as futile an attempt it may be. “Hey, first I want to show you a neat trick. Come on, follow me.” He guided her to a booth with a timeless game; knock down three bottles with one ball. After slapping a dollar down on the counter, he grabbed his humble weapon. The man running the booth set up a three bottle pyramid and stood aside to let Masu throw. “Watch this.” He boasted, moving to the side. The attendant looked puzzled, thinking the prince could just possibly be trying to steal the ball and walk away with it.
After he could see the side of the bottles, Masu threw a powerful curveball, which knocked down the first bottle, and had enough velocity to go through the second on the bottom as well. Without a base to hold it, the top bottle also toppled and fell to the ground. “Well, that’s one way to do it, I guess. What prize did’ja want?”
The prince simply ignored the attendant and walked away. A giant stuffed animal wouldn’t really look too good in their ship. Going back to his date, he put his arm around her and whispered in her ear. “That’s my trick to that game. You could throw the ball head on with all your damn might and it won’t work; The bottles are positioned perfectly to where a ball of that size won’t knock them over if you aim for the center, so I figured out a long time ago how to cheat the system. Neat, huh?” He said smugly.

When the two were handed the cotton candy, she quickly began eating it. The sugar filled her mouth, sending a bright sensation through her mouth. She couldn't help but get a smile on her face from the sweetness. The princess followed Masu, eating as he began to play the game. It was sort of impressive with him knocking them down. "Nice, Masu, now give me the largest stuffed toy." She said, taking it then looking, seeing a kid with nervous looking parents. She knelt down, giving it to the kid, the parents looking upset until the kid happily turned. Suketo laughed, whispering to Masu. "No parent wants their kid to actually take that piece of crap home." She chuckled, looking at the game, and getting a brilliant idea, a cocky smile spreading on her face. "What do I get if I can knock down all the bottles there with one ball?" She asked, arms crossed. The attendant looked. "Well, that'll be very impressive, but you'll still win the same prize as your boyfriend won." She rolled her eyes when he said "boyfriend", but pushed it away. The man set it up as Suketo hid one hand. She threw the ball, as her other hand went to work, using her powers to send the ball at the perfect angle, then launching the knocked bottles into the other stacked towers. Clapping happened around her, her chuckling as she was handed another large stuffed animal. She turned, seeing a girl with her boyfriend, handing it to her and patting her cheek. "Look at this and remember the true champ, honey." She winked, walking back to Masu, laughing lightly when she heard the girl say "Why can't you even win me a small prize?" She whispered back to Masu. "Go to any booth, we can win every prize we want. Even the expensive shit." She finally spoke out loud to him when they walked away. "Damn, back on Tayona, I couldn't do that since my kingdoms knew of my powers. Here, we can win this carnival dry together!" She took another drink, a smile on her face. In her own, messed up way, she was enjoying this!

Masu got a slight smile on his face seeing the child happy to receive a stuffed animal larger than himself. “That’s probably true.” He remarked. “Its huge. Where the hell would you even put it?”
Masu was a bit surprised that Suketo was so confident that she could do what he had accomplished, until he remembered her special power. “It’s not exactly fair when you can redirect the ball midair with telekinesis…” Masu thought to himself over the sound of bottles loudly falling to the floor. It was basically just like using your hand to knock them over at that point.
“What’s the point of winning a carnival dry of prizes? So we can build a house out of stuffed toys?” He was about to dismiss the rest of the booths entirely, until he spotted a favorite of his. “Except that one. I do want to win at that one.” He pointed to a booth with a small river in it, which was occupied by a multitude of small rubber ducks.
