It was a pretty hot day out here in South City. Everyone was either sitting in their homes where the AC was or just enjoying themselves over at the city park, which somehow always remained cleaned no matter what. The Saiyan was currently in this park and sitting in a sort of lawnchair that she bought... from a person... with her money being a fist. Yup, she literally just punched someone for their lawnchair just so she can sit down and relax in the park. It's amazing what this Saiyan would do just to get something she wanted. If you're wondering about the guy, he's perfectly fine! He just has a bloody nose is all.
The middle-aged Saiyan had this chair under a tree, just so the sun wasn't really beaming down at her. She was also sipping on a cup of soda as well while she laid back in her chair, sighing quietly and just relaxing. Honestly, she thought she deserved this break after going through the trouble of grocery shopping for her son, mainly because the store she was in was PACKED. Obviously, she couldn't just beat her way to the cashier, so she literally had to wait behind a long line... until giving up entirely and just buying some fast food for both her and her son. She currently had the bag of McBaos resting beside her. It was pretty early in the day, so Tarch wasn't most likely hungry at the moment considering she made him microwave some frozen food for the morning. She didn't know how to cook, by the way, so he had to make do with what they had until then. All he's getting this week is just fried food and frozen stuff, no matter if he likes it or not. The Saiyan would adjust her pair of shades as she stared at all the children playing, wondering if her son would've liked to come here. Eh, he's 13 so he most likely wouldn't really like playing around with young children. So mark that idea off for now... Saizomaru

A good day for a stroll in the park. The sun was shining, the breeze rolled through, and everyone was out enjoying the good weather. The heat wave that had plagued most of the world was dying down, but the temperature was still above the norm.
Saizomaru made his way through the park, glancing around at everyone having a good time. Children played in the fields in their own imaginary games, or had a ball for themselves to kick around to each other. Families were sitting on the grass on their checkered blankets, enjoying a family picnic. Others were letting their dogs have a run around and throwing small tennis balls and Frisbees for them to catch.
The android was the odd one out, plainly.
He caught sight of a mature woman, probably no older than her early thirties, sitting alone on a nearby lawn chair under a tree near the path. Pausing for a moment, Saizomaru wondered why she was here and on her own. He smiled and made his way towards her. She could probably do with a bit of company.
"Hey there, ma'am," he greeted in a friendly manner, giving her a wave with a metal hand. "Mind if I sit here?" he asked as he gestured the tree to his side with a thumb. Before she could answer he had already hopped up into the tree, lounging on one of the thick, low branches that was only a few meters from the ground.
"Good weather today, right?" he called down to her. "You here to enjoy the sunshine?"

You know, she rarely had the chance to enjoy this place. Even in her 12 years of being alone, she never really liked the idea of going out in public and just relaxing. But ever since her son started staying with her, she felt as if she needed a break. It's been such a long time since she's seen her ex and child, so all of this was honestly stressing her out. Hell, she didn't even knock the person out like she usually did! It seems like the stone cold saiyan is growing old, heh. She would smile to herself for a moment, taking a small sip from her drink and sighing. Honestly it's either a blessing or a curse now that Tarch's here.
Kohlra still had mix feelings about everything obviously, but soon she'll manage. It'll take a week until she's used to her son being around, and she knew that for a fact. But anyways, the saiyan would lean back in her chair and sigh out yet again. She should do this a little bit more often and probably have Tarch join alongside with her. Maybe he would make some friends and... nope, never mind. Kohlra would rather not mess with any other brats otherwise she might be forced to talk to their parents. Ugh, that would be really annoying.
As the saiyan was lost in thought however, she would blink whenever someone spoke to her. The middle-aged woman went ahead and raised her sunglasses before looking up at the man, blinking a few more times. Why the hell was he wearing armor out here? And what's with his hair? She would stare at him for a few seconds longer before slowly nodding, "Uh, yeah. I don't really care. Just don't annoy me too much and we'll be golden." Whoever this guy was, he seemed pretty weird, especially when he went ahead and hopped into the tree. A small snicker escaped her as he went ahead and relaxed on a branch.
After he went and did that, the air would grow silent between the two. Only the sounds of laughter and giggles could be heard for a moment, which would soon be broken whenever Saiz decided to make some small talk. In response to his question, she would nod. "It's pretty nice here, gotta admit. I'd rather be at the beach or somethin' but this will do. Anyways, what about you? That armor you're wearing doesn't exactly scream 'comfortable'."

The android chuckled. He thought that she was the kind of lady who enjoyed relaxing in the outdoors regardless of where she was—park, forest, beach, mountains, it probably didn't matter to her. He felt a sort of kindred bond that they shared in their enjoyment of enjoying the world. "Beach, huh? Sounds nice," he responded as he let one leg hang over the side of the branch. "Just chillin out by the sea in a swim suit, catching some rays to get a nice tan for the ladies—or guys, in your case. Maybe. Shouldn't presume, should I, eh?"
The man smiled as she agreed on the glory of the day's weather. Certainly beat the ninety degrees heat that they had some few days ago. He looked down at her as she asked about himself. "Me? Just chillin' out. Taking in the sights. Having a bit of a walkabout."
He let his arm hang by his side in view of the saiyan woman. "And I'm not wearing armor." The make his point known, the metal segments began to shift and protrude inches away from the rest of his arm. The artificial muscles separated in clumps of strands as they were pulled away by the segmented plates, revealing only the metal, skeletal structure of his arm. He left it as it was for a few moments, making sure that Kohlra understood what she was looking at. He then lifted his arm back up, muscle and metal returning to their positions.
"I mean, it's cool to have sometimes," he spoke. "Coolant keeps the body temperature regulated, so I don't have to worry about getting a heat stroke or anything." He looked down at her, remembering that she had asked him about himself. "What about you?" he asked, reciprocating the query. "Doing anything else besides enjoying the weather? Having a bit of lunch too?" He gestured at the bag of McBaos next to her.

The Saiyan snickered quietly after hearing the android's response to her beach comment. "Yeah, something like that. I can't go to the beach mainly because I have someone waiting at home, so I decided to just stop by the nearest place: the park." She would respond, stretching and letting out a loud yawn while on her chair. "And yeah, the tan would be 'in my case' for guys. But I doubt a tan would even catch a bachelor's eye, considering my age and everything." She would say, following it up with a small shrug. "Plus with me having a son around, my chances of having anyone of interest coming to me sounds pretty slim."
The Saiyan nodded after hearing his response from the question she asked, grinning. "I sorta suspected that... but yeah, it seems pretty nice out here." It indeed was a nice day out, and with each second she would slowly begin to regret not bringing Tarch along. Surely he would love to be out here, right? But again, the risk of him earning some annoying friends just sounds... annoying. Maybe he'll bring him out here later whenever she's financially stable.
Kohlra would look back up at the android after hearing that it wasn't armor. With a smirk, she would reply snarkily, "What? You're telling me that you're some sort of metal ma-?" Soon her question would be answered as Saiz shown her that what he had was indeed not armor. She blinked a few times before shaking her head, sort of shocked by the fact that he was some sort of robot. "... I'll call you 'Tin Man' for now on, alright?" She said, letting out a small chuckle.
Soon they would continue the conversation, the Saiyan seeming to enjoy the talk they had. "Yeah, that sounds pretty cool. But uh, are you half man and half machine or something? 'Cause that head part of yours seem human, so..." After asking her question, she would soon be asked one herself. Kohlra slowly scratched the back of her head as she thought about what she's been doing, only to respond a moment later. "I sorta just came here from a McBaos after giving up on grocery shopping. These burgers here are for my kid, Tarch. Right now though, I came here to relax and think for a bit..."
Her face would turn into a slight frown as she let out a quiet sigh. Something seemed to be bothering the Saiyan...

The android hummed as he looked down at her, taking a good look at her appearance. "Oh, come on, now," he spoke in a cheerful manner, "you don't look a day past thirty. I bet you'd look good on a beach towel." he smirked as he pushed himself off from the back of the tree trunk, turning to face her with his legs dangling over the side of the branch. "And there's plenty of guys out there who don't mind ladies with a kid. You'll be alright."
He hummed with a slight chuckle behind his lips. "Eh, 'Tin Man' is a bit on the nose, don'tchya think? You can call me Sai like everyone else does. Plus it's one less word for you to worry about." He looked down at his hand before raising it to run two fingers along his cheek. "Mostly machine, yeah. Only parts that are still human is my head—and even that hasn't been left untouched from cybernetics. Gotta admit though, the lack of needing food and sleep gives me more hours in the day to get stuff done."
It might have been awkward for people to divulge their personal information to complete strangers, but Saizomaru didn't mind in the least. He felt it was a good way to connect with people by opening himself up to them—literally and figuratively.
But he sat still as the woman mentioned a name that he had recognized. "Tarch?" he repeated. "Little saiyan kid? Blue eyes, black hair, has a monkey tail? Wears a blue jacket?" He chuckled. "Small world after all, right? I've met him a couple of times. Good kid. Likes his games."

The Saiyan would raise a brow after hearing Sai and chuckled, accepting what she assumed to be a compliment. "Well, you flattered me alright. And yeah, all thanks to my saiyan blood and all that. I'm currently 38 right now, and only a few more months until I reach 39..." She sighed, watching as Sai adjusted himself on the branch. Just to mess with him, she would give the android a wink before asking, "And I assume you would be one of those kinda guys?"
As the topic switched back to him, she would let out a quiet laugh at the comment about the nickname he gave her. She would shake her head once being told to just call him Sai, believing that this nickname should stick between the two. "I can call you Tin or Tinny if you want, but I rather not call you by a nickname given by everyone else. That doesn't sound all that fun, y'know?" She said, a slight, genuine smile forming on her face. It's surprising how she isn't annoyed by this guy. Well, she was annoyed at first whenever he first approach, but she soon enough enjoyed his company. But once he started talking about his body again and such, she would go ahead and ask him a question. "So you were human before? What changed that?"
Whenever he repeated Tarch's name, she would look up at Sai curiously. Hell, she was kinda shocked that this man knew who her son was, but again she didn't really know what her son did whenever she was gone, so she shouldn't be all that surprised. "That's him alright... He has my hair and his dad's eyes. Obviously uh, me and his father aren't together right now. He kinda married another woman after I had to leave, so yeah." Kohlra would quietly sigh, a frown soon being plastered on her face. "It's hard being a parent. With my lifestyle, it's even harder. Hell, I can't cook actual food or earn myself a legal job."
The Saiyan would move both of her hands to her face before letting out yet another sigh, "I'm a bad mom. I can't even show my own son affection because I don't know how to. Calling my ex was just a big mistake... ugh..." Kohlra would remain quiet afterwards, her hands still covering her face.

The android gave a gentle sigh as he smiled a little back at her. "Sorry to disappoint you," he replied apologetically, "but I'm not good with kids. Not entirely sure how to be a parent—especially for someone else's kid. You can find a whole lot better than me."
Saizomaru tutted as he lounged back against the tree. "A'ight, fine. You can call me 'Tin'. Try not to get used to it, though." It wasn't a name he especially liked—he didn't want to be reminded that he was practically a robot. It made him feel less than what he was.
Her question made him more so. There was a silence between the two as Saizomaru hesitated to respond. "A lot," he finally responded. "A mission got botched. I was taken captive. I was butchered until I was only a head in a jar, then I was fitted with this body. I was saved by my squad before anything else could be done to me. Since then…" He raised his arm, glancing down at it. His fingers curled into a loose fist, then relaxed. "I've been like this."
He told more than what he wanted. But now he had the chance to listen to her story. His attention never left the woman as she spoke each word, framing a scene for the android in his mind's eye. She was on hard times—something that the android had experienced for years in his own right. He may not have understood her situation perfectly, but he understood her pain.
He looked down, noticing that she had her hands on her face. For a moment he reflected upon how he had felt—how she now felt. He had no one to comfort him in his days of black, but maybe he could comfort her.
He dropped from the branch onto his feet, boots silently landing upon the grass. He stood behind her, back leaned against the trunk of the tree, and placed a hand on her shoulder. "The only mistakes in this world is not solving your regrets," he spoke softly to her. "That's what my father always says. He was a tough man, too. I never had much affection from him either… But he's still my father."
Taking his hand from her shoulder, he walked around to her front. Gently he wrapped his hands around her wrists, fingers lightly curled around them, before slowly taking her hands away from her face. "You can't cook? Fast and frozen foods are fine. Can't find a job? Fight for your money—there's plenty of martial arts competitions around. Don't know how to show affection? Just say to him what my father said to me, all those years ago…" He glanced down for a moment. he smiled, then looked her in the eyes before saying, "I'm proud to have you as my son."

Kohlra would snicker at his apology, shaking her head. Anyone would be way better than her whenever it involved parenting, and she knew that full-well that she was a horrible parent. Hell, whenever she was gone for 12 or so years, she honestly forgot that she had a child. "Pfft, anyone is better than me whenever it involves taking care of a kid. I don't know what to do with him besides just... feed him." Kohlra sighed, though a smile would form on her face after the topic switched over to his nickname. "Alright, Tin. And don't worry, I won't. I'll probably forget the nickname anyway."
A moment later though, her smile would just fade away after hearing his own story about how he became who he was today. Ouch, now she kinda regretted giving him the name. Maybe she'll just call him Sai for now, since it would be obvious that this guy wouldn't like to be called a "tin can". She slowly nodded whenever he finished, feeling some empathy for the stranger. It wasn't common for her to feel bad for someone, but hearing this guy's story just reminded her that even other people can experience way worst things.
She went ahead and told him some bits of what's been going on with her anyway, even with the knowledge of what Sai went through. Kohlra began feeling quite petty after she was finished though, have only talked about what recently just happened. As she went and covered her face though, she would later hear the android drop from the branch. The saiyan listened to him silently, deciding to not speak otherwise she's gonna feel even worse.
Kohlra flinched slightly after feeling his hand resting on her shoulder but kept her hands clasped onto her face. Though as he went and gripped her wrists to pull them away, she would allow him to do this. Even if tears began to fall from her face, she would look up at the android as he continued. The saiyan sniffled a couple of times before pulling her hands away from his to begin wiping her face, a small sigh escaping her. "I'll remember to tell him that... and thanks. I already fight for my money, but it's not exactly legal, heh..." She replied, letting out a loud huff once she leaned back against her chair. "You know, you're the first person in a while to actually make me tear up. Usually I would give someone who does that a bloody nose but... you're a great guy." Kohlra smiled and went ahead to rub at one of her eyes again, "You should come visit me and my son sometimes. You're the first guy that I met that isn't a complete dirtbag." Before Sai could respond though, she would go ahead and give him the address of her home. "It's Bao Heights, and the room I'm in is Room 34. The hotel isn't exactly the prettiest so just a warning if you expect me to be living in a 5-star hotel."

He felt something pang in his chest. A pain where his heart had once been. The phantom pain of a broken heart made Saizomaru tense as he saw the tears in the woman's hazelnut eyes. She was so full of strength, so full of will. But everything and everyone had a breaking point.
Saizomaru smiled. It wasn't from the heart though. Right now there wasn't much of anything to smile about. No, he put on a brave face for her, to be her strength. His hands released from her wrists, instead reaching up to her cheeks. The touch was warm and gentle, whether from the temperature of his body or from the heat of her flushed cheeks was uncertain. His palms cupped around them, his thumbs wiping away the streaks of tears that ran down her face.
"No more crying," the android cooed softly, gently, as though he was talking to his own child. He pulled his hands away, placing them on the arms of her chair.
Kohlra gave the android a compliment. It had been a while—a long while—since Saizomaru had had anything good to be said about him. Very few people ever gave him any consideration of more than what he appeared to be. Fewer ever treated him as a human being.
But she did.
Standing to his feet, Saizomaru swerved around to the side of her chair, taking a seat next to her with his back leaning against the arm of her seat. "Thanks," he said in regards to not being given a bloody nose. "I'll take that as a compliment, shall I?" He chuckled as he brushed the bang of his hair from out of one side of his face.
"And I'd love to come visit." He wasn't sure what to think of all this. He had been alone for a long part of his life save for a select few people. He was an ambivalent twist of charismatic and introverted—knew how to be around people, but preferred to keep to himself. He never wanted to get involved in anyone else's life.
Maybe that was all about to change?

The saiyan continued to stare up at him, tears continuing to fall from her cheeks. Her eyes grew wide however once the android went ahead and began touching her cheeks, surprised by the sudden facial contact. Usually she would, again, punch anyone who would touch her, but for some odd reason she prevented herself from doing so. A small smile slowly began to appear on her face as he rubbed the tears away from her face, a small sigh escaping her.
She nodded after being told to stop crying, a quiet chuckle escaping the saiyan. “Y-Yeah, I’ll stop. Honestly I can’t believe I’m crying… dammit, I shouldn’t be crying. No saiyan shouldn’t be crying over this sort of thing…” Kohlra said, following it with a small sniffle.
Kohlra watched as the android went ahead and sat beside her, and without much of a warning, she slowly scoots herself over to him before leaning her head against his shoulder, sighing quietly. “Yeah, take it however you want… and thanks for making an old saiyan like myself happy. You’re welcome to come visit anytime, Sai…” She quietly spoke, the smile on her face becoming even bigger. “Anytime…”
Today was a great day for her now.
“… Y’know, for a tin man, you sure have a heart.” Kohlra would quietly say, her smile slowly switching into a grin. She would slowly wrap an arm around him afterwards, giving him a sort of half hug as they sat together. It appeared that the saiyan mother was actually enjoying all this, considering how relaxed she was. It wasn't normal for her to be so calm and collected, but for some reason, Saizomaru managed to change that.
She now had hope that everything will get better soon, and all because of one Tinman.

"Everyone should be crying over their children," replied Saizomaru softly, a small smile over his lips. He hummed as he looked out towards the large green fields of the park. He saw in the distance a whole group of kids playing games with one-another. Near the trees beyond them were the families having a picnic, enjoying the outing as parents and kids have their lunches. With a sigh he leaned his head back, resting it against the arm of the lady's chair.
"I've not got a kid," he added. He stared up at the sky, looking up at the specks of blue colours that peeked from between the leaves and branches of the tree above them. He wasn't looking up at the sky—the stars, hidden beyond the pale, was what he was looking at. The Big Dipper—the North Star, Hokuto—was something that his father had said brought fortune to their family. It was revered as the founding symbol of what lead to the creation of Mushou-Ryuu, their family legacy. It made his think of his place in the world, his familial tradition. "Every generation of my family bears a single kid—a son—to continue our legacy. I've not done that despite my age. Never really found the right lady. And now…"
He looked down at his feet. His legs. His torso. Then: "I may never do. I guess… it ends with me."
He caught himself rambling, caught himself in his own self pity, almost forgetting that he was with someone else before returning back to reality. With a chuckle he said, "Sorry. Didn't mean to go off into a rant."
A small smile formed on his mismatched lips of pale skin and black as Kohlra thanked him. Almost too graciously. He snickered. "I get the feeling that you've got some rather unsavory thoughts in your head," he teased as he looked up at her.
Again she teased him with that name. He didn't mind. He was perceptive enough to know that she meant no harm, that she treated him as a person and not a thing. "Y'know, for a saiyan, you're quite—" he reached up with a hand and gave the tip of her nose a gentle tap with the tip of his finger —nosey."
Slowly, but surely, Saizomaru would help this lady step out from the shadows of her regrets and into the light of determination. It was his goal, after all, to bring peace back to this world—one person at a time if need be.

The saiyan woman slowly nodded at his comment, a small smile forming on her face as well. “You’re right… but it’s strange for a saiyan to cry, you know? My mother or father never cried about me, though they did get angry whenever I couldn’t do something, like break a rock or something. I was weak whenever I was younger… but I guess they didn’t care.” She sighed quietly and soon looked up at the sky as well, joining the android.
The woman frowned after hearing what he had to say, though she would go ahead and give him yet another hug. “Just because you don’t have a child doesn’t mean anything, you know? Having someone to love ya and everything matters… even if you aren’t able to have kids.” She replied to him, shaking her head after he apologized. “It’s really alright. You’ve managed to make me feel better, so why not I help ya out as a repayment?”
Kohlra smiled, only to snicker after hearing his teasing. “Eh, I don’t give out free hugs often… so ya better take them and be proud to be hugged by me.” She chuckled, “But still though, you can still find yourself a girl. I’m sure ya can butter them up or something, like you did with me.”
She blinked after her nose was given a tap, her smirk widening a little bit more. “Well, I can’t help it. You’re the first guy to make me happy so… I’m gonna be nosey.” The woman would say, her smirk switching over to a warm smile. "You're a very strange man, but... in a good way. Wait, no... a great way."
Today was sure a surprise. She came to the park after going to a McBaos, robbed someone of their lawn chair, and is now sitting down with a handsome and nice man, who is apparently also a robot of sorts.

Saizomaru hummed. Strange for a saiyan to cry. It was an awkward thought to have that there are people who find it strange to show emotion. But then again there are humans who have that mentality too, but an entire race? It seems so authoritarian. It seemed so… backward. Wrong. Even as Kohlra continued to explain her lack of affection from her parents it continued to pour disbelief over the android.
He looked down, seeing a pair of arms wrap around over his shoulders, the lady's hands placed against his chest. It made Saizomaru feel… odd. When was the last time that anyone had touched him so? A year? Two? Three? Even then it was from his mother—he expected as much.
But just like then, he felt nothing physically. How could he? He was made up of metal plates and bolts and bars, wrapped up in synthetic muscle that had no pain receptors. But even so, the gesture made him feel something inside.
With a smile he placed his own warm hands onto hers. His fingers curled and wrapped themselves around Kohlra's. He looked up at her and spoke softly, "You don't need to help out someone like me. And…" He sighed, then continued, "I have to have a child. I need to continue on our family's bloodline, if not for our sake then for the sake of our world."
He snickered at the thought of him going around trying to flirt with all these different kinds of girls. He had thought about it before when he was still human, but he was too entrenched in his work to be able to have any sort of meaningful relationship. Now that he was ninety percent titanium and fibres? What chance did he have now?
"I'm glad I got to cheer you up," he admitted with a smile. "I'm not that good at it, but at least it worked this time." He reached up and gave her another tap on the nose. "Well, I'll take strangeness as a compliment I guess."
It was odd. Saizomaru found himself better off alone than with anyone else, but… this was different. He liked being around this lady. She was only the second person he enjoyed being around next to his student.
Was he… changing?

It appeared that she also was experiencing this odd feeling. The only time she remembered having such a feeling was from her ex, but why would she fall in love with someone she didn- Okay, she did have a kid with the guy after a little while. But how could she fall in love with someone like… him? He wasn’t exactly made entirely of flesh and such, like a ‘normal’ person was, but for some reason he just seemed… different. Different in a good way, obviously…
Kohlra blinked a few times after feeling his hands wrapping themselves around her own, a small red tint appearing on her face. ‘I’m blushing?! What the hell?!’ The saiyan thought to herself, though she would look up at the android as he spoke. She frowned at what he had to say, though soon enough her hug would tighten a little bit as she began to smile. “Well, maybe there’s still hope in that.” She chuckled quietly.
The woman blinked a few times again whenever the android poked at her nose, a small smile forming on her face. All of her contained anger, hatred, and aggression seemed to have disappeared today. She wasn’t sick, nor did she suffer a concussion.
She was in love.
“… Hey, uh… whenever I deliver these burgers to my son, you wanna go hang out somewhere together? I wanna get to know ya a bit more and hey…” Slowly, she went and gripped his hands. Her hands were quite soft to the touch, which was a surprise considering how much she used them to punch people. “Maybe you’ll have the chance to continue that bloodline you’ve been whining about the entire time to me.” Kohlra grinned before going ahead and giving one of his metal plates a small nuzzle.
This was pure bliss.
