Van-80 PL: 16,000
Ima PL: 10,000
Pr1de PL: 8,000
Van-80 was more disheveled than ever. His hair was a greasy mess, his skin was peeling, showing small patches of unpolished metal, and the already damaged half of his face was occasionally crackling out sparks here and there. Not to mention he could barely get his left hand to look more than skeletal. It was getting to the point even Pr1de worried about their hopeful successor. So much so in fact that they pulled aside Ima for a serious conversation.
“I’m worried about him.”
Ima, of course, was skeptical at first, “oh? What you think he’ll be better off permanently fused with you?”
Pr1de wasn’t having it for once, “Damn it Ima I’m serious. I’ve watched you two since day one, he’s always been boisterous, damn near flamboyant. Now all he does is try to fix himself while feeling guilty for himself! It’s hard to watch.” Ima folded her arms, begrudgingly agreeing with the prideful android. The problem was, neither one of them knew what they could do about it. “I think this has something to do with his hand.” Ima gave the elder a skeptical glare. “I’m serious, he tried to shoot someone with that hand, someone that, according to you, he cared about.”
The female android took a deep sigh. “Again, you are right. Vanity cares very deeply for his fellow Crop Co members. Under normal circumstances, he would take a bullet for any one of them any day of the week. However, this time he was the bullet. Perhaps we could…” Ima paused, a weak smile crossing her lips. “I am going to take a page out of your book and try something possibly disastrous. Though I am going to need your help.” From there Ima told Pr1de her plan, their face growing into a broader and more malicious grin.
“Oh, Ima you devil! If this fails though, you’ll have an even bigger mess than before.”
“And if it succeeds, Van-80 will be back to his old self, even better possibly.”
So Ima enacted her half of the plan first, using her internal communicator to get in touch with a certain avian member of Crop Co. Unfortunately, she’d only receive an answering machine. “Hi Sulfur, it is Ima. I’m just calling because Van has been feeling just terrible about what he did to you. He says he wants to make it up to you but he does not know how. If it is alright with you, I think you two should meet up somewhere, just to reconcile. Maybe somewhere nice in North City? Let me know if that is ok with you and I will tell Van.” She hung up the ‘phone’ breathless. She never had any trouble making phone calls as an AI, was this just part of being even artificially human?
Next was Pr1de. Now they had to assume Sulfur was going to say yes while at the same time be as ready for disaster as possible. So they started simply by throwing a clean pair of clothes at the pretty boy. “You look a mess, go clean yourself off.”
Van gave Pr1de a confused scowl, “Why? Am I going anywhere?”
“As a matter of fact Vaney, you are!” Pride roped an arm around the younger bot. “Ima and I think you’ve been cooped up in this place for far too long. So in an effort to get you back to your old self, we set you up on a blind date.”
“A date!?” he practically screamed. “I’m not going on a date!”
“Not like that you’re not,” Pr1de laughed, “besides its less a date and more, a blind hang out I guess? Point is, you need to not only get out of this place for a while, and start not only getting others to forgive you but forgive yourself as well.”
Van narrowed his eyes as he slowly heads over to his repair pod, “It’s with a member of Crop Co, isn’t it? They’re the only ones I can think of that I would want to forgive me for anything.”
Pride rolled their eyes, shoving Van into the pod. “You really don’t get the point of a blind date, do you? But yes, it is. She’s feathery, she’s short, and could probably fix up that hand of yours better than you ever could.”
“So Sulfur?” he asked a hint of dismay trailing his voice.
“What’s wrong with her?”
“Nothing save for the fact I tried to shoot her! Plus,” his voice shook a bit as he went on, “No offense to aliens, but I prefer humanoid people. I just don’t see how it works otherwise. Not to mention as much as I may act like a pretty boy heartthrob, I've never really been all that romantic.”
“Come now Vaney, you yourself said you weren't going on a date. Besides, in this day and age, you could probably find interspecies couples all over the place.”
Vanity stepped out of the repair pod, his skin back to normal, and his clothes and hair as sleek as ever. “I thought you said this WASN'T a date.”
“Not you and Sulfur, her boorish ape ex-boyfriend. Besides you might be surprised.”
Van gave his hand a disapproving sigh, the skin loose and baggy. So he simply cut it off, making sure to leave as much intact as possible. “Alright I’ll go, Just know I’m more concerned with reconciling than anything else.” With that Van grabbed a glove and head out, making extra sure the damaged part of his face was well covered by his hair.
