ON THE SELF-DETERMINATION OF SYSTEMS | Kanrin's PL: 1,500 |
The garden in Kanrin's compound was usually a serene place, with most of the traffic that came in and out of the establishment sticking to the training area and the library, in the connected indoor complex. Today things were different, as a number of the more recognizable faces that frequented the compound gathered around a large meeting table. A handful of books and copies of documents were scattered across the table, mostly histories and mythological compendiums focused on Earth and Namek, with the documents mainly outlining World Trade Fleet incursions into Earth and other systems. Information traveled slowly, and most of what Kanrin was able to gather was based on the testimonial of fallen souls who had been sent to heaven in the aftermath of this attack or that. But it painted a rather bleak picture, one which the meeting had been adjourned to discuss.
He rose from the table, stepping up onto the bench to better draw attention given his diminutive height. He cleared his throat to signal he meant to speak, before settling his staff down before him. "I'm sure this information comes as no surprise to any of you, particularly those of you who are only here because of dying in battles similar to these. My duty here in Otherworld does not, technically speaking, permit me to meddle so directly in the affairs of the living. However, it is becoming increasingly clear to me that the situation is dire, and some of those most capable of ensuring the self-determination of planets and peoples are here, dead before their time..."
"... so, I'm here to announce three things. First, from now on this compound will be dedicated to the cause of ensuring that very self-determination: the right of those living to live free of expansionist empires or mercantilist invasion. In a word, we will now overtly dedicate ourselves to the betterment of not just this world, but the worlds below us." He cleared his throat. "Secondly, achieving this will require me to make a trip to Earth. I may be gone up to a month, perhaps even a month-and-a-half, but I will return. There is a particular cause I feel I need to pursue, relating to old stories of Earthling 'deities'."
He nodded once, glancing from person to person to gauge their reactions until finishing. "Finally. While I am gone, this establishment and all of its functions will be run by Yogu. Provided he does his homework on time each and every night, he is to be my representative until I return."

Yogu is rudely awoken by a knocking at his door. " HUH WHA IS THIS WHO IS IN HERE!" After getting his bearings and getting off the floor that he had fallen on, he stumbles to the door. " Yeah, what is it?" Greeting him was one of the Ogres who lived here, and they trained with each other on occasion. " Hey. Kanrin's having a meeting right now and he needed you to be there." Yogu closes the door and gets dressed in his usual attire. " Alright. Guess I'll go see what this is all about before doing some training." Yogu arrives at the garden just as Kanrin steps onto the bench. He was expected it to just be a few other people that were training here, but there were a surprising amount of other fighters. " Hey Kanrin why are we having a meetin-" Kanrin began to speak. He explained that the situation in the world of the living had grown 'dire' and that he was going to have to announce some things. The first thing Kanrin announced made him very happy. This place wasn't going to be just for training dead people and Ogres anymore according to Kanrin. He didn't know how they were going to help people in the world of the living, but Kanrin probably had a plan. Next, Kanrin said he was going to be taking a trip to Earth. He mentioned something at the end about Earthing deities. " Hmm... It kind of sucks that Kanrin won't be here to help me train, but if his trip to Earth has something to do with the Dragon Balls, then it's probably for the best." The next thing that Kanrin said made Yogu's jaw drop. Apparently, while Kanrin was gone Yogu would be in charge of the Kanrin's Compound. " WH-WHAT?! I CAN'T TAKE CARE OF AN ENTIRE COMPOUND!" Yogu was terrified. Doing Kanrin's homework and finding time to train was already difficult enough. " Kanrin why are you having me run this place?! Some of the other guys here are wayyyy more capable of running such a big place like this!"
OOC: Yogu is terrified of responsibility.

"You'll be fine," Kanrin assured Yogu, albeit with a dismissive wave of his hand. "It may seem like a lot of work, but it really isn't. You just have to budget your time and manage the operation around here. Occasionally help teach a newer fighter a trick or two, something you'd know as a more seasoned fighter, even at your age. Besides, if this trip goes well, you'll need all the training you can get... and sometimes the best way to learn something is to teach it, if that makes any sense."
He took a moment to consider his own statement, before deciding that it probably didn't make sense. He turned to Yogu at that, hopping off of the bench to regard him properly. "Think of it like this -- if I teach you to do something, and you learn to do it, then you know how to do that thing! It's a simple concept. But then if you're asked to teach someone else to do that thing, and you can't really explain why you're doing it, what it is, or even how to do it beyond basic imitation, then you don't really know that thing. Knowing how to teach is the greatest confirmation of your training!"
He offered a single, satisfied nod. "Besides. You're going to be training here anyways. What's a little more responsibility? ... Just don't burn anything down. And remember to lock the doors. Oh -- and if any other Shinjin show up, be very suspicious that they're here as competitors. Especially if it's that Erva," he made a face at the name alone. "She's so spoiled, I'm pretty sure she's never worked a day in her life. In fact, she's probably never even heard the word 'work' before..."
He cleared his throat again, hastily. "B-but, that's just a personal opinion! By all means, be friendly with her. Just don't let her inside."

Kanrin reassured Yogu that there wouldn't be a lot of work. Yogu looked at all the people that were there at the meeting. Then at the massive facility they all used to train. " What does he mean that's not a lot of work?! I can barely find time to do all that training and studying. I barely have time to hang out with Nashi! How the HFIL am I supposed to fit this in?" Kanrin then said something about how teaching something is the best way to learn it? Yogu was very confused by the statement. But with managing the facility and everything else already filling his schedule, what if someone new came in and he needed to help teach them? Yogu was completely lost now. Kanrin hopped from his bench and walked through the small crowd of Ogres and Ghosts. He explains what he meant a little better, it did make sense that teaching someone a technique or fighting style would be the ultimate test when it came to knowing the training. Kanrin added onto this by saying that, since Yogu would already be training here, what's the problem with him doing a little more around the place. Yogu hated to admit it, but it made sense. " Alright... I guess I could be in charge of this place for a month. And only a month! If you aren't back by then I'm passing the role of leadership to one of these guys. Still don't really understand why you wouldn't be passing the role over to one of them." Kanrin reminds him to not burn anything down, to lock the doors and some other things about safety that Yogu was toooootally listening to. What surprised Yogu was Kanrin's insistence on keeping out other Shinjin. Apparently, other Shinjin were competitors with Kanrin's facility. Then Kanrin mentioned Erva. For a second, Yogu had no idea who Kanrin was talking about. Then when he mentioned the spoiled part, Yogu figured out who Erva was. " Yeah, yeah, I'll be friendly with her." Yogu waited for a couple of seconds, looking at the others who were at the meeting. They just seemed to be watching Kanrin and himself talk. " So uhhh, when are you going to be leaving?"

"I'll be leaving in a day or two," the Shinjin answered, gesturing towards the entrance to the training hall before starting in that direction himself. The others gathered quickly began to discuss amongst themselves the finer points of the meeting, while Kanrin pushed the doors of the hall open with his staff and stepped in. With everyone else outside, it was eerily quiet within, and the echo of Kanrin's voice within the facility were all the more noticeable. "I would like to make the trip as short as possible, but you know how these things go. So I thought a month was for the best."
He cleared his throat, coming to a stop near the area littered with punching bags. "I don't want you to get your hopes up here, as anything could go wrong, and ultimately the responsibility here lay with the mortals that I make contact with. Whoever they turn out to be. But one of my objectives will be to set into motion your resurrection, along with your friend Nashi. You two have grown in strength considerably since you first showed up here, and I expect over the next month you will grow even further. As much as I hate to send you back into danger, I think... you died too early."
Although Kanrin wasn't confident he had trained Yogu sufficiently, the programme having just begun, he figured it made more sense to get the ball rolling. If Yogu and Nashi remained in the Afterlife long enough, they would be at a risk for reincarnation, and they were owed longer, fuller lives before that could happen. Not to mention, their skills were in dire need, if the World Trade Fleet really could muster the forces that were rumoured.
"We can train more before I go, and you will have a schedule to follow while I'm gone, as always."

As Yogu follows Kanrin into the training hall, the Shinjin says that he'll be leaving in a day or two. " Wow, that's really short notice..." Yogu began to mentally prepare himself for the task of being in charge of the whole facility while his Shinjin sensei was gone. Then, Kanrin told him in his now echoey voice that the month was an estimate. " He could be gone for even longer?!" Yogu had said earlier that he was going to hand the reigns over to someone else if the month was up and Kanrin wasn't back, but he had a feeling Kanrin wouldn't be happy with him doing that. It was like he said, leading the facility is a part of the training. But, as sad as the conversation had been making Yogu so far, it began to brighten up. His suspicions were correct! Kanrin was going down to Earth to get things started on his and Nashi's resurrection! Kanrin was a little worried though, the Shinjin notes that both Yogu and Nashi have grown in strength a lot while training in Other World, but it would definitely be more dangerous than it was when they left the world of the living. " Yeah, I can't imagine how much damage the WTF have done, and I agree that I died too early. Going against the strongest bad guys during the Satan City attack definitely wasn't a good idea. But if Nashi and I do get resurrected, we're gonna raise some hell for those guys, no matter how many of them there are!" Yogu was getting pumped up now, and he wanted to train as much as possible with Kanrin before he left. Then, when Kanrin said that they could train some more before he left, Yogu got into his fighting stance. " ALRIGHT! LET'S TRAIN RIGHT NOW!"
OOC: Yogu is ready for more training!

Kanrin nodded once to Yogu's demand for more training, before turning and walking away from the youth. For a moment, it almost seemed like he was just going to abandon him in place... until he snapped the end of his staff onto the ground. A massive slab of rock, formed into a perfect cube, landed in the center of the room. Greyish-brown in tone, it was both far more resilient than average rock, yet much less so when compared to some of the more hardy materials around the Otherworld. A balance between strength and workability. He tapped the top of his staff against the stone to indicate it, as if Yogu could possibly have missed its arrival.
"You're getting pretty good at channeling your ki into different items, but that's a skill you can always improve. So before we launch into any proper sparring session, of which I am certain Polaire will be more than happy to join you, I would like for you to try this. Channel your energy into it as if if were a sword or a staff or something like that. Keep turning up the temperature until you can't push any more energy into it, but... don't put so much in that it breaks!"
He stepped away from the stone to return to Yogu's side, though in truth he was just trying to add some distance in-case he managed to make the stone explode with energy. He was getting quite powerful, after all. "Think of it like a kettle! You need to put enough heat into the water to make it boil, but if you boil it too long, it boils over and the water starts evaporating. Something like that."
"There's a point to this, trust me!"

Kanrin gives the pumped up fighter a nod before turning and walking away. " Hey Kanrin, I thought we were gonna train...?" After a few more seconds, Yogu got lost in thought. " Guess I'll have to train on my own. What should I start with? Should I see how long I can fly for-" He's cut off and brought back to reality when Kanrin taps the ground with his Staff. There was a perfect block of some rock. " What is this? I've never seen it before." Yogu assumed it was just some rock found in Other World while Kanrin explained the first step of the training session. Yogu was going to practice channeling Ki. " Sounds good! I haven't done much practicing aside from using the Kendo Stick, so this'll be... Interesting." Yogu sits down cross-legged and slaps his hands onto the side of the block of stone. " Gotta think of it as a kettle, huh? This'll be easy." An aura flares around Yogu for a second, before disappearing. Yogu begins to struggle for a moment, but then an even bigger aura erupts from the perfectly-shaped block of stone! " See! I knew this'd be easy! Just like a kettle- AH CRAP!" The stone began to crack. Yogu began to struggle even harder than before. " CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!" The stone began to crack in even more places, each crack going deeper than the last. " How the HFIL do I control how much Ki I send into it?!" Yogu digs his fingernails into the now almost destroyed block and tries his hardest to do something! But he didn't really have a clue what to do. " Think! If Kanrin said it's like a kettle... How do I stop it from boiling over?! I guess if this was a kettle you'd turn down the heat, but... I'M ALREADY IN MY BASE FORM! This is as low temperature as it gets!" Yogu continues to sit there and panic, trying to figure some way to stop the now almost inevitable explosion. The aura around the block lights up the entire training room in an almost blinding light! " What do I do when I'm about to punch something with Ki Overdrive? I guess I just focus on my fist as I go in for the punch... But how is that supposed to work for a block?" Without any other option, Yogu began to stare intently at the center of the block. " Just concentrate on the center of the block... Focus everything into the center and keep it there!" As he began to focus at the center of the block, the light from the aura started to dwindle. After a couple of seconds, it was reduced to a faint light, then a glow. The aura was now incredibly faint. " I-I did it! Alright!" Yogu excitement fades as he remembers what Kanrin had said, he wanted Yogu to put enough energy into it to the point where it almost breaks. Yogu began to focus onto the block again, letting the energy which he had focused into the center expand. Now, the aura was much more visible, to the point where it lit up the whole room. It wasn't the same blinding light as before, and there was no more cracking. " Kanrin! I did it for real this time!" After a few more seconds of channeling ki, Yogu stops and stands up. " Well, that was scary. I almost destroyed the training hall! So what's next?"
OOC: Yogurt Man did a thing without blowing up the facility.

Kanrin kept taking little paces backwards as more and more cracks began to show in the stone. He hadn't quite prepared for the off-chance Yogu failed, and as he struggled... the Shinjin's eyes flicked around the room, alight with newfound panic. Between expensive training equipment, library books, people's personal belongings and the architecture itself, there was a whole lot here to lose if this went south. Thankfully, Yogu soon got the hang of the exercise, and after nearly acing it once, doubled down and managed to do it perfectly a second time. The Shinjin managed a smile at that. "Very good. It's not always easy for people to learn to handle ki transferal like that, even if it's already the basis of your attacks. Precision is something sorely lacking, particularly in some Earthlings..." he frowned a moment. "Though perhaps less so than in some aliens born with this sort of power. But -- anyways..."
He tapped his staff against the ground again, the head once more sparkling to life with magic. Another large block of stone appeared in the center of the room, this one made with a different material. It was plain white, but visibly brittle with small air-pockets and little cracks appearing before anything had even touched it. It certainly was some sort of stone, or at least it looked to be, but it was as frail as densely-packed dust. If it was a challenge to hold the previous block together, this was just getting into the realm of unfair. Still, the Shinjin had faith that Yogu would manage a good showing. Even if he didn't succeed wholly, just being able to keep it together for a few moments would be more than enough to impress.
"This will challenge your skill a little more. Remember the kettle of water? This time, you're boiling water in a plastic bag and you're going to need a miracle to keep the bag from melting..." he winced at his own metaphor. Okay, maybe it wasn't the best. "Or... something like that."

Kanrin had seemed a bit worried during the training, but he seemed to be fine now. As the tiny pink shinjin talked about how difficult ki transferal can be, Yogu stretches. " Yeah, being precise is definitely something I'll work on while you're gone. I've been practicing with the Kendo Stick and I've gotten a lot better with it." Yogu walks over to the corner of the training hall where he keeps his Kendo Stick and pulls it off the rack he had bought at the Market. When he comes back, there's another perfectly square block of rock standing where the other one once stood. This one was different though, it was white and already looked cracked. Kanrin says that this block will be more like boiling water in a... Plastic bag? Yogu gives Kanrin a confused look, but sits back down and looks at the rock. " So this'll be more difficult, huh?" Yogu pokes the corner closest to him and it falls off and turns into a fine dust on impact with the floor. " Kanrin. You've gotta be kidding me. This has to be a joke right?" This was getting way past unfair now. Yogu sighs, and lightly places his hands on the sides of the block. Little pieces of the "rock" crumble and fall to the ground. Yogu's aura shoots out around him again, and he takes a deep breath. " Just gotta focus on the center of the block! Focus a small amount of Ki into it, and let a little bit more in at a time..." Yogu begins to slowly channel ki into the block and after a few more seconds a faint aura forms around it. " So far so good. Guess I have to put more ki into this thing... This can only end well." The blocks aura grows bigger and brighter as Yogu channels more ki. Surprisingly, the block didn't seem anymore damaged than it was when Yogu started. That is, until Yogu begins to struggle. The entire process of channeling little amounts of Ki was growing more difficult for Yogu. And he was starting to slip. Suddenly, one massive crack appears on the corner of the block. It continues to grow bigger and bigger as Yogu tries his best to control himself. But the crack formed too quick for him to react. A quarter of the block explodes into a massive cloud of dust. Yogu hacks and coughs as the dust fill his lungs. " YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!" Yogu manages to focus the ki back on the center for a moment. " THIS IS REALLY UNFAIR KANRIN!" But, the moment passes and the aura around the block gets bigger and bright than the block before it! Another deep crack starts to form and Yogu begins to panic. " No! I'm NOT gonna lose to some BLOCK OF DUST!" Ki shoots out around Yogu again, and the strain on his arms becomes visible as they begin to burn from the amount of Ki being focused into his arms. First, the hairs start to singe off but then small burn marks become visible. " AGHHH!" Yogu continues to scream from both the pain and the intensity of controlling his ki. Yogu begins to count how long he's able to control his ki. " fifty-eight... fifty-nine... SIXTY SECONDS!" After a full minute of controlling his ki, he snaps and all of his ki enters the block, and it explodes, sending dust everywhere. Yogu stands up and looks at his arms, they weren't burned too badly, but they had gone completely numb. " I did it for as long as I could, Kanrin..." Yogu takes deep breaths and immediately coughs up dust. He stands up. " What's next? I can take on anything you throw at me! ... Just maybe no more blocks of ACTUAL dust. Also, can you heal my arms? Please?"
OOC: Yogurt Man fills room with dust and burns his arms. Wasn't expecting this to be such a long post.

As dust began to fill the room, Kanrin took another couple steps back and covered his mouth with his sleeve. It proved not to be much of a help, as one breath filled his lungs with dust and he ended up having a coughing fit... more or less of his own design. He squinted through the growing fog to see... a burned, but successful Yogu standing alongside the brittle creation. Maybe it was a good idea for training's sake, but it would take days to clear out the mess that was made because of it. He made a mental note to himself: next time, take this outside.
"R-right," he managed, in between more coughing. "Next we'll do something. Less. Less messy, alright?"
He looked around the room, fishing for ideas now. In truth, he had expected it to take more time to master that particular bit of ki control. After a moment, he waved his hand and hurried outside, opening the door to much-needed fresh air. Even if dust started pouring outside immediately afterwards. He hurried his way over to a wide stretch of grass outside the facility, before turning on his heel to face Yogu.
He spun his staff forward first, the energy coming off of it this time having a soothing effect as it flowed towards Yogu. One of his minor healing spells, intended to ease the pain and wipe away the minor burns that had begun to appear on the youth's arms. "Very well! Next, we should try something a little more difficult and a little less frustrating at once. You've proven you can be precise in controlling your ki, but let's run through one more exercise. This time, precision in actually launching your attacks!"
A wave of his staff signaled the materialization of a handful of new training items arranged around the yard. This time, small but extremely dense weights that looked like they were designed to be fit around a barbell of some sort. Given the heavy thuds they made as they appeared on the ground, it was safe to say they were heavier than your average Earth-variety weights.
"I want you to pick those up, hurl them into the air as high as you can, and then blast them while they're on their way back down. One at a time!"

Yogu takes a look around the training hall. That dust wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. " Damnit... This mess wouldn't be here if I had just been more careful. I'll get started on cleaning right after we're done with training, Kanrin!" Yogu was glad to hear that they'd be doing something less messy. " That's fine by me. I feel like I'm becoming a dust bunny." Even better, they'd be able to do it outside! When they arrive at the stretch of grass, Yogu sits down and waits for Kanrin to explain the next step in training. All the while gritting his teeth and trying to ignore the burning pain from his arms. Luckily, Kanrin quickly heals them up and the pain disappears. Before Yogu had a second to thank the Shinjin for healing him, they were already moving onto the next part of training. Yogu had to throw tiny weights into the air and blast them with ki! The young fighter was a little worried. He couldn't recall the last time he had used a ki blast. He knew he had used them before, but it had been a long time. " Okay... Sounds easy enough..." Yogu walks over to one of the tiny weights that were scattered across the yard. " You sure I should be throwing something this tiny? It might just disappear in the sky and land on some unlucky Ogre." Yogu gives a shrug and tries to lift it. The weight was a lot more heavier than he was expecting. He had heard the dense thud that came from the weights hitting the ground, but he certainly wasn't expecting this. After a couple more seconds of struggle, Yogu begins to spin for a few moments, before chucking the weight into the sky! After a few seconds of disappearing into the sky, it comes careening back down towards the ground! " Here I go!" Yogu fires a volley of ki blasts towards the weight! Unfortunately, all of the shots either completely miss the mark or fly off to the side just before hitting it. " What the HFIL?! Is my aim really that bad?!" Yogu tries desperately to hit the weight, but he just isn't experienced with ranged attacks. In fact, his lack of ability when it came to range is why he had decided to pick up sword fighting, it gave him a few more feet to hit his target. But his reasons for sword-wielding wasn't important right now. The weight was about to land, and it was coming straight towards Yogu and Kanrin! " CRAP!" Yogu tries one more ki blast, and it narrowly misses the weight. It comes crashing down right beside Kanrin! The weight leaves a tiny crater in it's wake. " Uhhh... I'm sorry Kanrin! I'll do better this time!" Yogu briskly walks over to the next weight, and quickly spins around and throws it into the sky! " I-I can get it this time!" The new weight comes crashing towards the ground, and Yogu fires as many ki blasts as possible, all missing just like the last time. " Ah come on! I'm not failing this time! If I won against a block of dust, I can win against some dumb weight!" Yogu runs into the path of the weight, determined to shoot it out of the sky. " It's just a straight shot now! Just don't fuck it up!" The weight was about to land on his head. This was Yogu's only chance to stop the weight from hitting him and he fires the ki blast! Just before the weight hits him, the Ki blast connects and Yogu gets a face full of smoke! The weight is blown apart and the young warrior is launched backward into the dirt. After a few seconds of laying in the dirt, Yogu jumps back up. " Kanrin, do I have to do the rest of the weights? As you can very clearly see, my aim isn't great."
OOC: Yogurt Man almost gets killed a second time by a weight.

It was almost a relief to see Yogu struggling with this new challenge after he had aced the previous two so easily. At least this gave Kanrin some idea on what he had to work on. The first weight landed so close to Kanrin he had to leap to the side just to be sure it wouldn't clip him, while the second throw nearly landed right on top of Yogu! At least that one he managed to blast at point blank. The Shinjin let out a little breath of relief when he blasted it apart safely.
"That's the best reason to keep going!" Kanrin replied to Yogu, marching over away from the field to give the youth some more room. "But try throwing them forward a bit more, up and over so that they don't nearly land on you. I don't think there's anything important over that way--" he pointed away from the compound. "So you shouldn't have to worry if you don't quite hit them. Just don't throw it on someone and you'll be fine. I know you're mostly a close-ranged fighter, but think of the advantages of being able to fight competently from afar!"
He nodded sagely at that. "If you were to enter into a fight with someone who, like you, specializes in using their ki in the form of devastating close-range attacks, then being able to retreat and fire from a distance would help to wear them out while you recover for another proper attack!" Kanrin waved his staff around as he spoke, as if he was illustrating the imaginary scenario in question. Of course, it was about as fluent was someone gesturing with their hands, and so really did nothing but make a passing ogre nervous that something was about to materialize over his head on the road.
"Besides, if we only train things you're already good at, then you'll never really improve."

Yogu was a little disappointed that they were going to stick with throwing around weights. But, Yogu had decided that what Kanrin was saying is right. He couldn't keep training things he was already good with. And he was way too focused with close-ranged fighting. Yogu gives a defeated sigh and walks to the closest weight. "If I hit an Ogre I'm blaming this on you." Yogu picks up the heavy weight and spins around before letting it fly! As it comes down towards the nearby forest, Yogu lets out another volley of ki blasts! But like all the other times before, they all miss. The weight crashes down into the nearby ground, taking down a lone standing tree. "KAMI DAMNIT! HOW AM I THIS BAD?!" Yogu runs over to the next weight and chucks it into the sky! He fails to hit it again, and his rage continues to build. "STUPID KI! JUST HIT THE DAMN WEIGHT!" The weight crashes into the dirt.
After a couple more minutes of missing the weights and destroying the once quiet and serene hillside, Yogu was down to the last 3 weights. Yogu grabs the closest one and chucks it, not even bothering to spin around! Instead of it going into the air, it just flies into the hill ripping the hilltop off and sending it crashing into the plains below. "YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME! HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO HELP DEFEAT A FLEET OF ARCOSIANS OR THE STARGOONS IF I CAN'T HIT SOME STUPID WEIGHT?!" Just before Yogu throws a tantrum, he calms himself. "Alright... It's just like with the block, right? I just have to focus. Take my time, focus, and just shoot it down. This should be easy! If pretty much any other fighter can shoot ki blasts with precision, then so can I!"
Yogu walks over to the next weight and picks it up. He looks at it for a moment before spinning and throwing it into the air! The weight soars into the sky, going out of view. Two tiny balls of ki form into Yogu's hands. The weight comes back into view, and it comes crashing down towards the hillside! "JUST LIKE WITH THE BLOCKS!" Yogu fires six ki blasts at the weight! Each one curves off to the side just before they connect. "COME ON! ... I just have to keep focusing. Stay calm, and focus..." Yogu fires two ki blasts at the weight, just as they were about to connect to the ground below! The first one also curves off to the side, but the second one connects! In a tiny explosion, the weight is broken into many pieces and launched across the hillside! "FINALLY! I DID IT!" Yogu rushes over to the next weight and throws it into the sky! Yogu fires more ki blasts, but none of them hit this time. The weight crashes into the hill. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"

It seemed that even with a bit of added practice, Yogu's aim was going to take quite a lot of time to actually improve. As he tossed the weights into the air, he seemed to manage to miss basically all of his shots. The more he missed, the more frustrated he got, and in Kanrin's opinion that would only make him miss more. Shots were flying past, curving away, doing everything but hitting right up until he finally managed to catch one of them in a blast... only to miss the next one.
"I think I see what you're doing wrong," Kanrin finally spoke as he looked over what was left of his front yard. "You're firing too many blasts all at once, which more or less destroys any semblance of accuracy you have. To make matters worse, it doesn't look like you're really leading properly. Instead of thinking about it like the blocks, think about blocking. You raise your arm to or leg or whatever to try to catch the oncoming attack where it's going to be -- not where it already is!"
Kanrin lifted his staff up to the air. "Let's try something a little less frustrating, hopefully. We'll still work on your aim, but instead of you tossing the weights up over and over and straining yourself, I'll materialize targets for you to hit. Try to judge the distance and estimate how far ahead of them you'll need to shoot." He nodded once, before setting his mind onto the task at hand. He began to jut his staff upwards, time and time again, creating little clay targets which soared up into the air freely. These were light and brittle and would be easily destroyed if hit, but they moved quickly and after a few moments, they were many in number.
"Do your best!"
