For a moment, Yogu was hoping they'd move on to something else. But, this was Kanrin so they were going to continue with ki blast training until he had mastered it. Yogu agreed with all of Kanrin's criticisms, he was definitely firing way too many at once. He was just banking off one of them hitting the weights by pure luck. And after thinking about it for a moment, it did make sense that shooting at where they were didn't make a whole lot of sense. " I just gotta guess where they're going to be moving? Is it really that easy?" Kanrin even offered to materialize targets in the air for Yogu to hit, making it even easier for him. " Fine. Although I'm gonna come back to those weights and master them before you get back from Earth!" With a wave of his staff, Kanrin materializes many targets in the sky, and Yogu starts getting to work. " Alright! Aim at where they're gonna be! That should be easy!" Yogu holds both palms out towards the targets and takes a moment to look at the brittle targets. " These should be easy to hit. Just gotta remember what Kanrin said!" Yogu focuses in on one specific target off to the left. It was coming towards the ground quickly, and he had barely enough time to fire! Yogu aims between the Target and the ground and fires the ki blast! The ki blast connects and the target explodes! " Finally! TAKE THAT YOU DAMN TARGETS!" But, Yogu was moving rather slow. Several of the targets had already fallen on their own and broke apart. " At least those aren't leaving craters in Kanrin's front yard?" Yogu tries to pick up the pace, firing with both his hands at two separate targets. The one that he was focusing on more gets hit and explodes. " DAMN IT- No! I gotta remain calm. If I get angry, I'll just lose control and start firing randomly like before." Yogu takes a deep breath and focuses back on the targets. Kanrin was still materializing targets, so he had plenty to choose from. The young fighter in training aims below another target and it explodes! This process continues, but he is quickly gaining speed. After a couple more minutes, he's able to take out a target in a matter of seconds. " My aim has definitely improved, but I still can't keep up with these targets... I can still only get about eight targets a minute." Yogu looks at the hillside and sees a growing pile of smashed targets. " Ugh... This is gonna take a while." Despite the disappointing amount of targets hitting the ground, Yogu continues firing ki blasts. A few minutes later, and his speed has improved. Yogu looks at a target and he instinctively aims below it and the ki blast makes contact! " I'm getting a lot better at this! Right Kanrin?" Yogu was happy with his progress but after another quick glance at the pile of broken targets, he gets angry. He drops his hands to his sides and turns to Kanrin, trying to get the pile of missed targets out of his view. " Let's move on to something else now, okay? I can just train my precision while you're gone." Yogu was no longer so sure that he'd want to go back to the weights while Kanrin was gone.

ON THE SELF-DETERMINATION OF SYSTEMS| Kanrin's PL: 1,500 |
Kanrin watched on with a faint smile as Yogu began to land a few of his blasts. He may not have been getting them all, but the fact that he was at least striking some of them did show fast improvement. When he finally finished off the last of those he could hit and turned back to Kanrin, the Shinjin nodded in confirmation. "Yes, I think you're right. That's something best learned on your own time -- perhaps you can get one of the ogres to help you if you can find one of suitable power. Aiming a long-ranged blast here and there during sparring may be an even more effective way of improving your skills in that regard. But--"
He turned away, towards the other half of the front-yard, away from all of the ruined targets. As he walked, he began to gesture here and there with his staff, beginning to construct some sort of new training apparatus for Yogu's benefit. This time, it was a little more straight-forward than throwing and chasing after weights, as a series of heavy, thin stones were erected all around the yard, shaped almost like dominoes. They were made of the same hardened material as before, but thin enough that it wouldn't be any great struggle to break them. In all, there were half a dozen rows of the stones by the time he finished his job, and he let out a tired breath at that. Using that much magic took quite a bit out of him.
"--We're back to Ki Control," he finally finished. "I have no doubt that you're one of the most powerful Earthlings around. In fact, you're probably one of the most powerful Konatsians around as well... but I do believe you excel primarily with quick attacks and heavy attacks, as evidenced in your fight with Nashi. One thing I believe may be beneficial for you to learn is how to manage more precise shots."
He waved his staff again to create another row of stones, this one facing out towards the road. The material on these was different, a weaker grade of stone to compensate for Kanrin's own lack of power in contrast to Yogu. He stepped over to the stones, taking a few paces back. "Now, you don't need to specialize in this sort of attack as I have, but knowing the principles behind it could be useful for you in learning to use your own techniques."
At that, the Shinjin pointed his finger towards the rows of stone. A small spark of ki appeared at the very tip, soon growing into a radiating white orb about the size of a large marble. After a moment of focus, he released the attack in the form of a powerful, but deceptively thin beam.
"Kanrikosen!" he called as the energy burst forward.
The beam jetted towards the stones like a laser, striking the first of the targets dead in the center. It burned against it for just a couple moments before crashing through and searing through the next, and the next, until it made it all the way through the dominoes without knocking a single over. He released a quiet breath before lowering his hand.
"Attacking carefully can sometimes be just as effective as attacking with great power. Try to think of how to harness your own ki to manage a similar effect. It won't always be the way to go, but it can be useful from time to time."

To Yogu's relief, Kanrin agreed to move on! The shinjin adds that Yogu should try to use more ki blasts during sparring and he makes a mental note of it. " The only way to get better at something is to do it over and over again." Yogu sits down and thinks about what they've done so far while Kanrin conjures up the next step in the training. It was clear that he needed to work on aiming and using ki blasts in general. " I should also start doing some endurance training so I can channel ki into something for much longer. Maybe constantly channeling ki into frail items would be good. I'm gonna have to pick up something similar to the block of dust-" Yogu continued to ramble to himself for a minute or two until he was snapped out of it by Kanrin's explanation of the next part of training. They'd be doing Ki Control, which disappointed Yogu for a moment. The Ki Channeling training already involved a lot of controlling ki already, so he had thought he was doing great with controlling ki. Another interesting thing that Kanrin said was that Yogu might be one of the strongest Konatsians. It was fairly evident that he was really strong compared to most Humans, but Konatsians? Yogu hadn't really thought about it before. He knew he was stronger than his father, and his Grandfather died before he had learned to sense energy, which meant he didn't have a good idea of what was strong for a Konatsian. " Am I really that strong?" Thinking about his family made Yogu happy, but then he remembered they were stuck in Satan City, or whatever it was called now, under Chamil's magic. " So I'm just one of the strongest out there, huh? Well then by the time you come back I WILL be the strongest!" Yogu watches Kanrin demonstrate what he had to do. The tiny orb of ki that appeared at the tip of his fingernails didn't seem very special. " I'm supposed to do that? How is that going to be effective- WOAH THAT'S AMAZING SHOW ME HOW TO DO THAT!" Kanrin had shot down the row of stones, leaving a hole in the center of each one! " What'd you call it? Kanrikosen? When you come back, I'll have mastered that technique too!" Yogu jumps over to the next row of stones and points his index finger out towards them. " So, how should I go about harnessing my ki to shoot through these...? Should I just try using Ki Overdrive through my finger and then trying to shoot a ki blast through it? That makes the most sense, right?" Yogu takes a deep breath and his whole arm tenses up! A dark blue aura surrounds him, before disappearing and reappearing around his arm. Slowly, the aura creeps up to his fingertip and disappears. A faint marble-sized orb of ki appears at the end of his finger. " Come on... Just a little more..." Finally, the orb of ki fully materialized. " KANRIKOSEN!" Losing control, the tiny orb of ki becomes a normal ki blast and slams into the first rock, causing an explosion! Yogu is flung backward, getting hurt from his own attack! " DAMNIT! FIRST THE TARGETS, AND NOW THIS! How come you were able to do it so easily?! And if I can channel ki so well, then why the HFIL can't I control it?!" Yogu begins to freak out, picking up the thin stones and slamming them into the ground. " I CAN'T AFFORD TO BE MAKING ANY MISTAKES ANYMORE! The World Trade Fleet could conquer the Earth at any moment, the Stargoons are probably off getting stronger, and I MIGHT BE GETTING RESURRECTED SOON! BUT I'M STUCK HERE, FUCKING UP THE BASICS!" In a rage, he fires a barrage of ki blasts at the stones. Yogu destroys every single row of stones in sight. He sits down and looks at the destruction he created, not saying a word.

ON THE SELF-DETERMINATION OF SYSTEMS| Kanrin's PL: 1,500 |
"Wait, you need to--!" Kanrin tried to stop Yogu from attempting the blast so suddenly, but he didn't get to him in time. The orb started out similar to his, but soon erupted into a full ki blast. He was far enough away that he the resulting explosion only knocked him back a couple feet, but it was a shock nonetheless. Even worse was what followed. While he was still shaking out his head and getting to his feet, a suddenly enraged Yogu began to destroy the targets and shouting in an emotional mess. He winced, but he didn't approach yet, waiting until all the targets were smoldering and the young man was sitting down in silence.
For a long moment, he didn't say anything, preferring to instead let him cool down a little or at least reflect on his actions before speaking. He only approached after several long moments -- a full minute or two might have even passed, in fact. He kept his voice quiet. "The Kanrikosen isn't as easy to perform as it looks. It took me years to manage it correctly, and even Polaire struggled with it for a few months. You learn fast enough that I do have faith in you that you'll have it mastered within the month if you want to, but it will take more than one try." He held up his finger to demonstrate again, creating the same little orb. "It's different than an ordinary ki blast because your focus needs to be placed less on the ki you're creating in the moment, and more on where you want it to be. It's hard to explain, but think of it less like a blast and more like a kind of laser or ray. It's fast, thin, and piercing, and so you need to be in the right state of mind to use it."
At that, he allowed the orb to evaporate into mid-air, folding his hands behind his back to regard the seated Earthling. "I'm not going to give you a speech about the importance of the basics, but it is good that you're recognizing the areas you're struggling with. Focus on them and you'll find yourself improving as a fighter far more efficiently than if you only trained to your strengths." He hesitated a long moment, before finishing with another thought. "... You may be struggling with the basics from time to time, but many of your enemies will be missing them entirely. Powerful aliens and demons tend to be ignorant to the fundamentals, and by the time you face off against their kind again, the very fact that you've worked on these will give you an edge."

" Stupid, stupid! Even worse than messing up the basics, I got mad over basic training..." Yogu had calmed down significantly from his tantrum, but he was still angry at himself. About a minute passes before anything happens aside from Yogu staring at the mess he had made. Kanrin speaks up, saying that the Kanrikosen takes more than one attempt to master. Yogu was about to yell at Kanrin and say that he already knows this, but he manages to hold back his anger. Kanrin gives a deeper explanation to how ki blasts like the Kanrikosen work and Yogu listens intently, trying to understand every single thing he says. He tries to make a comment, but when his mouth opens, another surge of anger comes and it takes all he could muster to not scream in rage. Yogu goes back into his motionless state, remaining silent. He continues to listen to what Kanrin has to say and agreed with it. Yogu had a strong doubt that most people in large groups like the World Trade Fleet had any formal training. " Those WTF bastards all just rely on their natural strength, and that'll be their downfall." When Kanrin finishes with what he has to say, Yogu stands up and keeps his back to the Shinjin. "Hey, Kanrin." He turns around and gives Kanrin a big smile and a thumbs up. " Sorry about that, won't happen again! I'll get back to training right now!" Of course, this was fake and Yogu was still extremely angry at himself and didn't want to do any training. But, he didn't want to make Kanrin worry or think anything was wrong. Yogu didn't have time to dwell on doubts and insecurities, he'd have to push those to the side until he was alive again. Yogu takes a step forward and points his finger into the sky. " So I should be thinking about where I want it to go. Makes sense. Just don't focus on the ki." And Yogu does exactly that. He focuses in on a particular pink fluffy cloud that was gliding through the sky. " I'M GONNA RIP THAT DAMN CLOUD TO SHREDS!" The ki at his fingertip shrinks and forms into that marble-sized ball, almost exactly like Kanrin's. " KANRIKOSEN!" To Yogu's surprise, the ball of ki maintains its shape, firing straight through the cloud! But, the beam quickly sputters out and then Yogu accidentally fires a ki blast. " WOAH! Wasn't expecting that... But I kind of managed to pull it off! It probably wouldn't have pierced the rocks though..." Yogu looks over to the pile of rubble and notices the pattern of breaking things into large piles that was forming. " So... What's next?"

Surprisingly, Yogu reacted fairly well to what Kanrin said. It was only moments before he was back on his feet ready to train again. The Shinjin folded his hands behind his back, watching his new attempt at the Kanrikosen: this time, he managed to make it keep its form properly enough to at least pierce through a cloud. It may not have been exactly right, but it was an encouraging sign that he grasped the fundamentals of it. "You could do something similar with your own style of fighting, if you wanted. Think of how you currently funnel ki into yourself to attack -- it might be worth trying to build off of that rather than follow my own technique exactly." He paused a moment, looking over to the mess of rubble that now littered the yard. "I would be happy if you did learn the Kanrikosen, mind you. But only if you think you can do it without taking too much time from other training..."
He frowned at the mess that had become of his yard, only now realizing just how much debris was littered around. That was going to take some time to clean up, and he was probably going to have to pay a few ogres back in favours to get them to handle it. But it was nothing to worry about right now, he supposed. When he turned back to Yogu, he held his hand up, keeping his fingers straight as if he was planning to throw a chop. "If you focused on the front of your hand and thrust forward, you might be able to pierce through things just as easily as a narrow beam could. Likewise, the edge of your hand could let you slice through things for a similar effect... like a knife-edged chop, but taken more literally."
He lifted his shoulders in a shrug before clasping his hands together again. There were plenty of different options for the youth when it came to developing his techniques, and Kanrin worried that he might focus him too much onto something that didn't take advantage of his natural skill-set. The Kanrikosen was, in concept at least, a very useful technique to have. But if Yogu couldn't aim well, then adapting his melee-focused style into something with a similar impact might well find more practical use in battle. It was times like this when the Shinjin silently cursed letting his own training fall to the wayside: it would be much easier to teach if he thought he could spar effectively.
"For now -- I actually wouldn't mind asking you a couple questions," he admitted, starting over to a piece of rubble to settle down atop it. Even if Yogu was calm now, the ease with which he was getting frustrated begged further investigation. "I'm curious as to what you plan to do when you're revived."

Yogu was hoping to speed up the training as much as possible to have some time to calm himself and train with a clear head, but Kanrin certainly wanted to take things slow and go over everything. The young fighter forces himself to listen closely while his anger grows yet again. What Kanrin said interests Yogu, " Hmm... Creating a fusion of the Kanrikosen and Ki Overdrive... That'd be amazing! I think I got a couple of ideas for it too! I'll try to figure something out while you're gone." Kanrin's ideas sounded interesting, but Yogu was determined to create a technique on his own. That'd prove that he was a competent martial artist, right? At this point, Yogu calmed himself enough to move on. " Let's get goin', right Kanrin?" Kanrin sits down on the rubble, and Yogu gets another surge of anger. They didn't have time to just sit around! But Kanrin's question made Yogu sit back down. What was he going to do when he got revived? If he didn't really have a plan then why should he get to be revived? " Well, um..." Yogu takes a minute or two to think about it. " When I first showed up here, Nashi and I made a promise to each other. To become stronger than the Stargoons and become heroes. I'm going to follow through on that promise and beat the Stargoons. To be honest, when I find them I don't know if I'll be able to hold back and not kill those bastards... Then, I'll head to Satan City and see if my parents are okay-" He hadn't even thought about his parents. " Shit, shit! If they were in Satan City during the attack..." Yogu presses his palms against his head and panic quickly spreads across his face. His mind races as he realizes just how much danger his parents could be in. Yogu had been told that Satan City had become a mess after the battle, and the people there had been corrupted. " K-Kanrin... What am I gonna do if my parents died at Satan City? What if they died cause I wasn't able to stop the Stargoons...?" Yogu had no clue if they were even actually dead, but just the possibility shook him to his core. Tears began to well up in his eyes. " I-If they're dead the Dragon Balls can bring them back, right? It can just bring back everyone who died in one wish, right?"

Kanrin's expression fell somewhat in Yogu began to panic over the question of his parents. It wasn't something he had even considered: up until now, he had really only had any contact with the martial artists who died in these sorts of conflicts. The thought made him glance down at his feet, a faint frown forming. Doubt started to claw at him at near the same time as his student: was he really just as aloof as the distant Shinjin he had always hated? Of course there was more to it than the fighters. Although it was obvious something was bothering him, he swallowed his concerns for now and looked up with a forced smile. He had to appear confident -- or at least try.
"They might not be," he answered after a moment. "I don't think the death toll at Satan City was as high as some other battles. But if that did happen, then they could be revived too. I don't know the technicalities, but... I'm going to be gone for around a month, so I can check in on them and make sure they're alright. That way you don't have to worry once I can finally get back to you." He waved his finger through the air, a shimmer of magic dusting through the air before a little notepad appeared along with a rudimentary pen. "Just -- write down their address. But... try not to worry about it, whatever you do. One way or another, if this works you should be back on Earth with your family soon."
He let out a short breath, before his shoulders slumped. "... And you can't blame yourself for that kind of thing, even if the worst happened. It's good to be motivated to make right in the world, but no one person can really fix everything. The defeat at Satan City wasn't your fault and it wasn't Nashi's fault. It was the fault of every martial artist and self-styled hero who sat on the sidelines when the battle began. Anyone who could have done something, but didn't..."
He felt a pang of guilt again. Could he have been there? He claimed Earth as his home away from home, yet he managed to let an entire city be conquered before he even took notice to its recent problems. Maybe he was as much at fault for Yogu's death as the Stargoons were. At that thought, he glanced over towards the debris. Any excuse to save him from looking the youth in the eyes.

Yogu hadn't noticed that Kanrin seemed to be so distraught over what he said. His mind was flooded with horrible thoughts, each more terrifying to him than the last. His hands had gone numb, his mouth was dryer than the Diablo Desert, and he was sweating profusely. He felt like he was going to vomit although there was nothing in his stomach. Yogu was met with silence for a moment, which terrified him even more than the idea of his parents dead. The young fighter momentarily thought that Kanrin had no clue. His silent crying begins to break into a sob before Kanrin began to speak. Yogu was letting his thoughts get the better of him. There was no way his parents were among the dead, right? Suddenly, a notepad and pen plop into his lap, and he does as instructed. Putting his home address, 777 Satan Street, into the notepad. After a couple of seconds of trying to regain his composure, Yogu mumbles out, " H-Here." and hands the notepad back to the Shinjin. Once his composure was fully regained, a question pops into his head. " Hey, speaking of family... My grandfather passed away a few years back, and I'm wondering why I haven't seen him? Heaven seems pretty small and not a lot of people are here. And they all seem new. What happens to people after they've hung out here for a while? They have to be somewhere." Kanrin then moves on to talking about how Yogu shouldn't feel responsible. Yogu listens carefully and agrees. " Yeah, you're right..." This is normally where Yogu would go back to being silent and continue to listen to Kanrin, but he doesn't. "But, Kanrin. I did nothing. All I did there was die. I tried to save my friend, and I got blocked. I managed to take two stargoons and a bug thing away from the main fight with Nashi, and sure I've talked that up like it was some big contribution that saved lives, but the truth is that they killed me in ONE ATTACK! I died in a matter of seconds after leading them away. Nashi fell pretty quickly after, and he probably would've survived too if he had just gone off with that bug thing by himself. I did nothing but get in the way back there..." Yogu takes a long, heavy breath. " I have power, and I've done plenty of training, but I just can't win any fights I'm ever in. If months training with a SHINJIN isn't helping, then I'm probably a lost cause. ... Maybe I'm better off staying dead." It's only after what Yogu says is when he sees the look on Kanrin's face. The Shinjin was faced away, but the look of guilt was clearer than the heavenly sky. Any feelings of immediately disappear from Yogu as he tries his best to cheer the Shinjin up. " O-Oh shit, Kanrin don't feel responsible for what happened at Satan City. It's not your fault, you had Shinjin stuff to do! I don't know exactly what that stuff was, but I'm sure you had a good reason for not coming to Earth." Yogu stands back up and tries to get pumped up for training again. " C-Come on, let's get back to training! I bet you have something really incredible planned next, huh?"

Yogu tried to cheer Kanrin up, but it ended up falling flat on the Shinjin's ears. It would have been reassuring to think that he was just busy with his duties, but in truth he had been doing just as little that day as anyone else. A little bit of paperwork here, a little bit of teaching there. But nothing so important that he couldn't have shown up, if only he'd known. Still, he wasn't about to make the youth feel any worse about himself, and so he rose to his feet and forced another smile. This time, it at least came off a little closer to genuine. "Truthfully, I don't have anything incredible planned. All we've been working on are basics and fundamentals, things you needed to get a little bit better on but that tend to get neglected on Earth..." he hesitated for a moment, considering his earlier words.
"On the subject of your grandfather," he began, his tone measured and careful. "When people die, they have a limited amount of time here usually before they are, in effect, reincarnated to live new lives. If it was only a few years ago, he might still be here somewhere, but he might also have returned to the world of the living, just... as someone else. It's hard to explain, but that's sort of how the universe continually renews itself. And -- as far as being killed in one attack goes, it's nothing to be ashamed about. You had the stomach to defend your city, and that's more than most people can claim."
He hesitated a moment longer, his eyes scanning across the various ruined training implements on display. He could conjure up a few more, but part of him was starting to doubt this was going to be sufficient for individual training. It was all just the start of things he could probably work on better on his own, with more time and patience. "If your problem is bringing your power to bear properly on your opponents, then perhaps the answer is more intensive sparring. I can oversee you and Nashi and see if I can't figure out any problems in your form that appear in the midst of combat. In training it's easy enough to keep your solid grounding in the fundamentals we've been talking about, but it's easy to forget them once push comes to shove."
He kicked up into the air, leaving his staff behind along with the rubble for now, and gestured for Yogu to follow behind him before turning to fly off away from the compound. He meant to go a fairly long distance, though it would be easily covered in just a few minutes by the pair, and should they arrive without issue, they would be situated just above a sparring ring populated by a dozen ogre fighters. Martial artists, boxers, you name it. They didn't seem to be powerful in the same way as fighters like Yogu or Nashi, but they at least knew what they were doing for the level they were at.
"Can you sense their energy?" he asked, after allowing him time to take in his surroundings.

Yogu's attempts at cheering up Kanrin didn't seem to do anything. The guilty look was still plastered across the short pink man's face. But after a moment, the Shinjin got up and a smile grew across his face. Yogu was happy that the Kanrin seemingly got over it, but he had a faint feeling that the smile was just for show. " I hope he doesn't worry about that... There were plenty more people that were already on Earth that could've helped but didn't." Yogu shrugs off the thought and listens to Kanrin. The Shinjin downplayed his training, saying that he was just teaching Yogu the basics. " Hey! Kanrin, that's not true at all! Well, I guess you have been teaching me basics and fundamentals, so you're not entirely wrong- But that's beside the point. Ever since I started training with you, I've been getting so strong so fast! I have a feeling that if I fought the Stargoons when they were at their strength at Satan City I could beat em' no problem!" A moment of silence followed after asking the question about what happens after being in the Otherworld. after a while, Kanrin answers. Yogu was a little distraught at what he heard. " WHAT?! If we're here for too long, we get REINCARNATED?! Kanrin, you've gotta get us resurrected as soon as possible! I don't wanna be reincarnated! My life was just getting started!" Yogu wasn't only afraid for himself, but there was also his Grandfather. If he was really gone for good, then the young martial artist's plan of resurrecting his relative was done. What Kanrin said at the end of his speech on reincarnation comforted Yogu, however. The idea of it simply just being the Universe renewing itself so that life may continue was nice. Yogu didn't say anything about what Kanrin said next. He had fully committed himself into believing he failed at the Satan City attack. Kanrin then gave a solution to his constant losing in fights. More intense sparring made sense, how was he supposed to get better if he wasn't put in more fights anyway? Yogu was left to ponder what the Shinjin said for a minute, but then Kanrin kicked off the ground and flew into the air! " Hey wait up!" Weirdly, Kanrin had left his staff behind. " Where is Kanrin taking me?" After a few minutes of flying, his question was answered. They were now floating just above some arena. At the arena were a bunch of people who looked relatively strong. It was a mix of ghosts and Ogres. Kanrin asks Yogu if he can sense their energy. " Yeah! I learned how to do it shortly after I died. Same with the telepathy thing. Still don't really understand how, but it was probably some spiritual thing or whatever. I wonder if that's where that transformation from the Tournament came from too...?" Yogu then looks down at the fighters and senses their energy, looking thoroughly unimpressed. " They're pretty weak Kanrin. Why are we here? It's not like it'd be any real challenge if I took one of these guys on."

"They're not strong," the Shinjin conceded as he stepped over near to the edge of the sparring ring. "None of these fighters could hold a candle to you. They certainly couldn't stand up against the World Trade Fleet. But you're not here to fight them, exactly. Just watch."
At first, it may not have been clear why he wanted Yogu to spectate these particular fighters. They weren't using any particularly impressive techniques, nor could their power even be considered in the same league as the youth's: in fact, most had even less evident power than Kanrin himself. However, as a couple of the matches wore on, it might be a little clearer what advantage these fighters had. Their form, their stances, the fundamentals: they were all heavily refined. Compared to the aliens he had alluded to earlier, born with power and lacking any grasp of the basics, these ogres and ghosts stood as the exact opposite. Even though they had no power to speak of, they were incredibly polished as fighters: such that it was almost a shame they couldn't back that up with their energy.
Most of the fights were fairly even, all things considered: the nearest duel to where the pair were standing was between a pair of ogres, and it seemed to have been going on for quite some time. Every punch was turned away, every kick was ducked or parried, and every little ki blast was met with a rapid ki barrier. It was rather clear that these two had fought each-other in the past, knowing each-other's styles so well that they were able to read even slight movements as plain as day. But they, as with the others, were demonstrating very solid fundamentals as fighters.
"With nothing better to do with their time than train, some of these fighters have effectively perfected their own forms of martial arts. Not all of them have the raw potential to develop their power in the same way that you have, but it's worth coming to watch them from time to time. Unless you've learned to lower your energy, fighting them won't help much -- but see the way they move and think about how you can adapt that kind of refinement to your own fighting.

Yogu was very, very confused. Why would Kanrin want him to watch a couple of weak ghosts and ogres punch each other? How could he possibly learn anything from someone that he could barely sense- " Wooooah..." Yogu got it the second they started fighting. They might not've been strong, but they were martial arts masters! Every single one of the fighters moved with such perfect form, precision, whatever you want to call it that he couldn't understand how they weren't some of the strongest fighters in existence! Yogu sits down on top of a tree and watches the fights below, amazed at their skill. A particular fight between two Ogres had him on the edge of his seat! In fact, he fell out of his seat, nearly falling to the ground below! He manages to catch himself and flies back up to Kanrin. " So this is what a mastery of the fundamentals is like, huh?" Yogu began to giggle at the thought, trying to pretend like he isn't impressed. " Well like you said I've got raw potential... So, I promise you that by the time you get back, I'll have learned how to lower my energy to a point where I could fight those guys on an even playing field and beat them! That'll prove I'm a real martial artist on top of looking after your facility, right?" Yogu didn't really know why he made this promise to Kanrin. He was sure that the Shinjin believed in him enough to master the fundamentals before being brought back to life, but before the Shinjin came back to heaven? Doing it in a month was absolutely ridiculous! Despite this, Yogu was intent on following through on this promise. " I'm gonna do it... I'll master the fundamentals of Martial Arts!" Yogu looks down at the group of martial artists as if he was silently challenging them. He turns back to Kanrin looking intent to head back to the facility and get back to training until he could do everything he failed at perfectly. " Anything else we got to do before heading back?"

Kanrin managed a small smile at Yogu's reaction to the fighters. After pointing it out, he seemed to understand just why he had been brought to spectate the fights well enough. He nodded along, before turning his attention back to the fighters in question. Eventually, the fight concluded as one of the pair managed to capture a win by a rather clever blow to the shins, disrupting his opponent's guard long enough for a knock-out blow. "That would be a good way to get more training in, truthfully," he replied, dipping his head in agreement with the thought. Energy control was one way to ensure you never wanted for opponents. Otherwise, you always ran the risk of becoming too powerful to ever fight on an even playing field with those following in your shadow. "If you learned to do that, you would be able to challenge almost anyone. It's a good way to learn from foes who lack your potential."
When Yogu turned to head back to the facility, he shook his head. Their training today had been revealing of the boy's weaknesses, but if he was to carry out the fledgling plan he had constructed, then he would need to get going sooner rather than later. It was unfortunate, but that was just how it would have to be. He offered another weak smile. "Don't pressure yourself to master everything in one month. You need time to eat and sleep too, not to mention study. But I could never fault someone for pursuing mastery in their work, but the last thing we need is for you to overwork yourself and get hurt."
He managed a small smile at that. "I should probably take my leave here soon. Earth is waiting, and you know how to proceed with your training on your own for now."
