It wasn't often that Min settled down for more than a day in any one place. Moving from clue to clue was her goal, but this quaint little town in the middle of Diablo Desert had kind of grown on her. Something about the air in Moosh Village felt... Calming. There was a huge oasis in the center of town, and they had a chef who could make a killer pizza! All in all, she knew she'd leave in a few days, but she wouldn't waste her time 'working' in the meantime.
Well, that was her plan anyways.
"Come one come all," an alluring voice said from the roof of a cart. "I am the great Moosh-o-Leena! King of the Mushroom Caves, and traveler of the sands! Come closer, all of you, and listen to my exploits!"
Fizzy drink in hand, Min approached, watching from an alley as a crowd gathered. The Brenchian atop the cart spoke of his escapades, but damn did it sound fake. Fighting mighty dragons, going to a floating bowl in the clouds? Sure, maybe the Lookout did exist somewhere, but this schmuck probably read about it on the internet. The Serpent Fighter was about to walk away and leave the Brenchian to his lies, a single item stole her eyes back.
In the mans hand was a glowing red ruby, and he explained its origin in enthralling detail. "This! My dear listeners! This is my greatest treasure. The Ruby of Blood." The crowd ooh'ed, and Min slipped a notebook out of the pack on her back. "I knew that thing looked familiar..." Flipping through her pages as the Brench spun his tall tale, she found a page she'd written some weeks ago. Back in Fukurou Forest, she ran across a monk who mentioned barely fighting off a warrior with one of those rubies strapped on his wrist.
"This Ruby is immensely powerful," the Brench said, catching Min's ear. "Legends say it draws on your inner-most evil, and empowers your spirit for but a few moments! But I have found a solution to both problems! In the desert, there is a cave overflowing with deposits of these rubies, and in the far-off northern reaches, I met a priest who can purify these stones! BEHOLD!"
The Brench pulled a sapphire from his bag, and Min sighed. It was just a plain-old stone painted blue! She could tell, because he hand't bothered to paint the back, which the rest of the audience couldn't see anyways. Rolling her eyes, she snapped her book shut, and walked away. This guy seemed like a liar through-and-through, but that cave might actually exist. If she followed his tracks from his cart rolling into town, maybe she'd find her way there.
"Thanks for the help," she muttered to noone in particular.
Without a word to anyone, she set off out of town, hopping over the town wall and following the Brench's trail. Only time would tell if this lead would go anywhere.

“Hey Kay” Kayen slowly opened her eyes and turned her head, her eyes showing clear displeasure in the nickname that Castor had started using for her, in spite of her occasional threats and glares however he mostly persisted with it unless the situation required a certain amount of seriousness on his part “I really SHOULD start stabbing you every time you use that name” Kayen muttered, she had taken up one of the booths at the quieter end of the bar tonight. It was growing certain for her that Namek was where she needed to go and it frustrated her how much time she had wasted here on Earth.
“Yeah yeah, I got something for you” he said a small smirk tugging at his lips, Kayen gave little reaction other than a ‘ok, get on with it’ look directed his way “So I know you’ve been a bit pissed about the whole Vocado thing, but I’ve got some news that might make it so your trip here wasn’t all in vain” Castor continued on, Kayen remained silent but made an effort to show a bit more interest to keep him talking because she really WAS interested. She’d learned that Castor had some connections, a byproduct of running a dingy bar frequented by people who did less than savory things at times, it was entirely possible he DID have news worth her time.
“Word has it that there’s a cave in the Diablo Desert with a trove of Blood Rubies” he waited just a moment for Kayen’s expression to make it clear she did not have the first clue what a Blood Ruby even was “There are a ton of legends surrounding them, but the general idea is they magnify a warrior’s power” “Alright, you’ve got my attention” Kayen finally spoke up again even going so far as to shift her position to properly face Castor.
“The guy I got the information from was passing some of the possible locations on to some other interested party, I figured though I’d give them to you first, give you a head start” he said placing a piece of paper on the table, Kayen picked it up giving it a quick once-over before turning back to Castor “This could be a decent game changer if it pans out, thanks Castor” Kayen said, it was rare she dealt with someone offering something this good with seemingly no benefit to themselves, sure she was funding the place now but still.
The caves were located in Earth’s largest desert, getting there had been easy enough, just a matter of flying until the world suddenly dissolved into sand and blistering sunlight. The main problem, however, was figuring out where these caves actually WERE, Kayen was entirely unfamiliar with the desert just like the rest of the planet and while the information she had was fairly detailed it was intended for someone with likely at least a map.
Kayen spent a few minutes flying until she spotted a caravan down below “Hello… let's see if there's anyone useful down there” Kayen focused her senses on the caravan and found it mostly devoid of relevant energy signatures, but did find a strong one lingering a bit behind.
Kayen made a sharp turn in the air diving down to the signature “Oi, you got any experience with this place. I need someone who’s got at least half a brain and knows the desert”

Min winced suddenly as her head began to ache. An incredible power soared her way, and it was coming fast. She didn't have time to think, nor time to start getting scared. All she could do was gawk as a Saiyan landed near her. Though this enigma of a champion seemed an insurmountable threat, Min had to admit that her outfit was cute. She'd have to ask this mystery Saiyan where she bought her clothes sometime.
"I uh... I've got a bit," the Serpent Fighter said, a hand on her hip to try and seem cool. "Who's asking? A baddie? I dunno if I wanna share my treasure and knowledge with somebody who's got... One of those." Min leaned sideways, pointing at the buster sword strapped to Saiyan's back. It looked like something a final boss in a video game might have.
Turning away from the enigmatic fighter, Min knelt down, inspecting the tracks more closely. This path was well worn, and seemed to diverge a few different ways. All of them seemed old, save for one. The tracks were still deep, and they traveled behind a craggy mountain in the sands. "I'm looking for a treasure. That's kinda my profession, y'know? People say it powers you up, but it comes at some kinda cost. The cost part could just be hogwash. You know how all the best stuff claims to have a dark and terrible price and all. Usually its just bologna though."
Min stood up, dusting her hands off as she stretched her hand out to shake Kayen's. Maybe she was too trusting, but if this chick wanted Min dead, then she'd already be two halves. "The name's Min. If you wanna work together, just promise me you won't vaporize me or nothin' okay? I get you're strong and all, and I like to think I am too, but it wouldn't exactly be a fair fight."

Kayen rolled her eyes as the woman asked a quick series of questions, even questioning if Kayen was a ‘baddie’ as if anyone who identified as such would admit such a thing. She supposed though that she technically WAS at least based on most people's views on things. Piracy was by its nature not exactly a haven for those upon the moral high ground. Still though Kayen was a reasonable person… at least USUALLY she was, and was certain she could avoid doing anything that would so completely offend her that she would refuse to work together.
It even appeared that she was actively hunting a ‘treasure’ that definitely fit the description that Castor had given her about the Blood Rubies, and apparently considered such a thing her profession meaning that she at least believed she was good at hunting down these sorts of things, very ideal as Kayen’s skills tended to lay more in the realm of murder and hunting PEOPLE.
If the Rubies were with the caravan, for instance, she could easily have found it out in the desert without even the air of knowledge of the area, it was just a matter of finding from overhead the areas most likely to function as rest stops for it, and then, of course, murdering everyone until they gave her the prize.
Well the last part was probably not strictly necessary, but it usually was the fastest way to get people to give you their stuff. Kayen took the woman's hand and gave her a firm handshake “I’m Kayen, and it sounds a lot like you and I are on the same hunt. If you’re willing to work with me and don’t do anything stupid like trying to screw me out of what I’m looking for I won't have any reason to put Fateburn through you. I may not know this area well, but any shit we DO happen on I can take down and I have some extra information to point us in the right direction” Kayen said pulling the paper out from her armor and holding it up between her index and middle fingers.
“So what do you think, work together to get what we’re looking for faster?”

”Hey I ain’t greedy. I’ll take my share and you take yours. It’s not like you’re the one who needs to worry about backstabbing after all...” Min imagined that massive sword slicing her into sushi, and she shuddered. Getting on this girls bad side was priority negative one-million.
With the deal struck, Min turned back to the trail, and started to follow it. ”I’ve only just started this whole tracking thing a few weeks back but I feel like I’ve definitely got the hang of it.” She glanced over her shoulder at Kayen, her third eye winking behind a few strands of hair. ”I imagine you’re more used to tracking down bounties or somethin’ but... I just feel like I know what to do when it comes to treasure hunting, yknow? Like it’s always been part of my life somehow.”
Jumping over a slithering snake, Min rolled down a hill and into a collection of dunes. They were already quite far from civilization, and the tracks had become footprints rather than wheels. They were getting close already, and had it not been for a glint of shining light from the suns rays, she might have spent hours searching the dunes. ”Over there,” she said, pointing to a hole in one of the hills. ”That’s a cave. It’s been buried by sand, but the sun still catches something. Looks like it might be a jewel-encrusted door, or a statue in the entrance hall. I can’t tell.”
Turning to Kayen, then back to the hole, she nodded her head toward the entrance, crouching down near the shade of a massive boulder. ”Well, I got us this far. Why don’t you try opening the way? Just make sure not to cause a cave-in alright? I’ll stay back so you don’t vaporize me.”

Kayen’s eyes narrowed when the Human equated her to a Hunter “I aint a fuckin Bounty Hunter, those fucks can fuck right off” Kayen said crossing her arms over her chest, she could, however, get what the girl was saying, she’d found her passion and it just made sense for her even if others did not quite get it the same way she did. Kayen had been much the same way back before she had left home, granted her passion was something QUITE different from the Humans.
Min lead the way well enough with Kayen paying relatively little attention to the actual way they were taking, to her it was no real risk to let herself be distracted, Min posed no actual threat to her and if the Human tried some sort of trickery to trap her somewhere Kayen could very easily destroy anything used to contain her, getting lost was no issue when she could then just blast into the sky and figure out her way back to the bar.
All she really needed to do was keep her senses open to incoming signatures, anyone other than Min was a potential threat and someone she’d have to make sure was simply passing by rather than seeking them or the path they were on. Eventually after a bit of travel Min found what she believed to be the way in, the only problem being a massive boulder that she needed Kayen to remove.
Kayen raised an eyebrow looking from Min to the boulder, the Human was by no means weak, was she really not able to do this herself? Walking up to it Kayen tapped the stone a few times even giving it a stiff punch to test it’s overall durability and found the boulder surprisingly resilient.
“Lucky us I’m not bad with precision” Kayen said as she turned to see how far Min had backed off, she was smart enough to have put plenty of distance but it was unlikely to be necessary as Kayen drew Fateburn from her back she took a few practice swings with the massive blade before taking hold of the hilt with both hands, better to have complete control for a job like this.
“REBELLION STAR!” Kayen roared as her power flared around her she made five incredibly fast swings with the blade forming the outline of a star on the stone’s surface as the energy coating the blast cut into and then completely through it, for a moment the rock would remain standing simply displaying the star pattern until it fell to pieces revealing the mouth of the entrance and the next leg of their journey.
“I’m surprised you didn’t give it a go, if you got going I’m sure all that power you’ve got would be enough to at least move the thing if not destroy it” Kayen commented as she returned Fateburn to its place on her back.

Min watched patiently behind a rock formation, her eyes narrow as Kayen approached the entrance. It wasn't particularly difficult to deal with a big rock, but she'd rather not leave herself open. If this swordswoman suddenly got bored of working with Min, then getting winded by blowing up a few rocks was probably a terrible idea. Besides, it'd probably look cooler if the RPG Villain with a huge buster sword opened the cave anyways.
"Sure, you can say that, but I ain't gonna believe you're all that accurate until I--"
Suddenly, Kayen slashed into the rocks, turning them into what amounted to mush. The Serpent Fighter stood up, clapping enthusiastically as she approached with haste. "Nice one! You sure you aren't a video game character? Those moves were pretty flashy."
While the two of them talked, a harsh wind would blow out of the new entrance in the cave, chilling Min to the bone. How odd; weren't deserts usually pretty hot? Maybe this place had some fridges plugged in just past the entrance. "Yeah I coulda easily smacked this thing open, but you never know what kind of evil magic a mystical cave hidden by a rock could be keeping at bay. I'd rather have the buster-sword-wielder with immeasurable chi be the one to crack open the sucker." Reaching for a pouch on her side, Min pulled out a small canteen and offered it to Kayen. "I might like fighting, but I don't like dying."
Without hesitation, Min stepped in first, a subtle apology for making Kayen open the door. The entrance was not as grand as she'd expected; instead of a grand entry-way with a huge idol and some demonic spirits, it was just a small cave with a corner to round. It was incredibly dark, though, and that's where the true danger would always lie. With a snap of her fingers, Min conjured a ball of Ki, letting it hover above her palm as she entered.
The makeshift light did wonders for visibility, painting the room in bright light as she reached its center. This place was barely big enough to store a desk, let alone some mystic treasure. Maybe the corner led downward rather then forward. She peeked, finding that there was indeed a steep set of stairs right around said corner.
"Looks like a tight stairwell, and it goes down forever!" She turned back to her traveling companion. "Easiest way to put it? One of us is gonna have to stare at the other's rear-end for a few minutes... You aren't gonna grope me or something to try and scare me, right?"

Kayen rolled her eyes at the Human though while she was clearly trying to give the impression she was unamused by her words inwardly Kayen DID find it perhaps a bit amusing, she had an amusingly pragmatic way of handling the situation that Kayen could respect, why do something potentially dangerous when you had someone else willing to do the job for you? If Kayen had not been in her shoes she likely would have done the exact same thing. “You’re lucky it was not some sort of curse, I can only imagine how poorly it would have gone for you if destroying that rock unleashed some curse that drove me mad” Kayen flashed Min a toothy grin before she took the lead heading down into the cave first in what seemed to be a sort of means of making amends for her actions. Kayen followed quickly after and while the stairwell was incredibly uncomfortable forcing her to stoop down a bit to avoid her head scraping against the roof at its lower points Kayen still managed a grin at Min’s question “Oh nothing to worry, if I do it certainly won't be to scare you” the Human WAS rather pretty, Kayen certainly wouldn't be adverse to the idea though this was perhaps not the most ideal place for such things. Kayen paid little mind to the cave itself simply allowing Min to lead the way, she was or at least claimed to be the expert when it came to these things, were Kayen left to figure it out herself it was far more likely her solution would have just been to smash her way through everything until she reached the prize.

”I suppose you’ve got a point there. Then again, if you had gone wild I’m sure some hero would have swooped in to heroically saved the day or something. You know— how the movies always do it.”
They travelled down the long corridor for what seemed like months, an eerie feeling slowly creeping up Min’s spine as they ventured further down. Leading the charge didn’t exactly help matters either, since apparently her traveling companion wasn’t averse to swinging at Min’s fence, for lack of a better term. Kayen wasn’t far from a looker, but being bedfellows with a scary mercenary was pretty low on the treasure hunter’s to-“do” list.
With her mind swimming in the trenches, it took Min a moment to snap back to reality once she’d reached the bottom step. Sending her energy ball outward, she expanded it with as much energy as she felt comfortable expending, causing the massive hall they’d entered to become luminous.
The place was old and decrepit, as Min had expected. What intrigued her, however, was just how little resided in these ruins. Besides this one room, there was fairly little. No other halls to enter, seemingly no secret passages to uncover. Besides one incredibly large statue of a knight with no head, the room hadn’t much else.
”Well... This seems a little anti-climactic. I figured we might be here to like, fight something.”
As she uttered the word ‘fight’, something strange occurred with the statue. The knight slowly began moving, years of dust shaking off of the old stone to reveal a far more intricate design than any stone carver could ever muster. It stepped off of its pedestal, pulling its own head off the ground and donning it as if it were a simple helmet. From the neck of the statue dangled a strange stone, shining an eerie red.
”Interesting.” Min tapped her finger on her cheek. ”Usually enchanted things have a more unique code word than that...”
Before Min could quip any more, the statue attacked, swinging wildly at her with a massive stone sword. She leaped out of the way just in time, hovering a few feet in the air. ”Big doesn’t mean slow in this situation! Be careful!”

Kayen raised an eyebrow as they entered the large hall, there were no obvious signs of where to proceed but that didn’t quite mean that there WASN'T anywhere to go, just that it would probably take some doing to figure out the path, maybe a bit more cleaving through stone? It felt reasonably likely that they would have to keep going down so perhaps just cutting through the flo- Kayens thought process was cut off as the silence that had overtaken the room after Min had finished speaking was suddenly filled with the grinding sound of stone on stone as the once inanimate statue began to move stepping forward with more ease than something so bulky should have been capable of and wielding a massive stone blade that dragged across the floor as it approached. “Doesn’t matter much what triggered it, it’s active and pissy. I’ll keep it’s attention, you try doing something sneaky while it’s focused on me" Kayen said rushing forward into the space where Min had dodged from to meet the giant stone blade with her own, and to Kayen’s surprise when Fateburn and the stone blade clashed she was forced to put actual effort into pushing back against the blade. “And be careful, this thing’s tough, if it hits you you’ll probably be squashed” Kayen said shoving back against the stone knights blade and finally forcing it to stagger back though it required no small effort on Kayen’s part, while she stepped forward to keep the Knight engaged with her and the focus off of Min she took in more of the Knight trying to figure out some weak point on the thing. The only thing that really stood out on the thing was the stone around it’s neck shimmering with a strange light, it almost felt like it was calling to her in a wierd way, similar to the need she had felt when she first saw Fateburn.

The stone almost seemed to grumble in annoyance. Kayen was powerful, but so was this beastly thing. It could probably topple a city on its own, had its creator wished it. With another shift of stonework, the statue twirled its immense blade above its head, aiming to stab down not onto Kayen, but the ground in front of her.
It was a harsh and powerful strike, enough to displace the ruined temple grounds beneath. If Kayen didnt move quick, she’d find herself on her back in seconds.
In the midst of all the chaos, Min was preparing an attack of her own. Leaping from one pillar to another, the Serpent Fighter had found purchase atop one of the stone structures that’d lost some of itself. The little nook was just large enough to fit her, allowing the girl a vantage point.
Hopefully Kayen could see her from here. She gestured from across the room, trying to point at herself, then at the beast and make a scissor motion. She was going to blast energy at the rope tying the necklace to the guardian, hopefully severing its tie to life. After her first gesture, she pointed to Kayen, and crossed her index fingers like swords. She needed to keep the guardian still for as long as possible.
Hell, would this chick even be able to see her all the way up here? Either way, she started charging her shot. Energy ballooned atop her index finger, readying to strike the moment a chance arose.

Kayen grinned as the giant stone construct seemed to grow annoyed, she wasn’t entirely sure HOW strong was making such sounds but the things entire behavior easily conveyed a level of displeasure with it’s situation, it made a wide swing with its blade at first Kayen believed it was trying to impale her and prepared to deflect the attack only for the stone blade to be driven into the ground before her causing the whole room to shudder and the ground to split. Kayen growled in frustration as he footing was quite literally upended from her all at once but while the construct’s efforts might have thrown off a normal fighter, Kayen could fly, even without the room being quite as spacious as Kayen’s usual areas of combat it was still enough to allow her to take to eye level with the stone golem. Min had vanished from her immediet vision but her power was still present and appeared to be thankfully not displaying any signs of her being injured by the attack, Kayen cast a quick glance her way and found the Earthling was actually trying to get her attention, she made a quick series of gestures that Kayen roughly interpreted as ‘fight it while I blast its back’ Kayen shrugged as that was more or less what she planned to do anyway and rushed at the Golem taking a quick series of swings at it with ever increasing intensity to keep the thing focused on her. Min clearly had something in mind and while Kayen was pretty sure she lacked the power to actually just blast the thing to bits even with extra time to charge up Kayen didn’t feel particularly at risk by letting this play out, the stone guardian was tough but she was more than confident in her ability to crush it.
