It was as if the universe didn't want her to have a happy family. Ever since the death of her father and step-mother, Kon had been miserable. Compared to the kindness they showered her with, her biological mother was a polar opposite. She hated her, she hated what she stood for and most of all she hated the fact that she had to be a saiyan. Squeezing her eyes closed, Kon couldn't do anything but watch as images of that night flash before her eyes. The spacepod, the screams and the moment she woke up: naked, afraid and with her parents and brother nowhere in sight and the forest she in ruins. She now wished that she didn't learn the truth about what happened that night. Perhaps it would be better if she lived in ignorance, thinking that a wild animal killed her parents. But that still wouldn't have been that far off from the truth. That cursed monkey blood that ran through veins, was proof that she was a wild being without any control.
Ever since she learned the truth, Kon had tried to do everything to disown this saiyan side of her starting with removing her tail. Of course, that task was impossible. The moment she even gently tugged on the limb, waves of pain shot through her body. The next best thing she could do was to completely toss out her love for fighting and her former dreams, however, it wasn't long before she found this impossible as well. They were a part of her that she wasn't able to toss out. Since all of her other plans had failed, Kon only had one thing left to do. Completely cut out any relation she had with her saiyan side of the family. Sure, this had pained her to do but living with that monster within her hurt even more. It would be difficult, especially when her half-brother wasn't so bad but she couldn't think of any other way.
One night, she had begun her departure, taking only the clothes on her back. It would be difficult leaving her mother's apartment but Kon was determined to do so. Silently she would make her way to the door, trying her best to make as little noise as possible as she slipped on her shoes. Before she reached towards the door handle, her stomach began to growl. Immediately her eyes shot toward the kitchen. Perhaps a little snack wouldn't hurt before she left. Reaching up towards the cabinet in the kitchen, Kon tried to grab a snack from the top shelf. To her dismay, as she grabbed one of the snacks another fell down behind it, and then another, creating a loud crashing sound that echoed throughout the apartment. Soon she was knocked to the ground with a giant pile of snacks resting on her chest, completely dazed.

Tarch PL: 40,000
The past week had certainly been one for the books. Tarch seemed to have family popping up left and right. First, he had the opportunity to meet his birth mother, something he never thought possible until a couple months ago. Now he had the pleasure of meeting his half sister Kon. There was, however, one issue. If meeting Kohlra was awkward, then the first time Tarch met with Kon was a train wreck. She seemed to have no interest in her saiyan side of the family. Granted their mother was, well is a hard headed, crude and violent saiyan woman. All of that aside though she did have a caring side to her. Perhaps she didn’t have that fifteen years ago when she had Kon, but now she was at least trying to be motherly. It was surreal, to say the least to hear anyone describe Kohlra as straight up vicious like Kon mentioned her father did. From what Tarch’s father always said, she was never a people person but the two did have something going between them.
Tarch was concerned his sister had no desire to get close with her remaining family. Really he was past concern and on to full worrying, so much so he laid awake trying to figure out why Kon would hate the two so much. Maybe it was because he was still a starry-eyed little boy while she was a teenager with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Would he grow up to be like that? He only had two or three years before he hit the real teenage period of his life. The saiyan was snapped out of his thoughts though when he heard a small avalanche coming from the kitchen. Tarch bolted from the bed and crouched by the door. It was only a quick sense later that he could feel it was only his distressed sister, apparently knocking something over.
Tarch took a deep sigh of relief, though really he’d only feel bad for whoever had the guts to break into a house of three super powered beings. Still, he wanted to make sure Kon was alright. “Hey,” he’d greet weakly as he made his way to the pile of snacks. The half breed always had a knack for sensing the feelings of others, but for some reason, he just felt emptiness coming from Kon and had no idea why that is. So Tarch would just have to find out what was going on the old fashioned way. “What’s wrong Kon? You seem a little off. Besides being covered in snacks.” Speaking of said foodstuffs, the teen would begin picking up the boxes and bags of treats, popping a graham cracker in his mouth.

Shit. The sounds of her half-brother's voice caused her blood to run cold. She really had hoped to leave without anyone noticing. For a moment she considered to lie and say that she was just hungry for some snacks. But how was she going to explain why she was fully clothed? "Nothing," she said with a quiet laugh, trying to keep her voice low so that she wouldn't wake up her mother. "Go back to sleep Tarch, it's late. Your sister was just a little hungry and wanted to see if we have any of my favorite snacks." Pretending to sort out the snacks, she shook her head. "Aw dang it. We don't have any." She said in faux disappointment.
She would begin to put away the snacks back into the cabinet, although she kept a few choice ones that she thought would be able to sustain her for a few days. "I'm going to go to the store now to buy some, I'll be back in about ten minutes." She lied. Kon didn't intend to return at all. While she felt a little guilty for running away, it was necessary. She couldn't stand being around Kohlra anymore. She hated her so much.
Walking towards the front door, Kon flashed a smile at Tarch. "Now you stay here okay? If mom asks where I went, just tell her I went to the store." Hopefully, that excuse would suffice. It pained her to lie to Tarch, especially when he was an innocent party in all of this, but she couldn't risk things. Kon knew that he would tell Kohlra if she were to tell him her true intentions. She was halfway out the door before she looked at Tarch presumably one final time. "Be a good boy will you?" She asked him before she would attempt to close the door.

Tarch almost laugh. He couldn’t help but find the situation his sister was in funny. Though, this was not a haha funny. No, this was a sad funny. One of those cases where you can either laugh or cry, and you just can’t bring yourself to do the latter. The thing was, Kon was an open book to her brother. Tarch could sense vague emotions from strangers alone, someone of his flesh and blood practically dictated their true feelings to him at this point.
Kon was not upset that they were out of her favorite snack, though she was absolutely upset. Unfortunately, Tarch was not a mindreader, more of an empath. He could feel her inner feeling twisting with sadness every time she spoke, proving that the half heran was lying through her teeth. The younger teen couldn’t say anything to stop her though. The last thing Tarch wants is to start a fight with his sister, even if they two were barely acquainted, he didn’t ever want to risk losing a family member, literally or figuratively. He did, however, have one last thing he wanted to say before she closed the door. So the boy quickly jammed his foot between the door, smiling warmly at Kon. “Hey, I know mom can be… well, is hard to deal with sometimes. Why don’t I introduce you to my human parents? I know you aren’t technically related, but I bet they’d love to meet you. Who knows… maybe my dad would see you as family too? He is your stepdad in a way after all.” Tarch ten slipped his foot back inside. “Anyways, hurry back ok? I’m going back to bed, goodnight!”
Fighting fire with fire, Tarch fed Kon his own lie. He could feel his sister had no intentions on returning, but he couldn’t very well follow her in just a pair of shorts and a tank top. So he quickly slipped on the bodysuit to his saiyan armor, pulling a black hoodie on top. Sadly his usual jacket was far too noticeable, sort of a signature item of his. After taking a moment to suppress his power level, he’d wait about a minute before following Kon’s energy signature. She wasn’t getting away that easy.

Her excuse seemed to have worked. Tarch appeared to be leaving her alone now, to her relief. However, it still pained her to lie to him. It would have been better if they had never talked in the first place. That way Kon wouldn't be feeling this bad and she wouldn't be hurting his feelings. However, before she could close the door, Tarch stuck his foot in the door, preventing her from closing the door. Frowning, she would look at her half-brother. He had offered her the opportunity to visit his part of the family, the human one. Kon could tell that he was genuine with his offer, wanting merely to help her get used to her new life. His words felt like another slice by a hot knife in her side.
"I would appreciate that very much Tarch." Kon responded, however a somber smile was on her face. "But I think I'll turn down your offer. I just need some space. Just forget about me okay?" She said, hoping her attempt to push him away would work. She wanted to soften the blow as much as possible so that once he and their mother learned of her true intentions it wouldn't be as painful and they wouldn't know where she left to. "Good night." She said before closing the door.
She would take her time walking down the hallway, careful not to wake any of their neighbors. Once she had reached the staircase, Kon would make a sprint for it. The sooner she left, the better things would be. She kept running without looking back. Her form was nothing but a blur to a typical human eye, but for those who were around her power or higher they could clearly see her form. She had to get away as soon as possible.
Once Kon had reached the streets, she would begin to run the opposite direction of the corner store, unlike what she had told Tarch. While it was probably a better idea to perhaps fly, Kon refused to do so. It was a power that she refused to associate with. At least her superhuman speed was something her body built up rather than through a feat of ki. She simply couldn't. She didn't want to risk losing control again. Hopefully, she would be able to escape the city before anyone realized it. Before Tarch possibly could have seen through her poor act.

Wanting to give his sister a chance to prove him wrong, Tarch would only watch for a moment. Kon did indeed begin her path to the store, that was, out of the apartment complex. Beyond that, she deviated entirely, in the opposite direction no less. The teen sighed in defeat. Climbing out onto the roof, Tarch would watch his sister sprint as if her life depended on it away from the city. She was fast, fast enough to give her brother a literal run for her money. But no one, not even a member of his family, was going to outdo the speed king Tarch.
Of course, he couldn’t waste any time. Catching Kon in the city he knew like the back of his hand was one thing, trying to spot a single person in the whole world, let alone the entire southern hemisphere could prove difficult. “Sorry sis,” he groaned aloud, before taking off after her. It wasn’t an easy chase, especially when you were trying to be as stealthy as possible, keeping to the maze of alleys. Luckily, Tarch would find himself running parallel to his half sibling, only a mile or so from the outskirts of South City.
“The store is the other way Kon.” Tarch would say nonchalantly as he bolted just in front of his sister. He’d skid to a halt without warning, meaning Kon would have to stop herself or crash into him. If though she was smart enough to try and go around him, the younger would simply try and catch her by the arm. “Out of snacks huh? I thought I was a bad liar.” Throughout all this, Tarch would stay calm, cool, and collected. He honestly felt no ill will towards his sister for what she was doing. He knew their mom was rough, but he wanted to be a saiyan so he stuck it out. Still, he didn't know what drove Kon away so soon. "So you want to tell me why you're really sprinting at top speed out of town?" Tarch would let go of his sister if he did indeed manage to catch her in the first place, giving her a warm and patient stare.

Just when Kon had believed that she had successfully managed to trick Tarch into thinking she was leaving, she found him suddenly in front of her. Crap, how was she going to explain this now? Her act hadn't been convincing enough. Of course, she felt ashamed when her brother caught her in the lie, with her tail drooping between her legs in shame as if she were some sort of dog. He asked her why she was leaving, in the calm and patient voice that nearly caused her to cave and go back. But, the image of her mother in her head caused her to shiver and shake her head in response. She had to stay strong, and as much as she truly wanted to build a relationship with Tarch she couldn't. She had to play the bad guy.
Her face twisted, turning from surprise into emptiness. Kon had to be harsh, there was no other way. "If you want the truth, then you can have it. I never loved Kohlra, nor have I loved you. Each moment I live with you is torture and that is all." She said, her mind racing to find a way to escape this situation. She couldn't let him go back to her and tell her what she did. But at the same time, she didn't want to hurt him. Kon didn't want to give into the monster she swore to never accept again just to prevent her from running away. But what was more important? The promise she made to herself or her own sanity? There was almost no way out of this.
Taking a deep breath, Kon stared at her half-brother with a hard expression. "Leave me alone Tarch, it's best if you forget about me. The happy life you want to have with Kohlra and I isn't reality. If you truly care for me, leave me alone and pretend like I never existed." She claimed, doing her best to keep her voice calm and cold. Her hand began to twitch, wanting to create an attack to support her bluff. But she just couldn't. There was no way she could do something like that. Sure, it would easily cut off ties between the two, but she refused to do anything immoral like that. She wasn't a saiyan. She refused to solve conflicts with physical violence. Kon only had one way to keep him away, and that was through words.

Tarch’s eyes went wide as his sister tore into him. He never would have imagined that anyone he was willing to call family could harbor so much contempt for him. A small tear welled up in his eyes. No, this couldn’t be right. He had to try and sense what she was feeling, she had to have been hiding something. As the teen focused on Kon, his mind trying to probe her own, he was greeted with a cacophony of conflicting feelings, shouting over each other in an eclectic mess of regret, hate, guilt, and bitterness. Tarch quickly put a hand to his forehead, reeling back slightly. He couldn’t pick out anything in that mess.
He recovered quickly though, staring his half sister dead in the eye. He was about to lay into her, his tone turning into a depressing combination of furious sadness, his voice quivering as he tried not to break down and cry. “Mom… no, Kohlra I understand. Kohlra is rough, a real saiyan. You and I both have other halves! If you told Kohlra that you hated her and just wanted her to forget you existed, she would probably just scream and swear and pretend she didn’t care. But Kon, I’m NOT MY MOM. You can tell me to leave you alone until your blue in the face. You at least tried to live with us so that means at least a small part of you wants to try right? I lived thirteen years without any siblings and now that I have one I’m not going to let that go. Kon… we don’t even have to live in the same house, but I’m not going to just forget about you. Don’t think about me as a half saiyan guilt trip, think of me as your half human brother.” Tarch was left gasping from breath, trying to hold back his tears while expressing just how far he was willing to go to make this family work. He sniffled a bit, wiping his eyes, hoping to hide his tears. Maybe it was just him being childish, or in fact, a child, but Tarch was already thinking of this girl as his big sister, and couldn't stand to lose even a potential sibling. “I’m not my mom,” he whimpered again. “I love her but I’m not her. Please Kon, if not Kohlra than at least accept me…”

His reaction broke her heart. She so desperately wanted that life with Tarch. Kon did really want to be happy with Kohlra and Tarch, but in the end, the truth simply wasn't that kind. She simply couldn't, no, she refused. All this time, Kon had been harboring all this hate, anger and contempt towards Kohlra. And now that she has been given a chance to escape, she refused to let it go. "It's true, I want to." She admitted, there was no point in lying about that. While she so desperately wanted to see him as half human, rather than a saiyan it changed nothing.
His tail was there to see in plain view. The look of the innocent face he made towards her only reminded her that they weren't connected by human or heran blood. Rather the blood that made her a killer. It angered her, she wanted nothing more than to attack him in an effort to just make him leave her alone. For a moment, she nearly even gave into this impulse, taking one threatening step towards the saiyan hybrid. "You are not my brother. You share the blood of that... monster. I refuse to accept this, now leave!" She screamed. That was when Kon finally regained her senses. Did she really say all of that? The pain of hurting her half-brother was like a hot knife through her gut, but at the same time perhaps it was what was necessary to make him let go.
Tears began to well up in her eyes, "I'm sorry Tarch." She said in a much softer voice than before. "I simply can't. You don't understand." Her hands balled up into fists, as she remembered that night. Tears began to flow down her cheeks even quicker. "You don't understand what's it's like being me. You don't understand anything at all. Your life has been handed to you on a silver platter and me?" Kon jabbed her thumb in her direction. "And me? I only experienced pain and suffering. Just leave me alone Tarch, for the last time. I don't want to hurt you." She really didn't want to hurt him. But the longer she stayed here, the angrier she became. If she didn't do anything soon... she didn't want to know what would happen. However, for now all she could do was restrain herself from using her power or else the beast might slip in without her knowledge.

Now the younger of the two couldn’t hold back anymore, the dam holding back all the anger and sadness broke in a furious torrent of tears and screams. “Monster huh? I got a nice helping of her DNA too! What does that make me?! You think I’m a monster too?! huh?! Maybe I’m a raging monkey too is that it?!” Tarch balled up his own fists, staring his sister dead in the eye through a torrent of tears. He wasn’t going to let Kon go, but he couldn’t let what she said go either.
However, Kon wasn’t done her own speech. She went on to apologize only to begin tearing into him about how he doesn’t know what its like, how his life was nice and easy with no worries. This caused the younger teen to snap almost completely. “You…” Tarch’s aura flared up now, his anger inches away from taking over. “What!? You think things were easy for me?! You think everything was just dandy? While kids in school beat me up for being a saiyan?! Being duct taped before I was strong enough to fight back and thrown into the river in nothing but my underwear. OH! And then I’D get in trouble when I’d lose it and hit back! For twelve years I had to just let these kids bully me or else I’M the bad guy!! Oh and you think I never lost control? Never found some blutz thing randomly active to send me on a rampage through the city! I hurt people! And I hated myself for it! BUT NO I clearly got my life handed to me on a silver platter!”
At this point, Tarch fell to his knees sobbing uncontrollably, his face awash with fury and sadness, his icy blue spheres a torrent of water pouring down his cheeks. “But you know what? If you and I, or hell even Kohlra were such monsters, you think the three of us would give a damn? We wouldn’t want to try if we were just monsters and nothing else.” For a good minute or so Tarch would just cry almost uncontrollably. It was only once he calmed down enough to form words would he speak again. “I’m not afraid of you, you know.” His voice sounded like he was back in that classroom all those years ago, facing down some kid too big for his britches. Only now it wasn't just defiance in his voice, but a sort of hopefulness. “A monster wouldn’t want to hurt me. I won’t let you hurt me either. Even if you already did just now.”

She hadn't exactly expected her words to backfire. Kon had intended to convince her brother to leave her alone, but she had forgotten they were still connected by their mother. Right now, she wanted nothing but to cry but she had to keep that guise. It was best if she just severed their connections here. "Yes, you are." She spoke quietly. "We both are monsters, and we should stay far away from each other." But that wasn't the last of it, Tarch continued to speak of his own experiences about being a saiyan. Kon hadn't realized that her brother lived through this much pain and sorrow as well. However, in the end, he was much purer than she could ever be. At least, he didn't have blood on his hands.
"Tarch," she began tears flowing out of her eyes even harder before. She tried to speak again but could only manage out a wheeze. "No." Kon might not have gone through all the pain that he was forced through, but she... She just had to leave. He wasn't like her. He had much better control, a happy family. What did she have? Nothing. That was because she took it all away with her own hands. After regaining some composure she began to speak. "Do you know why I was sent to live with Kohlra and you?" Kon wouldn't even give him a chance to speak before she would interrupt him. "My parents died. I've already accepted their deaths a long time ago. But do you know why they even died?" Jabbing her thumb towards her chest, Kon began to cry even harder. "It's because of me! I killed them! You don't know the pain of losing your parents, you still have both of them. You especially don't know how much it hurts being the one responsible for their deaths so don't you dare say even try to sympathize with me."
She hated the fact that he was trying to prove to her that she asn't a monster. She hated the fact that he still believed in her. If Kon really wanted to leave, she had no other choice but to prove that she was the monster that Tarch claimed she wanted. She especially didn't want to give into the beast but there is no choice. Wordlessly, she wiped her tears before walking up to Tarch and aiming a punch at his face. Instantly she regretted it, and that she wished she could take it back but it was too late. "Does that prove it to you yet?" She said quietly, trying to hold in her tears.

His chest was heaving, his eyes were watering, his fists were balled, and all he could feel was despair mixed with just a pinch of unrealistic hope. Still, Tarch stared at his sister. Surely this won it for him. Surely what he said would finally open her eyes to the fact that she was not truly a heartless monster. Yet what she said next absolutely floored him. Where Tarch went through hundreds of little things a child should never have to live with, Kon experienced one thing no one should ever have to even think about.
Tarch’s eyes shot wide open as his half sister recounted why she was living with Kohlra in the first place. He couldn’t process it. Death was one thing, he was constantly scared that his grandfather would just one day succumb to his injuries and crumple down. But to a child his age, his parents were damn near immortal. He couldn’t even fathom their deaths let alone being their killer. Tarch could remember all those times his father had to calm down his rogue son when a rogue blutz generator went off, shouting up to him with the authority of any normal parent. The worst thing he ever got were bumps, bruises, a broken leg, and busted eardrums. Kon wasn’t nearly as lucky.
Tarch’s lip quivered. She was right, Tarch had all three of his parents, nevermind the usual two. He had nothing. All the silently weeping hybrid could do was stare in utter horror. This… couldn’t have made her a monster right? It was the oozaru not her. Tarch’s mind was racing with ways to justify the murder of her own parents. His daze was soon broken by a sharp smack to his cheek, just below his eye. Now the boy was left staring dumbly at the ground. He sniffled, a familiar wet sensation in the back of his nose. Tarch places a thumb to his nostrils before slowly pulling it away. Bleeding, not super heavy, but bleeding none the less. Tarch looked at his half sister blankly. She asked if he finally understood, she was a monster that wanted to hurt her own brother.
He just looked her up and down, his tears and terror halted by the punch to his face. How badly he wanted to punch her back couldn’t be put into words. Right now though his fist just shook in anticipation, ready to lash out at a moment’s notice. If it wasn’t for the fact he could feel her still mind breakingly powerful feelings of anger, sorrow, and regret he would have tackled her to the ground like all the other bullies he fought. “Feel better?” he asked, his own anger boiling. He just had to hold on a little longer. His tears were back, only this time slow and silent. “Because as far as I care we just had a little sibling fight just now.” He then looked her dead in the eye, his icy blue spheres locking with her emerald green orbs. “Sounds to me like you just have a monster inside you. A big hairy one. And just as stupid as you are!”
Tarch lurched forwards but managed to resist the urge to hit her back. “You think a couple of punches is gonna make me think you’re so bad? Guess what, I got blasted in the back by the person who later became my best friend! So if you really want to hurt me you’re gonna have to do better than that sis!” It was obvious that punch triggered something in him, his saiyan pride was starting to peer through at the worst time. “You didn’t kill anyone, that thing did! Something our mother can control! If she can do it so can we! We don’t have to be monsters just because we turn into one you idiot!” Once again tears streamed down Tarch’s face, his teeth now barred in a furious scowl.
