Chime's PL: 18,000
To call the Timeless Lookout a 'tower' was a bit of a misnomer. While it may have been connected to the ground in the past, now it simply floated above the Earth, suspended by some ancient magical means. Chime, Earth's would-be-Kami, touched down on the Lookout's perfectly flat surface, and his face was nothing short of awed. The place was a marvel of magical craftsmanship, with everything he could see perfectly aligned just-so. Not to mention whatever magic kept it afloat was still going strong with no signs of stopping. For it to have lasted up here, as long as it has been, was amazing. Chime didn't know how old the Lookout was, exactly, but it was much older than himself, at least. From what he'd gathered from his allies, if you wanted to make dragon balls, this was the place to go. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, exactly, but he hoped it would be obvious when he saw it. There was only one building on the large, circular platform, so that made it easier. His answers had to lie somewhere within there. The young Namekian straightened his shoulders, adjusted his robes, and started out towards the building. He wasn't anticipating meeting anyone inside, of course, but he still wanted to look presentable, just for his own dignity. Chime was halfway across that perfect grid of white tiles when he stopped, and looked to the sky. He could sense other energies, approaching him at high speeds. They were somewhat familiar, at least, so he wasn't worried about an attack, but it still made him a little nervous. He adjusted his robes again, self consciously. He'd gotten the go-ahead from a shinjin, of all things, but there was still the nagging thought in his mind that he wasn't supposed to be in this sacred place, as an off-worlder.

This is The Tower, For Real | Cobalt's PL: 10,000 |
Cobalt was enjoying himself, despite his odd outfit of blue cat-ears and a long robe denoting his duty as Senbyō. He had just made a trip to the beautiful, mystical palace that floated atop the clouds that morning. He had done his usual rounds of work all over the spherical wonder. His daily chores consisted of tending some of the flowers and bushes that adorned the pale white flooring and then sweeping that flooring. It was a lot of work, but Cobalt had enjoyed it for multiple reasons. Among those reasons, the biggest and most important was the peace that surrounded the area. The Lookout was so high above the clouds, that no one would really disturb him. He could work and think in peace. Well, until his systems pinged some energies headed his way. "Um...that's...concerning." He said under his breath as he, cowardly, hid within the immense walls of the outer sanctum-esque area of the Lookout, waiting for whoever had arrived to present themselves. After a bit of waiting, Cobalt peered outside, spotting a robed Namekian. He furrowed his brow in confusion and slowly stepped out from his hiding place. "...H-hello? Can I help you?"He asked meekly. He then walked out to meet the man halfway, although his nervousness was somewhat apparent. "Are you passing by...or did you come looking for something? I'm...Cobalt, filling in for the Senbyō of the tower down below."

Chime actually jumped in shock as the blue-eared figure emerged from the central building. He didn't think anyone lived here anymore, and he hadn't sensed his presence at all. But it sounded like Chime had startled him just as much as the reverse, so he got a hold of himself as best he could, and gave the man a brief bow, "Hello! Sorry if I'm intruding," he stood up straight to meet the other man's gaze, "My name's Chime, and I'm..." He had to glance away again, and rubbed the back of his neck with a little laugh, "Well, it sounds really pretentious when I say it out loud, but it's the truth. I'm tasked by a god to become guardian of Earth, and create the dragon balls. I've been training, and this was the next stop on my journey."
Cobalt, as he called himself, claimed to be a stand in for the 'Senbyo'. Chime didn't know what that was, but he was familiar with the tower at least. It got another nervous laugh out of him, "Oh, that really tall stone one, with all the carvings? We, uh. Heh. We might've messed up your front yard training there. Sorry."
He closed the rest of the distance between them, and stood before Cobalt. It was only then that he realized the ears atop his head weren't real, but some sort of decoration. Chime had to cover his mouth to suppress the giggle that threatened to come out. Why would someone need four different ears? It looked so silly! But that was not becoming behavior for the future Kami of Earth, so he cleared his throat and tried to continue on as if he hadn't noticed anything, "So, er. Yes. I'd like to have a look around, if that's okay."

This is The Tower, For Real
As the namekian introduced himself, Cobalt's face changed from one of worry to one of wonder and curiosity. As he stated his name and bowed, Cobalt replied in kind. "Whoa! Wait...Mr. Nashi's books said something about this...something about there being a guardian of the Lookout. Is that...is that you, Mr. Chime?" Cobalt made sure to neatly adjust his collar as he Chime commented about the tower. Cobalt had wondered who that was training around the Tower's grounds, but it reminded him of the good memories that he had training out there, himself. "Oh, don't worry about that, I'll clean it up once I am finished here. I have been tidying up the place, waiting for either Mr. Nashi to come back or the so-called guardian." Cobalt responded with a cheek-to-cheek grin. He had forgotten he was wearing the ears, so he was somewhat confused when Chime let out a little chuckle. "Oh, sure! Of course, Mr. Chime, I can show you around the Lookout, if you wish."

The Namekian lost whatever composure he'd mustered together as soon as Cobalt called him 'Mr. Chime'. He chuckled and glanced off to the side, self-consciously, "Heh, well, I guess it is me! Here I am!" He turned back to the regent-Senbyo and gave him the most reassuring grin he could manage. When he mentioned Nashi, however, that grin faltered. Cobalt was waiting for Nashi to return? But, Chime had been told Nashi was dead, along with a human warrior named Yogu. What, exactly, had Cobalt been waiting for, then? Unless...
"Hey, um," Chime began to ask, unsure, "You said you're filling in at the tower? Where has its usual caretaker gone to?" He was trying to broach the subject carefully; either he was bringing up memories of a friend's death, or he'd be the one breaking the news soon. Before the mood could get too down either way, he continued, "You said there were books? About the guardian? That sounds like exactly what I need! Is there a library or anything up here?" Chime bounced on his toes excitedly, eager to get going, but he didn't want to run ahead without the caretaker of the tower. That would probably be rude at best, sacrilegious at worst. But he was so close to his goal now, he could feel it.

This is The Tower, For Real "Hmm, the usual caretaker?" Cobalt questioned, "Oh, you must mean Mr. Nashi. Well, he was in an incident, involving a lot of bad people...and most of my friends. I escaped...regrettably, b-but It's fine because Mr. Nashi sent me a letter, detailing his and everyone else's eventual return. It's rather...complicated, this whole afterlife thing... Oh! The books, yes, I have my own, albeit a small, collection of tomes and tales describing sort of the same thing as this place, it's in one of the many small rooms here. This way, Mr. Chime." Cobalt bows as he leads the way into the mystical inner workings of the Lookout. "However," Cobalt starts as they round a corner, "there are a few books that I have found here, in what looks to be the main quarters, but they're in a language I have yet to decipher. Maybe you'll have better luck, hmm?" Cobalt muses as they make their way to the room. "Okay, it's this room. I've dusted it recently, hopefully, it's pleasing to your levels of cleanliness."The room is a little compact and contains a small desk in front of an equally small shelf. There are tattered books and flakey-looking scrolls wrapped neatly in their own shelf. There's a small and strange chair at the foot of the desk. "Well, here we are. It is not much, but I hope with will do for now. I'm almost done with my cleaning schedule, so if you do not require anything else, I will take my leave for now." Cobalt announces, with a smile. " It...It certainly is wonderful to have another face around here, Mr. Chime. It certainly has been a lonely time, but I know that you are certainly the one for this job. You have a very gentle set of eyes, Mr. Chime."

Chime breathed a sigh of relief. Cobalt knew what had happened to Nashi and the others, that was an awkward conversation he was able to avoid. Remembering what had happened to his friends obviously pained the man, though, so Chime patted him on the arm and tried to reassure him, "Hey, don't worry! If I'm successful here, you'll be seeing all your friends again soon. ...Oh, um! Because they'll come back to life! That sounded kind of threatening otherwise, whoops..." He pulled his hand back to rub at the back of his own neck in embarrassment. Well, he tried. Luckily, there were books to distract them with.
Cobalt led them into what looked like a little office, and Chime's eyes went wide. Books! Scrolls! This was exactly what he wanted! He looked up at Cobalt and gave him a big smile, "It looks great to me! Thanks a lot! You said it's in some weird language though? Let me see..." He went over to the shelf and picked one book out at random and opened it up. His eyebrows shot up when he saw what was inside, "Wait...this is Namekian! My language! It's...really, really old," He held the pages closer to his face to read the faded text. There was a lot of the Earthling equivilent of 'thee' and 'thou' in there, "But I think I can get the gist of it, if I take some time." He looked up over the book to give Cobalt a brilliant smile, as if the android had just gifted him a room full of diamonds, not old books.
"Oh, yeah! Don't let me keep you from your work, I'll just be in here," Chime assured him, but at Cobalt's compliments, his face flushed purple and he hid it behind the book a little, "...Oh, um. I-- I dunno about that. We'll see. But...again, thank you."
With that, he let Cobalt get back to the cleaning he was so intent on, and sat himself down on the floor of the room to go through the ancient texts.
Thread exit! Let's rp again soon :D
