Autumn had settled comfortably over the fields of the Spinach Wastes. The grass had grown crisp and crunchy underfoot, and the leaves on the trees were changing from bright green to oranges, browns, and golds. Soon, it would be time for the farmers of the region to harvest their crops. A cool breeze blew over the plains, and Chime sat on the very top of the glass dome of his house, meditating. He'd made the house some time ago, to test the limits of his magic materialization ability, and to prepare himself for creating the Dragon Balls, but with all the other training and work he's been doing for that same purpose, he hasn't spent much time here. But now he'd managed to grab himself a quiet moment, so he spent it sitting quietly at his new home, admiring the changing colors of fall and centering himself.
Something had...shifted recently, though the little Namekian wasn't sure what. It was as if some force in the universe had tilted, ever so slightly, on the axis it had been spinning consistently, and soon the effect of it would ripple out, affecting everything it touched. He didn't know what had changed, or what was about to, but it did tell him one thing: it was time. Time for him to officially take up the duty of Kami and Guardian of Earth that he'd been pursuing. He didn't imagine he'd have much time to himself after that happened, so he wanted to savor this moment, where he could see the wave of fate and change coming, but before it actually hit.
He took a deep breath, and looked out over the plains once again.
Yanwang walked through the wastes boredom plastered right over his face. There was nothing to do. He had not seen anything in forever. He supposed this was what he got for being a troublemaker. A day of pure bordem. Where there could be a damn thing that could bring him any form of entertainment. As he walked around he came across something finally. He'd peer over and see some sort of housing complex. They're even was someone at the top of it. Maybe he was seeing things but he decided to check it out. What was he going to do if he didn't? Just wander around with nothing to do. He'd walk over the large building peering in the doorway. He could not reach up though. So he'd float up and knock. "I'm bored." The boy called out with a pout. Maybe this person would open the door and have something fun to do. Or maybe not and he'd just be on his way. It was better then just walking straight to nothing.
Last Edit: Oct 24, 2018 0:18:27 GMT -6 by Yanwang: added powerlevel
Chime sensed the newcomer before he saw him. That level of energy was hard to ignore, especially out here, in the vast plains of nothing broken up by a farm every few miles. Whoever, or whatever, it was, didn't feel terribly malicious, but Chime braced himself just the same. He couldn't really know this person's intentions until he met them, after all.
It wasn't long before there was a knock on his door, and Chime leaned over to see...someone very red, and very short. Even shorter than him! He wasn't sure if this person was young, or simply meant to be that small, as he'd never seen a race of horned people quite like this. But just as he'd suspected, the stranger didn't mean any harm, he was simply bored. Chime called out a friendly, "Hello!" and waved down to him, then hopped off the domed roof to gently float down onto the grass beside his new visitor. He held his hand out to shake, and gave him a warm smile.
"Hi there! I've never had anyone over here before, so this is a surprise. What are--er," the Namekian began, then stopped himself. He couldn't just ask this stranger what they were, that was rude, "Who are you? Y'know, what's your name? Mine's Chime." He paused again, and took a moment to look the stranger over, now that they were on the same level. He looked solid, despite his height, and had some sort of large bag at his side. Maybe he was a traveler, then? He'd probably journeyed a long way, and there Chime was, making him stand on the front lawn this whole time. He turned to quickly open the door to his round, one-room house, visibly flustered, "Oh, sorry! I don't really know how to be a host, or, uh, have any food, but come in! You said you were bored? What sort of things do you like to do...?"
As he knocked on the door he could the sound of someone from upstairs. Seems he was noticed. Finally, something to do other than wandering around like a fool. He'd wait as the man came down and held out his hand to shake. He seemed nice enough so Yanwang shook his hand. He asked...something. It seemed he wanted to ask something but stopped himself. Yanwang tilted his head confused. Then he asked who he was and what was his name was. "Oh me." He'd smile. He decided just to tell it straight. "I'm Yanwang. I'm really bored. I've just been wandering around for a while and there really is nothing do so I looked for something to do." Yanwang explained to Chime. Maybe he had something to do. Then the guy let him into his house. He walks in looking around. It was a nice house to be sure. Then he asked what he likes to do when he was bored. "I mean what do you like to do when you're bored. I'll try that I supposed." Honestly, nothing could be worse than just walking around with no aim right?

A decently long way down the flat and peaceful fields, a soft and mystical whistle carried across the wind. Someone else had decided to wander the area, none other than Tysco! Consulting the journal he inherited as with most of his adventures out into the world, he had now found himself in the Spinach Wastes. According to the page he was looking at; there was something that lingered in the area, something that made odd noises. Whether it was a spirit, demon, trick of the environment or a magically inclined prankster; it was bizarrely unclear. Tysco had not yet figured out all of the clues in the book to solve the mystery. As such, he figured that some practical research was in order.
Meandering around the largely empty expanse, Tysco moved slowly and methodically, as if to follow a tune that didn’t exist. He had eyes firmly locked on the journal, using his peripheral senses to otherwise guide himself… However, it was because of his unearthly focus on the task at hand that he barely registered two rather robust souls that were somewhere ahead on his path. Subconsciously, he recognized the both of them, and therefore saw no cause for alarm, and kept his focus on the mystery at hand.
Tysco was in fact— so keenly focused— that he continued walking and upon reaching the side of the round little home that had been placed here, he began to walk up the wall, over a window, over the top viewing dome and back down the wall on the other side near the door. All the while, Tysco maintained the whistling that he was doing… Until his focus was suddenly broken, having heard the voices of the two familiar souls!
“Huh..?” Blinking comically, Tysco looked up from his book, closing it to properly get a look the others. “Oh. Hey, Chime—” He smiled to the Namekian, now noticing the house properly “—Is this your place? It seems you have a visitor, eh?” Peeking around the door, Tysco saw the young Ogre that had just gone into the house and recalled the circumstance in which he met them. “Oh… Sorry, hi there, I don’t think we ever introduced ourselves last time… Erm. I understand why though.” Somewhat embarrassed, his frills drooped for a moment, but he offered a smile regardless, to let the Ogre know he understood why he stormed off in rage after seeing Koban’s memorial. “Still. It’s good to see you— both of you. How have you two been?”
Chime was so focused on his guest that he didn't realize he had another approaching, until a shadow passed over his house, through the domed window on top. "I dunno what I do, honestly, I haven't been bored in a while, I've been very busy--" he'd been saying to Yanwang, when he felt that presence pass over the roof of the house, and he stopped. What was that? Some sort of animal? A bird? It felt too strong to be a bird. He quietly ushered the ogre further into his house as he went to peek his head out the door. There he saw the fluffy white hair of Tysco, standing in front of his house and looking confused. Chime smiled in relief, and waved him inside, too, "Oh, hi! This is where I live, yeah. And it looks like I've got two visitors, come on in! It's like a housewarming party."
The inside of the house was a simple, single round room. A table and chair for sitting on one side, and an circular bed on the other. There were bookshelves around too, but they were mostly empty, waiting books to fill them, and there was no kitchen or dining area of any sort. In the very center was a ladder, which lead up to the little loft with the domed window above it. Everything was Namekian style architecture, and looked like it had been plucked right off the planet itself. Chime stood in the middle of the room and looked a bit awkward. He'd never had to entertain guests before, and realized he didn't have anything fun to do. ...Or even enough chairs! He hastily began conjuring another pair up to match the first, and spoke as he did so, "So, um. You guys are friends already? Yanwang here said he was bored, but I don't know what we should do." He set the second chair down at the table and clapped his hands together.
"I've been pretty busy with...projects, so I haven't gotten the chance to be bored. This is my first day to myself in a while."
Yanwang frowned as the man explained that he been busy. He had nothing cool to do. He'd turn his head at the voice of someone. He'd look over at the man remembering him. He had seen him when he saw Koban's grave. He didn't remember his name he just remembered his face. He frowns thinking about the sour memory but he tried to not have that bring him down. He noted that had not introduced each other last time as he nodded, "Yeah...you." He'd say making him know he remembered him but still, no name. Though these two seemed to know each other which was cool he guessed. More people there be less chance of being bored. One of them would have something fun to do. Chime asked if they were friends, "Eh we meet each other. We both had a friend who knew each other." He'd look over as Chime noted his name as he'd look at Tysco, "As he said i'm Yanwang what is your name?" He'd ask, maybe that inspire some sort of conversation.

“Well, you have a nice lil’ place.” Tysco bowed slightly. “If it isn’t any trouble, I’d be happy to.” He added, accepting Chime’s offer. Sadly, he didn’t bring anything in the vein of a housewarming gift… To be fair however, there wasn’t much you could get on short notice for someone that could similarly create things out of thin air. Gifts for those as mystical as Tysco or Chime needed time and thought put into them. “Man. Kinda wish I knew earlier, I would’a brought you something. Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t really matter now..?”
Even though it was a sour memory that both Yanwang and Tysco shared, Tysco also didn’t want to bring the mood down because of it; and appreciated that Yanwang was more or less implying the same with his behavior and body language. “Well, my name is Tysco. It’s good to properly meet you, Yanwang.”
Tysco entered the homely little dome and looked around. It was simple and sensible and Tysco found it quite fascinating; everything that a Namekian at least would really need was present. From what Tysco knew, a Namekian’s diet was primarily based on water, and fruit juice on occasion so the lack of anything in the way of kitchen or bathroom made sense. “Wowsers. So this is what Namekian architecture is like? Neat!”
“Projects huh? Anything worth mentioning?” He looked over to Chime with a thankful nod and sat on one of the offered chair. “Like Yanwang said, we sorta met each other regarding a mutual friend.” Tapping his chin, Tysco gave it some thought. Boredom troubles? There was the thing he was here to research… Perhaps that could potentially alleviate any boredom? “Well—” Tysco began, opening his journal to the last page he was reading. “—I do have a suggestion. There was another thing I was meaning to track down in the area.” He put the journal on the table and pointed to the rather vague illustration on the page. The title read ‘Whisper Of The Wastes’. “This here, is this thing I’ve been meaning to track down and a mystery to solve regarding it. See; the thing about this mystical phenomenon is that nobody is entirely sure on what it is. Some theorize that it’s a ghost, other say its a demon, prankster, innate magic of the land, yadda yada, so on and so forth. What I wanna do is uncover the truth behind it all.”
"Friend of a friend, huh...?" Chime looked between his two guests for a moment. It was clear to him there was something they weren't saying, but it seemed to be their business, not his, so he didn't worry about it further. He looked a bit bashful when Tysco starting looking around his house. To Chime, there was nothing special or noteworthy about it, besides the fact he made it himself, but the actual structure was unremarkable. Then, he asked about what projects he meant, and that gave Chime pause.
The little Kami-in-training tended to be careful about who he let know about his plans with the dragon balls. Tysco seemed good-natured, but he still didn't know him well, and this Yanwang he knew even less. So, Chime just rubbed the back of his neck and laughed in most casual way he could, "Oh, you know. Boring stuff. Lots of meditation and soul-searching. Maybe I can show you another time, when it's farther along?" he said, hoping the offer to see his 'project' later would halt any further questions right now.
He leaned over the table to peer down at the journal once Tysco set it down. The Whisper of the Wastes? Chime wasn't sure what that was, but... "I don't know about 'whisper', but there is a whistling noise on the wind around here, every so often. I don't know where it comes from, I never thought about it before." He turned to look down at Yanwang and smiled, "I'm up for helping him look, if you are!"
Yanwang looked around trying to not make eye contact with any of them. It was sort of awkward to see Tysco, since last time they meet Yanwang was having sort of a temper tantrum. Course he'd turn when Tysco introduced himself. Seems there were off to a better start then the first time they meet. He knew, he was pretty emotional and he remembered Tysco being pretty sad too. Though it was pretty hazy he didn't wanna think about that memory too much. Whenever he did he could feel his blood boil then freeze over. It was a scary and sad feeling for him. To feel that helpless whenever he thought about what had happened to Koban. Then his focus snapped back to what was being talked about. Good thing too he felt like he was about to blow a small fuse thinking about it.
He had asked afterall what Chime liked to do. It sounded super boring. "Meditation and soul searching." He repeated looking deep into himself as he closed in his eyes. He saw nothing. He'd open his eyes. This guy really must have been off his rocker. He could not see his soul. He was still alive. Sure, when he died he might be able to see it cause he'd become a ghost but now? No way! Though Tysco did have something cool. He was looking for something. He'd look at the title as he explained what he knew. Something about it being someone causing it but they didn't know who or what. He offhandedly shrugged. "Prob a ghost." He'd said. "But yeah let's go look for this it can be lots of fun. I got nothing better to do so anything at this point would be awesome." Guess they had solved the bordem problem quite quickly. This sounded like a lot of fun in his head.
