One could say that it was a normal day in West City, and in many respects that was true; but of its denizens there was an important distinction to be made.
So many people went about their lives none the wiser, unaware of the struggles that strangers they didn’t know had to deal with. Unaware of the heroes that put their lives on the line to keep the innocent safe. Unaware, and blissfully so. However, there were those that were actually clued in on the chaos that the universe was now in. Aware of the evils that lurked all around. Aware of those that fought the good fight, making so many personal sacrifices through their selflessness. Aware, and painfully so.
Tysco truthfully came under the second category, but as far as anyone was really aware, he came under the first. The young man returned to his tertiary studies a while ago after a short bout of illness and as usual he was easily leaps and bounds ahead in his class despite the absence he had to take. Everything returned to normal for a time. Tysco was eager and peppy as ever, answering as many questions as possible when they were posed by his professors, helping out those that were struggling and even sometimes staying behind in class during breaks to quietly study.
Unfortunately, that normality did not last. Only recently had the young man’s psyche been shattered. A recent attack in Central City had cost the lives of many innocent yes, and Tysco always found himself becoming sad for this reason… However, shook him at his core was the loss of his friend and fellow Pride Trooper, Koban. The one that had effectively kickstarted Tysco’s heroism had lost his life doing what he did best; protecting others.
As far as anyone would ever really care to know, Tysco was being his regularly empathetic and emotionally driven self— simply a fan of Koban’s and nothing more. Even so, Tysco knew deep down that Koban believed in him, and that nothing could truly stop Tysco from being himself and achieving what he wanted to achieve.
To that end, Tysco continued to attend his classes and he would do so today, simply with a few fundamental differences. What was once the star student, there was something else. Now he was grouchy and reclusive, not even bothering to answer the questions posed to the class and ignoring anyone that looked to him expecting something to be said, nor did he help anyone. Soon enough the signal for a one hour break came. Having already preemptively packed up his things Tysco was the first to leave, shoving the door open with a bit more force than was necessary, causing the door to smack the outer wall before settling open. Ignoring every other student in his path, Tysco made a beeline to the cafeteria...
