Chime was feeling nice and confident his little ruse had riled up Usod enough, right up until a meaty blue hand wrapped around his necklace. Maybe this had actually been a bad idea.
He was slammed into the ground, flat on his back, and that alone took the breath out of him. His necklace broke, and the beads bounced every which way across the arena. He sputtered and gasped for air, but couldn't scramble away fast enough to avoid Usod's next attack. Any plan he had to conjure an item was tossed to the wind, and the white light was snuffed from his fingertips. All he could do was hold his hands up over his head and summon another barrier as those two fists came down on him in a single, devastating strike. The was a moment of resistance as Usod's punches strained against the shell of golden energy surrounding Chime...and then it buckled. The barrier shattered into a puff of yellowish light and smoke, right in the Heran's face, and his fists both slammed into Chime with a definitive, resounding crack that could be heard in the stands. Several spectators winced or gave sympathetic 'Oooh's.
The source of the sound was twofold, and was evident in a couple of seconds, once the smoke cleared from Usod's eyes. The force of his attack had actually pushed the little Namekian into the arena floor a bit, and there were fissure lines in the stone beneath him. There was also a line of purple blood dripping out of his mouth. Those punches had broken some ribs, at the very least.
Chime, for his part, looked terrified. He was making a pained, gurgling sort of choking sound, and gripped at his chest where he'd been hit. The robes under his hands were torn and ripped, and had actually taken some of the impact, thanks to how sturdily he'd constructed them. But they were ruined now, and wouldn't be helping him out until he made another set. Even with that, and even with his barrier, that attack had hit hard. Somewhere in the back of his mind, Chime registered this was the most pain he'd ever been in. The rest of his mind only had one concern, though: get away. He used his smaller size to his advantage and scrambled under Usod's legs, and ran until he had to double over coughing and clutching his chest again.
The Namekian ability to regenerate and heal wasn't some secret art. It didn't require training, it was something each of the green slugfolk could do, instinctually. Chime tapped into that instinct then, and in just a couple of seconds, he was standing up straighter, and stopped holding his chest in pain. When he turned to face Usod again, even his nose seemed straighter. He was clearly still shaken, and not entirely steady on his feet, but there was a gleam in his eye and a smirk on his face, brought on by the adrenaline high of the regeneration.
"...See, I knew you were gonna punch me."

|Round 1| Dosu's PL: 150 000/30 000 (30 000 base x4 + bulking)
For sure, he thought the ground shattering blow he attacked his opponent with would spell the end for him. Even that flimsy shield of his couldn’t hold against his unstoppable might, dissipating into a cloud of energy. Even when he destroyed him, Dosu found that the Namekian was being irritating, even if subconsciously. Just the way that puff of golden smoke got into his eye managed to get a displeased grimace out of the Heran just as he was delivering what he thought would be the final blow.
That irritation was however short-lived, easily replaced with a much better feeling when he felt his fists trying to dig in his opponent’s body, just before a resounding crack could be heard. While most of the crowd could attribute the sound to the arena giving in to the pressure applied by the attack, Dosu knew much better. He felt the ribs break from the impact, the resistant part of the Namekian’s body suddenly caving in, forcing the purple blood to exit through Chime’s mouth, much to Dosu’s satisfaction. His eyes became wider at the sight of blood feeding on both the sensation of pain and terror his enemy was feeling. That, obviously, was a look on his face that suited him much better than that smug grin of earlier.
As he got up, ready to celebrate his victory, the Namekian slipped away in an instant, running between his legs to reach the other side of the arena. Wait? How could he have so much energy left in him? What the hell was going on with that resilient-ass creature? If his eyes were not betraying him, he could see Chime…regenerate? And very quickly, at that. His nose straightened in a mere instant and while the internal damage was not as visible, he had no doubt the same phenomenon was happening as well. Not that was also very annoying as well, but more than that, it was fascinating and it begged the question: what was his limit?
“Heh, aren’t you one resilient fella. Good, that means you’ve got at least one redeeming quality about you. So, here’s what we will do. Let’s see together how much more you can take before your body finally gives out, OKAY?”
He still had that smug grin on his traits, but Dosu chose not to pay much attention to it, this time around. Instead, he’d focus on the task at hand, testing that fool’s tolerance to pain and now, he’d show him of annoying he could be in return. Charging at him with blinding speed, he began his onslaught on him, delivering a barrage of punches with the same furor as previously, however, in this particular case, the grunts and growls of rage were replaced with maniacal laughter. It wasn’t even about fighting, anymore. It was about losing himself in the pure unhinged pleasure of carnage and above all, breaking Chime for good.

The only evidence that Chime had been hurt at all was the tears in his robes, and the light purple staining on his face, which remained even after he wiped his hand over his face. He stood there with a punch-drunk grin on his face. His whole body ached from being crushed and then put back together so quickly, but he felt strangely great. Better than great, he felt raring to go! He'd been literally pummeled into the ground, and he'd come out standing tall. Namekians were durable, of course he knew that about his own people, but he'd never had to put it to the test like he was right now. It was exhilarating.
Usod came at him with another series of blows, but nothing of the caliber of what he just endured. It seemed he was trying to overwhelm Chime with quantity now, not quality. Chime tried to use his smaller size to dodge and weave around the punches, but for everyone one he skirted past, another hit. No matter how good his ki control was, or how big of an attack he could withstand, he still wouldn't call himself a 'martial artist'. Close quarters was still his weak point. Usod's onslaught backed him up almost to the edge of the arena. He had to do something to turn the tables, and fast.
That was when he noticed. The Heran wasn't shouting out battle cries or kiais, he was...laughing. He was enjoying this? What was wrong with this guy? Chime looked baffled, even as his fingers sparkled with white light and he conjured a new item. His plan from before could work now, though it would be sloppier than he'd hoped. In between once punch and the next, a large fishing net appeared in Chime's hands, and he threw it at Usod! Whether it tangled him up or not, it would be a moment of distraction. Enough time for him to concentrate his ki into the point of his finger again. He didn't say the name of the attack this time, just let out a "HA!!" as the energy beam pierced through the air, and pushed Chime back several feet from the recoil.

|Round 1| Dosu's PL: 120 000 (30 000 base x4)
That little green rat was way more nimble that he would have given him credit for. Swiftly evading some of the stronger strikes, that boy was truly living up to his smug attitude. However, it was clear that the Heran had the upper hand. For every punch he dodged, another one made it through his guard and each of these occurrences made the Heran gloat. How many hits would it take? Three hundred? Four hundred? A thousand? He couldn’t wait until the Namekian’s body fell before him and each time the thought crossed his mind, his punches were sharper and faster than before. He was getting impatient.
“What’s wroooong? Can’t keep up? Come on, we’re just getting started over here!”
Throughout his barrage of hits, Dosu didn’t seem to show any signs of fatigue or any intention of stopping anytime soon. With his opponent in check, he wouldn’t stop until his wish was fulfilled. Even that look of surprise on his face was absolutely great! Almost as if he couldn’t realize what was going on. That smugness had wiped off of his face at long last. Even if the little green fellow had been against the ropes for a while, Dosu had no plan of letting him fall. If anything, he’d probably throw him in the middle of the arena just to continue the beating.
While lost in that singular thought, Chime apparently found the resolve to scheme something. As he was about to materialize the object, Dosu leaped backward, but whether his opponent had anticipated his movement or if it was simple luck, the fishnet he summoned was still going in his direction. It didn’t matter, however, as the Heran brought his hands in front of himself, grabbing the object and ripping it apart.
“Are you trying to keep me away? Fool, you’re only delaying the inevitable!”
In that position, his arms were not placed on each side of his body, leaving him vulnerable for a short window of time. That would prove to be just enough for Chime to land his famous attack, however. Unable to defend himself in time, Dosu braced himself for the impact, taking the laser head-on. Well, more like on the left side of his chest, really. The attack left a small burn on his chest with a single drop of blood slowly sliding along his upper body. Once again, the Heran burst into laughter.
“Hahahahaha! Nothing but an itch! Keep them coming, boy! Entertain me more!”
As soon as he said that, he charged the Namekian once again, this time in an attempt to drive his knee into his chest, grabbing him by the antennas and smashing him against the ground. Should that succeed, he’d then try to stomp his head in the floor of the arena, brutally assaulting him several times.

The net didn't tangle Usod up as much as he'd been hoping, but it at least slowed him down enough to get that hit in. Chime frowned when he saw how little the Kanrikosen did when it actually hit, though. Just scorch marks and surface damage. He'd been intending to leave more of a dent. This guy didn't just hit hard, he was durable too. ...And he was still laughing.
Something was seriously wrong with this guy. Entertain him? Is that all this was to him? Wasn't he the one going on about how Chime should be taking this seriously a few minutes ago? Now it was entertainment? Chime grit his teeth. He wasn't going to be some punching bag for this guy to smack around until he got bored. He was going to hit back! He was going to teach him a lesson!
Usod's knee came flying at him, and he barely shook himself from his thoughts in time to dodge. The strike still grazed him, and knocked him off balance a bit, but he didn't take the brunt of it with his freshly-healed chest. Still, that moment where he had to regain his footing was enough for Usod to grab him by the antennas. Now, Namekian antennae weren't a massive weak point like, say, a Saiyan's tail, but they were still delicate. Chime in particular used them in his energy sensing and telepathy techniques. They were a sensory organ, just like the eyes, and therefore were sensitive. Being forcibly grabbed by them and slammed into the ground like that was painful. It got something from Chime that he hadn't let out for the entire fight: he screamed. It was shocked and pained, and he sounded more like a scared boy than a Guardian of Earth for that moment.
The Heran's foot came up to stomp on him, and Chime's hands flew up over his head to try and block it. "GET OFF OF ME!!" he shrieked, and tried desperately to fire off another Kanrikosen. In his panicked state, he wasn't able to properly concentrate all his energy into a fingertip, and instead it released in a great explosion between the two of them!
Chime attempts another [N1] Kanrikosen, but it explodes! Damage potential is still 27,720

Even in these circumstances, Chime managed to hold his own fairly well. That was commendable for someone who lacked so much experience in hand to hand combat, to be able to dodge his attacks, albeit barely. However, it looked like he hit the jackpot when he first grabbed him by the antennas, getting from the first time what seemed like a scream to the Heran. A sudden rush of dopamine ran through his body after hearing it, the sense of pain and fear he must’ve felt only widened the already creepy smile on his face. At this moment in the fight, he couldn’t have wished for anything more. At first, the Namekian was being provocative, but Dosu managed to force him into taking him seriously through actions rather than words. Now on the defensive, the Namekian was getting a taste of what would go on for the remainder of the fight and thanks to his sturdy body, it would go on for quite a while.
After tossing him to the ground, Dosu wanted to follow with a head stomp in an attempt to shut it up for good. Because while he wanted the fight to last, the fact that his opponent was so durable also made him want to break through that sturdiness of his and show him that his might was far above Chime’s resilience. As he prepared to deliver his first kick, ki gathered on his foot in a similar fashion than his previous attack that had broken his ribs. The Heran’s boot began to glow a dark red once again, still crackling with the same dark lightning as before. When he went for the attack, however, Chime attempted to counterattack by delivering an attack of his own. Whatever happened at that exact time, the attack created an explosion that would have damaged Dosu, if not for the fact that his ki-covered foot came in contact with it first.
There was a struggle initially, the explosion effectively dampening the Heran’s attack on Chime but the more he felt resistance, the more he added weight behind his attack until the moment when he got through the attack, crushing it as it dispersed in the air all around them. His foot continued before coming in contact with the Namekian’s throat, pushing even harder as he tried to drive him into the ground. Finally, once he finally stopped, all of the energy contained within Dosu released at once, creating a pillar or red energy that shot up far into the sky.
Following the attack, the Heran made a few steps back, breathing deeply as fatigue began to manifest within his body. He shouldn’t get up from that. At least, that’s what he thought. And if he did, then it wouldn’t be without severe injuries and burn.
Dosu uses his [MP3] Assault and Battery flavored as one big stomp to the throat for 120 000 damage His attack clashes with Chime's Kanrikosen 92 280 damage coming towards Chime, equaling 109.8% of his PL 0/3 KP Damage: ~15%

Yellow energy fought against red, and for a moment, the fighters were lost in the orange light of the explosion, like a deadly sunset. The red quickly overtook everything else as Usod's power overwhelmed Chime, and within the pillar of energy, he was struggling. Everything from the waist up burned, and he wanted to get away, but he couldn't. The boot at his throat dug in deeper every time he tried to move, so he was left pawing at it and kicking into the air futilely. The attack roared around him for what felt like forever (but, in reality, was only a couple of seconds), until it fizzled away, and Usod stepped back.
The first thing Chime did was cough. He took a big, shuddering gasp of air as soon as his throat wasn't being crushed, and let out a series of ragged coughs. The way Usod had crunched down on his neck bothered him almost more than the ki blast...but the blast still took the cake. The arena floor all around where Chime lay was blackened, and the Namekian was equally scorched. His antenna and parts of his robes were still smoking, with even more holes blown into them than before. Usod still won the prize for 'most clothes lost during the fight', of course, but Chime was catching up to him.
Very slowly, Chime pushed himself up to an elbow. He was burnt, beaten, broken apart and put back together, and honestly, he didn't know what else he could do. Usod had bested him at every turn. Every attack he'd thrown, every plan he'd hatched, his opponent had countered it with brutal...well, not efficiency. Those volatile, crackling attacks were anything but efficient. But they were brutal, and Chime didn't know how much he had left in him. ...Then again, judging by how heavily he was breathing, maybe Usod didn't have much left in him, either. He didn't know if he could win, it looked doubtful at this point, but Chime still wanted to walk out of here with his dignity. With great effort, he pushed himself to his feet.
He locked eyes with Usod, and made a choked noise as he tried to speak. It ended up devolving into coughs again. He could breath alright, but it seemed actually speaking for the moment was impossible. Luckily, he didn't have to.
"Do you think I'm just going to lie down?" his voice rang in Usod's head again. As he 'spoke', his hands sparked with the white light of magic once again. The well of ki within him had run dry, but magic...that was a force outside of him. He could draw on that for much, much longer, "I'm the Guardian of Earth, I'm not going to run away just because you got a little rough."
He hadn't meant to let the title slip like that, but he was still pumped up on the adrenaline high. That, coupled with the knowledge that a referee would step in if things really got too rough, gave him the bravery to stand firm like he was. If this were a real fight, and Chime was alone...he wasn't sure they'd come to the same conclusion. But that wasn't now. Now, the magic in his hands formed once again into a metal club, like the one he'd started the match with, and he settled down into a stance more akin to a baseball batter's than a warrior's.
Owie. Chime takes all 110% of that damage.

|Round 1| Dosu's PL: 120 000 (30 000 base x4)
Slowly, the Heran steadied his breath, his gaze focused on the crater and the smoke rising from it. While he was rather proud of that attack himself, the crowd did not appear to share the same sentiment, booing Dosu from every direction, claiming it was not fair to attack someone weaker than him like that. He did not answer. If they weren’t clever enough to understand that this Namekian boy was everything but weak, may Hera had mercy on their soul. It took almost everything he had to do that amount of damage whereas much of the people he had fought that were stronger in appearance failed to withstand two of his attacks. Needless to say that they were also far from this magnitude, too.
At first, Dosu was convinced that this boy was nothing but a weakling putting on a show to impress his friends. That’s what got him so upset in the first place. Then, as the mood shifted when he embraced his desire to break him, that’s when he finally understood. He was no fighter. He was a shield, a defender who could withstand blows that would have shattered many of the other contestants here. He almost made Dosu doubt of his own strength for a while. In retrospective, while this boy remains a fool who can’t play fair by using all of these dirty tricks, Dosu would be ready to admit that he, indeed was strong. Not enough to stand up against him for the whole fight but still, long enough to earn some praise from the old fighter.
And it was at that moment the warrior was glad to have kept quiet. From the crater is opponent emerged, bruised and battered, but still alive. Just how durable was this kid, exactly? He had never seen anything quite like this before. At first, he was surprised, his eyes widening after witnessing such a feat, but after a couple of seconds, his lips curled upward in what could be interpreted as a smile of admiration. Not a lot of it, mind you. He was not going to sing his praise for decades to come. No, but in all seriousness, he was rather pleased to face such an opponent. The crowd erupted in cheers for the Namekian, chanting his name in unison. Dosu even applauded the effort.
“Well, would you look at that! Still alive and kicking! Man, I’m really starting to like you. Hahaha, now I really wanna see just how much longer you can go!”
Chime spoke to him through his mind, causing another annoying sensation in his mind. It was not as big of a reaction like the first time, in fact, it made him flinch slightly, closing an eye. Was he unable to talk? Had he jammed his foot too far in his throat to allow him to speak properly? And what was that nonsense about being the guardian of Earth? Had he gone completely insane? And that white energy he was gathering in his hands, once again? Hah! The fool was planning to keep fighting in that state! This time, Dosu broke into laughter for real, commending the efforts of the young boy.
“Hahahahaha! I take back what I said! I really like that attitude you’ve got there, boy! Think you’re a god or some kind of shit like that? Has the heat really gotten to your brain that much? Heh, doesn’t matter. Wanna keep at it? Fine, I’m game. It would be disrespectful to deny you that chance, huh?”
He assumed a fighting stance, preparing for his next move.

Once the dust had settled, a loud whistle blew across the stadium, as a signal that any fighting should be stopped immediately. The murmuring crowd grew hushed as the host of the tournament, Polbo herself, wandered onto the arena grounds, her microphone in hand and her usual host smile across her face. That match sure had been an exciting one! It was clear to anyone watching that both Chime and Usod had given it their alls, but only one of them could advance to the next round, sadly. The audience around them all waited in anticipation as Polbo reached the center of the stadium and brought her microphone up to her mouth.
"That was quite the match!" she said, sounding genuinely impressed. "I wasn't sure if you'd be a huge fit for each other, what with the difference in your sizes, but good job, to both of you!" She clapped her hands, and the crowd members let out their roars of praise for the good show that had been put on for them. "Close as the struggle may have been, I think a clear victor managed to edge himself out on top in the very end." The pink haired Earthling turned towards Usod, and gestured out a hand towards him. "Let's all give it up or Usod, our big winner here in this match!" As Usod's fans began to cheer for him and chant his name, Polbo made her quick exit back off the side of the stage. There were still many more matches to prepare for that day!

Chime stood holding his bat and stared Usod down. His robes were singed and tattered, his body was beaten, and even his antenna were bent askew, but he still wore a lopsided smile on his face. Partially from the thrill of the crowd cheering for him, but partly from the begrudging respect he now felt for Usod. He still kind of thought the guy was a creep, with all the laughing he was doing as he pummeled Chime into the ground, but he was at least giving him credit now. Maybe he wasn't totally bad. Chime did notice how his telepathy seemed to bother him, but that didn't deter him from using it. Usod stomped his throat in, so he'd give the guy a headache. That seemed only fair.
"A god, huh?" Chime's voice in his head replied, "Maybe I am. How would you know? Have you seen a god before?"
His grin turned into a smug little smirk at that, and he charged forward with his metal bat held high. Not even flying now, just running across the arena, ready to strike...when the whistle blew to end the match. In his surprise, Chime tripped over and landed face-first on the stone floor, and the yellow aura around his body vanished as he hit the ground.
"Aw, c'mon!" He lifted his head and shouted at Polbo as she walked out between them, "I was just about to--" but his hoarse voice wouldn't let him say anymore, and he fell into another coughing fit. While she announced the winner (Usod, naturally), he sat cross-legged on the ground and pressed both hands against his own neck. A gentle blue light shone between his fingers, and after a few moments, his throat was healed enough to speak without pain. He still sounded a little croaky, but it was good enough to approach Usod and actually talk to him normally.
"...So, um. Congratulations. Good fight, and all that," Chime rubbed the back of his neck and looked a bit awkward, "I still think you've got issues, and you're kind of messed up, but if you want an outfit that actually fits before the next round, I can do that."
Regardless of what Usod answered, Chime would exit the arena to make way for the next match. As he did, the Heran would hear one last message in his mind. He couldn't help himself, the guy was too easy to mess with.
"And remember. The gods are always watching."
:D Great fight!! Good luck in the rest of the tourney my dude.
