There was a new god in town, and Synthesia couldn't say that he was all too pleased.
For one as attached to the earth as Synthesia was, it was hard to simply let that slide without knowing a single thing about the person in question. Kami. Synthesia didn't like it one bit. How could someone truly proclaim to be the Kami of Earth? What did they know about this planet that Synthesia didn't? They couldn't, no way. Since they didn't, how would they know what to do in their position? Questions that needed answers Synthesia couldn't provide. Regardless, he couldn't justoutright disregard him. He'd at least give him a sliver of a chance. Just a sliver.
So he'd need to get those answers from the source.
Finding the Lookout wasn't all too difficult. Synthesia lived in Fukurou, and had a strong connection to the Earth. The pillar resided right in his home. It was also convenient that the location of the lookout was broadcasted all over the world, but that wasn't a relevant piece of information.
Synthesia landed gracefully on the edge of the lookout. He slowly rose from his kneeling position and took a quick gander around- it was about what he expected. Beautiful, exquisite, godly, sacred and dreadfully boring. He wasn't here to have fun, though- he was here to figure out just what was going on here. The place seemed rather deserted- perhaps Neo was wrong, after all. However, Synthesia trusted his teammates, and he especially trusted Neo. He idly spun his Ruby pendant on his finger, getting a feel for the place, waiting for nothing to happen.
When nothing did happen, Synthesia supposed that he could try and do something. He cleared his throat. "If there's anyone here, COME OUT! I'm a Pride Trooper, and, uh, if you're god, you know Neo, or something, right? Please?" What did you even say to god, anyways? It probably didn't matter. He caught his Ruby in the palm of his hand, leaning against one of the well-kept trees of the lookout. He'd wait for a while, and if nobody was here, then well... it sure made his day a lot easier.
For now, though, he'd stare at his reflection in his Ruby. First impressions were important, right? He tucked a lock of hair behind his ear.

Chime's PL: 32,000
Luckily, Synthesia came calling to the Lookout on a day Chime was actually there. The new Kami had been fairly busy lately, between helping out around the reclaimed Satan City, several tense encounters around Fukurou forest, and a fighting tournament. He was tired, and had decided to take a day to himself, up on the Lookout and far away from anything that needed his attention. He'd climbed up one of the four towers surrounded the central temple, and settled in to meditate. After only a few minutes of sitting, he'd dozed off, and his meditation had become an afternoon nap. The little Namekian had been slumped like that for an hour or two, dead to the world, when his visitor started shouting for him.
"ZzWhha--?" Chime awoke with a start and flails his arms as he fell over from his sitting position. Who was here? Was there an emergency? His tired brain tried to run down the list of people who even knew to come find him up here, but after about a second he gave up and just went to see firsthand.
He pokes his head over the side of the tower to find...someone he had never met before. Oh. That was strange. They appeared human, more or less, with long green hair and robes, but there was something unique about their aura Chime couldn't put his finger on. Whatever it was, it didn't feel sinister, like a demon or some other dark being in disguise. Simply...different. Well, best not to keep them waiting. Chime waved down to the green-haired individual, and called, "Hello! Hi! I'll be down in a second!"
And in only a moment or two, a small green Namekian was floating down out of the tower, and walking towards the trees where Synthesia was leaning. He stopped a couple feet from the man and gave him a brief bow in greeting, "Hey there. I'm Chime. I'm...well, you were asking for god, and I dunno how godly I am, but I am the Kami. Did you say yo--" He interrupted himself, entirely by accident, with a big yawn. He didn't even cover his mouth, "-- Aah, oops. Sorry. But uh, you said you were a Pride Trooper, right? Do they need help somewhere?"

Synthesia's eyes narrowed at the Kami. It wasn't even a human! Calm! He needed to be nice and calm. "NO. We don't need your help. At all." He spat out, perhaps a little more viciously than was completely warranted. Synthesia tossed his Ruby up and down as he looked the new Kami over, trying to get a read on him. He was fairly strong, or perhaps that was the Earth showing it's bias towards the Kami. Synthesia didn't really know.
Speaking of, Synthesia jutted out a finger towards the new Kami, wiggling it around a bit. "A Namekian, huh? Weird. Whatever. It's cool. I'm not here on Pride Trooper business, I'm here because you should know about me." Synthesia's finger extended outwards, a fresh vine with lovely flowers blooming blooming forth from the limb and coiling around the child. He placed his other hand to his chest. "I'm a Nature Guardian. I come from Fukurou. I guess you could, uh, call this personal business? Probably."
Synthesia nodded, placing his Ruby back around his neck where it belonged. "So, I want to know what you exactly plan to do here, pretty much. You aren't a human or a nature being like me-" The latter was spoken with the ever-so-slight tinge of pride. -so I gotta know why the Earth picked you. Got it?"

Chime's brows raised at the stranger's sharp tone. Well now he was fully awake. Had he done something to offend the man? Was it the yawn? Chime frowned further as he continued. Why was it weird that he was Namekian? They were both green, that should afford them some sort of kinship, right?
That strange (and frankly kind of awkward, at least for Chime) was momentarily forgotten, as this visitor made flowers bloom from his hands with seemingly no effort at all. Chime's eyes went wide, and he gasped, "Wow! That's really neat! I can make things, too, but nothing like that. They wouldn't really be alive." The Namekian tilted his head to the side as the Guardian explained further, "The forest down bellow is your home? I've been trying to protect it, since the Senbyo is gone. It's good to know there's someone else doing the same! That forest is really ancient, isn't it?"
And just like that, the awkward, tense feeling was back. So this was why the Guardian was here. He was questioning why Chime was the Guardian. The Namekian sighed. He really should have expected something like this from someone, but somehow, it hadn't occurred to him, "Well...I don't know that the Earth did pick me. It feels like the opposite. I picked the Earth. I left Namek some time ago to come here, see," He started to gesture with his hands as he explained, "There's so many stories about this place! I wanted to improve myself, and I knew I couldn't do it just sitting around at home seeing the same people, doing the same things every day. So I came here. And I'd barely been here a week when I learned this planet didn't have Dragon Balls anymore!"
Chime started to wave his hands more excitedly as he continued his story, "It seemed like fate. So I decided to dedicate myself to that. And I know I'm not an Earthling, but...I've gotten to really like it here. On Namek, everyone is so similar! Here, there's so much variety, I feel like I still haven't seen a tenth of it yet! It's amazing." His face broke into a grin, which faltered pretty quickly, and he looked embarrassed for getting so wrapped up in his own little story, "...Uh. I hope that answers your question?"

Synthesia felt a small swell of pride as Chime went on about his affection for the planet. It seemed really genuine! Like how Synthesia might've described the forest, or how Terryn would have described 'button mashers.' He could feel the emotion! Maybe the green man wasn't such a bad guy, after all. Synthesia cursed his inability to stay angry for no reason.
Synthesia listened intently, and when the Kami was finished, his vine-finger jutted towards Chime in a vine-point. "Nope. Things don't happen on the Earth for no reason. If you weren't suitable for the position, it wouldn't have done as such. You gotta remember that!" Synthesia nodded enthusiastically, ready to continue his little spiel. He sure thought the Guardian would've been a little more self-assured. And a little older. But that was alright! He was a lean, green, socially awkward machine. Synthesia supposed not everyone could have as much charisma as he did.
"So, uh, you came here for self-improvement. That's good! I like improving myself, too." As if to prove his point, Synthesia pulled up his sleeve and flexed, his noodle arms showing off his lack of muscle. He didn't know that, though. "Never forget your job, though! That's important. It's important to put the Earth first when you make choices, and stuff."
Synthesia pondered, his vine-finger tapping on his chin as he continued his contemplation. "Oh, like those Dragon Balls! I know about those. Could you imagine the type of destruction that could happen if those were awakened? A bunch of power-hungry Aliens would probably come and ravage through cities and forests trying to find those things. It sounds awful!" Synthesia shot Chime an enthusiastic thumbs-up. "So, y'know. Just remember the Earth! You haven't made those silly Dragon Balls yet, so you're already doing a good job. Keep it up, buddy!" Synthesia beamed and gave Chime a pat on the shoulder.

The young Kami went a little cross-eyed looking at the vine-finger getting pointed at him. How was he doing that? Chime had never seen one with power over plants like this before. He'd said he was a Guardian of Nature, right? And if Chime was Guardian of Earth, did that mean...he was basically this guy's boss? He hadn't been expecting to be anyone's boss when he took the job.
Regardless of who in charge of who, when the Nature Guardian gave Chime his words of encouragement, the little Namekian positively glowed. He ate up praise like candy, and all it really took to get on his good side were some corny statements of 'You can do it!' and 'I believe in you!' His mood was lifted so much that, when Synthesia revealed his skinny arms and flexed, Chime couldn't help but laugh. Nevermind the fact that, if Chime were to flex, he'd look basically the same. His hand quickly darted up to cover his mouth, but he was still smiling, "Heh. Well, thanks! And I won't forget, don't worry. That's what I'm here, for."
Synthesia already knew about the Dragon Balls, which Chime was happy about for a split second, until the first thing the man said was how much destruction they would cause. He stopped smiling, and his eyes darted to the hand patting him on the shoulder. Welp. He would have to tiptoe his way through the next part of the conversation very carefully.
"I guess they could be used for evil, yeah. That's true of anything powerful, don't you think?" He replied at length, "I've seen the ones back home do good things, too. It's all in who finds them, right?" Chime shrugged, and tried to sound as casual as possible, but inside he was panicking a little, "What would you do, anyway? If they were awakened. Would you try and wish for something, or just leave them alone?" He tried to phrase it as a casual question, like a child asking 'if you could be any animal, which would you be?', when in reality, it carried a lot more weight than that.

Wow! This conversation was going great. It even seemed like the Guardian was asking him for advice on why to avoid the Dragonballs! What a good guy. Synthesia nodded at the question, idly playing with a piece of his hair as he pondered over it. "...hm, probably revive the people who died in Satan City, first and foremost. It'd be the same if another catastrophe like that occurred- make sure innocent lives are saved first. If nothing like that was around, then I'd probably wish for power. Either for myself, or for someone who I trust wants best for the Earth, like Terryn! Or you, I guess, since you're the Kami and all." Synth finished his thought before he put up his finger to stop the Namekian from saying any more.
"Aha, but see, that's not the only problem they cause." Synthesia cast his vine-finger towards the sky. "See, even if good people get their hands on the Dragonballs, the damage had already been done. Lots more Aliens would be brought to Earth. People would fight over the Dragonballs." Synthesia cast his gaze downwards. "Maybe some bad people would fight in the middle of a city. In the middle of Fukurou. They could cause damage, too." Synthesia turned his gaze up towards Chime, a weary look on his face. "If you make the Dragonballs to revive people, more people might die looking for it. Then you'll need more Dragonballs to bring them back. Do you see where I'm coming from?"
Synthesia bit his lip. The conversation didn't really end up where he wanted it to, and he might've said too much in response to a simple question. Regardless, these were words Synthesia felt that this new Kami needed to hear- sooner rather than later, before he did something drastic. "I think trying to bring back life goes against the laws of nature. The cycle of life is a real thing. By trying to bring others back, others might die. It's a vicious cycle." Synthesia nodded. "That's why there's never a reason to bring out the Dragonballs. Other kinds of wishes are selfish, and are absolutely not worth putting the entire earth at risk for."

Chime settled with his hands behind his back as he listened to Synthesia go on. The Nature Guardian was bringing up some good points, he'd admit that, and he could understand his viewpoint. That didn't mean he agreed with it.
"Reviving everyone from the whole Satan and Badman City thing would be my first priority, too. After that, I'm not sure. If other's thought it was a good idea to give me power, I'd go along with it," he gestured to Synthesia, "But wishing for power for myself feels...weird. Selfish? Something like that."
The issue of outsiders being drawn to fight over the Dragon Balls came up, as Chime assumed it would, but he had an answer for that, too, "That's a pretty reasonable concern to have. I don't want people coming to Earth and causing trouble either, obviously, I'm the Guardian. But that's already happening. You said it yourself: people died in Satan City. That wasn't because of Dragon Balls, that was because...I'm still not sure why. A show of power is the best I've been able to figure out. To make us afraid. Why else would you ruin just one city like that, and then leave, not stay to rule over it? Unless they're just really stupid, they're being tactical. There's something much bigger coming, that was just the warm-up."
"And if something big is coming, and we have something that can protect us, what sort of Guardian would I be if I didn't use it?" Chime's tone got more intense as he continued, "The Dragon Balls are powerful, yes, but they're not weapons. They're a means for people to choose their own fate. We can do that every day, of course, in smaller ways, but a wish from an Eternal Dragon? That's a way to tip the scales dramatically in your favor. Against evil. The evil will want to get their hands on them too, I know that, but the evil exists anyway. If it wasn't Dragon Balls, it would be something else. Land, resources, riches...someone always wants something."
Chime took a deep breath. He hadn't meant to go on a lecture like that, but he just kept rambling on. He looked Synthesia dead in the eye to make his final point. Either the Guardian of Nature would be swayed to his side, or he was about to get a slap in the face, "Bringing people back from the dead is unnatural, yes, but I think it's far more unnatural for cities worth of people to suffer if something can be done about it. That's why I re-awakened Shenron, and activated the Dragon Balls."

"Oh."
The simple word was the only response to the bombshell of a statement that had just been brought on the Child of Nature. There was no fit of rage, no temper tantrum- there was only silence. Lots and lots of silence. Synthesia slunk back against the wall he was leaning against, deflating like a balloon as his tiny form slunk to the ground. The look on his face was indecipherable. What Chime had said to the boy had registered as little more than confirmation that destruction of his home was inevitable. Silence.
Synthesia really wanted to ignore the facts put in front of him. He really did. Synthesia wanted to pretend like his life could go on as it had for years; whimsically flowing from day-to-day without a care in the world. That's how he wanted his short life to be- living on a peaceful Earth, an Earth that never needed to think about alien ambition or amoral monsters. But, alas, he needed to think about those things, and if he had as much time left as he thought he did, that would be his life. There would always be something. Synthesia's eyes looked right past the Namekian, staring off at nothing. Silence.
For the first time, Synthesia questioned his purpose. He never really found a purpose himself- his purpose was given to him. He loved the Earth, but he never considered if protecting it was really the thing that he wanted out of life. People like Terryn, people like this new Kami, they came to that conclusion themselves. Synthesia simply didn't. He wanted to give up. Silence.
However, he was a Pride Trooper. He made a promise. He broke the rules of the very earth itself. He had come so far already. He couldn't think like this- no, he wouldn't. If he didn't need to stand up now, he would need to stand up later. If he spent his days how he liked, he had far less days to spend. He'd just do what he needed to do, for now- maybe someday, he'd figure out something better. Silence.
He sat up slightly, his knees bending as he pushed himself back up the wall to a standing position. He looked towards the Namekian, averting his gaze to the floor. "ᵒᵏᵃʸ, ᴵ'ˡˡ ᵗʳᵘˢᵗ ʸᵒᵘ." Synthesia whispered, barely audible if not for the deafening silence that trailed before it. There was nothing he could do but trust the Kami. If he didn't, well, he'd be putting his faith in something far worse.
"But..." Synthesia's eyes trailed upwards. He bit the inside of his lip. "If something really bad happens to this Earth because you made those Dragonballs..." His gaze shot upwards. His eyes narrowed. His pendant flashed red.
"I'll ͞nev̶er҉ ̕f͢oŕgive̶ ̕yo̸ư."
Synthesia blinked a few times, scratching the back of his head like nothing had happened. He let out a slight laugh. "...Oh yeah, I just remembered, my name's Synthesia! It's, uh, good to meet you, I guess."

As Synthesia sunk down to the ground, Chime didn't try to approach. He couldn't tell if the Nature Guardian was angry with him, sad, or just generally upset, but he could tell that he wasn't pleased. Normally he would try and comfort someone if they were in a state like this, but in this case, where Chime was the cause of their distress in the first place, he thought it best to just keep back. He still didn't regret creating the Dragon Balls, but he did regret making Synthesia upset. In retrospect, he could probably have dropped the information on him a little more gently, but he'd been antipating an argument, or even a fight, not...silence. That was somehow worse.
He gave Sythnesia the time he needed to recompose himself, and when the green-haired boy stood again, Chime's ears caught that quiet "I'll trust you." He smiled up at Sythesia, with a hint of sadness, "...Thank you. I know I haven't done anything to earn that trust yet, but I'll try my best."
When the pendant flashed, Chime's eyes were drawn to it, and the change in Synthesia's tone wasn't lost on him. His eyebrows raised, though he was less concerned with the vague threat and more with whatever that red gem was. Was it magic? Was it...sinister? It looked out of place on Synthesia's person, but he decided not to pry into it for now. Maybe later, when the two were on (hopefully) better terms, he would ask.
"I wouldn't forgive myself either, honestly. But I really do believe it's for the best," He gave another brief bow as he finally got a proper introduction, "It's good to meet you, Synthesia. I didn't know the Fukurou Forest had a guardian. I was under the impression that was part of the Senbyo's duties, and since he's...absent, I've been trying to watch over the forest when I can. You probably do a better job than I can, though," Chime tilted his head to the side as a thought came to him, "Actually, you must know all sorts of things about the Earth that I don't. I'm the Guardian, but I'm still pretty new here. If you could teach me, I'd be really grateful!" Was he trying to get on Synthesia's good side, butter him up? A little bit, but he also genuinely wanted to know more about the planet he was now bound to.

Synthesia nodded at the Kami's next words. He was still distraught- very much so, -but he wasn't keen on dwelling on this distress. Maybe things would work out, after all. Luckily, Synthesia didn't really need to make up any kind of excuse, as the Kami seemed more than willing to change the subject. Synthesia nodded at his words, tapping his chin absent-mindedly. "Yeah, it is partially the Senbyo's job to protect the forest. Nature has it's own Guardians too, though. A lot of them are really ancient and really grumpy, so I wouldn't bet on meeting them. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who decided to take on a human form, too... Or learn to speak the language... so, yeah. They're a little fickle, but they're just as important." Synthesia put his hands on his hips and nodded.
"There's lots of stuff the Senbyo can't do that I can. Monitor soil quality, manage invasive species, keep the special stuff like the Fountain of Youth hidden away. That kind of stuff." It was easy for Synthesia to talk about his home, and thus, easy to get his mind of the Namekian's previous statement. Synthesia may have not liked what he did, but he didn't hate him. Not really. He didn't really want to hate him. "There's only so much a normal being can do in that forest- it has a mind of it's own." Synthesia nodded and pointed downwards. "There's lots of sneaky types down there, Ninjas and all that. They hide in Fukurou because Fukurou hides itself better than anything else in the world! Someday, I'll show you how it works, maybe."
Synthesia took a look around the lookout, spotting a tree. Synthesia pointed to it. "I know a lot about the world! Mostly plants, though. There's lots of wildlife up here- some of it was damaged by the little scuffle here a while back -but it can always be regrown." Synthesia nodded, turning his attention back to Chime. "There's lots of Earth and Human stuff you could learn, but lots of people can teach you that in lots of places. I think you should learn how nature works! Synthesia nodded enthusiastically. Maybe he could make common ground with him?
"I can teach you the basics- then you could take care of the trees and plants on this lookout. Maybe even get a plant you like to look at- oh, Bonsai trees are cute! They require some care too..." Synthesia shot the Namekian a weak thumbs-up. "There's no better way to get an appreciation for nature than to take care of some yourself. It'll show you just how this planet works, at it's core!"

Chime smiled as Synthesia latched onto the change of topic immediately. He didn't want to dwell on the negativity, either, and he was happy that the Nature Guardian didn't seem to be holding a grudge. Apparently, he wasn't human at all, but only took the form of one. Chime had thought something was a little off about the green haired man, but he hadn't suspected he was a tree-person. Just a shaman or something, maybe a very human-like alien. The other's of his kind were old and grumpy, according to Synthesia, and Chime couldn't help but imagine a big tree with an old man's face shaped into the bark, scowling. His mouth twitched upward a little at the thought.
As Synthesia went on to explain all the things hidden within Fukurou forest, Chime's eyes grew wider and wider, "There's ninjas?! I've never seen any ninjas! ...Well, I guess because they're...ninjas...right," He glanced aside and felt a little foolish for that one, then continued, "But a fountain of youth, too? That's amazing! Where is-- oh. I guess you probably can't tell me, huh? That's alright."
He followed Synthesia's gaze over to the tree as he continued to talk. Slowly, he'd nod, "Learn how the planet works...I think I'd really like that, thank you. I know the basics of how plants and gardening works, but I wouldn't call myself a specialist or anything. I know they need water, and sunlight, and you need to talk to them nicely...kinda like me!" Chime laughed a little at his own comparison, "All Namekians, really. Just don't bury us in soil, that would be bad. But besides that I guess we're pretty similar!" He returned Synth's thumbs-up with a smile.

Synthesia giggled a little bit at Chime's little jape. He guessed Namekians and himself were pretty similar- perhaps he had a distant relative? Well, questions for later. He seemed to understand what Synthesia was saying- that was good! He seemed enthusiastic to learn, and while Synthesia wasn't the best teacher, he certainly enjoyed himself whilst doing it.
He spun around slightly and gave Chime a bow. "Yeah! It's important to tell plants nice things. After all, they don't live very long." Synthesia nodded, jutting out his hand towards Chime. Just like the first time he demonstrated his gift, his fingers erupted into vines and flowers that bloomed and erupted forwards. He smiled. "See?"
Moments later, though, the scene got a bit more morbid. The flowers began to turn brown at their tips, and his vines began to wilt and lose form. This continued, the masses of plant matter twisting and morphing in a violently sped up version of decomposition. Eventually, the vines fell loose from Synthesia's hand, the rotten mass being replaced with fresh plant material. Said material re-formed into his fingers, which he wiggled around.
"Tell plants nice things, and appreciate them while they're still around to be appreciated." Synthesia placed his own hand on his chest. "Myself being a nature spirit forced into a physical form caused some... complications. Nature spirits have incomprehensibly long life spans- thousands, tens of thousands of years. That's how long we're expected to exist, and thus, we're given energy to last that long. Do you see?" Synthesia tilted his head slightly. "But I'm a bit different. Plants wilt and die after only a few months- but I'm still alive. Existence for a Nature Spirit uses only a minimal amount of magical energy, but existing and keeping myself alive in a physical form rapidly drains my allotted energy. Do you see? One year of me living as a physical being costs me about 1,000 years off my lifespan."
Synthesia smiled, despite his rather dark and foreboding claims. "See, knowing I only have so much time to be alive gives me more appreciation for the time I have on this Earth. I think... I think you could understand humans, and the world, if you live like that. Mhm. Like you only have a few years to live." Synthesia stared out at the skies beyond the lookout, to nowhere in particular, to no one in particular.

Flowers! Synthesia was making flowers from his hand, how nice! Chime reached forward to touch one of the beautiful blossoms, but before he could, the petals and leaves began to wither before his eyes. They shriveled and decomposed, then fell off completely, and new vines reformed in their place, and before he knew it, Synthesia had a normal looking hand once again. By the end of the display, Chime looked vaguely horrified. He just blinked at the dead bits of flowers on the ground in front of him as Synthesia rambled on.
According to him, nature spirits lived for thousands upon thousands of years. That was longer than Chime could even imagine. But they weren't' supposed to be in human form. The image of a great big tree with a face appeared in his mind again, and then shrunk down until it was a little man with green hair. That little man apparently only had a few years to live in total. Chime's head snapped up and he looked to Synthesia in a panic, "Wait, what?!"
Without thinking about it, he rushed forward and grabbed the sleeve of Synthesia's white robes. He had a desperate look on his face, "You can't only live for a few years, that's...that's not fair! Besides, I only just met you, you can't be dying! How long do you have left, do you think? I know magic, y'know, and I'm a healer. If you need more energy, I bet I can find some way to get it to you!" He continually tugged on Synth's sleeve as he spoke. How could the spirit be so calm about this?!

"Please, relax. Deep breaths. Don't worry about me."
Synthesia placed both of his hands on Chime's shoulders to try and keep him still and calm his nerves somewhat. "I've lived for around seven years. I'd say, at best, I could live for another seven. At worst, I have three. It depends, really." Synthesia gave Chime a gentle smile, once again trying to get the new Kami to calm his nerves.
His offer was tempting. But frankly, Synthesia didn't know if it would work. The energy it took to sustain him was immense- extra magical power might only be able to fuel him for a few days at most. Not to mention, the magical energy he drew from the Earth was specifically that of plant magic- specifically the magic granted to Nature Spirits. He wasn't sure it was possible to re-create the phenomena.
"Of course it's fair. I may not live long, but I can live a live nobody else has lived. I'm unique. There's never been a person like me, or a person like you, ever before in history. Isn't that crazy?" He chuckled and removed his hands from Chime's shoulder, placing them on his hips instead. "You Namekians can live for a long, long time, right? As Kami, you will meet all kinds of people, some who'll come to you for help, some who'll help you in turn. It's likely, though, that you'll outlive these people by years and years, and the one who'll need to remember them will fall back to you." Synthesia pointed right at Chime's heart, or at least, where it would be were he a human being.
"See? I won't be the last one that will do this to you. If you're gonna be Kami, then you need to know that things don't last forever. Good things and bad things alike. That's how life works- it's how the Earth works. Plants exist for the sole purpose of passing on their seeds to grow the next generation. Those seeds will do the same. Animals have the same goal, as do people, and any other species that walks and talks like we do. It's a natural process- don't let it tear you apart, alright?"
Synthesia sighed and furrowed his eyebrows. "Ah, sorry. I've talked so much. I didn't mean to lecture you or anything. It's just... you know. The Earth means a lot to me. I just want to make sure that it means a lot to you, too."
