With Synthesia's hands on his shoulders, Chime tried to take some deep breaths to calm himself. Fretting wouldn't help anything, he knew that, and he was just about settled down when the Nature Guardian dropped another gutpunch of information, and that sent him right back to square one. Seven years?! That meant he'd only live to be fourteen, in the best case scenario. Chime had lived a few more years than that, and he still felt so young, like his life was just getting started! Someone younger than himself shouldn't be dying!Synthesia tried to reassure him that, no matter how long a life was, it was valuable because it was unique. He supposed that was true. Even as a Namekian, he wasn't exactly the same as his father, or his grandfather. There were slight variations each generation, so they weren't just a planet full of identical clones. There was some sense to what he was saying. Chime started to find his calm once again, only to be derailed a second time by Synthesia's comments. Namekian's lived a long time, longer than most Earthlings, that was true, that was a fact he knew, but he'd never sit down and actually thought about it. Now that he was, his mind reeled. He only faintly registered the rest of what Synthesia said as the nature spirit rambled on, too lost in his own thoughts to pay attention. As Guardian of Earth, his job was to protect the people of Earth, on the most basic level that was his duty. But it had never occurred to him that he could save them from destruction one day, only to live to lose them down the line anyway. He thought of all the people he'd met on Earth, all the friends he'd made, and then he imagined them fading away one by one, and him left alone, a wrinkled green Namekian in a solitary vigil on the Lookout."I-- I'm sorry, but I'll have to cut this meeting short," Chime said suddenly, once Synth had finished, "Thank you for your wisdom, Synthesia. I...look forward to speaking to you again another time. But I, um. I have many duties to attend to. Have a good day." He bowed a farewell, then kept his head ducked as he walked past Synthesia, towards the main building of the Lookout, wiping his eyes on his arm as he went.
attempted exit, unless Synth follows him of course
