It sure was nice of Kayen to accept Nashua's offer to ride to Vegeta with her! The Saiyan had made sure she packed enough blankets and food for the both of them to sleep and eat comfortably over the twenty four hour trip, along with a few things they could use to kill time, then took off, blasting into the stars at full speed. Even as fast as the ship was, it was going to take the full day to reach their destination. But, maybe that was a good thing: Nashua and Kayen had never really had any one on one interactions with each other. And, seeing as how Kayen was potentially Nashua's future Queen, if the pirate was able to win the rematch, then it was better to get to know her before she stood way above Nashua on the ladder of authority.
After they'd been flying for a little while, and Namek was but a speck in the distance behind them, Nashua switched on the autopilot after plugging Vegeta's coordinates in, then swiveled around in her chair to look back at Kayen. "So, we should be arriving in almost exactly a day from now," she said with a smile. She was happy to go back again, but also a little nervous. There was no telling what would actually be awaiting them once they arrived. Could there be a force more powerful than Boreal? An entire legion of troops waiting to blast them out of the sky? Were Vocado and Ramen even safe, even still alive? Nashua tried her best not to worry about those kinds of things, but, well, it was hard to control what thoughts her mind keep leaping towards. Maybe making small talk with Kayen would help to ease her worries.
"I heard you're a descendant of the old Queen Habana, right?" Nashua asked, figuring Kayen would like to talk about herself above all things to begin with. "I like her. She was always one of my favorite Queens from the Empire era! Most people say Zucceta, but Habana was a lot less, uh, brutish. I think it's thanks to her that the Saiyan Kingdom even came to be!" Nashua smiled up at Kayen, trying to find some sort of resemblance between her and her old ancestor, though found it difficult to tell if anything was there, what with Kayen missing an eye and having a completely different hair color and style. "I don't actually know who my ancestors were that were alive at the time, but I bet they worked under your own great, great grandma's rule, too. Isn't that interesting to think about?"

Kayen perhaps should have realized that at the very least the initial part of the ride to Vegeta would be rather boring. Nashua’s ship was not so massive that it would have a crew which of course meant that at least for the takeoff Nashua would have to take the reigns and pilot it herself until they reached a point where autopilot could safely be engaged. It was pretty much exactly how Kayen’s own ship functioned but it seemed it took even longer to reach a safe point for Autopilot due to the increased size of Nashua’s ship, back on Raiti the ships they had used pretty much required constant supervision due to their bulk, autopilot was in general more used as an additional pilot it took care of the more mundane tasks while the proper pilot maintained a course for their destination. Her personal ship was small enough that the autopilot had plenty of time to correct its course to avoid space debris or incoming meteors, but eventually Kayen saw Nashua spin around from the controls, a day was fine, her own ship probably would have taken about that long as well. The younger Saiyan seemed to take a few moments mulling over her thoughts before speaking up again. To Kayen’s surprise, she asked about her, specifically if she was actually descended from Habana. Apparently her ancestor was a favorite of Nashua’s though from what she said it was for all the, in Kayen’s opinion, wrong reasons. Habana technically WAS the reason that the Empire had fallen and become the Kingdom though Kayen highly doubted her ancestor would have been particularly pleased with the exact route things had gone down if she had lived to see it all. “I am, and I am unsurprisingly fond of her as well. I’d place the Kingdom’s existence less on her shoulders though. She probably wouldn't have been overly fond of just how much the Empire changed once she stepped down from the throne” Kayen raised an eyebrow at Nashua as she took a long few moments just sort of staring at her almost like she was trying to find something. “Probably, if they were reasonably strong they might have even gotten to directly interact, from what I know she was pretty hands on before she took the throne, when she was Commander” Kayen said with a shrug, if Nashua did not know her relations from that time it was impossible to tell unless she knew their relative strength. As far as Kayen knew her ancestor had primarily dealt with warriors she saw that had a lot of ‘potential’ even if they were not already powerful. “What did you do before the whole Fleet chaos? I assume Vocado was busy being fancy elite but it’s less easy for me to pin down what you might have been” Kayen asked, she was incredibly powerful NOW but that did not necessarily translate to being powerful during a time of peace, before being given a reason to grow strong.

Nashua raised a bit of an eyebrow as Kayen implied Habana might not be so fond of the current state of the Kingdom. She wanted to say something to its defense, but decided it probably wasn't a good idea to immediately get into a debate about that sort of thing. Besides, Kayen probably knew more about her ancestor than Nashua did. Maybe she just meant that Habana wouldn't have been impressed with how Vegeta had been conquered so easily. From what Nashua had heard, Habana was one of the most powerful Saiyans in all of recorded history, if not the most powerful. It was a big shoe for Kayen to fill! "Well, I'm not sure how strong they were," Nashua admitted, "And, my grandmother on my mom's side actually wasn't Saiyan at all, so that part of the family probably never met Habana, at least."
She pointed up at her eyes and hair, adding, "That's why these aren't all black, probably, like most Saiyans' are." That was what she assumed, anyway. When Kayen asked Nashua about what she did before the whole conflict began, the Saiyan happily replied, "Oh, I was a foreign relations ambassador! That means I went to other planets and settled deals or smoothed over some minor conflicts that broke out. It didn't involve a whole lot of fighting, though." She thought back on a couple of times that she'd gotten into tiny squabbles with the people she was supposed to be meeting with, though most of them never escalated further than one or two people attacking her. And they weren't exactly strong. Though, neither was she. "It might be hard to believe, but before all this started, I was probably one of the weaker Saiyans around," Nashua added.
"I think my power level was... Two hundred? Somewhere around there until about ten months ago or so. But I got a pretty good zenkai outta getting blasted off of Vegeta." She let out an awkward chuckle as she very faintly recalled how close to death she'd been after the initial invasion. It was gonna feel great to finally strike back the next day. "So, what about you?" Nashua asked, leaning forward in her chair towards Kayen. "I don't know, like, anything else about you from before quite recently. Aside from the whole Habana thing. I assumed you were some kind of pirate, or something, though are you just wearing that eyepatch cause you couldn't afford one of those cybernetic eyes?"

Kayen raised an eyebrow as Nashua mentioned her grandmother being only part Saiyan, that was interesting, Kayen’s family certainly had not shied away from the same, Habana had herself been half Saiyan, and while Kayen was more than half Saiyan she knew there were some other elements to her own immediate background “Interesting, Human? You don’t have much of a look about you that points to anything else though I suppose it’s entire possible if it was anything else you are separated far enough for the Saiyan look to take hold again” Kayen asked with a tone of genuine curiosity, there WERE a few other species out in the universe that had a look close enough to Saiyans to end up with a similar sort of appearance but Humans almost always seemed to be the most likely ones. “Habana was half Human so I have a bit of that in me by extension, I don't know for certain if my direct family had any others, my great grandfather might have been a Demon, though I never did find out if that was just hyperbole or not from my Grandmother” Kayen said with a shrug, her great grandparents had always been a strangely murky subject in the family despite how readily everyone else was spoken of, the stories about them always seemed to dry up. Kayen found herself not TOO surprised when Nashua said she had been an ambassador, she had a pleasant sort of demeanor that likely suited that sort of work for the once peaceful Saiyan Kingdom, the only surprising part was her age, it was impressive that she was trusted with diplomacy despite being relatively young. Any thoughts on that, however, were halted as Nashua mentioned how strong she had been before things had heated up. Two hundred. Kayen had never bothered much with scouters but she knew roughly how the numbers equated to what she could feel, two hundred was… it was NOTHING, it was astounding just how far that meant she had come, even with the Zenkai she mentioned, she had a power that burned stronger than pretty much anyone Kayen had ever met short of those augmenting their power. “I still am, technically at least. I left home early, joined up with a crew, my captain taught me for a while, I eventually killed him and took over. I whipped the crew into shape and made it stronger, I’ve always been strong so it wasn’t hard to use that to do what I needed to take control, I took over a few other crews and then Raiti itself. Spent most of my time after that being a general pain in the ass to… well everyone” Kayen said with a shrug recounting the major beats of her more immediate history as if it were nothing of consequence. “I lost my eye a few years ago, because I was stupid” Kayen said shrugging again “I could have gotten a replacement but it wasn’t really necessary, I’ve had a talent for energy sensing since I was little so it covers most of the usual problems with only having one eye. It also acts as a reminder for me” Kayen said not actually offering what it was supposed to be a reminder of.

"I dunno, might have been human, might have been something else," Nashua replied with a shrug as Kayen inquired more into her heritage. She'd never really asked before when she'd had the chance, and now the answer to that question lay in a grave with the rest of her family. Hearing about Kayen's own heritage was pretty interesting - her eyes and hair betrayed the fact that she wasn't a pure Saiyan, and, as she'd just said, Saiyan - Human hybrids were the most usual sort of interbred, as far as Nashua had seen. Tarch was one, right? Nashua had a feeling Ramen might have been, too, but distantly, which would explain her lack of a tail and the bright red hair. The human certainly had the same kind of muscle and strength of will that all of Nashua's tailed comrades had in common, that much was for certain!
"You uh, killed your mentor?" Nashua asked with some clear discomfort at the thought. "I mean, I guess that's sort of how rising to the Saiyan throne works. Although you don't have to kill the opponent, just... Beat them." She supposed pirates were notoriously barbaric, and most of the general population of the galaxy wasn't so adverse to killing as she was, but it was still a strange thing for Kayen to speak so casually about. "What'd you lose it doing?" Nashua asked in reference to the pirate captain's eye shortly after she finished speaking, although she quickly realized it must have still been a sore subject for Kayen. "Oh, actually, sorry, you don't have to say if you don't want! But the eyepatch sure does complete your whole 'yar har I'm a pirate' aesthetic!" Nashua smiled up at Kayen as if she had no idea of the ridiculousness she'd just said - which, to be fair, she didn't.
The Saiyan swiveled back around in her chair, and checked the autopilot quickly to make sure it was on course okay - which it was - then swiveled straight back around and stood up, walking over towards one of the ship's cabinets and shuffling through it. "It's gonna be a long trip, anyway, so we might as well get comfortable and have a snack!" Nashua called back towards Kayen with her head still deep into the cabinet. After a few moments, she turned around with a box of crackers and a bottle of diet soda in her hands. "Do you like grape flavored hetap or orange flavored? I think those are the only two I have. And I never bought a mini fridge, so they're just room temperature, if that's okay. And then the crackers are whole wheat!" Nashua waited expectantly for Kayen's response, a beaming smile on her face the whole time. It was nice to make the trip with a friend, this time!

The discomfort Nashua displayed when Kayen mentioned killing her captain had caught her a bit by surprise, it was easy to forget that the others were not quite as accustomed to the brutal sort of life that she was, Vegeta had become a more peaceful place where violent ascension through the ranks was a rarity while among pirates it was very much the norm. “He wasn’t really my mentor, he was the Captain. He was decently strong, enough to keep his position especially with the members of the crew that were loyal to him backing him up, for as long as he had, but he wasn’t REALLY a good fit, he was more concerned with appearing impressive rather than actually achieving anything with his crew. I got together with a few of the others who wanted to be something more and we fought, they made sure I got a one on one fight and well… he wasn’t exactly going to accept stepping down” Kayen said with a shrug, the fight had been a bit rough especially since she had to rely entirely on her base strength since it had happened while they were en route to another planet. Kayen’s lip twitched a bit in discomfort when Nashua asked about her eye “It’s fine. It was a fight that went wrong” Kayen gave a flat and specifically without detail answer if only to give her something, it was however very clear she wanted no part in explaining further. “You don't have anything a bit... Stronger, do you?” Kayen questioned hopefully staring briefly at the soda before returning her gaze back to Nashua, she already had a sinking feeling though that she knew what the answer would be and she immediately regretted leaving what remained of her ‘provisions’ on her ship, the Eclipse was safely hidden away inside a capsule meaning what remained of her booze was trapped there until they reached Vegeta.

As she'd been expecting, Kayen wasn't all too broken up about killing her captain. Nashua simply quietly nodded along as the pirate explained her reasoning, an while Nashua still disagreed, of course, she wasn't really looking to contest that any further. The guy was already dead, after all, no amount of complaining would undo that. And, also as she'd assumed, Kayen didn't want to give any further comment on the wound that cost her her left eye. That was fine, though; there was still plenty they could talk about! "Something... Stronger?" Nashua asked with a confused tilt of her head after Kayen made the request, clearly perplexed by the question. Something stronger to drink, right? Well, did that mean, like, a protein shake? Those made you stronger, but Nashua wasn't sure that was quite what Kayen was looking for. What exactly quantified a 'strong drink'? "...Oh!" Nashua exclaimed as she got what the pirate meant.
She held up a finger at Kayen to signal for her to wait a moment, then turned around and shoved her head back into the cabinet, pushing past a few boxes of cereal and other light snacks for a moment until she emerged again with a brown, glass bottle in her hand, a black label wrapped around its middle. The Saiyan carefully tossed the beverage over to Kayen before grabbing herself the orange hetap and popping it open with a sizzle."You're a root beer kind of girl, I should have figured!" Nashua exclaimed before taking a sip of her soft drink. Once the liquid had vanished down her throat and into her stomach, she started trying to think of more things to talk about. It was a bit tricky to tell what kinds of things Kayen might find interest in, compared to someone Nashua was more familiar with.
Mollusc would have liked talking about Porunga, Ramen probably would've enjoyed talking about her hairstyle, and Vocado was a stickler for the old Queens of the Empire. Maybe Kayen liked... "So, you uh, have any pets?" Nashua asked with a somewhat sheepish smile. "I don't, but I always liked dogs. They're adorable, especially the little ones with the floppy ears! I think I'd definitely want to get a beagle if I ever got myself one, though I could see going for a golden retriever, too, those are the friendliest!" She paused for a moment, thinking about dogs, then continued, "What about you, what would you want? It doesn't have to be a dog or anything, of course, but, you know, any kind of animal!"

Kayen’s eyebrow quirked at Nashua’s initial confusion over her request, at least as far as Kayen was concerned it was not something that SHOULD have been too confusing, perhaps it was less confusion and more concern? It would be a shame if she DIDN'T have any alcohol but not necessarily the worst thing, it would just make the trip definitely feel as long as it was going to be. But that was not a concern, or at least it did not SEEM like it was going to be as Nashua quickly seemed to understand her, the key word, of course, being that she seemed to as she returned to digging through the cabinets producing a bottle of something that she promptly tossed to Kayen who caught it easily enough even if she had not quite expected it. Kayen was just turning the bottle over in her hand to see if it was any familiar sort of brand as Nashua mentioned that it was beer. Root beer. Kayen let out a low sigh and cast a glance back at Nashua, it was so very strange how… innocent? She seemed if that was even the right word for it. She was of all the Saiyans Kayen had met in the Kingdom the strongest by no small margin, only Kayen herself and Vocado were particularly close to her and only Ramen exceeded her base strength. The fact she was without a tail made her far less of an actual threat but if she DID have it she could easily pose a genuine threat to either of them if she suddenly decided to toss herself into the crown battle. And yet she lacked any sort of vicious edge that Kayen usually associated with strong Saiyans, even the brat had a bit of a vicious streak once he actually got going. “Pets? Uhhh no, not really. We had some Saibamen that lasted a while back on Raiti if that counts, when I was younger my homeworld lacked any particularly interesting domesticated creatures and I was usually too focused on my training to take an interest in animals back then” Kayen said with a shrug, the Saibamen HAD been an amusing sort of distraction though until they eventually fell apart. She was unsure what sort of animal she would want, it really wasn't something she ever put much thought into. "Probably something that could put up a decent fight on its own, I hear Earth has some big lizard things, if they could actually be trained or something a smaller one of those could be interesting I guess" Kayen offered after a few moments of thought, she also finally pulled the cap off the root beer and took a drink from it.

It was only about halfway through Kayen's response to Nashua's pet question that the Saiyan realized what the pirate had probably meant when she'd asked for a 'stronger' drink: alcoholic beverages! Right. Well, the closest thing that was actually on board to that was the root beer Nashua had just tossed her. It was dangerous enough to be drinking and driving in a car, but drinking and driving in a space ship that was hurtling through the galaxy at speeds practically unrivaled across the universe? That was pure recipe for disaster! Although, it did occur to Nashua that she didn't have to do any of the drinking herself. That, and her ship was mostly on autopilot when traveling between planets. Oh, well. Maybe she could just stock up on a couple of beers or something for her passengers to possibly enjoy on later voyages.
"I've never really thought about Saibamen as uh, pets, though I suppose they do sort of qualify!" Nashua replied once Kayen had finished her piece, pausing momentarily to take a sip of her hetap. Once the liquid had gone down her throat, she continue, "Those things always kind of confused me. I couldn't picture myself being okay to self destruct on command like that!" She laughed a little bit, though her face took on a somewhat worried expression near the end. "N-Not to mean if I was ordered on some kind of suicide mission that I'd disobey you or Vocado's orders, of course! Dying for the Kingdom is uh, one of the most honorable deaths for a Saiyan to have! I just meant the, like, exploding yourself part." She'd already been accused of treason and punished for it once, and that was not an avenue she was looking forward to going down again.
"Oh, uh, speaking of Vocado," she continued after her reddened face had whitened back up a bit. "You aren't gonna, uh, kill him, right? If you beat him when you guys fight for the crown?" Nashua sounded quite genuinely concerned, and her fingers nervously tapped along the side of the plastic bottle she gripped at a hastened pace. "Um, I know you don't exactly have the reservations I do about ending lives and all, but uh, do you think you could... Try your best not to kill him? I don't think he'd kill you, he's a good person - not that I mean you're a bad person,, you're just, uh... Well, I don't know you as well, you know?" She grinned a bit sheepishly up at Kayen once she'd finished. Was she even managing to get her words across clearly with how nervous she was? "I hope he doesn't kill you either, of course!"

The Saibamen really HAD been an oddity, they certainly weren't the traditional sort of ‘pet’ but the boys had gotten sort-of attached to at the very least the game of keeping them alive and seeing what sort of chaos they would create while hopped up on sugar and booze, frankly Kayen was not entirely sure if the mess the Saiba’s had been fed actually contributed to their strangely long lifespans or somehow shortened what could have been indefinitely lasting Saibamen. Any further thoughts on the Saibamen were cut off by Nashua’s attempts to seemingly cover herself on what she must have thought was a possibly insubordinate comment as she quickly clarified that she would follow those sort of orders if given them, Kayen’s expression soured as she quickly tried to clear things up “Don’t. You aren’t any use to me or the Kingdom dead, anyone stupid enough to send you on any sort of genuine ‘suicide’ mission is probably just trying to get rid of you because you’re strong. If I DO somehow lose to him and he makes the idiotic choice to try to do that to you or anyone else I suggest you tell Vocado to shove it” The idea of wasting someone like Nashua, or really ANY soldier was idiot to her, yes some death was a sort of inevitability during war, especially with the kind of power being thrown around now, but there was a massive difference between the normal casualties of war and actively choosing to send your forces to a pointless death. “I’ll tell you the same thing I told Ramen before the first challenge, I make no promises, I can’t know for certain what I will need to do. If it is avoidable and he gives me no reason to change my decision, then he’ll live, I may not particularly LIKE him but he’s a strong warrior and if nothing else I know his presence would keep me sharp just in case he made a go at round three some time down the road”“But. I’m not about to hold back unless I decide it’s worth it, if he’s trying to kill me I’ll come at him with everything I have. I already know that not going for the kill is going to hinder me a bit, I could have probably had this all dealt with if I had been swinging to kill during the first fight” Her Final Slash had been a dead-on strike but held back just enough to keep it from being lethal, perhaps if she had put her all into it instead of leaving him clinging to consciousness he would have simply been cleaved in two.
