Nearly two centuries. Nearly two centuries had passed since he had been conceived, and yet he had no recollection of the majority of it. Not surprising since he was only conscious for a few days in each of those years, in order to allow his body to recover from its maturation and suspended animation cycles. But it seemed that his progenitors goal had been achieved though... his genetics had managed to stabilise, and he was alive.
Dreizehn looked around the lab that had been his home for so long, letting his hands rub across the old consoles, wiping away the layers of dust that had built up over the decades. There was a stuttering groan as ancient devices began to boot up once more as they detected movement in the lab, the geo-thermal engines that had been developed long ago by his father still providing power to the hidden facility. Lights began to blink into existence, and soon he could see everything clearly.
Bits and pieces were barely hanging together from rust and grime, steam was leaking out of some of the pipes. Overall the whole place was in a state of disrepair, but had managed to hold itself together long enough to see its final purpose brought to fruition.
"So much time has passed..." he said, feeling the need to vocalise himself even though there was no-one but himself to hear his words. His voice sounded strange to his ears, reverberating across the empty chamber. He caught sight of something in the faded metal, and decided to clear away the dust and webs so he could see what it was with greater clarity. What looked back at him was his own reflection.
He ran a hand through his silver hair, a throwback from his father's mixed genetics which was contrasting with his darkened skin tone of his mother. "Well, let's hope I don't stick out too much." he mused with a slight chuckle before he began to make his way out of the ancient laboratory, and into the wide open world. So much to see, so much to do... and an unspoken genetic destiny to fulfill.
First of all though, he had to discover how things worked in the Earth of today. Who was in charge, what the situation was politically across the galaxy, and then figure out where would be the best place to gather his strength. If he was going to work to protect this world, then he would need to improve himself dramatically. Not to mention familiarise himself with what exactly he could do. Unlike his father, he didn't have any tactical programming, nor innate knowledge of what his genetics allowed him to do... not yet at any rate. "Let's find ourselves a town first..." he mused, scanning the horizon before choosing a random direction and setting off that way on foot.
