Chime just blinked up at Sensoa with wide eyes as he pat him on the head. He could tell from the look on his face that his words hadn't made the demon feel any better, even before he said anything. As Sensoa went on telling Chime what his intentions were going forward, the little Namekian's whole posture drooped more and more. Sensoa was determined to leave the planet, out of some misguided (in Chime's opinion) idea that would make things better. He couldn't think of anything to say in response before the demon turned his back and, once again, walked out the door. Chime stood there staring as it closed behind him, then just slumped down to sit on the floor right where he stood. Barban sat on the couch clenching his hands together in frustration, and Hyuki stood not far away with the dishrag in her little paws. The cold wind howled outside, but other than that, a tense silence hung over the room.
Chime's gaze bored a hole into the demon family's carpet for a minute or so as he mulled over what just happened. He hadn't meant to cause such a problem for them, but...they would've found out what the Dragon Balls were for eventually, even if he hadn't told them now, and they'd probably have the some conflict, just weeks or months later. But that didn't mean Chime liked being the bearer of that news.
As he sat there, his expression slowly shifted from sad to something more angry and frustrated, and soon he was jumping to his feet again. He couldn't let Sensoa just run off without talking to him one more time. So he gave Barban an apologetic look, quickly told him, "...Sorry for ruining your dinner. It was really nice." And then ran out the door, hoping to catch Sensoa before he had the chance to fly off somewhere.
"Hey!" He'd shout to the demon's back once he'd caught up with him, "Wait a minute!" He'd only just apologized for shouting at Sensoa a few moments ago, and here he was, immediately doing it again. Chime pressed on, "Do you think I'm sticking my neck out for you or something? You're not 'dragging' me into anything! I'd be standing between the Earth and whoever wanted to harm it whether you were here or not, that's my job now, and that's what I'm going to be doing regardless of what you decide to do! If you want to run off to the Saiyans, then fine. Go. But don't say it's because you don't want me involved. I'm already involved. The Dragon Balls? The thing you gave Mumbo? I made those to begin with. It's...augh!" Chime threw his hands up over his head in frustration, "This isn't all about you, okay? That's...that's all I'm trying to say."
Just like that, the wind went out of Chime's sails again. His posture sagged, and he just looked a bit forlorn and sad again. He wasn't great at staying angry for long. A strong gust of wind blew by, and he quickly remembered he ran out here without his coat or hat or anything. He wrapped his arms around himself, shivered, and cursed under his breath in Namekian. It was damn cold out here.

Barban simply looked at Chime briefly as he spoke, only nodding his head as the namekian spoke before bolting out the door. He took a sip from his tea as he watched the door with a cold gaze. He then gave a small smile before placing the cup upon the plate and heading toward the kitchen where he was joined by Hyuki. Meanwhile in the forest, Sensoa was suddenly found by the namekian who then spoke up. The Namekian speaking but only irritating the demon further, who then turned to face the namekian as he spoke about the dragon balls. He then said it wasn't all about Sensoa, to which the demon's eyes narrowed as green light flared in them. In his mind he believed that either the namekian thought the demon selfish or stupid. Neither of which the demon believed to be true about himself. "About me? You little fool... Of course its not about me."The demon said before throwing out a hand to point out over the horizon in no particular direction. "Its about those who's lives were lost when the bounty hunters came looking for information..."He then pointed toward the house they had left, the little roof poking out over the trees. "Its about my family who was tortured by the bounty hunters because I was to weak to help them..."Sensoa then put a thumb to his chest and looked into the little namekian's eyes. "For nearly two centuries I've fought only for myself... I cared little for those around me. Comrades lay dying upon the ground and we marched over their wounded bodies to victory... But as the years dragged on."Sensoa said slowly lowering his arm, his voice lowering more to a sad tone unfitting for his normal personality. "I've come to view the world differently. I have two people I share a home with, I have people I don't want to see harmed. I know all to well that I am not able to win a war alone and without more allies at my side that which I fight to protect will only crumble around me even as I stand fast. No amount of struggling alone can prevent the things around you from disappearing if the many wish to take it from you."Sensoa looked at Chime, matching the young namekian in the eyes. "No boy... I do not think this is all about me. I want to gain an empire as an ally so that my betrayal of a world trading army isn't done before it began. I will go to an empire that has the resources, the materials and man power to fight back. There I will put in my aid and bring Barban where those who seek me harm cannot reach him as well. Not because I don't want to be hurt, but because I don't want those I love to perish needlessly. You know of the bounty hunters who attacked us yes?"Sensoa gestured toward down the hill, despite there being no way to see where his old home was it was a general wave. "They attacked Barban... tortured him not for another other reason other than to make me suffer. They were going to bleed him dry before my eyes and I would not have been able to stop them had I not blacked out in rage. But even then I lost if only barely. I am not able to stop them Chime, and those were just bounty hunters. The people I am betraying here are warriors who slaughter any who oppose them, and even those who do not."
Sensoa then turned his gaze to Chime and frowned. "I am going to the saiyan empire because I know I cannot win alone. You are strong Chime, and a good person. But we need a large force of people who are capable of running military sized bases, martial artists who spar fight among-st their peers for sport."Sensoa was referencing the tournament, the battles there had all been friendly in nature despite the oozaru that rampaged. It had all been relatively a peaceful event. This was war, a bloody one that spanned a thousand years. It was not something you simply end with a small group of fighters or a rag tag group of misfits. Sensoa had lived decades in a world filled with war, had seen the carnage brought on by such large scaled battles. His brother and him leading platoons of demons into cities to burn them to the ground. Bodies littering the streets and the smell of death in the air. "This is a war Chime... and I just gave a powerful relic over to a side who would turn this world to ash... just like I would have in the past. Now I want to protect it, but I cannot without help. So when I say I don't want to drag you into it, I am saying I will not watch you die because of the bounty hunters and the world trade fleet seeing you as my friend. If you involve yourself in this war, then I cannot stop you... but I won't let my past kill you simply because we are..."Sensoa almost said friends there, but stopped himself abruptly as he realized what he was about to say. Chime didn't care about him, so why should he care about this Namekian? He only care about the ball and Barban. The demon was just a byproduct of that relationship and had made that painfully clear when the dragon ball was brought up. Now he was confronted with that simply truth once more. Cassa hated him, Chime didn't care and Hale thought he was a coward... So why did he care if this world was turned to ash? Why did that bring a tightness to his chest and cause his pain heart ache? He didn't understand why he even cared at all...

Chime stood there and shivered while Sensoa told him his tale, and it wasn't all from the cold. He spoke of wars, terrible bloody conflicts with friends left in the dust where they fell. He spoke of the bounty hunters that had followed them to Earth, how they had nearly killed Barban, and how Sensoa had not been able to stop them. It was the type of conflict Chime had only read about in books, or heard of in stories. He'd never lived through it, and he hoped he would never have to, but he knew battle was fast approaching Earth. Maybe even war, but it wouldn't escalate that far if the Guardian could help it.
Once Sensoa was done, Chime just sighed and shook his head, "...You're really stubborn, aren't you? Everything you just talked about was horrible, I'm not trying to dismiss that, but just..listen to me, okay?" He took a few steps forward in the snow, so he could really look the demon in the face, "This whole thing with the Dragon Balls...yeah, I'd rather you not have given the Fleet one like that, but you didn't know. And even if none of that happened, the Fleet would be after me anyway!I'm the Guardian, I'm going to stop them from taking the Earth no matter what. If anyone..." he had to pause and gather himself for a moment, "...If anyone kills me, it'll be because I'm the Kami, not because I'm your friend, okay? So stop beating yourself up about that part." It was much easier for Chime to admit to friendship than it was for Sensoa. He'd just flown many miles, through the freezing cold, to have dinner with his family, and now he was back out in the snow trying to make him feel better. He didn't know of a word for that, besides friendship.
"But, hey!" Chime forced himself to grin, to try and lighten the mood, "No one's gonna kill me! I'm sturdier than I look," He gave himself a couple of thumps on his chest with his fist, "We Namekians are deceptively strong. Any--aah. Aah. ACHOO!" He sneezed mid-sentence, undermining his own point. He sniffled and shivered some more.
"...Eugh. Anyway. I think the Earth is stronger than you give it credit for. Maybe we're a ragtag bunch, sure, but I think if we all work together, we really do stand a chance. ...I'm counting you in that, y'know." He looked up at Sensoa with a bit of a smirk on his face, "If you still want to go to the Saiyans, then...that's your decision, I'm not going to beg you or anything. Just know I'm not going to wait for you to get back to go looking for the Dragon Balls."

Sensoa watched the namekian as he spoke, talking about how the world trade fleet would attack him regardless. He had made this 'dragon ball' which he assumed was the sphere that they spoke about. He then went on to talk about how sturdy he was before sneezing mid sentence from the cold. It was clear the little namekian didn't sit will in the cold, which the demon hadn't really thought of till just now. A sigh escaping his mouth as the namekian continued to speak, his hand upon his head in a disgruntled manner. The namekian was just as stubborn as he was and the two could spend all day arguing, but that would get them no where.
"I have to Chime. But I will return... I will come back here and get the ball back. But once I do I make no promise's to fight further than that. I simply wish to repay my debts."
Sensoa looked down at his arm, gently placing a hand over the scarred arm. It had never healed properly, he could fight just fine sure, but the grip upon his blade was weaker and it hampered him a bit. He held no ill will or even knew about the fact it had been left to scar by Chime. To him it was a reminder that someone had helped him in their time of need, and showed him a new path in life. Well the start he supposed. It was the beginning steps and he appreciated chime for it. He didn't know how to be friends with others, only how to be enemies and this whole ordeal was trying for him.
"Chime... Thank you for helping us... I doubt we would be here had you not at least set me on the right path."
Sensoa then looked at Chime before puffing out his chest slightly.
"Now get back inside and warm up. I won't be gone long and Barban will be joining me. Next time you see me, you should see me as an ally and hopefully not as an enemy."
Sensoa was referring to the fact he was a world trade fleet member, but if things played out right he would be able to get the support or at least back up of the saiyan kingdom. Sensoa turned his back then as he waved good bye to chime. He had an idea which he planned to put into action now. He needed to get to a hanger if he was going to get what he needed for this trip. Without another word, Sensoa took to the skies before darting off into the horizon, soon disappearing into the clouds.

Chime looked followed Sensoa's gaze down to his scarred arm, the same one he'd healed the day they met in the forest. It wasn't that long ago, in the grand scheme of things, but it felt like it had been a long time. So much had happened lately, in both their lives. His little smirk became more of a sad smile as he looked Sensoa in the face again. The demon was still set on his plan to leave, and go find the Saiyans, and clearly nothing Chime said was changing that.
"...Alright. Alright, if you've got to go, then I guess that's what you have to do. I didn't mean to sound like I was recruiting you to the defense of Earth or anything, by the way, you're free to do what you want. I just meant you're, uh...welcome to...if you want? Er," Chime's expression went flat as he heard his own words. That didn't come out as smooth as he meant it to, "I mean...um...just make sure you come back, okay? I'd like to see you again someday." His expression twisted. That sounded wrong too, too corny. Sometimes talking was easy, and he could lie through his teeth while looking villains dead in the eye. And sometimes he was like this, and felt awkward as hell.
As Sensoa finally turned to leave, Chime watched him go, then shouted after him as he began to fly away, "Don't die out there, okay? I don't want to see your dad get sad!" He meant Barban, of course, though he knew the wolf wasn't Sensoa's real father, he still thought of him as such, and assumed they thought of eachother the same way, just from how they interacted. Once the demon was out of sight, he turned and retraced his own steps in the snow, back to the house.
Chime quietly pushed open the door, then leaned back against it once inside, and sighed. He looked up to address the room, whoever was inside, "Well, I couldn't convince him. Maybe you'd have better luck, but he's really set on going out and allying with the Saiyans. I'm..." He looked down at the floor, where the snow dripping off him was steadily forming a puddle, "...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to uproot you like this. If I just hadn't said anything..." he bit his lip as he just stared at his feet, guilt pooling in his gut. He knew, logically, this would've come back to bite them sooner or later, but he still felt bad making it 'sooner.'

Barban was standing by the counter when Chime entered the house once more, the butler's eye looking at Chime then the door. He knew already that Sensoa wouldn't return but inside he had held out a little hope. When the Namekian leaned against the door, the Butler returned his gaze to the counter he was wiping down. He continued to wipe even as Chime spoke, guilt in the young man's voice upon what surely felt like he had destroyed their peace. He had done no such thing, as Sensoa, Barban and Hyuki knew this couldn't last. It was just a matter of time until someone came knocking and their worlds were thrown into the fray again. But this time they were choosing this path and not being forced upon it. "My boy, you misunderstand. You did nothing wrong here and its all ok. For the last twenty years we have all known strife in this house, and it is not uncommon around us."Barban picked up a vase then, wiping under it before returning it to the counter before standing up once more to look at Chime. His golden eye locked to the Namekian's even if he did not return his gaze. "Sensoa is making this choice and has no regrets. I believe that to be true. My lord is not one to think of the 'what if' and I think you should not feel guilty for his decision. While we might not be here a while, I believe Sensoa will return to earth one day to call it home. But we cannot stay here, you knew this and so did we."Barban then looked to the kitchen where his wife was currently finishing up cleaning, little magic hands wiping down things and doing the dishes. She worked diligently as always and had a straight face, not betraying the sadness in her heart he was sure she felt. Barban was also saddened to know he was leaving this world but in the end, it was Sensoa's decision. They would respected it as always and follow without question. "Chime, we consider you a friend. That won't change over something like this and you are welcome in our home always. Be it on this planet or the next."Barban chuckled as he thought of Chime crossing the void to visit their house. That would be a sight indeed, if he didn't like ths cold he wondered what Vegeta was like? "Plus I hear vegeta is home to many warriors, plenty of things a demon like Sensoa could do to pass the time. Wouldn't you agree Mr Chime?"Barban said before giving a warm smile to Chime as he held out a hand for the young Namekian to come be with him and Hyuki. They would enjoy their last day here in peace at the very least and enjoy some hot tea.

Chime glanced up at Barban just once as he spoke, but couldn't bear to hold the demon's gaze, and so just stared down at his own feet. He'd been expecting them to be angry with him, or at least annoyed. Maybe some 'how dare you's in there somewhere. But no, Barban was being nothing but kind and understanding about everything, and frankly, Chime didn't know how to deal with that. Why couldn't they just be mean to him, like demons were supposed to be? Getting into a fight would be easier to deal with than them being so nice.
He swallowed a couple of times before he trusted himself to speak, still keeping his eyes down, "I...I'm still sorry. You're too kind to me, with all of this. ...Thank you." He shuffled over to where his winter clothes had been hung up, and took his coat in his hands. He glanced over at the kitchen area again, very briefly. Barban polishing a vase, Hyuki cleaning up with her magic. It was positively domestic and cozy. Chime was struck suddenly with memories of his own home, back on Namek, though his home had been nothing like this. His father wasn't what he'd call a warm man, though he wasn't cruel by any stretch. He was simply serious, and stern, but Chime had always felt welcome within the walls of their home. Just as he was feeling welcome here.
The little Namekian stared at Barban's outstretched hand for a moment, then shook his head, and pulled his coat on, "...I can't. I need to go. But thank you for having me over." He snapped his mouth shut before he could apologize again, and tugged his hat and scarf on as well. Back at the door, he looked back and blurted, before he could stop himself, "I-- I think you guys are really good parents. I thought you should know. Um," Mortified at his own sudden honesty, he muttered a 'goodbye' and quickly opened the door, and ducked out into the frigid evening, to begin the long flight back to the Lookout.
Thread exit! An unexpectedly emotional one, but fun.
