Tarch PL: 100,000. Energy Setting: 20,000
It was reaching the end of a rather long day. A group of middle schoolers was finishing up their activities at a pizza place not far from their school. The students just finished up a group project for their Ki Study homework, even requiring a small spar among the teens and preteens. Naturally being a known top tier fighter, many kids flocked to Tarch to have him on their team. So the half saiyan got roped into a five man band study group where said hybrid did squat. Tarch was uncharacteristically unhelpful in his best subject. He didn’t participate in the mock fight, he barely lifted in a finger in the actual written part, and may be opened a single book in the research.
To top it off, one of the kids discovered a small problem with their work. “Uhh guys,” a sheep zoan spoke up, “we’re missing a piece. A pretty big one too.” The other three looked over while Tarch just listlessly nursed a slice of pizza. “Hey, you’re right. We forgot to write about a time our ki was changed by emotions,” another zoan, this one a kangaroo pointed out. The rest of the group swiftly turned their head to face the only one that had yet to put in any substantial work. Tarch stared back nervously. “...what?”
“You’re the only one who hasn’t done anything yet.” a namekian stated bluntly. “Come on man, this is like the easiest part.” The final member, a regular human continued the point, “Yeah Tarch! A guy as strong as you have GOT to have a story about how you got so mad you were like twice as strong as you are now.”
“Oddly specific,” Tarch grumbled, thinking back to his time on Namek with Mr. Vocado. Maybe that wasn’t such a bad idea, he just had to give a story right? How hard could it be? “Alright, but you have to write it Remi, you have the best handwriting.” The sheep nodded quickly, grabbing her pen and paper. The sheep agreed, though noted how Tarch would have to hurry, it was getting a little late. “Alright,” Tarch began finally sitting up straight, “I’m not gonna tell you guys a story about me getting angry though. It’s not fun and I’m pretty sure my teacher lost all respect for me. So I’m gonna talk about times I did better because I was happy. See on Namek…” Tarch began to regale his classmates with stories of his fights with Ramen, Okra, even Kayen. Each one had something in common. The more he got into those fights, the better he did. Of course, he only mildly touched on how Ms. Kayen almost killed him by accident. “That’s how I got that scar on my chest,” the hybrid laughed.
The others were absolutely entranced, Remi having to be prompted to continue writing every now and then since she was too captivated listening. The Namekian proceeded to ask if Tarch had any other stories since the Sulfur fight was too quick. “Let’s see… OH! Ms. Nashua was a great one! So Nashua is a saiyan from the kingdom. She taught me how to fly then too. So not only was I excited from my fight, but just… the thrill of flying is,” Tarch swooned, remembering his first time flying. He then shuddered when he remembered his first time falling. “My first fall was… embarrassing. Ms. Nashua had to catch me like twice, and I think caught me a third time too but I was ok then. So yeah once I got the hang of it I was just way too hyped up to stop even when I was exhausted… and boy was I tired! So much that Nashua had to catch me again. Of course,” the hybrid’s cheeks burned a little pink, “She did kiss me after we were done. Then I think I lost all my ki.”
The kids began to scoff, all positive the boy just made up that last part for popularity points. “Really? A girl actually kissed you? What was she pretty too?”
Tarch began to grow a little flustered. “I mean… she was, but she was an adult so…”
“HA! So it doesn’t count!”

If there was one thing Earth had going for it, it was all the different types of food it had to offer. Granted, Vegetan cuisine wasn't bad, of course, but it got a little stale eating the same types of food for most of her life. The sheer variety Earth had to it, from different cities' specials to entirely different sorts of cuisine that were found on different ends of the globe, made coming to the planet a treat for the taste buds. The good taste of Earth food occasionally came at the cost of some unwanted bowel movement, though, as Nashua found out when she tried the "Extreme Lava Hot Sauce Ultimate Taco Deluxe Special" at one restaurant, which led to a long night of... 'stomach problems'. "Never again", swore Nashua, who woke up the next morning feeling... Different. What was a much safer bet was pizza, which tasted a lot better, too.
The Saiyan found herself in South City, at a pizza place that had gotten pretty good reviews in one of the local newspapers she'd picked up. Deliciously cheesy, it had been described as. Delicious things and cheesy things both tasted good on their own, so Nashua was curious to see how they good they were when combined. "I'll take a single twelve inch pizza with... Cheese and pepperoni! And sausage!" Nashua ordered at the cashier when it was her turn. "Oh, and an orange hetap to drink! Thank you!" she quickly added, and paid the total. Now she just had to loiter around and wait a bit for the pizza to bake. Twelve inches was pretty small, so it shouldn't take too long, she figured. As she waited, her ears perked up as she could have sworn she heard her name mentioned. But it wasn't the workers calling her to pick up her order.
Rather, golden eyes drifted over and spotted a familiar face, with a bunch of other young faces. It was Tarch! That sure was a convenient coincidence, running into the hybrid all the way back on his home planet. She didn't see the harm in going over to say hello. "Hey, Tarch!" she exclaimed as she stepped over to the table and gave the Saiyan boy a smile. "It's been a while, huh? Good to see you're doing good! How have you been?" She paused and glanced around at all the other young teens sitting at the table around him, and realized she should probably introduce herself. "You guys must be Tarch's school friends, huh? Well, I'm Nashua, I'm another friend of his! Has Tarch spoken of me, before?"

Tarch instantly perked up when he heard a familiar voice behind him. He was so engrossed in his storytelling that he didn’t even pick up the power level of a very familiar presence. One of the good things to come out of Namek. “Ms. Nashua!!” Tarch nearly threw his chair to the ground as he jumped to try and tackle the older teen into a massive bear hug. The other four middle schoolers stared awkwardly for a moment, just watching the reunion. “I’ve been great! I’m glad to be back home.” Though the hybrid sounded honest enough, he knew it wasn’t true. So that he wouldn’t have to bring it up to his friends he’d just send her a little telepathic message. “Actually… Things have been a little rough. I just don’t want that spreading around school.”
After sending his message, Tarch brought Nashua over to the table with his friends. “Yep! These are some of my classmates. Guys! This is Nashua. The woman I was telling you about. You guys think I'm good? You should see her in a fight. She could wipe the floor with me.” As the seventh grader was busy putting the saiyan on a pedestal, other other kids looked at each other with a smile.
The sheep spoke up first. “So did you really teach Tarch how to fly? And could you teach me? I have no idea how to do it either and Tarch is… well, he’s not a great teacher.” The aforementioned hybrid turned a little red with that remark.
Another one of his schoolmates had a question, this time the namekian. “Oh, maybe you can help us with our ki study project! If that’s ok. We just need to write down the effects of emotion on your ki.”
“Screw that!” the human piped up excitedly, “she can help us fix our wrong answers! I say we go back to part two and actually see someone like her fight! Or better yet, maybe she can get Tarch to actually participate!” Tarch now looked away, the four sets of eyes staring friendly daggers at him.
He gave a small uncomfortable laugh. “W-well I think that’s fine. I gave the minimum right? I told you guys I just can’t really go at my best today anyway.” The teen looked up at Nashua, “you don’t have to answer the first or third questions. But I am curious about the second part.” Naturally, the other kids all spoke up in disgruntled protest, the human even jumping to his feet. “Aw come on! Let her decide! We know she doesn’t have to but it would be so cool!” Tarch winced in defeat, looking sheepishly at his flight instructor with an apologetic curiosity. "To be honest it has been a while since I've had a fight, fun or otherwise since I got home."

Tarch was pretty instantaneously peppy when Nashua walked up to the table, exclaiming the Saiyan's name and leaping up to give her a great big hug. "Whoa!" she exclaimed as he nearly caught her off balance, though she only briefly stumbled back before regaining her footing and properly returning the gesture. "That's good to hear, I was hoping you would be," she replied when he expressed his happiness at being back home. When a voice spoke inside her head, though, she was momentarily confused. "The voice in my head sure sounds different all of the sudden..." she thought with a puzzled look on her face for a couple of seconds, until she remembered that Tarch was capable of sending telepathic messages. "Oh. Well, I'm dumb," she thought again, before giving Tarch a quick nod and a look to let him know that she'd heard him.
The young hybrid proceeded to introduce Nashua to his classmates, a little group made up of all sorts of different faces. Earth had quite the diverse population compared to most other planets, didn't it? Nashua was almost immediately barraged with different questions and requests by the little group, which she tried her best to answer, even if Tarch quickly stated she didn't have to. To the sheep zoanthrope, she stated, "Yes, I did teach him - or, more taught him how to control himself in the air, I think. He could already do it, it was just a matter of figuring out how to move the way he wanted to. And, uh, I would sure love to teach you, but I'm actually pretty busy lately, so I'm not sure if I'd have the time!" The last part was a bit of a lie, but it was hard to say whether or not the sheep was even capable of flight, and she didn't want to let him down too badly.
The second question was a bit more of a thinker. "Well, that's a good question..." Nashua mused for a moment or two, then answered, "I don't know too much about it, but I do know that intense feelings of rage or anger can significantly increase the potential of someone's ki. Of course, that's more of a spur of the moment thing - proper control of ki that powerful takes a lot of dedication and a calm and clear mind. But getting angry sure spikes it up in the moment, at least!" Hopefully that answer was good enough for him. Nashua hadn't really studied ki in any way herself. Someone like Ramen probably knew a lot more about it than her - the human had a better control of it than Nashua likely ever would. But for the purposes of this school assignment, that would hopefully be enough for the kids to go off of.
As for fixing wrong answers and letting them see a fight... "Well, uh, I didn't do super well in school myself, so you'd be better of asking someone else for help fixing your answers," she stated with a small, vaguely embarrassed laugh. "But I suppose I can help with the fighting part of it." The Saiyan placed a hand on Tarch's shoulder and shook him slightly as she proudly stated, "Tarch gave me a pretty good run for my money back on Namek when the two of us sparred, so I'm sure we can put on a good show, if he doesn't mind!" From the sound of his telepathic thoughts, he didn't mind at all. "Is there somewhere nearby that we can use? Obviously we won't go crazy enough to damage anything, but it just helps to have a place where nothing might get in the way."

Nashua always came off as a bit of a goof ball, especially when she literally thought her own mental voice changed into Tarch’s somehow. This just caused the telepath himself to giggle. Originally Tarch was afraid that the utter bombardment of questions from his friends would at least put the older teen off, but it seemed she was more than willing to go along with their questions and even offered to show them how to fight.
Unfortunately, Nashua also pointed out how Tarch actually gave the all-powerful saiyan a run for her money. The hybrid winced again, as his classmates all turned to stare at him with happily accusitory looks. “I knew it!” the sheep zoan called. “I knew your power felt off since you came back!” A couple of the other kids didn’t fully understand what she meant though. “Guys, Tarch was able to fight someone with a power five times more than what he was giving us before!”
The human of the group smirked, “Whatcha got to say for yourself, Archie? You’ve been a gloomy Gus all day. You holding out on us?” Another wince, this one looking incredibly pained as he heard his old hated nickname.
Tarch rubbed his eyes in defeat. “Dear Chime above if this spreads in the Saiyan Kingdom I will die of embarrassment.” The teen let out a deep sigh figuring it was too late to really go back on his word now. “Alright alright. I’ll fight for real, I promise. But not back at the gym, if Nashua and I want to actually fight that place would get torn to shreds. We should do it over at the old soccer field. No one uses it in the winter anyway.” Giving their cheers of excitement, the middle schoolers all grabbed hold of their backpacks and papers and quickly bolted out the door. The only issue was that Nashua likely hadn’t eaten anything. “Uhh sorry about them, they get excited easily whenever I actually fight.” Tarch’s face fell as if finally letting go of a forced smile. He looked back up at Nashua with an apologetic look. “You can get something to eat first if you haven’t already. I’ll just let them know and we can just warm up while we wait. The field is just outside the western part of the city. I guess you can just scout out five higher power levels all together too.” If Nashua didn’t stop the younger saiyan, he would go on ahead to meet up with his friends.

Tarch's friends seemed pretty excited when Nashua said she was willing to do some light fighting in front of them. She was a little confused when they mentioned that Tarch was able to fight someone "five times stronger than what he'd been showing them", though she figured that might have just been a lack of effort from the teenager when it came to participating on the group project. He sure didn't seem the most enthusiastic about it as she saw him now. Which was understandable. Even in the Saiyan Kingdom, where the books kind of education wasn't really focused on nearly as much, Nashua remembered how little she enjoyed the late nights of homework and studying, even if she was more of a talker than a fighter. Tarch did agree to the fight, though, and his friends were quick to run off to where Tarch said they should.
"No problem, 'Archie'," Nashua replied with a smirk on the fringe of her lips as she used the nickname Tarch's friends had dubbed him with. She couldn't recall being called any nicknames aside from 'Nash' before, though her name didn't much lend itself to having one. The young hybrid looked a little bummed out about something, though she didn't get the chance to ask him what about before he took off. He'd just left the restaurant when Nashua heard the cashier call out her order. "Ooh, thanks!" she said, grabbing the soda and looking down at the pizza, with the melted cheese looking and smelling delicious underneath the pepperoni and sausage coverings. Although, she couldn't sit down and relax to eat it now. "Um, sorry, but do you think you could wrap that to go?" She got a stink eye from the cashier, but her pizza was quickly boxed up and Nashua was out the door.
It took maybe five minutes or so until Nashua showed up at the soccer field where Tarch and friends were waiting, the Saiyan touching down from the sky gently, and the pizza box in her hands open with only half a pizza remaining inside. There was a fair amount of red sauce on the corners of Nashua's lips, though she wiped the stains away as she walked up to the group. "Hey, guys!" she exclaimed, offering forward the box in case anyone wanted a slice, though she took one more for herself first. "So, what did you want to see, exactly? Just me and Tarch sparring with each other, no strings attached?" she asked before taking a big bite out of the meat covered slice, catching the melted cheese that dripped off the side with her hand and stuffing it into her mouth.

Five or Ten minutes went by, the five students chatting about what exactly they planned to do once Nashua arrived. Poor Tarch was still blushing angrily over being called Archie by Nashua of all people. Maybe he could call her something like Nashie? Nah, it didn’t sound goofy enough for her. Really it sounded more like something someone would name their cat. Speaking of said Nash, she quickly touched down, complete with pizza to feed the mass. The other three graciously hopped over, thanking the saiyan for the offer before nabbing a slice. Tarch and the Namekian student both hung back, one choosing to wait until after the fight, the other simply not needing to eat period. Then came the question the kids were already discussing.
“About that,” the Kangaroo Zoan began, “We were thinking since a few of us need to go home soon, and because Tarch hasn’t really done a lot of the work, a spar between you two would be best. That way we can get what we need from him, and not have to cut a fight short by leaving. Plus we’re still a little worn out from before. But if you’re ever in the area again we’d like to go up against you sometime.”
The Namekian stood up from one of the chilly plastic benches. “For now though, we want to see you and Tarch fight. Two Saiyans, or I guess one and a half, going at it. Maybe you can actually get him to go all out!”
Tarch quickly jumped to his own defense, “hey! I said I would fight for real, and when a saiyan says that they mean it. I mean I’m only half… but still! I’m going to do this for real!” With that, the hybrid would allow those enjoying the pizza to finish before taking up his usual fighting stance. It was certainly better than it was on Namek, fewer holes, more flexible, still stiff though. Then he took a deep breath, before letting out a small bellow. His icy blue aura wisped around him as his power began to rise.
The human on the group whistled, “check that out! Archie was holding out on us after all!”
The sheep still looked concerned. “Yeah, but that woman is still more than twice his current power level and she said he gave him a run for her money. So either she was a lot weaker then. Or He’s still holding back.” The four spectators stared at the two saiyans wide eyed, wondering just how strong their favorite saiyan classmate really was. After a brief pause, the sheep spoke again, “we should probably move back.”
With his power as high as he could force it, Tarch looked at Nashua with a sad smile. Last time they fought was in that place. He hated thinking about all the bad things, which made it nearly impossible to think about the good things. Hopefully, this would just be a nice easy good part of being home, a way to forget what happened. “I’m ready when you are Nashua.”

Three of Tarch's friends excitedly hopped over to grab themselves a slice, which left just two remaining in the box. Nashua wanted to eat them both up right there, though it was probably a bad idea to gorge on too much food right before a big fight. She'd already eaten more than half of the entire pizza herself. Granted, it was just a twelve inch pizza, but still. She listened quietly to what the students wanted as she finished the slice she had already started, stuffing the last bit of the crust into her mouth just as they finished explaining. It took a couple seconds for her to chew and swallow, but once she did, she replied, "That sounds simple enough. And fun!" Nashua glanced over at Tarch and gave him a thumbs up. "I'm looking forward to seeing how much you've improved since last time!"
Another moment later, and the Saiyans got into their fighting stances. Tarch's looked more improved over the one he'd defaulted to the last time Nashua had seen him, which was a step in the right direction. It was still a bit wonky, granted, but an overall improvement. She waited patiently for Tarch to power himself back up, and tapped her scouter once he seemed he'd finished, curious to see how much he'd grown. "Let's see..." she mumbled as the number was quickly calculated and then displayed on the glass in front of her eye. Once she read the number, her eyebrows furrowed, and her pupils drifted back over towards Tarch with some skepticism in them. "You uh... Okay there, Tarch?" she asked, not wanting to be as blunt as to ask him why he was suddenly so much weaker than he'd been on Namek.
She would've understood if his power level had just stayed around the same area it'd been before, but dropping to half of its old potential? That was quite unusual. Maybe he was just in need of a warm up to get back to where he'd been? He seemed ready for her, so... "Uh, alright, let's start off with a low burn to get warmed up, then," she said, taking her spear out and carefully setting it aside. It didn't exactly feel right trying to stab a kid with less than half her power level: she'd just use her fists and feet. Taking a deep breath, Nashua focused her ki throughout her body. Maybe getting zapped would jolt back Tarch's old power. "Alright, here it comes!" she exclaimed, reaching back to grab her ponytail before whipping it forward to send a vertical wave of bright pink ki at Tarch. It was definitely her weakest attack, but she worried it would still be too much for Tarch to handle.
"Dodge that one!" she called out, unable to keep herself from giving out advice to the young one. She wouldn't make any follow up approach to it, and instead waited to see how he handled the attack.

Tarch felt his first clench up. Of course, Nashua would notice his drop in power. She may have been a bit out of things at times, but she was still plenty smart. There was no way she wouldn’t notice Tarch’s insane drop in power. The younger teen just stared forward, his mouth curled into a gloomy frown. “I’m ok. Really. Just rusty. Come on, let’s just do this.” He felt a pang of guilt wash over him. Tarch hated lying, and he just lied to someone he looked up to like a big sister. The thing was, he had no idea why his power went down by so much either. Being rusty should have left him just a little lower, not down to barely noticeable. He knew something was wrong, just not what it was. Luckily he didn’t have to go any further into his slump. Nashua was ready to start this thing and to be honest, so was Tarch.
The older teen started off strong. She fired her pink beam from her ponytail, a move Tarch had seen before. Maybe a bit of playful banter would assure her that he was just fine. “Aw Nashua I’m hurt,” he then made a small, almost unseeable motion, the beam seemingly phasing right through him. “Do you forget who you’re fighting?” Tarch dashed over to his opponent, using his speed to try and get behind her. The half saiyan intended to leave behind a static afterimage of himself, leaving it to get hit by the beam instead of himself. While the phantom Tarch did appear, it has dissipated long before he began his run towards Nashua. “You’re up against the Speed Ki--” Tarch stopped mid sentence, nearly tripping over his own feet. He had forgotten that it was his time in Namek that led him to give himself that title. Luckily he was able to snap out of the brief haze, trying to regain his composure by zipping behind Nashua to land a solid kick to her back. While the kids in the stands could barely follow their fellow student, Tarch could feel just how pathetically sluggish that move was.

Okay, good - Nashua breathed a sigh of relief when Tarch was able to afterimage out of the way of her attack. Looked like he wasn't quite as rusty as she was fearing, so that meant it was probably safe for her to start ramping things up a bit. Though Tarch was moving quite fast, he wasn't exactly moving at speeds that were hard for Nashua to followed. Nothing compared to how much he'd been speeding from place to place back on Namek, for sure. The young hybrid nearly tripped over his own feet before catching himself and throwing a sluggish quick at Nashua which was easily ducked under with minimal effort on her part. "Uh, close one!" she exclaimed to make Tarch feel a bit better about his chances.
As for her response, she jumped forward while throwing out a kick backwards that would hopefully have connected with Tarch's chin, though she wasn't sure if he'd managed to move himself out of the way or not. Regardless, she turned around to face him, and began charging ki into her palms. "This one's gonna be a bit more intense than the last one," she warned, as her hands began to glow and a bright pink orb of energy formed between them. The only way to get someone to improve was to push them, right? That was how Nashua had gotten as strong as she currently was - she'd spent a lot of time getting her ass kicked and being pushed to her upper limit. So, doing the same to Tarch was the best way she could think of to help him out, too.
Her teeth grit, the Saiyan stretched her palms out and blasted a mighty pink beam towards the hybrid, doubly as powerful as the one she'd sent at him before. Could he still summon the strength to defend himself from it, or the speed to avoid it?

No one was surprised when Tarch’s kick was unsuccessful, least of all himself. Yet Nashua thought it necessary to exclaim how close it was. It was not close at all. Tarch had gotten close hits before, and her reactions were far more convincing.
“Damn it,” Tarch swore quietly under his breath. He didn’t want Nashua to pity him, he just wanted a clean fight. Nothing to make him think of Namek and the horrors he faced. Yet his opponent seemed to think it necessary to patronize him. Luckily she was only verbally babying him, the kick to his chin at least felt earnest enough as it sent him reeling back. Tarch could hear his fellow middle schoolers wince, giving out small ‘oohs’ as they watched their friend get knocked back.
The hybrid was able to regain his footing relatively quick, though Nashua was still rearing to go at full force. She called out to the younger teen, warning him that her next attack would be a lot harder to handle. Tarch knew he wasn’t ready, he had hardly even warmed up. “Hang on Nash wait!” It was too late though, she was not holding anything back This time she readied her second attack, the Faithful Laser Beam. Tarch remembered all too well the time he was slammed to the ground by the pink beam. He had to avoid it, he was way too weak to counter it, especially in this state. Tarch let his lids drift shut, letting his inner senses wash over him. He could see it clear as a summer day, the faithful beam charging directly towards him. He saw himself jumping to the right but was too slow to avoid it. So he tried the left, meeting the same painful fate. Flying up, the same thing. Countering, still no luck.
Tarch’s eye snapped open, his mouth agape in shock. No matter how he looked at it, there was no escaping the attack. It was going to floor him. Just like it did then. No, then it only stung like hell. Now he was barely even half of what he was on Namek.
“No… Damn it NO!” The beam struck true, it’s target slamming his ki infused fist into it. “I don’t want to!” He hated to think back on the war and death he discovered on the green planet. But was Namek only bad? Did he not learn the utter joy of flight with Nashua’s help.
The icy blue flame in Tarch’s hand grew almost five times as bright. The young hybrid let out a roar as he blasted the beam with his own attack, the two dispersing in a showering of pink of blue sparks wafting through the air like cotton candy. When the smoke cleared, Tarch was starring daggers at Nashua.
“I don’t want to remember Namek. But now I’m not even half the fighter I was!” He wasn’t shouting to anyone, in particular, just angrily yelling to whoever would listen. “So let’s try that again.” This time it was in the blink of an eye. The kids in the stands were actually stunned, by their friend’s blinding speed as he charged directly for Nashua to strike her jaw.

Tarch had to figure out something to power himself back up, otherwise this was going to really sting. That much was certain as the laser beam blasted out from Nashua's palms and hurtled in the hybrid's direction. She couldn't see him over the bright pink beam, but she could feel it when the blast smacked into him, and assumed it'd blast on through and knock him back on his rear end after a moment or two of him trying to contest it. But that was alright, failure was a valuable part of the learning process. Still, after a moment or two, a huge explosion of pink and blue ki energy flared up across the battlefield, kicking up smoke, dirt and grass all around. Nashua couldn't see Tarch through it, and was a little worried she might have just blasted him away. But, then she checked out her scouter.
"One hundred thousand...? That's more like it!" she exclaimed as she saw the number appear on her scouter, and a figure stood tall once the dust began to settle. Tarch stood proud and tall, a new set of fiery determination in his eyes as he started shouting something about about Namek. It was a little hard to hear him over the ringing in Nashua's ears from how loud the previous explosion was, but she assumed it was some kind of positive self encouragement. "That's the spirit, Tarch! I knew all it'd take to get you back to full strength was a little pus-" Nashua was interrupted when a fist slammed into the side of her cheek and jolted her head 45 degrees to the right, her neck twisting with pain as she stumbled back. "...Push." Well, that had hurt.
Nashua's hand rose to rub her bruised cheek, and she spat out a small bit of blood that had come from her tongue when her teeth accidentally clamped down on it, but she was ready for a real battle with Tarch, now. "That was a little easier than I thought it'd be, I'll admit," she said as she got back up into a proper stance. "Thought it'd take a bit more of a shove than that, but I'm glad to see you back at it! So, no more holding back on my part!" As soon as she'd finished speaking, she rushed straight for Tarch, bringing up her feet to deliver several quick kicks at Tarch's upper torso, keep her main body leaned back and her arms held up in preparation to defend against any counter strikes in case Tarch managed to get around her with his impressive speed.

Tarch narrowed his eyes at the older saiyan. She was happy for him? He couldn’t understand why she was happy to see him so distraught. The hybrid looked down at his fist, his knuckles tinted a pale red from the blast and the following punch. Nashua wanted to enjoy this? Fine, Tarch wasn’t going to hold anything back, he just need one more good push. Fittingly enough, neither was Nashua. She recovered from the punch as fast as anyone would expect of a fighter of her caliber.
Tarch quickly braced himself, raising his arms up to guard against her swift kicks. At his new speed, he found it easy to meet her strikes, only a couple making it through. Still, as few as there were, each kick that found it’s target would jab right on his chest, another painful reminder of what Namek was to him. “No no no!” he shouted in a furious panic. Tarch would attempt to knock Nashua’s feet away and circle around behind her. However, it seemed she was already prepared for that, her own arms raised to stop him. So instead Tarch backed off, his teeth grit into a pained scowl.
“Damn it! Why the hell are you so happy?” The question wasn’t just for Nashua. Even if it wasn’t what he wanted, there was something freeing about letting all of his power run wild. He was too young to understand, but this was cathartic for him. He never even heard the word catharsis before. Yet here he was letting his anger crash into him like a tsunami and enjoying it. He hated that he enjoyed it, and he was sure Nashua enjoyed it too. Tarch shut his eyes as if hoping he could wake up from this terribly conflicting feeling, “why am I happy about this?! I hate it!” he shouted, pleading for an answer.
His friends in the stands were left speechless. They'd seen Tarch happy and at his best. They'd seen him sad and pretty low. Never had the four teens sitting on the cold plastic benches seen the half saiyan like this, angry and scared. The sheep zoan just stared wide-eyed, being the only one who could fully sense his power. "We should move," she would warn the others. She could sense his power still rising, worried that it could result in a literal explosion. The four middle schoolers retreated to the higher benches, away from any potential rogue ki blasts.

Nashua's kicks were mostly just blocked by Tarch, which she was expecting from someone at his caliber of speed, though a few of them managed to break through his defenses and nail him in his chest, which obviously brought some satisfaction to Nashua. Her preparations paid off as well, with Tarch simply backing off and deciding not to even attempt to break through when he darted around her and saw her arms raised to defend. The Saiyan was confused when Tarch yelled at her about her usual jovial mood, though. "Huh?" she asked, lowering her arms slightly and raising her eyebrows. "I'm just, uh, enjoying sparring with you, you know? We had fun back on Namek, so I thought..." She stopped speaking when he shouted again, seemingly frustrated with... His own enjoyment? Nashua didn't really have an answer prepped in response to that one.
Her scouter over her eye began to blink, and indicated Tarch's current level of power was unstable, fluctuating. Did he still have more power yet to unleash, or was he having trouble maintaining his current strength? The brunette couldn't be sure which was happening, though it was pretty clear Tarch was suddenly having a very hard time about something. "We can call this off, if you're struggling," Nashua stated, her arms dropping down to her sides as her expression changed to one of concern. She didn't want Tarch to end up hurting himself, or anything like that. His peers seemed concerned, too, retreating further back up the bleachers next to the already torn up soccer field. If things escalated further, they might end up hurting someone who couldn't defend themselves, or cause some serious damage to the surrounding area.
From what she'd seen on Namek, Tarch learned and benefited much better from a soft, guiding hand than by a forceful one that shoved him forward, so maybe that was her mistake. Although, everyone needed a push sometimes. And she was confident she could handle things before they escalated out of control. "Remember, Tarch, we're just sparring for fun, not to seriously hurt each other or cause damage. I'm not here to hurt you, just to push you to do as well as you can, okay?" Maybe that'd calm him down a bit. He just seemed incredibly stressed out and flustered about something, though she hadn't any idea what could have caused him so much immediate distress. "Can you tell me what's causing you torment right now?" That was probably the most direct way to find out.

The hybrid let out a small sniffle, his power still uneasy, his aura wisping around with no beginning or end. It seemed Nshua was able to tell he was frustrated after all if that was even close to describing how he felt at that moment. “I’m sorry Nashua,” he muttered, his tone shaking. He then looked over to his fellow students. “H-hey. I’m sorry guys but I need a minute with just us.”
His friends asked if he was sure about this and if there was anything they could do to help. Tarch just shook his head. “Don't worry guys, it’s just something I need to work out.” The kids nodded and went their separate ways back to their respective homes, leaving Tarch and Nashua alone.
“I’m really sorry Nashua,” he repeated, tears finally falling. “I was afraid to say anything, I’m not sure why but I thought if I told anyone they’d think less of me. I’m not mad at you I promise. It’s just. Out of all the good things that happened on Namek, it feels like they’re twice as many bad things. I saw Mr. Cress kill people. I saw Mr. Vocado change. When I heard he murdered someone I… I couldn’t control myself. I thought I could blame Ms. Kayen, I thought if I could beat her he’d be back to normal. All I got was a nasty scar on my chest.” Tarch clutched at his shirt, just over the neat diagonal line on his skin. “But then I also had good times, I made friends with the Namekian children, and you taught me how to fly. I learned that Ms. Kayen is actually a good person under all that rough attitude.”
The young hybrid fell to his knees, rubbing his eyes with his sleeve. “Ever since I got home though… it’s like I can’t use all my power. The only time I do is when I lose control, and then when I try my self I feel like I'm about to lose it anyway.” Tarch wasn’t wailing or bawling, but he was clearly crying, soft almost silents sobs escaping him. “I love fighting for fun. I love fun spars, but now I just think about what happened back there. I never knew what war really was. It just kind of hit me when I came home how different it was.”
A moment would pass where Tarch would just let out his tears, giving Nashua a chance to speak if she chose. “I do want to fight you. I really do. And I want to be able to go all out. I’m just scared. So please,” Tarch stood up, his tears finally slowing down. “Please let me fight you all out. And promise you won’t hate me no matter how angry or rough I get?” He made up his mind. If Nashua would let him, he would fight without fear or worry. “I know you’re strong Ms. Nashua. That’s why I trust you to let me do this. I promise I’ll stop as soon as you say so, just please let me get this off.”
