BACKGROUND
Branch was once an okay-ish guy.
He used to live on Namek in a small village. They lived in relatively peaceful times until a rogue group of space pirates decided to stop by. They came in search of "Dragon's Orbs", but only found opposition and a smart mouthed kid. Of course, said kid was Branch. He was a rowdy youngster, mostly because of his fighting spirit. He was apart of the Warrior Caste, and as such, was trained from an early age. But, he was no match for the pirates. As his family and village lay in ruin, he was the last one standing. The leader of the gang seemed to take an interest in Branch, as he reminded him of his younger self. (Except less green)
He took pity on the poor lad and decided to give him a choice.
"Help us find these Orbs, or I'll kill you where you stand."
His ultimatum was met with an obvious answer. "GO TO HELL"
With a laugh, the Boss congratulated him, as he had passed some arbitrary test. The Boss thought it would be a good idea to raise Branch as his own. The Boss was getting rusty, and he started to regret his decision to not settle down. This was Branch's lucky break.
As time went on, Branch would study underneath the gang of space pirates. He would pick up and develop necessary skills for his upcoming jobs, like flying a spaceship, picking (blowing-up) locks, a tiny bit of battle tactics, and how to lead a rag-tag bunch of scallywags. As time passed, Branch just sort of pushed his deep anger and hatred down below, as he would bide his time, waiting for his chance to escape his hell hole.
He got that chance the moment The Boss keeled over. One of his erm "mistresses" probably didn't approve of something and brought it to his attention...with a laser rifle.
Branch took this opportunity to claim his "birthright" as The Boss. Of course, he was met with opposition from his fellow pirates, but this would be a piece of cake. After all, he had been studying them for almost 20 years and knew just about everything about the crew and their business. After a short "work-out", Branch had cleared his new crew of any weeds and effectively declared himself The Boss.
Uuuuuuntil everyone jumped ship via spacepod and left the main ship to self destruct. (Is it because he forced them to eat bananas everyday?)
Luckily, Branch knew a coup would eventually happen and planned a few countermeasures. He had hid his own escape pod and used it to flee the ship, in the opposite direction of the crew. He had no idea where to go, but he loved the fact that he was finally free. This freedom led him to become a mercenary. Mercenary work wasn't hard at all, and mostly involved breaking or cauterizing necks. Although sometimes the pay wasn't as good as his old job, he didn't care. He could do what he pleased as long as he stayed within his buyer's boundaries. (And if they didn't like it, too bad for those suckers.)
To this day, Branch still carries around a hit list of all those crew members that betrayed him that day, and he plans to eradicate them one by one. (Soon TM)
