The suit was proving it's usefulness more and more as the days' passed. A typical treck through Yunzabit Heights would have been dangerous. The blistering cold and wailing winter winds a threat to his fingers and toes. With the armor adorning his body such a thing was no longer a concern for him. He could still feel the cold underneath the protection of his suit sure. But the level of warmth it offered made what would have been a pain far more manageable.
He was headed towards North City. His investigation into the origin of the suit his master had given him. Had directed him towards the city. There was supposedly a scientist within the location that had dealings with his later master several years ago. It was a small lead sure, but it was the best that he had.
As he stomped through the snow with a quickness Justus realized flying might have been faster. Although an old saying his master had taught him rang through his ears. "It's the journey, not the destination." so he wouldn't be flying. At least not for the moment anyway. With that in mind, he glanced up towards the sky. It was hard to see with all the snow fogging his vision, but it seemed like night was slowly approaching. He'd have to find a place to bunker down soon. He was all for testing the limits of the suit but he doubted it handle being out all night in a blizzard.
The universe seemed to pick up on Justus's need for shelter. Off in the distance, Justus began to see a faint orange glow. "Fire." someone else was attempting to brave the Heights. How friendly were they going to be was the question? Justus picked up his pace. Moving quicker through the knee-deep snow as he inched closer towards the glow. As he approached he could make out the shadow of another. Said shadow spread against the wall of a small alcove big enough for at least a small group.
He entered into the alcove cautiously but relaxed. A single arm held upward in a friendly wave. "Greetings fellow traveler. Mind if I share your fire for the night?" his tone was friendly but his face underneath the mask remained neutral. He waited to see how the stranger was going to respond. Ready for a surprise attack but as ready to sit down and relax next to the fire's warmth.

Yunzabit Heights. A quiet peaceful place for a young budding warrior to really come into his own. It was open, only dotted with small specks of trees, little rock structures to defend from the snow, and very very snowy. Boy did Tarch hate it. The summer swimmer hated the cold, and Yunzabit Heights was frigid on a summers day, meaning it was freezing tonight. So what brings a thirteen year old half saiyan here of all places? His idiot teacher’s idiot instructions. “Go somewhere cold they said, it will help you focus on your Oozaru they said! I swear I’m gonna deck him if I see him again!” Tarch had just finished another unsuccessful day of training his giant monkey form, trying desperately to gain some semblance of control over it. Now while his mother insisted, or commanded, that the two camp out there, she did not say that hypothermia was a requirement. So the two found themselves a nice little spot to set up camp, lighting up a much welcome fire, the heat getting trapped under a rock roof making the area feel much warmer.
Unfortunately, the warmth was not enough to stop the child’s grumbling. “And then mom comes home all grumpy and forces me to do this… at least she’s here too.” Tarch’s self venting was cut short when he felt a new energy source enter the area. It didn’t feel malicious, but whether or not the person attached to it was remained to be seen. He could hear the fallen twigs snapping, small pebbled grinding against the ground. Was this trouble?
The energy source made itself known, calling out to see if they could share the shelter for the night. They sounded friendly enough, he just had to hope his mother wouldn’t raise a fuss. “Uh sure!” the hybrid called to the stranger, standing up to get a better look, his tail waving curiously. They seemed to be wearing a strange set of armor, covered in red jewels. “You might want to ask my mom when she comes back though, it’s technically her fire. Until then you can come over and warm yourself up.” Even if this guy was just looking to start something, there was no way he could take on both Tarch and Kohlra.
if it's ok with you, I got Tarch's mom Kohlra to own said fire so imma tag her if that's ok Kohlra

It’s been a day or… eh, she didn’t exactly keep track. Kohlra’s been on Earth for a good bit now after her little bout on Vegeta with Vocado, and she pretty much… changed a little bit. She was a lot more grumpier than usual, though there were moments where she would just freeze, staring off for a brief second as if getting deep into thought. Whatever had happened on Vegeta must’ve really irked her a little bit, but obviously she wouldn’t bother mentioning what happened. The memories for her were extremely painful, though it wasn’t the fight itself that bothered her, but instead it was Vocado’s words.
”There are more productive ways to make up for poor parenting."
"Have you considered putting him up for adoption..?”
“Or maybe you should just get out of his life entirely.”
“You can continue to be a useless mother in a bar somewhere on Earth.”
Kohlra blinked whenever she came back to her senses, looking down and seeing… a log in her arms. She blinked a couple of times and stared it, though soon enough she would realize that she was out camping with her son, Tarch, and decided to fetch some firewood… or a firelog technically. She vaguely remembered punching a tree down, but soon enough some memories would be rushing back to her. With a sigh, she shook her head. Why the hell did these words effect her so much? Why would she let Vocado of all things mess with her? She managed to give him the run for his money when she raged, but that wasn’t really enough it seemed. Kohlra shrugged, believing that this memory will just fade away after a couple of weeks.
The woman would go ahead and take flight, holding the log in her arms as she began to search for the fire she started. After a moment of scanning the area, she would spot a faint orange glow. “There ya are. You better be there, Tarch. I don’t feel like searchin’ for your ass.” She would say under her breath before beginning to fly herself over to the glow, getting closer and closer until she was just above it. She grunted quietly as she went and placed the log over her shoulder, but whenever she did that she would notice two figures just near the fire. One was definitely her son, while the other was…
“HEY, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?”
With one swift motion, she would chuck the log straight for Justus, but it would instead right in front of the stranger instead of landing directly on him. She did this just to spook the stranger, not at all harm him. The log itself would stand upright whenever it was plunged into the dirt, looking as if it was planted back into the Earth. Kohlra would be seen floating down from the sky, her arms crossing whenever she landed. The first thing she would do was look towards Tarch, asking him, “You know this punk, Tarch?”

The stranger, now revealed to be a child, seemed friendly enough. His agreement to share the warmth was very much welcome, "Thanks very much young man." he smiled underneath his helmet. He made it just a few inches closer to the fire before he suddenly stopped in his track. "You're mother? Good to know you're not out here alone. I was actually about to ask." not that he had much room to worry. He had braved the elements himself when he was around that age as well. "What are the two of you doing out here?" an innocent question to pass the time as he waited for the boy's mother to return. Justus would not have to wait very long for that to happen.
The sound of her anger filled voice cut through the rather peaceful air like a knife. He froze in place as he turned his head towards the entrance of the alcove. Just in time to watch a wooden log being tossed his way. His instincts told him to move but he hadn't reacted fast enough. Thankfully the log wasn't poised to him directly. Rather it collided with the ground in front of him. Jamming upright into the snowy ground beneath him. His eyes darted from the log to the boy, and then back towards the mother.
"I'm uh...Justus." he spoke unsteadily. thankful that he'd remember to use his alias. He couldn't quite pin down why the woman had gotten so angry with him. It wasn't like he'd done anything aggressive. He'd only just arrived at the local after all. Part of Justus was starting to suspect that he had a knack for attracting trouble. He made sure to keep his body posture relaxed as he tossed both his hands up. A sign that he meant the woman and her child no harm. "I actually just met your son mum. I was traveling and I noticed your fire." he motioned a towards the lightly flickering flame. I was hoping you'd be kind enough to share it for the night." there was a pause.
He was attempting to judge how the mother had responded to him so far. It was difficult to read anything other than the anger. "It's getting a little intense out there. But I'll gladly move along should my presence be an issue." he waited for a response. Hoping that perhaps the kid would be able to save his hide here. He really wasn't looking for any kind of trouble.

The moment Bozo had taken his eyes off of Chromo, the bug bolted for the hills. That was several hours ago... Or maybe days? Chromo wasn't keeping track. He'd left his negligent family awhile ago, and went to the World Trade Fleet in search of a new band of buddies, desperate as he was. But the cold shoulder was turned his way yet again, and quite literally that time. The bug hacked and sneezed, but an icicle frozen in his nose refused to come out. Remaining traces of bruising and frostbite from a hungry Majin's barrage still dotted his shell, and his wings only recently began to work again.
That didn't change the fact that he was freezing. And he was hungry.
Chromo's teeth gripped his last bottle of Hetap. He'd hidden it in a small log, among other berries, twigs, and rocks, all covered in scorches and bite marks. There wasn't much to eat out here, and the little insect was horribly lost. Which way was the nearest town, even?! He'd searched and searched, but could never find another person. As usual.
In spite of his growling stomach, the Bio-Android admitted defeat to the cold. His abdomen glowed with a pale red light while Chromo tried to warm himself up with his own ki, but his once bright, yellow skin still retained the same blue tint it had back when he'd taken that blow from Mumbo. Furling his wings over his body and nestling himself into the log, Chromo closed his eyes and rested his head atop the can of Hetap. He'd make some progress and decide what to do with himself tomorrow...
No less than a few minutes after he'd dozed off, a certain Saiyan mother mistakenly stumbled upon his home- Not that she knew that. The bio-android inside remained undisturbed, curled up like a roly poly in his slumber. The ride was rather soothing, actually, and Chromo found himself quietly chittering in his sleep.
That was, until a shout snapped him awake and his abode was chucked into the ground. Chromo barely could let out a screech before he faceplanted into the snow, still in the hollow log. It took him several moments to regain his bearings- just enough time for Justus outside to finish his introduction to the group. Not a moment after that, said log began to shake as shrill, albeit muffled, screeches rang from within. Chromo thrashed and kicked around aimlessly for a few moments, but he eventually got a grip on his wooden prison as the log flopped onto it's side, rocketing out with a much clearer shout now.
"AAAAAAAAAAAA-" The half-frozen bug screamed out in a mixture of rage and shock for a few moments before loosing momentum and smacking himself back into the snow headfirst. Behind him, all of Chromo's "loot" had spilled out of the log, along with his frozen can of Hetap. Not that he could pay any mind just yet, flailing about aimlessly while trying to pry his head out of the snow. It was times like this he wished Tarch hadn't left, too. He always knew what to do...

The armored stranger seemed friendly enough, which was a relief all the way out here. Tarch only had to worry that his mother’s foul mood would carry over to other people. For now, though he was given the very reasonable question of what brought the teenager out into the middle of nowhere to begin with. Tarch sat back down in front of the fire, bringing his legs close to his chest. “Well, my mother and I came out here to do some special training. I’ve been having trouble getting something that she did with no problem.” As he explained his situation, Tarch eyed up the strange man, looking his black and red suit up and down. “If you don’t me asking, what’s with the suit, it looks REALLY cool!”
Before he would get a chance to receive an answer though, Tarch could feel his mother coming close, her anger at a full boil. “Hold that thought.” The teen prepared to have to intervene in case Kohlra decided to go on the offensive. Luckily she only gave a warning shot, slamming a surprisingly large log to the ground. “It’s ok ma! He’s just trying to stay warm out here!” Tarch called up, hoping to call off the easily angered woman. Unfortunately, she already left her mark, the stranger, apparently named Justus, worried he should leave. Tarch held up a hand to stop him, “no wait! It’s ok really, my mom just gets angry easily. I’m sure she’ll let you stay if you…” something fell out of the log. The half saiyan was hurriedly assuring Justus that he should be fine when something caught his eye. A little bug.
A small tear welled at the side of his eye. “Ch-Chromo?” it was a barely audible whisper. He could feel his heart skip a beat, as before his eyes the one person he wanted to see most of all practically fell into his lap. “CHROOOOMOOOOOOO!!!” Tarch’s movements were nigh unfollowable as his aura flared up. The hybrid went to tackle his best friend to the ground, aiming to pull him into a rib breakingly tight hug. “AHHH CHROMO! I MISSED YOUUUU!” Tarch’s cyan eyes were practically beaming, tears slowly leaking out. He was beyond coherent words, now just trying to wrestle his friend into an overjoyed embrace, squealing with delight. He only had one thing to say, soft and quiet. “I’m sorry.”
Regardless of his success in hugging the bug, Tarch would look back at Justus, still beaming. “Ok, now you have to stay! You get to meet the best bug in the world! Mom! Please let the armor guy stay!” It wasn’t until the raging teen came down from his high did he realize that his best bug buddy looked the worst for wear. Chromo was scuffed and had small discolored bits even some trailing icicles. “Oh Kami what happened to you buddy? Here sit by the fire.” Tarch quickly shuffled over to a bug leaning by a nearby bush and pulled out a small can. “Here, a nice cold Hetap.” He let out a chuckle “Just one hundred and ninety nine more to go.”
Tarch gave Justus a sheepish grin, realizing the poor man was just an onlooker to the few minutes of chaos. “Sorry about that. How about I just introduce myself. I’m Tarch. Up there is my mom Kohlra. And this little guy is my best friend Chromo.” As he spoke he offered to wrap a blanket around the Bio-Android.

The woman would just glare at the Earthling, IF he was an Earthling to begin with. She wasn’t entirely sure considering his entire body was covered in some sort of weird-looking armor. It honestly looks like its from some sort of show that sometimes pops up on TV, where there were giant robots and all that. Mech Wars, was it? Eh, whatever it was didn’t exactly matter, for what mattered was whether or not her son was actually safe. She was pissed, yes, but that is what really fueled her whenever she needed to fight, plus with her moods and all being jumbled up due to her little visit over to Vegeta, she’s a bit extra pissy than she usually is. Though luckily she would begin to calm down once the stranger spoke their name, rolling her eyes. “Okay, ‘Justus’, mind getting your ass outta here then? I think the convention is like, up North from here or something.” She said, poking fun at his costume.
The woman would hold up a hand whenever Tarch decided to speak up, believing that the stranger should speak for himself. Kohlra remained silent as he went and explained himself, letting out an annoyed sigh. She would go ahead and shake her head whenever he said he’ll go and leave, raising the hand she had up towards him. “No, you can stay here a bit I guess. Just know me and my son WILL be training after this break, and I’m not sure if you’d like accidentally getting squished during that.” She said as her tail would come in view, sort of signaling what kind of training would be involved. Though once she went and did that however, she would what sounded like… a scream inside the trunk? Her eyes grew wide once she heard what sounded to be a struggle within the log, and soon enough the log itself would flip onto its side!
The saiyan immediately held up her fists, prepared for any sort of fight once she heard a more clearer shout booming from the log. She was just about ready to fight whatever was in there, which would be prevented as her son went and dashed towards the log! “Hey, what are you doing?! Get away fro-…” Kohlra would narrow her eyes once she saw Tarch hug something pretty familiar-looking, albeit extremely small she could make out the features easily. It was that little bug bastard who ate all her food a while back! She was just about ready to tell Tarch to let go of them, but decided not to. While she was pretty pissed at the bug for eating all her food, she decided to let Tarch have his fun for now. That’s what a good mother does, right? Let their sons have what they want?
“Fine, okay. You, superhero guy or whatever, can stay if you want.” Kohlra would just go ahead and say, approaching the log and slamming her fist into it, grabbing a handful of… berries? She would pull her fist out and wipe the berry juice onto her shirt, making a sort of grossed out expression. “Well, I guess you’ve been living here then, little guy?” She would go ahead and say aloud, her tone softening a bit. Eh, she would decide to not bother with ripping the log in half, instead she would just go to the ever end of it and pull out a decently-sized piece of wood before chucking it to the fire.
“Hey, you.” Kohlra would look towards Justus, “Mind getting some sticks? Just get like a handful or whatever; gotta keep this fire up for sure now.”

An overwhelming amount of things began to happen one after another. Justus barely had enough time to process it all. One minute he was being chastised by the boy's mother. Her obvious displeasure with his presence mixed with her son's fascination over his outfit. Left the young hero thinking that perhaps it would be in his best interest to just walk away. Surely he'd be able to find a nice place to camp for himself right? It's not like starting a fire of his own would be too hard either. Justus was going to speak for himself again but remained silent. Allowing the boy, who he now knew was named Tarch, to speak for him. As her son, he'd have a far easier time attempting to calm her down.
A sentiment that was quickly proven correct. Tarch's words had struck some kind of cord with his mother. Justus could still hear the anger albeit less intense than before in Kohlra's voice. She granted Justus permission to stay within their camp. His hands lowered themselves to his sides. The tension he'd been feeling left as his body noticeably relaxed. From behind his rubied faceplate, Justus's eyes followed the flicker of the woman's tail. Only now becoming aware that the two before him weren't human. Pieces of a puzzle within his mind began to click together. "Forgive me but...you two are Saiyans aren't you?" was a question like that impolite to ask? If it was it was too late for Justus to take it back now.
He'd never met a Saiyan before. He'd run into a Namekian and a few other aliens before but never a Saiyan. Justus had heard rumors about the race. That they were bloodthirsty warriors hellbent on the destruction and conquering of worlds. Such a description might have fit Kohlra, at least from what Justus had seen from her so far. It certainly didn't fit the boy. Tarch appeared to be rather innocent. He very much still held the air of a child about him and not a warrior. Clearly assuming such a blanket statement about the Saiyans to be true was a mistake. After all, every human was different from the next in a variety of ways.
"My apologies if that came off as offensive in any way." he paused for a moment and gave an apologetic bow of his head. "I've just never met any Saiyans before. I've only heard rumors." he finished. He waited to see if he had indeed offended them. Though if they were a race of warriors perhaps something as trivial as that wouldn't. Regardless it didn't seem like Justus was going to get an answer. Just moments after he had finished speaking did the log that had been thrown at him began to shake. A shrill and muffled screech rang in the hero's ears. He took several steps away from the log and ready himself for a fight. An action mirrored by Kohlra.
The log fell onto its side and the screeching from within it became much louder. Justus's muscles tensed and he quickly increased his power. The scarlet aura that was his ki roared to life around his body. A creature from within the log came stumbling outward and Justus pointed a hand directly at it. Ready to fire his Scarlet Bullet into the downed creature's backside. A plan that quickly fell apart as the young boy hurled himself towards the insect. All the while screaming out what Justus assumed was a name. He wanted to yell for Tarch to get out of the way, but it soon became apparent to him that they knew each other. His body relaxed when Tarch began to introduce not only the insect but himself and his mother as well.
Today was really turning into quite an experience for him. The trio of strangers couldn't see it from underneath his mask. But a dumbfounded look was sprawled across Justus's face. He sighed heavily and lowered his arm back to his side. The aura of energy around him slowly dimming until it faded away entirely. "You..uh....certainly keep interesting company Tarch." he replied trying his best to keep his voice sounding calm. He likely failed, traces of his confusion and bewilderment leaking into the tone of his voice.
He barely had time to adjust to the new status quo of things before being given a task. Kohlra called out to him and Justus took his attention away from Tarch and Chromo. "Yeah? he responded quickly before simply nodding as she gave him instruction. He figured it was for the best if he just did as he was told. Justus ventured out of the small alcove and towards some of the nearby trees. Gathering as many reasonably sized branches and sticks as he could. Now that he was alone, Justus muttered something from underneath his breath. "And I thought I was strange." not that he wasn't. But these guys certainly seemed to have him beat in some aspects.
Justus returned to the alcove a few moments later. A decent collection of sticks of varying sizes within his grasp. He dropped them down near the fire. "Do all your training trips turn out like this? Or is this one just special?" he was curious, perhaps more than he should be.
