After all, what's a magic show if the performer gives away his secrets?
THREAD PL: 3,500
Magic could do many extraordinary things.
Create money out of thin air? Not... quite yet. Which is why Kent had decided to put a temporary halt on his traveling and, for lack of a better term, make money off of the tourists traveling by. The Southern Tropics were popular for their fair weather and lavish beaches, and South City was a popular destination to stay while you were in the region.
Meaning, Kent's set up on the street where he was performing parlor tricks was raking in the dough. Turns out all it takes to wow a bunch of people is a dressed up guy on a stage shooting sparks or making a tiny trinket disappear.
The fact that he was actually using magic was moot, but Kent supposed it made it look and feel a bit more authentic than nothing else. His current crowd just finished tipping him generously, Kent bowing as the coins clinked into the neat box he had on the table.
Straightening, he set about clearing his workplace in preparation for the start of the next cycle. True, he had already earned more than needed to sustain himself, but packing extra so he didn't have to stop for a while wasn't a bad plan.
With his luck, his day could continue on normally without any interference from drunken thugs or hostile aliens. ...Hopefully.
Regardless, it was time to start the next show. Kent turned back around, clearing his throat audibly and stepping unto a wooden stage, fake "wand" in hand. LAIKA OF THQ

Mollusc was walking through South city looking around. He was going to get back on track on his mission. He had to find recruits to train, people to fight with agiasnt the kingdom if they decided to turn to the side of evil. Mollusc had not been doing much to prepare for this. Now he knew it was the time to start moving forward and starting to take action. Mollusc arrived looking over a crowd of people who were watching something. Course they eventually left. He looked at the man they were watching. He was a human, with black hair. He had some sort of stick in his hands. He wondered what had gotten those humans to watch him. He'd walk over standing around to see what this man was doing. He'd scan around his table and see the little box he had. The man even had a stage. It was like he was putting on some sort of show. Mollusc decided to watch this man and his show. Might be a little fun. It could give him some time to relax and not worry about the kingdom and the threat it could pose to the people of earth.

An alien? Interesting development... perhaps they'd like a few tricks or something or similar ilk?
Right before he begun, Kent caught a glimpse of green among the crowd. A figure well into the territory of seven feet towered over most the humans, who oddly enough didn't seem to notice or care. Kent knew that they were an alien, just not... what kind. Not that he particularly cared all that much, given he didn't have to fight them. A donation or maybe a conversation about his home sounded nice...
Kent shook his head, setting his focus back on track and bowed to the full mass of people."Thank you all for taking time out of your day to enjoy my little spectacle..." The words were followed by a quick toss of his wand into the air, followed by a faintly whispered: "Presto." the rod paused midair, spinning for a few seconds before vanishing into a puff of smoke. "My name is Kent the Magician, and I hope to entertain you~" LAIKA OF THQ

He'd look around at the crowd around him. It was pretty big, this guy seemed pretty popular. What could he do to attract so much attention? He finally started his show. He watched the man toss the wand into the air unsure what he was going to do with that. Then, he made it disappear. To him anyway, it seemed he had turned it into smoke. It was not as if he moved really fast to grab it. He would have seen it so he assumed it was for real at least for now. The man called himself the magician. Mollusc wondered if humans could learn magic as his people could? He never had a talent for magic himself but he knew many of his people did. He decided to keep watching and see what other tricks this human could do. Maybe he had some talent that could be used in combat rather than getting people to watch a show.

So far, so good. I can only hope that my guests continued to enjoy what I have to offer to them.
Kent's attention fully raptured on his every action as to prevent an accident, the thought of the crowd slipped away as the show continued. Sparks, small fires in his palm from nowhere, levitating objects, making a flower smell... questionable, and turning it back to a nice scent once more. Nothing too difficult or flashy, but each effect sent a wave of awe through the audience present. By now, he had been performing for perhaps twenty minutes - and it was time to move onto the finale.
"Windfall." A gust of wind pulsed across the area, before Kent suddenly began floating gracefully into the air - striking a few poses. "And now..." he looked upwards, calculating exactly what he'd have to do to make this trick believable. "I shall summon lightning!" he boldly declared, raising his hand up. "Presto." an illusory storm cloud began to form, dark and menacing and casting the street in minor shadow. "Flux!" the distance and speed of flux lightning compared to the cloud would make it seem like it had originated from the sky, despite the opposite being true. In an instant, a clash of sparks flew from his palm as the booming sound of thunder rang out accompanied by a bright flash.
"Nailed it." Kent thought to himself, awaiting a reaction from the people below. LAIKA OF THQ

Now the man seemed to make little flames. That what he assumed he was doing. So he could not only make things disappear but conjure fire. HE has been going on for a long time. He didn't keep track of the time but he was putting on a good show. While Mollusc was somewhat impressed that fade quickly. Sure, it was cool and something he could not do but in terms of power it was nothing all that special. Guess that was what he was more focused on. He watched as the man seemed to be getting to the final act. With a gust of wind, the man was now flying. A bit showier then how he'd do it but he confirmed to him anyway that he had great abilities.
He'd keep his eyes on him as he was now calling lighting. Now, this would be cool to see. He watched as the man formed a storm above him. It seemed to be only affected the street. It was impressive, to say the least. He had some of the tricks before, but this was not normal. He had talent. Mollusc smiled, he wondered if he could be a fighter like he was? As he finished his trick he began to clap with the rest of the crowd. It was a good show. He didn't approach yet since the show may still have more to it but he was defiantly intrigued to ask about how he gained his magic talents and how else he used them.

And with that, it's come to a close.
Lowering himself back to the ground, Kent allowed himself silence for a few moments as the crowd finished the ovation, bowing in response and grinning. "Yes, thanks again for stopping by! Feel free to leave a donation in the box, if you are so inclined." Afterward, most of the bystanders had dispersed - a great deal of them leaving coins in his trust box which Kent was quick to snatch up. That would be his last show for the day - the strain of Flux was much higher than Prestidigitation, for whatever reason, and Kent felt that he shouldn't push himself to appease a bunch of random people.
The Alien had yet to leave, though he had seen it clap along with everyone else. Maybe it was curious if he'd be doing another performance soon? He coughed into his hand to grab its attention, standing upright and walking a bit closer."Hello! I saw you attended my performance. I hope you enjoyed it. Was there... anything else you needed?" It seemed the show was finally over. It was a nice show, to say the least. He then noted if anyone wanted to leave donations they could. He left other people to do that, he had no plan to pay someone for magic tricks. He saved his money for himself. He didn't have a lot in the first place, not that he needed much. He watched as the man walked closer to him. Seems the magician had noticed him. Mollusc bowed his head. "IT was a good show. IF I may ask for your name. I am Mollusc." He'd raise his head back up as Kent asked if he was looking for anything else. "I was curious if you were a martial artist. Your magic from my gaze is not merely a parlor trick but in fact true magic. Would that be true?"

A... martial artist? Who also knew magic? Perhaps he was simply misinterpreting the words. Kent cleared his throat, taking off his mask for sake of civility. "I'm not exactly a martial artist, sorry to disappoint." He paused, adopting a wary look. "I am however a mage. A very real one, I might add. For what reason would you be seeking one out, might I ask, Mollusc?" LAIKA OF THQ
