He exhaled a stream of cigarette smoke, blackened eyes staring ever forward towards the ruined and rocky waste before him. Scallio pulled the loose hanging cigarette from his mouth and flicked it onto the ground. Crushing it beneath his boots and letting out a low grumble. The Saiyan's tail flicked back and forth in frustration as the scope of his contract dawned on him. His quarry could have been anywhere in this place. The Saiba Wastes had proven to be much larger than he was originally led to believe. It was his own fault for not having known that though. So he couldn't blame anyone but himself. Still, he wished the contractor had at least warned him this place was huge. He'd have brought along scouter in order to make the task easier for himself.
A simple hunt and retrieve contract that should have taken only an hour or two at most. Had now turned into something that the mercenary imagined was going to take him most of the day. "What kind of Saiyan loses their dog in a place like this anyway?" he muttered with a roll of his eyes. A better question would have been what kind of Saiyan didn't train their canine to obey. A foolish one. Scallio's body lifted up from the ground slowly rising ever upward until he was roughly fifty feet into the air. He scanned the area around him to the best of his ability. Keeping an eye out for any signs of movement or something that he'd be able to recognize as a dog. Several seconds passed before a flicker of movement off in the distance caught his attention.
His head snapped towards the direction he'd seen it from just in time to watch something duck behind a moss-covered rock. Scallio wasn't cocky enough to assume he'd gotten lucky on his first try. Rarely did things ever work out that smoothly in life. Something that he kept in the back of his mind as he flew off towards whatever it was. He touched down on the opposite side of the rock, "Come on out Fido..." he order but whatever was behind the rock refused to listen. Instead, Scallio received an ear-shattering screech in response. His hands quickly darted to cover his ears to block out the painful noise. This gave the creature and its allies the opening they had been waiting for. Erupting from beneath the arid and cracked ground came three Saibamen.
The clicked and cackled as Scallio's eyes darted from each of them. Only to suddenly find his attention drawn towards the top of the rock. Where a much bigger Saibamen with bulky arms and legs stood towering above him. He silently cursed himself for allowing himself to be caught off guard, and by Saibamen no less. The three that surrounded him on the ground wasted no time in attacking. Their mouth's opened wide and Scallio recoiled in disgust as a stream of green liquid was ejected from the back of their throats. He yelled out in pain as the Saibamen's acid collided with his body. He could feel it burning away at the surface of his armor. If he wasn't careful it likely dissolve his skin into mulch.
Perhaps someone nearby could assist the ambushed Saiyan?

There was a certain danger that the Saiba Wastes appeared to produce uniquely, every footstep had to be considered with superb caution. The swampy yellow color found in this habitat only exacerbating the problem as it made everything much harder to discern. He remembered it all too clear from his previous hunting experience, now coming exceedingly more equipped his clothes reflecting this fact. Yuca seemed to be wearing some kind of clothing that was tinged a specific pattern indicting a kind of camouflage. Adorned additionally with faded black boots and a visor that bore a subtle pink hue, worn-out evident by time's inevitable strain. A more experienced chaser now, his prey all the easier to find given that he came equipped properly. If one were to pay attention they'd see him armed, gun in hand. Smaller than the kind he usually used for this practice. A pistol modified to fit a particular kind of scope alongside another attachment, a silencer of remarkable size. His eyes were steady honing themselves over time as they searched for a target. <So far, so good. Maybe with all the bounties I've acquired they've finally depopulated. Worth a shot anyways, better they extinct then causing havoc.>
Calculated strides along the scorched plains, being too careful wasn't exactly a possibility on these lands. Along every turn his suspicion only furthered. Taking it to such a degree that he proceeded to shoot a tumble weed, a silenced shot that still managed to make a sound in the dead quiet of the crude field. The dead plant looked harmless or at least so he thought. <I'm really losing it out here, I could've sworn that my scouter said otherwise. How strange..> In distrust of the conflicting messages, Yuca made an advance towards the bizarre shape. The supposed piece of dried shrubbery wasn't all too dead, to his surprise it began to unravel into a class of beast he was all too familiar seeing. Skin a somber green, bearing piercing red eyes looking right back at him. It bore appendages of lanky proportion, sporting more than the common amount at that. <A spider-type Saiba-Animal? Odd, I might as well go for that bounty. This kind's been rare it seems.> In the process of raising his firearm the creature struck at him, catching him off guard in rapid assault. The arachnid-like foe launched a charge should've been adjusted to granted his experience. Despite the many encounters with the reoccurring scenario, he was overwhelmed.
A stream of corrosive fluid would fly in his face to great displeasure on his part. Granted the diversion, the Saiba-Beast used it to its own advantage. Running away before he grew the wiser, realizing it all too late. Fairly preoccupied by the acid drops he was trying to fling off his body. His clothes tainted by the attack as he looked somewhat worse for wear. <Can't say I'm not used to this by now.> His period of rest broken up by signs of battle, hearing a scuffle while smelling that recognizable acid yet again. After a brief search with his scouter he honed in the target in question, making out the exact shapes of them due to proximity. It was a wonder he hadn't noticed before. <So that makes it, one Saiyan and three Saiba-Animals. My odds look fairly well.> Firearm secured he went quick to the draw, firing at two of the Saiba-Beats dead on while he skimmed the other. Hitting it on a superficial level though damaging it to the point in which it ran away. He lost the opportunity to take a shot, not trusting his accuracy from shot a distance. Without another plan in mind Yuca walked up to the Saiyan, waving a hand as he took one off the pistol. "Looks like I'm not the only one around here, surprising really. Allow me to introduce myself, the name is Yuca. And you are?"
Mollusc was walking through the Saiba Waste. He remembered when he came here on a mission for Vocado to get Saibaman seeds. That time was far away now. He and the king were two different men now. Mollusc served good and Vocado may serve evil. Mollusc was no longer of the kingdom but it didn't mean he'd not help out every once in a while. He heard from a drunk saiyan about trouble with the vermin. So he decided to deal with them. Plus it could get his mind off anything heavy and annoying things. Just focus on being a warrior. Being himself without any troubles in the entire world.
As he walked he heard three loud gunshots. He'd paused as he saw a saibaman pass him. Seems something hit the beast. He'd look at it as it ran off. He did think about blasting it but it was running off. He'd decided to leave it be. He'd walk down to see two figures standing around. One was a saiyan and another was...a humanoid. He could not tell if he was human, saiyan or something else. Nothing tipped off to any of the options. Mollusc looked at the two figures giving them a nod. "I assume you were out hunting the beasts you two. I'm assuming your both saiyans?" He'd said trying to gauge if they actually both where or pale one was some other species of alien.
He was struggling. The constant stream of acid was making it difficult for him to channel his ki. At the rate this was going it would only be a matter of time before the Saibamen ate through his armor. Then they'd have all access path to his flesh. Would this really be how it ended for him? Taken out by a bunch of Saibamen? He couldn't help but feel pathetic. He clenched his teeth, frustrated and in pain. He needed to come up with something and fast. Ending up as Saiba-Mulch was not how he wanted to go out. "Fucking...bastards," he muttered through clenched teeth. If he could push through the pain long enough to summon a barrier...
A tactic that wouldn't be necessary as Scallio would soon find out. His head darted towards his right as one of the Saibamen's head exploded in a mess of gore. His eyes widened but he barely enough time to adjust. As the Saibaman on his left took a bullet to the brain as well. While lacking in the explosive gore, it was just as effective in taking it out. The creature's body fell limp onto the ground as another shot was fired. Aimed for the third Saibamen but failing to do any real damage. The sudden shots and the loss of its two comrades was enough to cause the creature to start fleeing, however.
As the pain from the acidic substance started to fade, it was quickly replaced with rage. Now unhampered by the assault his aura roared to life. The orange aura of ki flickered and twitched as he took aim at the fleeing Saibamen. Scallio bellowed with anger as energy built up within the palm of his hand. "EAT MY FUCKING SIEGE CANNON YOU WORTHLESS MAGGOT!" and the attack fired. The large beam of energy rocked forth from his hand and engulfed the Saiba. The beam slowly began to fade and Scallio took a few deep breaths. His anger cooling as the target of his rage ceased to exist. Shortly after his tantrum, the source of the gunshots made himself know.
He introduced himself as Yuca and the Saiyan gave a nod of his head. Whipping whatever leftover slime remained on his armor after as he spoke. "It's a pleasure Yuca, the names Scallio." he was embarrassed someone had seen him in such a state of weakness. He kicked at one of the defeated Saibamen's bodies, "Thanks for the save but I had the situation under control." pride kept him from giving the man proper thanks. "You've got impressive aim by the way," he added. Scallio couldn't tell if the guy was human, Saiyan, or something else. Not that it mattered but it would tell him if the man was a native of Vegeta. The Namekians voice came from behind and Scallio turned to face him. He was still on edge with everything that happened with the Saibamen. That his aura of ki sprang to life for a brief second.
"Not hunting Saibamen, I'm actually out here looking for a lost dog." although recent events made him think exterminating Saibas would be a good idea. The slugman inquired if Scallio and Yuca were both Saiyans. His tail moved into view from behind him, wrapping itself around his left leg. "I am indeed a Saiyan. Why's it matter to you though? Don't tell me your racist or something buddy? If you are coming to our home planet would be stupid." surely that wasn't the case though. Scallio shrugged his shoulders, "Whatever the case. Either of you wouldn't have happened to see a dog running around here have you?" it was a longshot but it didn't hurt to ask.
What first became a solo sport gradually became a group affair, people showing up left and right in such an undesirable location. <Funny, I didn't expect that many encounters with other individuals. Quite the coincidence if I had to say so.> No longer hunting he placed the gun its holster found on one of his thigh's. Immediately going to the shake the hand of Scallio as he nodded. "Well met Scallio, these are a strange parts." A slight smirk formed at the corner's of his lips. "Oh my mistake, I'll keep these bullets for my own gain then. Oh my aim? Its nothing, practice has made all the difference." Though planning to maintain conversation with the Saiyan, that was soon interrupted by the advent of a Namek caught his interest. One of the tall and well-built variety, his caste seemingly proved obvious. <Warrior I take it?> Through the goal of reaching civility, Yuca decided to reply to the questions he was imposed. "Hunting Saiba-Beast, yes its the main sport I've come to enjoy while being here. The money for it isn't that bad either."
He laughed at the second remark, shaking his head. <I suppose the two species do have a lot of overlap in aesthetic. But still.> "Saiyan? I don't think that'd be accurate" The young man emphasized his long pointy ears in addition to his pale skin. "I'm no such thing. I'm a Konatsian, you may have heard of our kind. Even with this said however, I don't think this is how we should make discussion. Let's be polite with things shall we?" He took a bow towards the Namekian. "My name is Yuca, and your name?" After that such display of courtesy Yuca went back to his own devices, adjusting his scouter while he read all the data about the immediate vicinity. Trying to pick up any information on possible Saiba-Beasts hidden behind some place he couldn't see with the naked eye.
As he arrived a beam passed him blowing away the saibaman he had let flee. Guess he deserved that. He'd look at the two figures who were talking to one another. The Saiyan explained he was not hunting Sabiaman. Then he asked why it mattered? "I was just curious. I don't care what species you are. That changes very little." He didn't understand why he thought he not like saiyans? Namekians lived on Vegeta afterall, they interacted in the past. Course with the war maybe that was made rarer. The man then asked if he had seen a dog. That was why he was out here. "I can't say friend sorry to say," Mollusc said calmly as he'd look around just in case it was somewhere nearby. Nothing.
He'd look at Yuca as he stated he was not saiyan but rather Konatsian. Which Mollusc had no idea what that was. Guess it was another species that was neither under the kingdom's sway or the WTF sway. He then talked about being polite and introduced himself. Guess that was something he should of done first. He let out a puff as he nodded to Yuca. "I am Mollusc." He said though he almost added he was the champion of Porunga. He was not anymore, he had to remember that. Porunga had not given him guidance so he was on his own. All the choices he had to make not someone else. "I suppose I can help you both I have nothing better to do," Mollusc said as he cracked his neck. Maybe he could get rid of some of the rust.
Neither of them had seen the dog, much to Scallio's disappointment. His search would continue. He did learn, however, the man named Yuca was a Konatsian. A race of pointed ear people from the planet of Kontas. Scallio had heard of the race in his travels throughout the galaxy. He'd never given them much thought though. Perhaps that had been a mistake on his part? If Yuca and his marksmen skill were any indication of what the people of Kontas were capable of. Then he'd have to give the planet a visit. Try his hand at recruiting a few them into the ranks of the Apes.
The Saiyan remained oddly quiet as the two strangers began to converse. Introducing themselves to one another like people tended to do. He took this time to think about his next course of action. The search for this dog was going to prove difficult. Especially if the Saibas were making use of ambushes and force. It was that thought entered into his mind that something dawned on him. "Shit...what if it's dead?" he spoke absentmindedly if that was the case this contract might have been a complete waste of his time. He groaned in frustration and slapped his face into his palm.
This whole day was nothing but stressful so far.
He peeked through his fingers at the Namekian when the offer for help was given. He thought of decline the offer, after all, he hardly knew the Namekian or the Konatsian. The help was needed though. This area was huge and the Saibas were a danger that had shown he couldn't just ignore them. His hand lowered from his face and he gave a nod of his head. "I hate to admit it but I could actually use the help. This mutt could be anywhere..." he motioned towards the expanse around them. Scallio turned his attention towards Yuca, who seemed to be doing something with his scouter.
"Maybe you could use that thing to find it for me? In exchange, I'll help you out in hunting down these Saibas. I could use some revenge." a deal that didn't really have a downside. He held his hand outward for the man to shake once more, should he agree to the term.
The developments made in such a short span of time definitely made for an unusual experience, fairly nervous by the foreign encounters. Mind racing in place as it couldn't quite stay still, the stimulus of new people finally setting in. A cautious look found in his eyes, squinting carefully. While he perhaps wasn't the most honest person himself, there seemed to be a certain familiar aspect in this scenario. As a strange looming sense of Déjà vu enveloped him, the man wouldn't ignore it. Yuca grew to be less trusting of seemingly harmless individuals, his senses proved to be his dearest comrades in many situations. Enforcing this sentiment of xenophobia. <All this conversation's nice, but we're in the middle of nowhere without the prospect of civilization's gaze coming to us anytime soon. If something happens, I can't help but feel I won't have any alternative. There's nothing to fall back on here.> He shed part of his visual focus to look at the Namekian. The mechanical eyepiece lighting up as a short series of symbols formed on the miniature computer. The process repeated itself for the Saiyan as a conclusion gathered in his conscious.
<If things go awry, I lack the means to deal with the potential threats. Or maybe they're in it for the bounty, coming to take mine as well? Feels like I'm overthinking things, best to forget it.> Though lost in thought, Yuca quickly brought himself back to the dialogue. Words spoken by both parties getting his attention. "Dead? What do you mean by that? The Saiba-Beasts, they're gone I'm certain." The Konatsian was confused by the Saiyan's words, perhaps having misunderstood them as he tried to make sense of the statement. <I missed something, I guess I'll leave it be.> Given patience, Scallio's words became all the more clear. Piecing together the information, constructing a cohesive understanding of a story he would've otherwise been confused by. It very well held a significant possibility that his isolation made him very anxious. "I'll help you on your search, you mean this?" The Konatsian pointed to his scouter. "It'll prove useful I can imagine, don't worry about my hunting. Right now, I'm merely practicing."
Mollusc waited for an answer from the two men considering they were hunting saibaman. The two of them didn’t look all that strong to Mollusc anyway. Only took one good pack and they’d be turned to space dust. Finally, Scallio spoke out and said he’d take their help. “Alright.” Mollusc smiled as he looked over at Yuca. He noted he’d help with the hunt for the dog. Hopefully, they’d be able to find him the Saibaman could have torn the beast apart. Yuca also had a scouter so that would help. Though from what he knew about scouters they didn’t do a good job. How would he know what power level was the dog? Though he could not sense ki at all so they at least some sort of lead. “Well let's go find the dog we have any clues where he might have gone?” Mollusc asked Scallio. He assumed he had more information about this job than anyone else.
