Tebooleh grunted as he held newspaper clipping up to his eyes for the umpteenth time since he'd started his little journey. And for the umpteenth time since he'd started his journey, he debated turning around. Since the beginning, he'd been debating whether or not the little ad was just some joke. There was the spelling error right before the "address", which was actually a coordinate code. Then there was the error that someone had made when originally penning the words for the flyer, which had somehow made it all the way to printing. A crossed out pair of words. What kind of professional would do such a thing? But... he had to admit... the idea of a godly, or ascended tutor was appealing. If the flyer was even partially correct, it might lead to a person that could get him out of the "slump" he'd hit recently. Plus an opportunity to mingle with greater powers than himself.
So he'd pressed on. Through mountains... deserts... forest... Until, finally, he came to a familiar-looking clearing in the middle of the vast Fukurou forest. It looked more trashed than it had the last time. Food wrappers, bottles, cans, all sorts of trash littered the ground. There were remnants of campfires, too. And a few store-bought tents that had been abandoned by owners that could afford to dump them. After glancing from side to side, and reaching out with his ki-senses... Tebooleh took a little auto-pack/auto-unpack model. With just the press of a button, the little neon tent was stored inside of a generic capsule. The tri-clops stowed it into the little breast pocket of his thawb, then looked back to the tower. He narrowed his eyes.
He'd been here before, a while ago. After hearing legends of the guardian that dwelled at the top of the great stone edifice. It seemed he wasn't the only one. Had the guardian indeed made this newspaper ad? How many had come before him to climb the tower? How many had been tested? Would there even still be room for one such as him at the top? There was only one way to answer any of those questions. He had to climb. No flight. No levitation. No assistance from ropes or mechanical devices. The last stipulation hadn't been in the ad, but Tebooleh figured it went without saying. Though there wasn't any sort of stipulation as to how one had to climb...
Tebooleh walked back to the edge of the clearing. Right to where the grass met tree-line. He stopped right at that point, then turned towards the great stone tower. He took a deep breath... streeeeetched his legs and his arms with a few gentle motions... then he ran. Right for the tower. He went from about zero to sixty in ten seconds thanks to his enhanced strength and speed. If he continued for more than a few moments, he was going to crash right into the stone. That was why he leaped up a tad into the air on one step, then pushed against the ground upon landing. This caused him to leap up into the air. His body traveled in a little arc that brought him up to a bit of the tower's decoration that stuck out, forming a ledge. The pad of his sandaled foot landed on it, then pushed to propel him up even higher. His eyes had already identified a suitable point to land and leap from.
A few hours later, with a few quick breaks for water and snacks, Tebooleh could see the orb-shaped top of the tower. He as close! So very close! He could even make out the details like stairs, etched carvings, guard-rails and internal pillars. It was much like the majority of the legends had described it. The domicile was grand, wide open to the air, and high above the clouds. Truly, the man thought to himself, this was a home befitting a god. If indeed one lived there. He could feel a powerful energy at least as he landed on the staircase that stuck out from the side of the great... bubble.
With one final push of his legs, the three-eyed man leaped from there into the open-air chamber above. His arc had been perfectly planned, so that the force of the light push would carry him JUST over the guardrail. So close that his toes were less than an inch from grazing the top of it. He sailed past it, and came to a landing on tiled floor just a few feet inside. After landing, he felt the wind rustle the hem of his white thawb, and the bottoms of his trousers. It also tugged a bit at his keffiyeh, but the headwrap was more than secure on his head. He briefly smiled to himself, then sighed and peered around. The great hall was... not quite as immaculate as he would have pictured. But the design was still quite grand and open. He could see the sky all around him, with the only interruption being pillars that were painted a pale blue color. Or perhaps the stone that they were made of was just that color naturally. Either way, the pillars almost blended with the sky, so that they did not mar the view from above the clouds with their necessary presence. It was a rather elegant little bit of design.
With his "neutral" (resting bitch) face on, Tebooleh crossed his arms. All three of his brows furrowed over all three of his eyes. Then he called out...
"...I seek the master of this tower! The Senbyō! For it is written that he seeks worthy students..." He held up the newspaper ad in front of his body as if it were some holy scroll. Some ancient parchment that contained wisdom from the ancients. "...and I have come to prove myself as such!"
