The iron grey sky over the mountain range dropped snow like rain. A lone Arcosian wearing a skin tight black one piece sat on a massive rock with his legs folded under him. His eyes closed and his hands in a meditation pose. His mind tranquil and open to the universe around him. The young warrior had spoken to a human called a monk and had been told that doing this before training would open his senses and allow him to grow stronger. Now he was traveling the path of past, present and future. His fathers dream, his own ambition, and the place where the two would combine. Vetur took a deep breath into his lungs than released it back into the wild. The crisp cool air made his lungs feel clear and cold. Rising from his position, Vetur looked out on the mountains in the distance and up close. Pushing off the rock, Vetur dropped the half mile to the ground below where he landed in knee length snow. A burst of ki left a six foot wide clear circle.
This extreme weather was perfectly suited to train in flight. Most would choose warm areas and nice weather but that messed up people flying in bad weather for the first time. Vetur had been trained in harsh weather to not only fly and hover in weather like this but also to fight and to use the elements as allies in the battle. So now Vetur awaited the arrival of the earthling, having chosen a place where a vehicle could arrive in relatively safety. This was step one in the training regiment Vetur had planned for his newest member. The young Arcosian had been trained by his own father who was only a mid rank member of the World Trade Fleet but his teaching was much better than his own actual fighting talent. Vetur planned to turn Logan into a ruthless member of the Fleet.

Out of all the places to be getting a faux aviation pass, Mt. Frappe was one of the last ones he would've expected. Grey, snow-covered sloping and jagged spires ran all along the base of the mountain - sheer drops and cliff faces dotting the behemoth of icy stone itself - the conditions of constant snowfall and ice rain did little to help. If Vetur was trying to kill him, he was definitely on the right damn track. Logan's Power Level had grown enough from his constant training to the point where the sheer cold wasn't a hazard in of itself, so he could at least spare some discomfort as he ascended higher and higher. A perfectly cut polygonal purple gem sat snugly at the center of his chest - held by a thin but immensely durable string which felt warm to the touch. As per usual, it was gleaming with a somewhat bright tint despite only cloudy daylight making any sort of light available in the first place. It sat contentedly, a spot of familiar heat despite being such a new addition to his being.
It wasn't much longer before Logan came upon his 'teacher' - the Arcosian seemingly half engrossed in some sort of meditation. After having realized they hadn't gone too far up, he felt a bit silly. A snowmobile or ATV could've made the trip up with ease... oh well. He'd just chalk it up to 'training'. Now that he was here... a pulsating feeling washed over him - gem sparking a bit as a series of... unpleasant emotions washed over him as he laid eyes upon Vetur. He blinked, and just as quick as it came the feeling was gone. What was that? Whatever. More important stuff to focus on right now. Like... getting himself killed in flight school. Sounds nifty. "Vetur. I've arrived."
He did feel a tad stupid announcing it like that, given the Arcosian more than likely already knew, though it was an attempt to break the silence that had pervaded between them since he had arrived. He hoped he wasn't being rude in case of potential backlash...

Vetur heard the hum of an engine those earthlings used to get around coming up the mountain. e twitched as the unnatural collided with the calm natural of the world. His name being called did nothing to interrupt Vetur as he finished his meditation and opened his cobalt eyes to look at Logan. He rose fluidly from his seated position with the skill of a trained martial artist, coming to his feet he rolled his shoulders for sore muscles and walked towards his soldier. "Logan, you are looking stronger. Nice necklace." Vetur stopped a few feet away and folded his arms across his chest. "Today we are going to teach you how to fly on your own power. This area here is the calmest for starters and as you progress we will head higher for a tougher challenge. At the peak is turbulent winds and heavy snow that you will challenge and may not die. After that we will have some fun and go for a trip above the clouds if you survive."
"Now watch, first the example is to show it looks easy." Vetur floated up, his arms still crossed till he was twenty feet in the air. after ten seconds he floated down to the ground once more. "Now to build trust I will tell you about myself. my name is Vetur Cold. I hail from Arcose and Clan Cold. I have been out of boot camp for six months and still in the military mindset." Vetur waved his hand in a sit down motion as he gracefully dropped into a cross legged sitting position. His cobalt gaze resting on his new ally. "A bit about me. I am the grandson of Wyntre Cold the last empress of Arcose, I was trained by my father in martial combat and I found to be very efficient in it. I have been on earth for one month before I was told to form a squad under me and the Cold name." He leaned against the giant rock finding it strangely comfortable to be sitting and relaxing after being so series lately. He hadn't taken in the sights and smells of a mountain before and he found it very soothing. "I am going to help you learn this today so you don't have to rely on that machine."
Vetur raised a finger and nodded. "Wat you are going to want to do is build your ki, close your eyes and feel the world around you. Once you understand the exterior of the world you can look inside yourself for your true capabilities. In our fight you released your ki and that is a step in the right direction but now comes the fun part of harnessing that ki, controlling it until it comes as natural as breathing . Your ki is part of you like your arms or legs and like those limbs you are proud of you need to work out your ki. Now , close your eyes and open your senses. Not just your ears and nose but your intuition as well Your instincts and ki are primal, now you make them one."

Alright. So they weren't starting at the peak - that's a perk, he supposed. Moving up to the peak in such a short time was the drawback... given he still hadn't been able to successfully utilize or maintain Ki energy whatsoever since they had fought, excluding the one practice session with the Saiyan, Nashua. Creating a purple ball of weak energy is different from using your own life force to cause a rapid constant series of physical shifts in order to ignore gravity and move freely through the air. ...Or basically, he could do a basic weak sauce Ki blast and probably not flight so soon after. It wasn't as if he was going to have much of a choice in the matter, either. For one reason or another (honestly, he had chalked it up to species difference) the Arcosian seemed to believe in the whole 'throwing the baby bird out of the nest' philosophy when it came to learning. That was great and all, but the literal threat of ending up impaled in several places if his Ki failed him wasn't a pleasant outlook to have to worry about. "I'm Logan. Er... just Logan, I guess. I don't really have strong ties with my familial line. Really the only thing I know is that my father was into the whole 'demonology' type of stuff, but he passed away a long time ago." He shifted, boots crunching the snow beneath him as his breath turned to foggy mist on the chilling air. "Other than that, I'm just... me." He wouldn't fall into another fit of despair, given Nashua basically had lifted him out of said trench but... "Plain ol' human being, in the end." He couldn't just shake off the heavy sentiment that had sat on his shoulders throughout his life. "But hey, I get to learn something new today, don't I?"
Vetur didn't need to know, and probably didn't care, about his doubts and worries. He was a recruiter training a potential warrior - not a friend like Nashi or Nashua. That wasn't to say he held a particular grudge against the Arcosian - even his declaration of war against him had been so he could better himself more than anything else. No, but it wasn't the time or place to have a heart to heart conversation with him. So... the instructions to follow next were a bit unclear. It was like asking someone how something worked and they responded 'it just works'. He knew Ki was an integral part of living things, but knowing that and knowing how to use it was another thing. Vetur phrased it like all it took was a semblance of effort - a bit insulting though Logan knew that wasn't exactly what he had meant by the statement. Shrugging, he followed along anyway, closing his eyes and steadying his breathing - fists locked together and elbows bent out as he attempted to bring forth a spark of energy.

"Wrong!" Vetur's voice cracked the air like a whip. His cobalt gaze resting on the earthling. "Don't clinch, relax. Clenching your muscles work against you. Ki is more spiritual than physical otherwise we would be in a gym. Tune your mind with nature, feel its energy, its Ki. Set out with your mind and let the body relax and take a breather. As I said your ki is as primal as your need for food or water. Everything has ki or lifeforce. Every stone, every plant, every animal. The difference between us and them is we have the will to manifest it into being. Thus relax, focus on the world before focusing on yourself." The Arcosian rose from where he sat and walked over to Logan. "When you fly you must be one with your self and one with your ki. For some controlling and manifesting their ki is easy as can be while some.....like myself had to work hard to obtain the skills necessary to do it."
"Now, take a deep breath and hold it, see if you can feel the ki in the air, the snow on your tongue, the cold in your lungs. Look for what is invisible to all but the minds eye and then look outward before looking inward. You unleashed your ki when you panicked, you wanted to live, to hurt me, to defeat me. You gave up everything that made you human and turned on your most basic instincts, your primal instincts." Vetur walked back and forth in the deep snow. "Now, everything I have said has given you the tools you need to succeed in this endeavor. Focus on what you can't see, not with your senses but with your minds eye. Once you see out you have must look in and see your own Ki."

Yeah. Silly him, just do it, of course! Why hadn't he thought of that before? Logan's face twitched, but he managed to keep his expression impassive as Vetur spoke - determined to not show his frustration to his faux mentor for the time being. It wouldn't help his situation at all. Logan shifted his stance, opening his eyes and taking a few breaths before attempting to try again. At least he could admit his approach had apparently been too blunt; the Arcosian comparing the usage of life force more to meditation than utilizing a muscle. More instinct than will. Fine. He could work with that. The gem which hung suspended from his neck by a thread trembled slightly, pulsating with a comforting warmth which helped him to relax. He was still unsure exactly what it was or what it did - but Kami knows if nothing else it just... made him feel better. Huh. Maybe he should bring it to Nashi or Chime sometime to check it out? Might be magic.
Vetur was at least right about one thing. That 'fight', if you could call it one, back at Yunazabit Heights had been his first real release of energy. A tangible formation of power which had turned his previously completely ineffective tactics painful. He'd even managed to move the Arcosian's face upon contact. What a novel idea. So. He concentrated. Not on himself, but on everything around him. On every sensation, every thought, and the mere knowledge of getting his due payback one day. A minute passed. Then two. Logan was close to calling it quits before he suddenly felt lighter. Not like he lost weight - but more as if gravity had lost its' grip on him.
He opened his eyes to see a faint purple glow surrounding his body, feet lifted up centimeters off the ground. ...Well ok. This was new. A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one. His necklace thrummed with constant energy, seemingly feeding into the aura lifting him up as Logan just... stayed still. Unsure of what exactly he was to do next.
