Inna told Methus of a saying they had that originated from a planet called “Earth.” Apparently, she rather enjoyed it, and took to it shortly after learning it, a thousand a some years ago—a number that still baffled the Phaethonian man.
‘Plans never survive contact with the battlefield.’
Truth be told, Methus enjoyed the thought, too. It fit a lot of his experiences in life so far. His filed the words away into the back of his mind before he asked Inna what she meant by them. In this case, she meant their own plans changed.
The woman on Vegeta that Inna had her eyes on? She left the world and headed, for reasons Inna did not know, straight to Namek and would arrive before they left. She had her own reasons for doing it, reasons that they needed to find out, but their planned trip to Vegeta could continue: There was another young Saiyan she had some interest in. Not quite as young as this one—Yacha, apparently—but young enough all on her own.
After being told where she would land, Methus decided to gamble with attracting Yacha to him. He approached the general area she was set to land in, according to Inna’s divine sight, and found a spot in one of the many, many flat plains to make himself comfortable. Still without a proper shirt, and only his own tight, blue pants that were still tattered and stained from combat, he made himself comfortable in the grass. A gentle breeze flowed over the land, like it always did, and Methus sank into a meditative position.
Inna suggested that today, instead of trying to hide his power like he did the day before, he tried to push it as high as he possibly could. If he forced himself to exert his power to the absolute limit and felt the flow of his Battle Power when he strained to maximize it, it might give him insights in how to control his power to flow in the other direction. Learn how to turn the faucet on even harder before he learned to turn it down to zero completely.
With a slight chill in the air, Methus did just that. A red glow appeared around his body almost immediately as he sat there, eyes closed. It rolled off him like heat, bubbling off into spheres of red that quickly evaporated into nothingness. He pushed his power as high as it could possibly go and, when it got there, tried to push it further and further yet. He felt his body, sturdier than ever since that battle with Achi, bear the strain better than he expected.
More fights like that, he realized, and he would have a real chance to conquer Eaus like he dreamed.
Which left him with his true dilemma: If this Yacha showed up, intrigued by the smoke signal of sorts that Methus created so close to her landing point, who else would join her? Even if only she showed up, good luck on its own, how would he convince a woman he knew very little about to join and fight alongside him and Inna? How would he convince her? His Kai companion had very little in the way of specifics to offer him when it came to her, which left Methus mostly to his own devices and the idea that Yacha lacked a direction in life yet bubbled with potential.
His people had individuals like that, too. He himself had been one: great potential and nothing to motivate him to tap into it, until, suddenly, he did have that motivation.
How can I possibly provide that to some person I haven’t even met yet?

Within the confines of a space pod that had been set to land on the Namekian home world soon enough, Yacha rested away peacefully. While the Saiyan youth hadn't been quite sure what she was going to do while on the foreign planet, surely there was something interesting to do there. If nothing else, she'd at least be able to meet some interesting people. Perhaps she'd even get the opportunity to fight some of the unfamiliar beings that inhabited the planet. Whilst not too familiar with how the Namekians functioned and whatnot, she knew that they were fairly peaceful beings, so there at least shouldn't have been any problem with her arriving there. Even if they didn't want her there, surely they wouldn't have done more than tell her to leave, right? And if push came to shove, then Yacha would just have to do her best to fight off any of the inhabitants that might've come her way. But for now at least, the young woman wasn't worried about any of that. She was just trying to get as much rest as possible for arriving- Which should've been soon enough.
An hour or so would pass before the Saiyan's sleep was eventually interrupted with a loud: Beep, beep, beep!
Yacha bolts up, completely startled by the random sound. Sadly, the ship wasn't very large. Thus, the youth smacks her head on the ceiling of the pod. "Ack! Dang that frickin' hurt!" She shouts, a hand reaching up to rub away at the top of her head. Whilst unsure of what the beeping was all about at first, a quick glance outside the single window the pod had helped her figure out what was going on. Just within sight, surrounded by a sea of black, a giant green ball could be seen. "Oh! Is that Namek? It's green just like in those pictures.." She says to herself, leaning back in the chair. It seemed like forever, the green planet seemingly getting larger and larger as her pod neared Namek. A smirk spreads across her face, fingers beginning to tap away endlessly on her thighs. Needless to say, the youth was pretty excited about the whole ordeal- After all, this was her first time traveling off Vegeta. Good thing that old man decided to give her this little gift for helping him out. Some more time would go by, the small pod eventually beginning to enter the planet's atmosphere!
A seat belt shot out, wrapping around the Saiyan's waist to keep her from smacking her head against anything else. What a nice feature. Overhead, the pod could be seen flying above plenty of Namekian villages. One thing that definitely caught her attention was the oddly colored water. Green water? That was pretty weird. But just as she was thinking about that, something else caught her attention! A power seemingly spiked up in the distance, invoking a few blinks from the Saiyan lass. Welp! Why not check that place out?- Wait.. that was exactly where her pod was set to land anyways! With just a few more minutes, Yacha's pod began to slow down before eventually beginning to come to a complete stop. Following that, it lowered down to the ground, the pod door slowly beginning to open up.
"Ah! I can finally leave that stupid thing!" Yacha says happily, quickly hopping right on out. And much to her surprise, somebody was hanging around the area- Somebody rather.. normal looking. Huh. The Saiyan squints a bit at the man after stretching some, eventually just standing there straight up after a bit. The woman wore a pair of black pants, a black shirt and a red sash of sorts wrapped around her waist. With one look at the Saiyan's attire, they'd probably be able to tell just how worn down it was. There were tears, stains, and the shirt looked to be a tad bit too big for the youth. But most notable of all was her brown tail that was right behind her. And if anyone were to get too close, they'd surely be able to tell her clothing didn't exactly smell the freshest. Not that Yacha would complain much about that at all. After all, they were free.
Slowly, she crosses her arms over her chest, eyes remaining fixed on the unfamiliar individual. Some rather simple questions are directed towards him. "Who're you? Why're you just hanging around the spot I landed at? Why aren't you Namekians green like in the pictures I saw? And.. uh.. I think those're all the questions I got- Well, the more important ones, anyways." That last question probably wasn't important at all to anybody else, but for whatever reason Yacha felt it was. After all, she came to see the green people, so that's what she expected.

Strong winds buffeted the Phaethonian man and whipped his dark blue hair in all directions, even from a distance. He smiled when he felt her energy approach him from her landing pod—an interesting form of travel, in his eyes—and slowly got to his feet. By the time she arrived and started to ask him a series of quick-tongued, sharp, and reasonable questions, he had gotten back to his full height. Behind him, his red spear remained stabbed in the soft dirt of this even-more-serene region of Namek, the bladed portion of the weapon concealed completely by the blue blades of grass.
“Don’t worry, Yacha. I’m not interested in hiding anything,” Methus explained with a tilt of his head and a smile, the first hint of the greater forces at work between them. “I’m clearly not a Namekian at all. I’m from a planet called Phaethon that floats in one of the dwarf galaxies that orbit this one. My name is Methus. I’m ‘hanging around’ because I was told this was where you would land—and someone has had their eye on you for a while.”
A quick scan of his red eyes up and down the young woman told him that much of Inna’s knowledge seemed to line up: her clothes were dirtied and tattered all over. Small slits in her shirt revealed some of the skin below and, although he didn’t fully believe it, he could see the signs of brown fur wrapped around the Saiyan tail. Apparently, this species really did share quite a bit of history with its primate ancestors.
Truly, she seemed every bit the outcast, lost and adrift in life, not sure what to do. From what Inna told him, despite her considerable power—and he could feel it from here—she struggled just to get by. No one had yet to realize her real value, or what else she could begin to achieve if she was put towards a cause that gave her a sense of belonging and importance. Already, Methus could see some of the potential that Inna insisted dwelled within her, if only someone could draw it out.
More and more, he wanted to see the full scale of the mountain he only partially grasped.
“I’m sure that’s just added more questions than it answered, didn’t it?” Methus laughed a little bit as he thought about how he answered Yacha’s questions. “Let me skip ahead for you: You’ve been a subject of interest for a being called a ‘Kai,’ the closest thing to omnipotent divinity in this universe. She’s seen quite a bit of your life, apparently. Struggling to get by, working as hard as you can to, as she put it, ‘make ends meet.’ Basic survival, longing for a greater direction in life.”
Methus’s red eyes held Yacha’s for a moment, as if to ask, Is that about right? He had no doubt that he may have missed some details, not perfectly remembered some of Inna’s explanations before he came out to this field, but he felt confident that he captured the core essence of it.
Before she had a chance to nitpick an inaccurate detail, he went on, “If that’s still true, Yacha, I have something to tell you that might just give you that purpose and goal you’ve been longing for. Interested in hearing me out?”

A brief glance was taken towards the weapon that seemed to be stuck in the ground, pointy part hidden from view. Whilst the Saiyan didn't think too much on it, she made a few mental notes in case this individual turned out to be hostile. But until that time came, her attention eventually settled upon the man once again, listening to all that he had to say. From what she could tell at least, he didn't seem to be terrible person- At least, not one that would attack her at the moment, anyways. Her arms remained crossed over her chest, onyx colored eyes focused on Methus. While not super short, the man was still almost a foot taller than the Saiyan youth, so the height distance was definitely noticeable, especially for her. Darn people always looking down on her.
Nothing was said while the man spoke, simply waiting for him to finish up saying whatever he wanted to. While the Saiyan didn't exactly like having to wait for other people to finish speaking, Yacha wasn't going to start any trouble right after landing. A few things they said definitely caught the attention of the Saiyan youth, especially the first bit about him knowing exactly where she was going to land. That was a little weird, but the universe was full of weird of people with weird abilities, or so she heard. "Methus the Phaethon, huh?" A slight tilt of her head followed her words, humming some. Just as was said by the man, plenty more questions filled the young woman's head, ready to spit out a barrage of questions once again. People had been watching her? Whilst Yacha didn't exactly think her life was all the interesting, perhaps these 'Kai' people found some sort of weird enjoyment out of watching other people go about their day to day lives.
Of course, Methus was right on the dot with what he said, a slight nod of her head being given once he was seemingly done speaking. "I ain't too sure why this Kai's been watchin' me, but they must've been pretty bored doin' that. Regardless.. yeah, you're pretty much right about all of that stuff. Only reason I got this pod was 'cause I helped some old dude out a bit- Almost got myself killed doin' it, too." Yacha shakes her head a bit, doing her best to push those thoughts out of her head for the time being. If there was one thing she hated other than people looking down on her, it was those ugly Saibamen- But that was all in the past. Hopefully there weren't any of those little green creatures lingering on this planet.
A purpose was being offered to the teen, though she wasn't entirely sure what the man could have to offer the Saiyan. Was there really any downside to hearing what he had to say? If it wasn't anything that she liked, then she could just walk away, right? It wasn't like anyone could really force her to do anything she didn't want to do- And from what Yacha could tell, while not super weak, Methus was a fair bit weaker than she was. "Yeah, yeah. Go ahead and say what ya' gotta say. If you're gonna offer me some low payin' job, just forget about it now, though. I ain't gonna do nothin' for free, that's for sure." Yacha says, nodding her head some more. While she was indeed now free from the slums that she once inhabited, the Saiyan was still pretty low on cash and fuel for her pod wasn't free or anything like that.

She’s sharp enough, Methus observed. Unlike Inna, her eyes had an analytical nature to them. She seemed to dissect every word he said, weighed it against her goals, and put together a path for herself. Surely: having someone waiting for her at her landing zone, which would have been near impossible to predict normally, caught her attention. She wanted to know more about the people behind that, the people who seemed to have so much accurate information on her. In her shoes, Methus wanted the same things, or he imagined he would.
Already, he saw something worth admiring in her. If nothing else, it seemed Inna knew how to pick people.
“No, I haven’t come here just to offer you some lowly compensated labor agreement,” Methus shook his head but kept a smile all the while. From her perspective, these were the priorities. She needed to focus on getting by day-to-day right now. Like her, when he was closer to her age, he once had similar priorities in his life. “After I arrived in this galaxy, I’ve learned that it’s been torn by war and disunity for a very long time. Apparently, the homeworld of your people, the Saiyans, was invaded rather recently? Some organization called the World Trade Fleet.”
They had spent over a week together and in that amount of time, Inna bombarded Methus with information. He struggled to remember the details, the names, of everything she threw at them. The homeworld of the Saiyans, for instance: He knew they had one, but he couldn’t recall the exact name no matter how hard he tried, in that moment.
Methus lifted a hand and pointed a single finger towards the sky.
“My galaxy, where I come from, has been entirely united by my people,” he explained for her. “Which is why I’m here, talking with someone who I was told has more potential than she realizes. Even now, while I myself am not at full-power, I can tell you’re a more competent fighter than you fully realize – lacking, perhaps, only experience to combine with your power.”
That was an idea he wanted her to kick around for a moment. Inna told him she was rather young, not even into her second decade, and had battle experience to match that. This was another thing that Methus could offer to rectify, something she would realize when he finally laid out the details.
“I want to unify this galaxy, Yacha,” he finally made his intentions clear. “This entire universe, if it’s possible. And I, and my companion Inna, think you could be a vital part of that. Anything material that you’re lacking? We’ll provide. In fact, later today, we’ll be acquiring a truly immense starship, to begin to recruit the other promising individuals that Inna has found with her divine sight.”
An adventure through the stars with the aim to bring the entire galaxy together. It would be dangerous, frought with risk, battle, loss, and victory alike. Methus gambled that her desire for something real in her life would compel her down an offer that seemed to have divine providence to back it up. The more pessimistic side of her saw her take a different path, realize that she would rather her more mundane life, and instead return home to go back to a more quiet, simple life. Truth be told, after his experiences here so far, he would never blame her for that choice.
“I won’t begin to waste your time with the idea that it’ll be a simple or safe affair, obviously not,” he said before she had the chance. “But your every material need and desire will be provided for, and I can promise you this, too: under that kind of heat and pressure, you’ll become far, far more powerful than you ever thought you could have.”

Though this individual had pretty much popped up out of nowhere here to meet her, the teen couldn't help but be a little interested in hearing what he had to say- Especially after hearing that there was potentially something she could take part in. It wasn't every day that something like this came around, after all. Having a Kai watching over her and taking interest in her was pretty cool. It was something that she didn't think most people could say. But then again, this was really her first time ever even hearing much about any of those beings. While the young woman had some more questions, those would be stored away to be asked in a bit. For now however, the Saiyan youth just stood back, letting the man say his part, listening carefully to whatever words were spat her way.
Thankfully, it didn't seem like he wanted to use her strength for free. An audible phew leaves Yacha upon hearing that bit, though the young woman continued to refrain from speaking at that very moment. The topic of Vegeta's invasion was brought up, prompting a slight nod from the Saiyan. While she really hadn't done much to stop it or even witness it's invasion, Yacha had heard stories and the like from her parents. That didn't matter to her too much now, though. "Yeah, those guys took over for a bit- But the Saiyans weren't just gonna let them have our home world and we eventually got it back from 'em. Wish I coulda' been there to help out. Wasn't nowhere near strong enough to do anything at the time, sadly." A shrug finished what she had to say, eyes wandering around the area for a moment or two, eventually reaching directly above. She was looking in the direction that Vegeta might've been in. Probably wasn't the right way though. Was there anybody that would've been able to tell exactly which way their home world was just by looking at the sky? Probably not, but oh well. A soft sigh leaves her, her thoughts shifting to her parents. Now, the young woman was starting to regret not leaving them a letter or anything. She'd just have to make sure that she didn't die so she could return to them in one piece- Not that they'd actually care much, either way.
Yacha let her attention shift back towards Methus once again as he spoke. One galaxy united by just a single race? They must've been some really extraordinary people. Not to mention, they probably had some pretty strong fighters over there.- Though her thoughts didn't remain on that much, a brow being raised as the man spoke of untapped potential the young woman apparently had. Did they have her confused with somebody else? She was a low-class Saiyan, one who wasn't really expected to amount to much. While her power level may have been slightly above average, in her opinion, she wasn't anywhere near being on par with your typical elite Saiyan. But that's the whole reason she wanted to become stronger and wealthier, in the first place. Maybe there was someway that she might've been able to surpass even some of the elite Saiyans out there.
"So.. you really think that y'all can unite an entire galaxy? I ain't tryin' to tell ya' that ya' can't, but there's some pretty strong people out there, y'know? Hell, until about a year ago, I couldn't even fight a Saibamen on my own.- And those're probably the weakest things on Vegeta, save for some of the animals and the younger Saiyans!" Yacha nods her head some, blinking a bit afterwards. She clears her throat, not wanting to get off track, speaking up again. "Now, if you're gonna be givin' me free stuff.. then I guess I could lend you my strength for a little while. Until I get bored, at least." A smirk spreads across her face as she continues. "Sometimes.. ya' gotta do some risky stuff to get anywhere in life. So I ain't really worried about that or nothin'. If we run into trouble, we'll just have to give it our best and hope our enemy hasn't been trainin' as hard as us."
"If we fail, we die." Yacha says, rather casually, accompanied by a shrug of her shoulders. Onyx eyes fix themselves on Methus, nodding her head once. "But either way, you can count me in- For now. And, uh.. if possible, I could probably use some newer clothes. The bigger, more important stuff can come later, I guess." For a brief moment, the Saiyan's eyes shift down to her torn and stained clothing, a slight frown spreading across her face. A warrior didn't really need super extravagant clothes, but a set of armor like most other Saiyans wore sure would've been nice- Might have been kind of useful, as well. That could probably be put under the list of "important stuff", however. A bath or shower could probably be nice too, but Yacha would take care of that some other time once all of this was settled. One last question was asked. "By the way, where is this 'Kai' you were talkin' about, anyway?"

Even Methus admitted how intriguing the situation looked from her end. If someone showed up to him, demonstrating knowledge that they could not possibly have under normal circumstances, and claimed that a sort of divine fate brought them together? He probably would have believed them. Extraordinary claims required extraordinary evidence and doing the nigh-impossible, given the context of the situation, certainly qualified as extraordinary evidence.’
The ‘we’ that escaped her lips proved promising, too. Although she qualified her agreement—enough, on its own, to keep a smile on his face—with the idea that she could decide to leave at any point, the way her thoughts moved certainly bode well. Methus nodded a few times.
“I’ve never worked on a system of oaths and obligations,” he explained for her. “I operate on merit alone. Fight with me because you want to, because you think it’s the best thing for you to do. It’s my job, no one else’s, to make sure you continue to see it as the best path for your life.”
Back on Phaethon, that always turned out to be easy enough. For his people, fighting alongside a promising ruler, or rebel, almost certainly guaranteed them survival and the chance to have children of their own that would pass on their lineage and goals. Anything that supported that process was more than good enough to fight for. The other species in his galaxy and, no doubt, in this one as well, seemed more complicated than that.
Which left just one outstanding question: Where exactly was that god he just mentioned?
“Rest assured, you’ll meet Inna very soon,” Methus reassured her. “She’s not just some metaphor I’ve imagined. A bit shorter than you, longer hair, a face, lips, two arms, two legs. She’s flesh and blood, just like the two of us, despite the incredible powers she has, given her nature. You’ll meet her once you’re aboard our new vessel.”
Which left the other big, unanswered question in the room.
“As for that?” He went on, then gestured for them both to sit. He took his place back in the grass, legs crossed with one another. Once he did, he felt a single bead of sweat roll down his bare back. The top of his battlesuit still remained long-destroyed, and the tight, blue cloth still clung to his legs, with tears, gashes, and dark red stains across it. “I could use some new clothes as well. I’m sure we’ll find quite a bit aboard the starship, as its crewed almost entirely by ‘Humans,’ and Inna’s told me they’re anatomically similar to the two of us. We’ll pick up more, and whatever else we need, after we get off this barren rock of a world. You’ll have your own quarters, as well.”
The basics, things that Yacha prioritized above all else. He understood that mindset, too: when he was at a lower point, before anyone dared call him “Emperor” of anything, those were his priorities. Where to get his next meal, if the princesses would feed him, if they would bother getting him new clothes or if they would just cut out the middleman entirely.
“Besides,” he added with a glance down his bare chest and towards the ruined half of his former battlesuit. “I need a change of attire myself. It’s been one fight after another since I’ve gotten to this galaxy.”
Stories for another time, he decided. With that in mind, Methus realized that there was something about her words, and her implied history, that stuck out to him.
“But, tell me, Yacha,” he chimed right back in. “You act like, despite your strength, you’ve been taken advantage of quite a bit by others looking to use you, with no concern for your own benefit in those situations? My people would never tolerate being treated in such a way, it’s simply not in our nature, so that’s an alien thought to me. Have you had to deal with that often, in your life so far?”

Well, it seemed as though this trip off of Vegeta had turned out to be rather interesting. She had just landed and the Saiyan woman was already being recruited into some sort of organization. While Yacha didn't exactly care too much about uniting the galaxy and all of that mumbo jumbo, it wouldn't hurt to help out some people and get stronger along the way. If she was going to be wandering around, might as well do it with some other people, right? There'd probably be a few opportunities to earn some cash while out on the road and whatnot, anyhow. Hopefully things would end up turning out well for the group of people. Seeing as things had seemingly been calming down, the youth uncrosses her arms and proceeds to take a seat atop her pod.
A slight nod or two were given as Methus continued to speak away, listening to whatever it was he wanted to say. At least he didn't seem to be one of those types who were kind of forcing people to join their ranks. The way he went about this whole thing alone made her feel pretty good about joining. "Yeah, yeah. I'll follow you until I get bored. Or die. Or you die. Or we all die. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how things play out from here, huh?" Yacha shrugs her shoulders some, hands resting on her lap, legs dangling over one side of the space pod. While the Saiyan woman never really expected to be following some random person she had never met before- much less somebody who wasn't even a Saiyan in the first place- it didn't seem like things would go bad with these guys. And if there was a Kai out and about, helping them with their quest to unify the galaxy, then they should've been golden.
Methus went ahead and told her more about their current plans, meeting up with this Kai person once they had some ship. While he seemed to take a seat on the grass, the Saiyan remained seated atop the pod.- It made her feel a little better, getting to look down on somebody and talk for a change. A quick look over the man's blood stained pants invoked a light, momentary hum from the young woman. Had they just been through a fight of some sort? While she was somewhat tempted to ask about it, Yacha opted to refrain from doing so for the time being. "Well.. it's good that ya' ain't goin' crazy or nothin'.- Unless she ain't really on board this ship thing and yer' just tryin' to lure me into some trap." Some more humming leaves her, a hand coming up to rub her chin for a moment, words following a few seconds after. "Nah, I ain't think ya'd do somethin' like that. Probably wouldn't be too smart, anyway. Wait.. y'all do actually got this space ship thing already, right?" Yacha questions, unsure if they had already gotten the ship or if they were in the process of doing so. Either way, the promise of having her own room and some free clothes sure was music to her ears.
Of course, Yacha still had a plethora of questions she would've shot out- But answering the questions Methus had would come before all of that. "Mmm.. taken advantage of? I'unno, I guess ya' could say that. As long as I got fend and all of that stuff, then I didn't really care that much what happened. While living in my parents' house wasn't exactly ideal or nothin', it wasn't bad or anythin'. Now that I'm older, though.." She pauses for a moment, humming in thought for a couple of seconds. Sure, living off scraps and the like wasn't really the greatest, but at least it was enough to get by. Stealing, fighting, doing small tasks for people at least got her enough to get by. Now, though? "I ain't think I can really continue livin' like that. That's kinda' why I'm here now, even- To get away from that life and try to make a name for myself. And, thanks to some wild luck, it seems that chance has managed to show up rather quickly. Got some housing headin' my way, clothes, and.. uh.. y'all are gonna have some food on board, too, I assume."
"People just care about themselves, for the most part. Now, I probably wont have to deal with any of 'em again." A few nods follow what she had to say, eyes shutting for a brief moment. "And if I do 'appen to run into anyone that tries to take advantage of me, I'll just tell 'em to shoo, or I'll beat 'em up and throw 'em in a trash can or somethin' like that." Eyes settle on Methus again. "I ain't sure what your home world's like, but it must've been pretty nice if ya' ain't ever really get taken advantage of. Just keep on makin' sure nobody tries to take advantage of ya', I guess."

His homeworld was nice? He never expected her to make that kind of mistaken assumption, but the more he thought about it, the more it made sense. She assumed that he came from a rather good-natured people who were above the exploitation of others. That was a pleasant fantasy, one that none of his people managed to have until they saw how some of the other races in Impus lived. Compared to theirs, every other habitable world looked like an immaculate garden quite literally designed for life to flourish in all its beautiful forms.
Then, on the complete opposite side of his world, rested Phaethon.
“Far from it, actually,” Methus chuckled at the idea. The more he thought about it, the funnier it got. He shook his head and continued, “My world is, compared to every other I’ve been to, a death trap. Unstable plate tectonics create city-destroying earth quakes, wrap the planet in volcanic dust, give rise to species that need to devour each other to survive a harsh and shifting environment. If Hell—which, I’m told, is a real thing—were half fire, half ice, and filled with nigh-immortal monsters that want you dead at all times, that is Phaethon.
“Compared to all the others I’ve seen, how my species still yet lives is a grand mystery.”
Methus waved his hand, stopping himself short, and pivoted the subject of the conversation, “But, that’s not what you asked. It is, however, why my people can’t afford underhanded tactics like ‘taking advantage’ of someone. Either you serve as a slave to those better equipped to survive, be one of those people yourself, or perish. No one has the time or energy to be deceptive and tricky about things. Anything else would be seen as wasteful.”
Another idea they had to learn from other races. Phaethonians were certainly capable of deceit, but rarely had the chance to practice it. When even, modern cities could be overrun with animals fleeing a forest swallowed by a sinkhole and decide to feast on the hundreds of thousands within? You either ruled that land, lived in it and fought for your life, or were already one of the monsters. Direct, raw power mattered more than anything else.
Without it, you didn’t get a chance to worry about the rest.
“As for the starship?” He pivoted again, this time to a much more pleasant topic of conversation. “The vessel is currently in a space dock, quite a ways from here. We’ll be commandeering it in a matter of hours, and arrive here to pick you up. Ironically, we’ll be heading back to Vegeta, to pick up another of your kind.”
That particular choice of words came from a place of ignorance rather than disrespect. For some reason, in that moment, Methus simply could not recall the name of her race. He said it mere minutes ago, it was right on the tip of his tongue, but his brain couldn’t quite put it together.
He decided to wait for it to come back on its own.
“A young woman; a couple years older than you, in fact,” He added. “Inna will tell you more about her. But, of course, before you think it: If we don’t show up, you can go about your business like we never existed. It’ll be that simple for you—no risk, not until I have something material to show for all of my words.”
In hindsight, even he would have been suspicious of a man with tattered clothes, stains of blood, yammering on about supposed gods looking down on them. As far as Methus knew, these ‘Kai’ were not universally accepted beings. Yacha, this—whatever her race was, again—woman would not necessarily have any idea what they were. None of her people might have heard of these ‘Kai,’ as far as Methus knew.
“Oh, and, yes,” he added once more, with a small smile. For all the regenerative properties of his species, eating a lot was almost a requirement. “There’ll be food. I can promise you that I’m more excited for that than even you are, Yacha.”

A few sets of blinks come from the Saiyan woman upon hearing what Methus had to say about his home world. Maybe it wasn't as great as the youth thought it was- But still, she figured if the world wasn't that great, then the people must've at least been pretty well off. Maybe that was why his race had decided to unify their galaxy and whatnot. She sure wouldn't have wanted to live on a planet that was damn near impossible to live on. It didn't even sound like she would've been able to get a whole lot of sleep on a place like that!- And if there was one thing she liked having more than food, it was her sleep. There was no way she'd get stronger if she didn't get a good amount of sleep every day, after all. "Huh.. I take that back, then. Sounds like a terrible place to live." A slight shrug follows her words.
While she didn't really think that she'd ever end up meeting anyone else of the man's kind, it was still nice to learn about other people and the places they came from. If they had to deal with that kind of stuff on the daily, then they had to be pretty strong. While Yacha did have some more things to ask, she opted to refrain from asking any further questions on the topic of Methus' kind and the place he came from for the time being, figured it might've been better to learn more about that stuff after they had gotten all of this stuff sorted out. Thus, their conversation shifted over towards the ship and their future plans once more, the Saiyan woman offering a nod or two in response to what he had to say.
"Ah, y'all ain't got it yet. Weeeeeell.. As long as ya' can get it soon, things should be fine. As much as I ain't really mind it, if possible I'd rather not have to sleep on the ground- Especially not after ridin' in that dang pod for so long. A bed would be nice." Yacha says, nodding her head all the while. It was quite a long ride from Vegeta to the unfamiliar planet, getting to stretch like this was quite nice. Sure, there were a few stops along the way, but just getting to breath in the fresh air of the planet and get to walk around with having to worry about some random alien bumping into her was pretty great. And while getting right back in a ship only to go right back the way she came wasn't exactly nice to hear, it was fine with her, really. If she didn't go there with them, then she probably would've just wandered around aimlessly for a while. "I'll be here then, probably. Ain't like I really got anywhere else to go right now, anyhow. I'm assumin' that Kai person will be able to tell us where to find this Saiyan then, right?"
A few thoughts popped into her head about this new Saiyan that'd be accompanying them on their adventures. It'd be nice to have another one of her kind tagging along. If they just so happened to both get caught under a full moon, though.. things probably wouldn't end up turning out well for the group.- Unless this new one had control over their giant ape form, in which case things might've been fine. "Do ya' know what this other Saiyan's name is? Or what they look like? Or, uh.. how strong they are!?" Yacha spits out a few questions, eyes fixed on her conversation partner in hopes that they would know at least the answer to that last question she asked. "And if ya' don't happen to come back, yeah. I'll just find somethin' else to do, I guess. But I'm kinda' lookin' forward to gettin' some free stuff, so.. Try not to take too long with gettin' that god dang ship."
"Ain't had a good meal in a bit, so I hope there's some good stuff on board." Just thinking about all the food that could've potentially been aboard the spacecraft was enough to make her mouth start watering just a tad, a slight grin spreading across her face. "Ya' can think your lookin' forward to it more all ya' want. We'll see who eats more when the time comes, yeah!"

“That thing?” Methus nodded towards the pod that she sat atop of. He tried to imagine himself curled up in something like that. The more he did, the more he felt himself getting stiff, even just sitting there in the grass like he did. “I’d have to eat my knees if I wanted to manage that. We’ll put it in the small hangar this ship has and not use it unless we absolutely need to.”
After the crash-landing on this planet, Methus convinced himself that he would need to trudge through space in a tin can before he could fly in comfort once more. Now, with the arrival of Inna, so many doors were open. Because of her, he sat here, chatting away with a shockingly powerful young woman, a member of his warrior species known as the Saiyans. Yet another thing only made possible because of the mystic powers of some ethereal, bright-haired woman he only met a little over a week ago.
The Saiyans themselves quickly became a greater fascination for him. Like his people, they were fighters, yet for entirely different reasons. His people fought for survival, out of desperation, it rooted itself deep into their very genetics and basest instincts. Ultraviolence permeated everything about them. Saiyans, on the other hand, seemed to lack that visceral tendency to kill anything that even remotely threatened them, the way all life on Phaethon did. Their motivations were different.
Part of him wanted to see how that manifested in Yacha, if at all.
“As for this other woman? Inna didn’t mention a name, she tends to forget those details,” Methus answered. When he remembered talking to Inna about Yacha, it wasn’t until just a day ago that Inna finally realized she needed to tell him the name of this woman, if his story of divine observation were to be even slightly believable. “Apparently, she was off training in wastelands of the…”
His voice trailed off when he realized he forgot the name of the place on their planet this young woman went. He felt himself pause, his mind ticked again and again, yet nothing popped out.
“Sayba?” Until, suddenly, something did. “I’m probably pronouncing that incorrectly, but that region of your world. Other than that? Apparently she’s short, compared to me, but most people in this galaxy seem to be. Dark hair and matching eyes, like yourself. Has a tendency towards something Inna referred to as “tank tops,” a type of clothing.”
None of it super helpful but, no doubt, Inna would fill Yacha in on some of the details shortly after the Saiyan girl came aboard with them.
Which left just one very important comment outstanding. Methus noticed on the grin spread across her lips and let one of his one answer her.
“Wait, are you challenging me, girl?” Methus laughed when she dared him to see who could actually put more down. “My people have never met a species who could keep up with the demands of our metabolism. You’re making a pretty big leap, thinking you have any chance of keeping up.”
Methus looked around at the flat grasslands around the two of them, “I’ve been here two weeks, mostly spent by the coast and away from these expanses of empty grass. I must have eaten half the fish in this ocean already, just to recover from my crash landing and when that other Kai assaulted us. If you manage to out-eat me, I’ll owe you something for the accomplish.”

Her little space pod was getting stored on a bigger vessel? Neat. She sure didn't haven't any sort of complaints with that, as noted by a nod or two the young Saiyan gives the man after he finishes speaking about that bit. "Well.. yeah. I didn't think it was gonna be too bad to spend time in until I was in it for like five hours. Then I started gettin' a little antsy. Thankfully, I didn't have to go anywhere outside of this galaxy to get over here. Probably woulda' gone insane if that was the case. Ain't help that this was my first time ridin' in one of these things, either." Yacha says, finishing her sentence with a slight shrug of sorts. It wasn't like she had much of a choice on her method of transportation, anyhow. It was either stick with it, or get stuck on Vegeta for a while longer- And if she had stuck with the latter, the young woman might not have ended up bumping into Methus and this Kai person she had heard so much about, but hadn't actually seen just yet. That'd soon change, hopefully.
"This Inna person doesn't sound all too great when it comes to giving certain details- Or maybe she did tell you and you just don't remember." A hand comes up to lightly rub her chin after she says that last bit, a light hum leaving her in thought. Her mind wouldn't linger on that for long, instead opting to shift her attention back onto the focus of this Saiyan that might have been joining them rather soon. From what Methus said, it at least seemed as though this woman had to be at least decently strong, given they were supposedly off training in the Saiba wastes. Yacha knew from experience that that wasn't exactly the greatest place for somebody to be hanging around on their own. "But I guess we'll learn more about this person sooner or later. Ain't too important what their name is or nothin', so long as their trainin' and stuff. The Saiba wastes ain't exactly the hottest vacation spot on planet Vegeta."
While the topic of their conversation shifted back towards food, Yacha could just feel her mouth watering a little more. A foreign planet just had to be filled with all sorts of delicious food that she hadn't even seen before. It was hard not to get excited over the idea of it- Then again, Yacha found just your typical slab of meat to be pretty good most of the time, so it wasn't like there was anyway for her to get upset over anything she might've gotten the chance to eat while on Namek. The Saiyan woman scoffs at what the man had to say. "I ain't sayin' ya' can't your fair share of food, but.. beatin' me in a food eatin' competition would probably just be a waste of time for you." Several nods accompany what Yacha had to say, arms folding over her chest again. "Eatin' half this planet's fish population is, uh.. pretty impressive though. Maybe we can see just who's got the bigger stomach once we're aboard this fancy ship of yours. Us Saiyans ain't only good at fightin' and the like, but we can definitely keep up with even the biggest eaters out there. After all, we gotta' make sure we've got the energy for any sorta' fightin' or trainin' we gotta go through."
Yacha clears her throat a bit, again finding her words taking her away from topics that were probably considered rather important. While she didn't really mind sitting out here and whatnot, the sooner they had this ship thing in their possession and everything was set so they could continue on with their mission of uniting the galaxy and whatnot, then they could worry about dumb food eating competitions and things of that sort.- Not that she wasn't going to eat to her heart's content when they had gotten this ship, though. That was still most definitely going to happen. "Anyways! If you want to, you're free to go meet up with this Kai person and get this ship capturing thing underway. I'll be here- Unless you guys need help, that is. If ya' need me to try gettin' somethin' myself or helpin' ya' get the ship, I'd be more than happy to lend my skills to you. As long as I'm careful, then I'm sure I'd be able to refrain from gettin' in any sorta' trouble."

Are Saiyans always this damn literal? Methus wondered, privately, when Yacha completely misunderstood him. It was cute, in a way, that she seemed to take what he said at face-value. Did that speak to her being particularly trusting, a quirky difference in their speaking habits, or language simply not being an area her species excelled in? Or maybe all three, or none at all? Not that it mattered—Methus smiled all the same.
“That might have been an exaggeration,” Methus clarified for her regardless and laughed as he did. “But, look around you. There’s hardly anything here that isn’t seafood.”
A fact that Methus aimed to rectify before the end of the day.
He took Yacha’s words as the cue they were an rose to his feet. His dusted the grass off his back and opened a single hand that he pointed at this spear. The red weapon rattled, still stabbed into the dirt, as a red glow enveloped Methus’ palm. Then, with a sudden snap, it jumped back into his hand and his fingers closed around it. Red energy rolled off him, from between the digits, and he turned to Yacha atop her pod.
It really did seem barely large enough to hold her.
“The vessel won’t be a problem,” he promised Yacha. “Save your energy for everything that will follow, Yacha. If you’re truly going to fight alongside me to conquer this galaxy and unite it under a single banner? We’re going to have far more pressing matters to worry ourselves with. Seemingly insignificant warriors on a planet called Zoon gave me trouble. There’s a long way for us to go.”
With those words, he looked down to the spear in his hands. He gripped it a bit more tightly and felt his muscles flex, felt the way his Battle Power surged through his veins and soul alike. Whatever the cause—maybe the hope, or maybe just the battles—he felt himself growing, on the precipice of breaking free from the shell that held him back for his entire life in Eaus.
Yacha herself already seemed to stand on the other side. By the way things felt, every part of him, he teetered on the same edge she already threw herself over.
He envied that she was already there, despite her age.
Around his feet, the grass begin to whip as concentric circles burst gently from his body. The wind whipped at the blue blades and tore some from the soft soil of the planes as a faint, crimson glow surrounded his entire body. Slowly, it lifted him into the air, higher and higher until he even floated above Yacha’s pod.
“Occupy yourself for just a couple of hours, Yacha the Saiyan,” he asked this last thing of her. “Inna and I will be by shortly. Trust me, you won’t be able to miss it.”
Using that as the closing note between them, a red glow erupted around Methus, brighter and stronger than he ever remembered. A shockwave followed as he used his energy to hurl himself into the sky, spear in-hand, back towards the hidden space dock that his Kai guide told him about. A trail of red floated behind him, leading back to Yacha, but slowly evaporated into nothing.
As much as every fiber in his being told him to be skeptical of Inna’s knowledge of this girl, and her own willingness to join a galaxy-conquering army, he wanted to believe—to believe that, maybe, she represented the first of many more to come.

A few blinks were given in response to what Methus had to say, eyes slowly beginning to travel across the open space. An exaggeration? It seemed as though Yacha geniuenly thought that the man had eaten half of this world's available fish- Though, she wasn't going to admit that or anything. A hand comes up to scratch at the back of her head for a moment or two. After just a look around the place, it was clear that eating so much fish from this place wasn't exactly something that just anyone could decide to do. There was a ton of water here that those fish could be swimming around in. Though, she wasn't about to let her attention be swept away by the thought of those delicious little critters, instead letting her eyes shift back towards Methus once again, seeing as though he was rising up to his feet.
The rattling of his weapon was noted, Yacha arching a brow at the strange phenomenon before it seemingly hopped right into the man's hands. Did all foreigners have weird tricks like these? Some light chin rubbing ensues, the Saiyan youth releasing a light hum in thought, before giving a quick shrug and letting her thoughts float off into the back of her head. A nod or two was given towards Methus, noting that he was seemingly about to take off. "Alrighty. I'll be around here whenever you guys decide to show up. Might be tryin' to hunt for food or somethin', but I'll be around." Yacha says, hopping off of the space pod for the time being. "Probably ain't gonna be doin' much to burn off energy, so.. yeah. Ya' ain't gotta worry too much about that. I'unno where this Zoon place is, but they must've been pretty strong if ya' couldn't beat 'em. Or maybe it was 'cause ya' were tryin' to beat 'em alone. Are we gonna be goin' there at all?"
Eyes remained fixed on the man, watching as he seemingly began to float up into the air, the Saiyan woman tilting her head a bit. Was he not just going to walk to wherever this ship was at? It must've been pretty far away, if he needed to fly- But then again, running to wherever you needed to go was a pretty nice way to stay in shape! It wasn't going to make anyone super strong, but it sure beat floating around the world as long as you didn't mind having to wait a pretty long time before reaching your destination. Growing up on Vegeta as a low-class Saiyan led the young woman to search for whatever training methods worked well enough for her. Fighting the wildlife, running around, and even her rounds pick pocketing helped her out quite a bit. Now that Yacha had something to strive for, other than becoming stronger to hopefully break away from being labeled as a low-class, there was a reason for her to train even harder. Tough enemies were likely to show up during their travels and it was going to be up to them to beat them up so they could continue on with their goals.
A slight grin spreads across her face as Methus speaks his final bit, a hand raising up to offer him a quick departing wave. "See ya' soon, Methus! Make sure not to accidentally beat up the ship or nothin'!" The Saiyan woman shouts at the man, the shockwave following his burst into the air blowing her hair in all sorts of directions. Good thing her hair was never really in the best shape, otherwise Yacha might've gotten a little upset over that. But for now at least, it was time to keep herself busy before the man and the Kai arrived to pick her up in whatever sort of space traveling vessel they had decided to fly them around in. Her eyes wander about for a bit, trying to decide on what she wanted to do. She could travel and try to meet up with some of these Namekian folk, or just stick around here and do whatever sort of training she could think of. There was a little tree nearby the woman could punch at for a while. Or maybe she'd just try to find something to eat- Those fish that inhabited this planet were starting to sounds pretty good right about now.
