Synthesia winced slightly as he heard the distant splash.
Just then, he doubted his plan, juuuust a little bit. He furrowed his eyebrows up at the redhead. He then looked over at his vines. He had to admit, her offer was a little bit more reliable. He fastened the vine to the stone once more, as if to prove a point then turned towards the redhead. Though he'd never admit it, he wasn't exactly ecstatic about jumping down a pit with only a rock to support him. This was probably better, right? He convinced himself before hiis dainty hand met with hers, and he smiled coyly at her "W-Well, I c-could get down myself, y'know, the vine still woooooOOOOO-"
He didn't get to finish his ramblings as the demon tucked him against her side and leaped down the hole. Synthesia, being a creature of the ground, didn't have all to much affinity for falling through the air. He hammered his eyes shut as the upwind launched his green hair into thin tendrils all over the place. Why did he choose to explore, again? Was he going to die here, in this cave? He at least wanted to become nutrients for some plants in death!
His slight yell continued for a few moments after he hit the ground, eyes still shut, hair still unkempt. As soon as he noticed the lack of motion, though, his hands shot to his body and face to assure himself that he was still alive. Breathing a sigh of relief, he flipped his hair back, cleared his throat, and hoped that the two women would forget about his shameful act momentarily.
The best way to do so was to change the subject, right? He could do that. "S-So, while we're down here, let me know if you see any glowing plants, alright?" While it was a diversion, it was nonetheless a true one. "There's species of flower known as Lampenflora down in these caves. Get me one, I'll adapt my roots to it, and we'll get some light." Synthesia explained his thoughts to the ones present in the cave.
Speaking of his roots reminded him on the one that still latched onto his back. He was glad they held on, even at this distance. As he heard a splash nearby, he gave the rope three tugs, a signal to Katz that it was safe.

One by one Katz watched the people of the exploration group disappear from his sight and into the hole in the ground. Not too long after Mal's descent Katz can hear some thumping and rock breaking before the sounds of water splashing can be heard. He sure had hoped that nothing bad happened to Mal, after all it seems that she had bumped into rocks on her way down. After that the red haired girl named Belladona jumped down, he could heard the plant boy voice, the girl had definitely did something to that plant boy. While Katz is still belwidered, it seems that Date is also following them, and he told Katz to use the rope if he cannot fly down, and with that he disappeared into the hole. Not long after that the tugging that is promised by Syn comes, he tugged it 3 times that means it's safe down there.
"Well, now this is what I call an adventure!" without hesistation Katz had jumped straight into the hole, following the others. He descended quickly towads the bottom of the pit, but it seems that he had been too quick in his descent and with the dark condition Katz can't exactly see how far is it until he reach the bottom. And then Katz spectacularly crashed into the water. At first it seems that he had sunk, but not long after that Katz figure can be seen coming up from the water.
"Gaaaahhh! COOOLLLLD!" Katz who had been on the freezing area with only ordinary clothing, now he had submerged himself into the cold water, and it feels like he's freezing to the bone. While shivering he looked around to find the figures of the others that had come down here before him, and strangely he could not find them. After some walking Katz had stumbled upon a light source, thinking that the others might be also searching for the light source, Katz walked towards the source of light while hugging himself and shivering. When he arrived there, he only find a bunch of plants that is glowing and nobody else. "Wow, so there's a plant that can produce light too?" Katz is amazed at the sight before him, but the problem still stands, he still did not find anyone in this pitch black cave.
"I guess I need to look around then, It would be bad to make the others worry about me." Katz picked one of the glowing plants then he proceeds to entered the cold water once more with the glowing plant in his hand as his light source, he continues his search for the others. |

Mal watched from the water as first Bella came down, followed by the rest in short order. “Sorry,” she said, “Not used to the company.” Which meant, of course, she usually explored in that fashion alone or with like-minded people that didn’t mind the nonexistent warnings. With Bella arrived the screaming Synthesia, which might sound like a neat drink, come to think of it. But that was neither here nor there, and Mal didn’t really blame him at all. Spelunking wasn’t for everyone, and he got brownie points for making it this far, in her book.
“Glowy rock things, huh?” she knew exactly what he was talking about, but as Mal, she tended to play dumber than she was. Her alter ego, however, could play many roles. But she found if you played dumb enough, people underestimated you and, well, in some regards she was pretty dense. As Date and Katz made their way down, Mal sunk back under the water and kicked toward the opening, that small tunnel. She didn’t go through, though, not yet. Not because she didn’t want to, but because there was a pretty, pink glow drawing her attention at the bottom of the...reservoir? Lake? River? Probably a sublet of the river… Kicking against the floor again, she took note of the passage below. “Rocks like these?” she asked, offering it to Synthesia.
Taking a breath, she let it out slowly. “On the literal bright side, they line the bottom of this underwater tunnel. On the bad side, well...it’s an underwater tunnel and we don’t know how far it goes. Only one way to find out, though. And I bet there are more of the rocks around this cave...might be best to try and grab a few.” At least she was a good swimmer.

Rolling her jaw to try and pop her ear after the noisy descent, Bella looked to the others as they discussed how to go forward and what treasures they might find within these deeper caverns. Personally she had little experience in cave diving or cave exploring in general. That was the appeal of it all, the adventure though. On top of that the experience would grant her insight to any cave rescue that might be needed. Each and ever aspect of life helped build character and she welcomed something new.
However, plant and rock searching aside, she grimaced as Mal explored the opening of the underwater cave. Apparently it was the only way to exit this area despite the tunnel that sat above them. Swimming was fun and she wasn’t afraid to see how far the tunnel might go, but there was one small problem for her. A glance down looked to her white shirt, a color that didn’t mix well with wet conditions. Hmmm.
”Yeah...I am definitely willing to continue, but uhhh...does anyone have an extra shirt or something?” She didn’t really expect anyone to have a second shirt lying around as it was more to show her apprehension about getting in the water. At a bit of an impass for the moment, she looked around the gathered explorers with an almost nervous smile. She didn’t want to come outright and say why, but she assumed the majority of them would understand.
A glance to the rock above the tunnel started her down a different train of though. Perhaps, if she was careful enough, she could melt a way through the stone? It would likely work, but it was sort of an offense against nature wasn’t it? Destroying part of a rock formation that took millennia upon milliennia to form simply for her own dignity, probably not.

"Lampenflora," Date questioned the earnest Syn, "You're gonna need to give us a description. I'm not too versed in Cave flora."
Tori came into the water soon after, screeching at the chill! Date laughed at this, stating aloud, "You ought to be mindful of your breath before jumping into the cold."
After that, Tori got to searching around and from the sounds of it, Mal too. However, instead, she was looking for glowing rocks! The thought of finding glowing rocks, to Date, spelt out radiation. If she did find them, then Date would have red flags showing up. Speaking of red, though, apparently Belladonna hadn't considered her attire, asking for another shirt to wear.
As Date was comfortable shirtless, he pulled out his shirt from the side of his pants that he had dangling from the side. The cold was certainly great, but the Mercenary had swam in worse! He arrived over there and gave Belladonna his black sleeveless shirt.
"Here you go! Don't need to give me it back. Consider it a-"
Mal's words caught Date's attention, alarms going off in the saiyan's head. He looked over to see what exactly she found: A glowing pink rock! He swam over to Mal and Syn to look at the rock. To his relief, though, he recognized the rock as just one of the types of minerals around here. He told Mal, before directing his attention Syn, "Nah, he mentioned a glowing plant. However, if you can use this and make an effective life source, that'd be good..."
Date then started looking around the darkness. He didn't think about it until now, but Tori hadn't been close to them. Date called out, his voice echoing through the area, "Tori? Where you at, little dude?"

Synthesia looked at the glowing rock, his eyebrow cocked, before taking it and throwing it back into the bottom of the cavern.
"Thanks for the... effort, I guess?" Synthesia was fairly certain that 'lampenflora' was a self-explanatory title. Especially the 'flora' part. What could've possibly compelled the woman to give him a rock? His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He stared at the woman before slowly turning his head away. He'd save this memory for later, in case he ever needed to rely on anyone in this group.
It seemed the gruff man didn't know, either. Synthesia let out a sigh. He supposed it was unrealistic for the average joe to just casually know about cave plants. "Well, Lampenflora are basically just... glowing plants. You can't miss 'em. They're pretty, but they can be a problem for other cave plants, like mosses, since they give off light. They can also damage cave paintings... well, whatever. You get the idea." Synthesia stopped himself from going on a tangent. He supposed that his companions probably didn't care all too much about the effect of light on a cave ecosystem.
He huffed to himself. How hard was it to find like-minded individuals?
Shrugging off the thought, his attention was briefly grabbed by the redhead's request. A shirt? Wasn't the one she was wearing just fine? Synthesia shrugged it off. Humans and their fashion, he supposed. He was glad that his outfit was incapable of becoming dirty and he didn't need to worry about the stuff.
His attention was then turned back to the underwater tunnel. Due to his lack of inhalation and exhalation of oxygen, he could probably stay underwater for slightly longer than these folks.
"I'll try and see how far it goes. Be back in a sec!"
He dove headfirst into the shimmering waters.

Katz had been lost for a while since the light in the cave was scarce and the glowing plant in his hand was his only light source. Katz had been travelling the way back before he goes to find the glowing plants, but still no luck in finding the others. Katz only worries now is that they are looking for him right now and if they do that, they will probably miss him since he's been going here and there for a while now. He then stopped for a while to consider his options, first he could go back to the place where he found the glowing plants and wait for help, or he could continue to search around blindly and possibly find them somewhere in this cave?
While Katz is pondering, suddenly an echoing voice come from one direction. It was Date's voice, asking where Katz had been, and it looks like the voice come from the direction Katz was going. It means that Katz had been on the right track, excited that he finally find his companion, Katz answered energetically without thinking. "I'm here Mister Date! I'll be there soon!" with a pretty loud voice Katz shouted those words and his voice is echoing throughout the area. Katz had wanted to go straight towards the direction of Date's voice, but before he could do that he could heard an unpleasant sound. The sound had come from right above Katz's head, and Katz being the curious person he is wanted to know what was making those sounds, and that prove to be a bad decision.
Katz used the glowing plant in his hand to illuminates the area above his head, and that's when he sees a big number of creatures that are sleeping upside down the ceiling above his head. Katz could've sworn that he had read about these creatures before in a book, they are called bats and they sleep at daytime, but they are clearly awake right now. It appears that Katz shouting earlier had disturbed these creatures peaceful sleep and now they are looking at him with an unpleasant gaze. "Uh oh ..." at that moment Katz knew, he screwed up. With a loud sounds the bats are starting to take off from the ceiling and flying straight towards Katz. Katz who did not want to know what those creatures are planning to do with him, dashed away from the big group of flying bats. With the massive swarm of bats chasing him, Katz is running for his life and unconsiously headed towards the place he intended to go earlier, and that's probably where the exploration group is at, so without he himself knowing, Katz had brought another trouble for the group. |

Mal heard rock, so she looked for a rock. Maybe it was the echoes of the cave, or whatever, but part and parcel to life were misunderstandings. And Mal simply misheard the plant guy. Synthesia, she kept reminding herself, bad with names in general. Give her a face, she’ll remember it for life...but names? Mal wasn’t so good at that, it was one of the reasons in large groups she didn’t always bother with introductions.
When Bella asked for a shirt she was about to give her one when the Saiyan dude… Date...offered up his first. At least he and Bella both had their heads on straight. And then Mal realized what Date realized. Katz, the same one winded at the beginning of this and the one who screeched at the cold while jumping into water in the frigid northern mountain range, he’d wandered off.
Great, just great. Keeping her rock clutched in hand, she took a closer look. It didn't look like the rock was glowing on its own from under the water, it looked more like some mossy plant growing on it had its own bio-luminescence. But upon closer inspection, she realized it was the mineral’s natural properties, no help needed from any plant life. Whatever, they could look for their own glowing plants, Mal felt content with this rock. After Synthesia’s further explanation and finally hearing Kat respond, although the cave made her wonder how far he’d gone, she frowned.
But he was okay and headed their way.
“I’m going ahead…” she said, “I’ll swim for about half a minute and if there’s no outlet I’ll turn back.” Wouldn't do for the lot of them to drown here just because they followed her stupid, dense ass. While the water felt cold, she’d be colder if she got out and, when she did, she’d just use her Ki to dry off. That was one of the few things she did know how to do, thankfully. On the one hand, she missed the sound of bats as she ducked under. On the other, well, she had a surprise waiting when she got back, she imagined.

Oh thank goodness.
Not wearing his shirt, Date was kind enough to allow her to have it. Swiftly she slipped into the sleeveless number and although it was a little on the big side, it would do what she needed. For a moment her hands patted it down against her body before she smiled over at him.
”Thanks, I really appreciate it.” Unsure if he heard her, already in a conversation with Synthesia she was grateful non the less.
Whether it was glowing rocks like the one Mal showed off or these lampenflora the plant man hoped to find, she would keep her eyes open. Personally she had no need for them even if the softly glowing rock held its own natural beauty. She did wonder though, did these minerals come in different colors and if they did, was it possible to find a stone with a mixture of them? That might be something she would like to have.
Shirt issue handled, she looked up as Katz voice echoed through the tunnels and into their chamber. Where had he gone to? Perhaps it was her fault for letting him out of her sight. When one considered he was the fellow that drew them all up there, he probably should be watched at all times. As her ears strained that reality became more evident as she heard the collection of screeches that followed his voice.
She knew what animal those sounds belonged to and a glance upward at her red bangs put a single thought in her mind. Not happening. No desire to see one or more of the creatures tangled in her thick locks, Bella chose that moment to drop into the water. A splash announced her decision as she sank below the surface. Eyes open she let herself sink far enough to see Mal’s figure fade as she traveled down the tunnel. Holding her breath she planned to wait both the bats and Mal’s return out...if she could.

Tori's voice sound far off in the cave, as though it'd been deeper in the cave system away from where the group was! How he wandered off without anyone noticing, the Mercenary didn't know. However, what he did know, with the sound of the bat army screeching through the caves afterwards, was the the boy was approaching them! Date called out, "Get into the water! I'll come meet with you!"
The others had taken to diving underwater, going ahead of the group. The saiyan mercenary rose out of the water, unafraid of the bat swarm headed their way. He sped forth, a ki ball in hand producing a large amount of light. Before him, however, was a dark veil that blanketed most of the cave. However, a patch of green and frantic steps caught Date's attention. He shot down out of the swarm, calling out, "Tori! Raise a hand!"
He was going to pick the kid up and dive into the water back where the others were. From the looks of it, he had found the plant that Syn needed, but that didn't matter at this point. Mal told them about the naturally luminescent rocks, so they could just follow the path out of there. Date should be able to follow suit with Tori out of here. He wasn't sure how long they'd been in the cave, but in Date's mind, it'd been long enough with the kid!

Synthesia didn't know what to expect from the watery cave.
He swam deeper down, the illuminated rocks showing him the path forwards. What lay down in these depths? Synthesia was starting to get a little worried. What if the rocks ran out? Then how would he get back? He didn't know. He took turn after turn, well ahead of the two ladies trailing behind him. His dainty limbs moved deftly through the waves.
Gradually, though, Synthesia began to notice something... strange. Somehow, it was getting easier to swim. The current swept him forwards, slightly faster than where he was before. Synthesia's eyebrows furrowed. Current? That didn't make any sense. They were in a cave, after all.
His question was answered when the closed, watery tunnel opened way to a half-tunnel. Synthesia's green head poked up from the water and took a glance around. This cave was filled with the glittering rocks- they shone amongst the black in which they were aligned. More alarmingly, though, was the extremely rapid current now pulling Synthesia towards a waterfall.
Synthesia shrieked.
Thinking fast, he quickly thought of some ways to stop himself from going over. He didn't have any time to tie his roots onto anything, so he couldn't pull himself out directly. He looked around frantically, before deciding on a course of action.
Both of his arms turned into hard wooden sticks. They were t-shaped, and the two mallet-looking ends were sharpened and sinister. Using all his strength, Synthesia plunged his new arms into the wood floor. Thankfully, the natural child held enough power to lodge his makeshift pole into the ground.
There was another pressing question, though-
Now what?

Katz is not sure how long he had been running, but it seems like an eternity. The swarm of bats behind him is persistent on chasing after him, their screeching continue to echoes in the cave. Katz legs is about to give up anytime soon, he was forced to run from the swarm of bats with his foot submerged in the water so it's harder for him to run and more stamina is used, coupled with the cold condition this isn't exactly a good situation for Katz.
The swarm of bats are getting closer to Katz that had started to slow down because he nearly used all of his stamina for running. All seems lost for Katz as those bats are ready to swarm into him. But then a ki blast flew towards the swarm of bats, hitting them and scattering them away from Katz. Dumbfounded by what just happened Katz stared at the scattered bats in awe, only when Date's voice reached him did he snap back into reality.
Katz continued running towards Date's voice while the bats are scattered all over the place by the ki blast earlier. Not long after that Katz sees the figure of Date flying towards him. "Mister Date!" without any further question Katz raised his hand as instructed by Date earlier, and grabbed Date's hand. "Thank you for saving me! I thought I was a goner there!"

She saw Synthesia pull ahead and figured he could take care of himself and when the path split, she took a different route than he did. Better to cover more ground that way, or water, in this case. She technically swam a little longer than planned, but only because there was light ahead from above as the water broke into another cavern. This one was open on top like the inside of a volcano and she wondered where they were. Black rock lined the walls with red, crystal-like veins running through, glinting in the dim sunlight filtering through the open top like fresh blood slick and wet. Mal got a bad feeling about this place, but at least there was another underwater tunnel ahead and looked like it might lead out to safety.
Sinking back down, Mal frowned when she saw Bella in the water, underwater, and holding her breath. Was she already following? It wasn’t just Bella, either, from the looks of things. She didn’t see Synthesia but he’d be back, and if not, they’d find him. The did see Date and Katz in there and pushed herself back up. Taking a deep breath, she noticed the bats and sunk back down. Picking up a rock, she tried to use it to get everyone’s attention, to get them to follow her back to the other cave.
At least in there she didn’t find any bats. She didn’t feel any life, but that was besides the point. The point was that there was a way out and Mal intended on using it. First, though, she hoped finding Synthesia was easy.

Underwater Bella watched as Synthesia shot off after Mal and soon both were out of sight. Whelp...she was going to wait this one out. Above the surface bats screeched and whirled about, a storm of fur and wings that threatened to tangle any hair caught within. Slowly though, gradually they flutter and flapped their way out of the section and by the time Mal returned the majority of them were gone.
The strange thing was, she returned alone. Where was Synthesia? Bella caught sight of Mal’s “signal” rock and began to propel herself through the water. Instead of swimming she utilized her Ki to fly underwater. It conserved oxygen and strength while allowing for optimal control.
Into the tunnel they went and the red head worked her way up alongside the other female. With a tap to her shoulders she did her best attempt at sign language to indicate they should head towards Synthesia’s signature. Hoping that she understood and the two others were aware enough to follow, she shot ahead without realizing Mal’s path was not the same as Synthesia’s a moment ago.
Around a bend and she felt the current grow stronger. A way out perhaps? Excited at the prospect and full of that adventurous spirit the demon cut through the water better than any submarine. Ahead she saw space open up above and broke the surface with a gasp...and then a cry of surprise as she slammed right into an anchored Synthesia. Not expecting him to be locked in place nor the waterfall that laid beyond, there was a good chance the impact would send them both tumbling over if he couldn’t keep them grounded.

"Not a problem! Now hold your breath! We're going in the water!"
Date wouldn't release Tori's hand as they'd plunge back into the cold water! The moment they did, Date would summon a ki orb with his free hand. He released the boy's hand to point at the ki orb, to suggest he was going to be having it out so he could keep track of him and also be able to see where to go.
"We have to get moving. We've had enough adventuring for one day," Date thought in his head, taking a small while looking back to Tori, just to make sure they didn't drift off somewhere they shouldn't be. The pink, glowing stones were leading them where to go, Date pointing at them for Tori to see. The others weren't visible, so they were up ahead.
He swam slow enough for Tori to keep up, but he was aiming to get the kid out of there. Date followed the line of stones, while every so often looked back to make sure they were following. He came to see Mal holding her rock up for them to follow, Bella behind her. The current, meanwhile, appeared to be getting stronger, suggesting that there was an outlet. Date got close enough Mal while looking back to make sure what was going on with Tori before looking at where Bella was going. There was only darkness when she got about 30 feet from them, aside from the luminescent rocks on the ground and one in Mal's hand, as well as Date's ki orb.
"C'wop," Date shouted to Tori, trying to say, 'C'mon,' while waving for him to get along. He close his mouth with the bubble of air. He didn't wanna hold his breath much longer, so he'd go ahead of Mal and Tori, to catch up to Bella and Syn. The orb would give them vision of what he was around him, the top of the rippling water visible! Date would go up to this, breaching for air! A gasp, follow a inhale of the air.
He saw the rocks around them, as well as the increasing current. Ahead, thanks to his light, he could see Syn and Bella in a stronger part of the current with the water ending. He called out to Bella while struggling to fight the current, "Fly yourself out of the water with Syn, Bella!"
Date swam to the side, so he'd not fall into them as he went over the edge. He forced himself out of the waterfall, coming to difficult stop mid air sopping wet! He looked around, seeing they were in another chamber, but an exitway. That relieved the Mercenary, the saiyan looking back up to the waterfall to see try and see the others. Would they be falling down just the same, too?
