'You are weak.'
Misuji Mishima tried to quell that thought, but it rang true in mind. At least he had the weather to distract him.
Night times in the wastelands were downright numbing. The dead air felt more like howling frost than the usual sand-ridden heat of afternoons in the same area. It was always an abrupt shift, one that took more than a hot minute to grow accustomed to.
In truth, he had no practical reason to start a make-shift camp, in the desolate Diablo Desert. The childish pup merely needed a place to lick his wounds, after what had happened in his usual haunt. Within the boundaries of his adopted home, he had been battered and beaten by an assailant whom he hadn't meant the day prior. So the squat, muscular figure decided to take a short sabbatical. He may have just been coming off of a short vacation, but the boy couldn't fight in his current condition. What he needed was bed-rest, but lying down was far too boring for the hyperactive youth. In lieu of self-imposed confinement, he instead took to the freer road, and picked an activity that wouldn't aggravate his injuries as much as his usual routine.
That didn't mean that Misuji didn't have regrets, teeth chattering in the night-time breeze. The lad shivered, as he sat cross-legged by an open fire. His usual light clothing had been replaced by heavy sweats, yet he still felt frigid. A sigh left his lips, as he stared into the open flame. His usual enthusiasm needed mending. In the absence of Myu, or any of his other friends, he longed for conversation with a real sapient being. All he had was the voice in the back of his head, and it was growing rather aggressive.
'You will die a failure.'
He bit his bottom lip at that, canine digging into the flabby flesh. The lad briefly pondered the possibility of another concussion, or perhaps some sort of growing resentment from his own ego. Was he getting lost in his gimmick? Was it just the painkillers speaking for him?

It had taken Bang and Boom weeks to get here. They might have arrived in sooner had Bang not undertaken a few sidequests. Minor distractions but ones that had proven useful. After all, they had helped Bang along his path of self-improvement. How long it had taken to get here didn't matter anymore though. Bang was here now and that was the important thing. His long journey to the Fortuneteller's Desert had come to a close. And he would soon be able to begin the next phase of his quest for revenge. Or that would at least be the case the moment he managed to find the witch. The witch who had locked away his power per his mother's request. She was somewhere within this desert and Bang was definitely going to find her.
The youth and his tiny fox companion began to head deeper into Fortuneteller's Desert. Bang's bright blue orbs kept a look for anything that resembled a house. He was having no luck, however. In fact, the only thing he seemed to be seeing was rocks and wasteland. How far into this place was she located? It couldn't have been too far. His mother had been able to get to her after all. Bang's mother had plenty of strengths sure but an extended trip into the desert wasn't within her wheelhouse. At least as far as Bang knew anyway. He refused to let himself get discouraged though. Even after several hours of walking aimlessly through the wasteland without any sign of a house. His will remained iron and optimism stayed strong.
Boom, on the other hand, was growing hungry and tired of looking. The kitsune let out a growl and Bang looked down towards him. "I know Boom but we're so close...we can't stop now." another growl escaped from the creature. Bang let out a low sigh and in doing so felt his own weariness begin to set in. Perhaps Boom was right. They should take a brief break and eat some food. They could pick back up afterward. The only issue now was finding a decent place to hunker down for a little bit. Despite being a desert it was surprisingly cold out. So they were going to need to start a fire. It was at this moment that Bang's eyes caught sight of a faint orange glow off in the distance. "Huh?" could that be it? Was the house just up ahead?! Bang took off running at full speed, Boom following fast behind him.
Bang came to a sudden and disappointing stop when he arrived at the source of the glow. It wasn't the witch's house but rather someone camping. "Oh..." he spoke sadly, "Sorry to disturb you I thought that you might be someone else." he let out a sigh. They were here now though and he did need a fire. Might as well see if the stranger was willing to share. "Would it be alright if my friend and I join you?" he asked motioning towards the tiny fox at his side. Boom didn't even wait for an answer but walked straight towards the fire. His tiny body collapse next to the flame and taking in its warmth. Misuji Mishima had spotted the figures from afar, looking at both as they approached. Though he was tired, the teen appreciated the incoming company. His thoughts were interrupted by the intermission, and he found himself with enough focus to force a smile. Said beam, however weak it may have been, was pointed at the duo as they arrived. The boy listened to their ordeal quietly, nodding in sympathetic fashion. If anyone understood the pain of being mistaken, it was the portly, young figure. After all, he was the same childish teen that had managed to wind up atop an industrial pyramid in the desert wasted, while searching for a colorful port town.
"Of course, you and your friend are welcome to stay." He offered wearily, yawning a little as he spoke. The lad stretched a little, as he watched the baby fox curl up next to the open flame. He appreciated the heat too. Not only because it reminded him of the contents of his heart, which he desperately needed to overpower his mind, but because the desert was a harsh mistress in the evenings. "What is your name traveler? Why do you come to these wastes?" He asked and stood up. Misuji made his way to his belongings, and pulled out an extra mat. It wasn't exactly a sleeping bag, but it would be warmer than mere sand. It was set in front of the flames, so his current guest could enjoy the roaring fire.
