Pankaa's PL: 500
Before even arriving to this planet the young Avali had been told that if he was good and did as he was told, he'd get to go home. Back to his family, back to his Tribe. So he did as he was told and did his best to please the invader Tribe, not causing a fuss whenever they did things that hurt and not questioning what they were doing with the other young avali's from his Tribe whenever they were taken out before him only to never come back. He was the last little one from his pack left by the time they took him to Earth, tested him quickly in the climate before then fitting him up with a weird body suit. It wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world to wear but at least it stopped the burning feeling he had started to get before when he didn't have it on. Through all of his efforts though he was still a child and still prone to many mistakes, and causing a tear in the tech suit was the only mistake he needed to make to loose out on ever seeing his family again. It all happened pretty quickly but it didn't take long for the young boy to work out they weren't trying to help him nor did they plan on bringing him back. With the heat of the planet seeping through the suit more and more, he let out a pained chirping noise to call for help, but the invaders were already gone. They weren't coming back for him, he'd been abandoned. Not many younglings survived after being separated from their families, but Pankaa didn't want to join that number. Pushing himself up onto all fours he started to look around the area he had been left in, it was dark and there were lots of boxes and stuff in general but he did spot a door. Scampering over to it he tried to reach the handle but it was up too high, jumping in the suit only slowed him more and stole him of his breath moreso. He would flop backwards into a sitting position and stared at the door, wheezing lightly as even more heat made its way into his suit. He needed to eat and he needed to cool down, but how? His eyes were becoming drowsy but he managed to focus enough that the handle of the door began to glow and eventually it creaked open enough for him to squeeze on in through. Now inside, he wasn't quite sure where he had ended up at, it was a smallish room with lots of shelves and they all seemed to be full of bottles. His top set of ears perked lightly, bottles usually meant liquids maybe there was something in here he could use to cool down with! Pankaa heaved himself onto just his hind legs and waddled over to the nearest shelf, trying to get a look at what was in the bottles picking one up even he gave it a shake only to find it wasn't a liquid in it at all but something more powdery, that wouldn't be any good for him so he tossed it aside and began to scale the shelves since there were other kinds of bottles up higher. Using his tail and claws as much as he could to climb while having the suit on still, the young avali struggled to get himself up higher, the next shelf up was even more of the powdery stuff! He continued higher, wheezing more heavily then before now as the heat of the planet started to take its toll, his right side where the gash in his suit was screamed in pain as it had been exposed the longest, but he had to keep pushing. Up, up, up he went until he had reached what he thought was probably the third shelf from the tip top, and sure enough there were some different bottles here! Pushing past the ones that were on this shelf that were the same as the last ones, knocking a few of them off with his tail he eventually took hold of one of the different bottles, shaking it to find it did indeed have some sort of liquid looking substance in it. He'd never seen it before and it moved a lot slower then the liquids he was used to but it was better then nothing. Now to get it open, his small clawed hands weren't much help on the bigger bottle lid, especially while inside the suit, he couldn't gnaw it open either with the helmet on but he didn't know how to get the suit off! Pankaa scrambled and wrestled with the bottle, trying to pull, push and kick the lid off, all the while knocking other sorts of bottles onto the floor and spilling pancake batter all over the floor after they split open. He was so focused on trying to get the one bottle open he almost didn't notice his mess, that alongside being already dizzy from the pain of the planet's heat. Once he did notice however, it gave him an idea. Chucking the bottle off of the shelf along with some more he had planned to jump off after them but ended up clumsily slipping off instead, bonking his head on one of the shelves on the way down which caused a crack in his helmet's glass. The young Avali panted and wheezed, dropping himself to the floor as his vision blurred from all the effort, yet still he tried to scratch and claw his way along the floor to one of the bottles that had popped open from the fall. Dragging himself into a small pool of the liquid-like substance he soon found it wasn't very cool at all, nor was it really a proper liquid, it was sticky and room temperature. He still tried to put some on the spot where he had a gash in his suit but it did little to help. With his head thumping and his body blistering in pain, he squeezed his eyes shut and bunched his claws into little fists, bringing them up to shield his face by resting them on his smashed helmet visor. Not knowing what else he could do to soothe the pain he had he found himself bunching up and beginning to cry on the floor, letting out soft whimpers and chirps of pain. He knew nothing of the planet he'd been left on or about the people on it either. Was help something near? Or forever out of his reach.

|| Nero’s PL: 17 ||
The past week or so had been a tad more exciting for Nero; he had met a few interesting people in various circumstances. For the most part, he regarded those people with some manner of positivity except for one— that jerk that was eyeing up Yanwang’s Fujin Bag with the intent to make off with it despite having the same level understanding of the bag as Nero did, which wasn’t much to begin with— or less, which was what Nero assumed since he didn’t have anything nice to say about that guy.
Despite the added excitement and eventfulness, Nero always had the more normal facets of his life to fall back on; his series of odd jobs. He had gone to every shift on time, and sometimes stayed back for extra pay. Now, he was working on the closing shift at a Punchin’ Pancakes in West City, normally this shift gets incredibly busy in bursts but today was pretty mundane in terms of customers. Once the last people up and left, Nero began the procedure to clean up everything and lock up for the night. Around half an hour into the process, Nero heard a vehicle somewhere outside... It felt odd to him so he kept his wits about him until it up and left, leaving him with the normal sounds of the city once more. “Better not be any weird stuff out there..” He grumbled after double checking everything was sorted out in the storefront and kitchens before heading towards the back rooms— It was here that Nero noticed something was very off.
There was a sound coming from outside in the alleyway, which made Nero proceed slowly and with caution. Moments later, he overheard some sort of fuss happening in the store room just near the corridor to back door. That made no sense, the back door was locked up since before he got here, how did anyone or anything get in? The rustling in there sounded like something small was rummaging around in there. If it was a thief he could handle it and scold them, if it was a wild animal he could take care of that even easier and get it to the local veterinary clinic if it was unhealthy—
What he wasn’t prepared for, was the truth. Nero stepped into the store room to see a tiny little thing writhing in pain on the floor wearing a broken exo-suit— he knew that kind of build, he had seen it a good few times before. That was Avali technology. No doubt a suit built to keep them cool, but this one was busted! Nero wasn’t going to sit by and let this little one bite the dust, so without thinking he moved to scoop up the Avali child despite any form of protest and rush him over to the walk in freezer that was just down the hall and to the left. Wrenching open the door with a free hand. After entering the freezer room he looked around for a portable mini-fridge— anything that he could potentially use to transport them out of here later on.
Nero was so confused as to how the kid even got here. Until it clicked. The sounds of a vehicle from earlier was weird for a reason— whoever was driving it rounded a corner that allowed them to just dump this child in the alley! Momentarily overcome with immense rage, Nero wanted nothing more than to find whoever left the kid behind and beat them into the dirt for being so heartless. There was something more important now, making sure the little Avali survived. ’Whoever did this, they better pray to the Kais that I never find them.. Because if I do..’ Nero shook the violent thoughts out of his head and scoffed, resuming the search for something safe to carry the little one in.

Pankaa's vision was beginning to blur and spin before him as he laid on the floor, both sets of ears were numb and ringing, he heard something but couldn't quite make out what, and trying to see what it was proved to be even more helpless as trying to hear it since his eyes weren't as good as his ears and his vision was nothing but a blur for now. What he did pick up on though was that whatever it was brought a source of light to the room he was in. Wheezing and trying to keep his eyes from fully closing, the young Avali felt himself being picked up by someone. Normally he would've protested to being picked up in a situation like this, but he was far too out of his senses to do much of anything let alone try and put up a fight. He wasn't sure if this person was adding to his problems or helping him but he was about to find out.
Still covered in and no doubt dripping with maple syrup and pancake batter, Pankaa was brought into some sort of different room by the sounds he could still pick up. After a few moments he then seemed to pause, as his breathing relaxed. He'd been brought somewhere colder then the last room, this person was trying to help him! The small Avali let out a pained, but hopeful sounding half chirp, half coo to let Nero know he liked the cold room he'd been brought to, or at least did a little more then the last room.
While Nero searched for something to transport the young one in later on, Pankaa slowly began to gain his senses back and steadily began to stretch out his arms and wings before doing the same with his tail, everything hurt to move still but the burning feeling was not as painful as before and was becoming soothed by the feeling inside the walk in freezer. Eventually he started to flick his ears and blink back open his eyes fully but his vision was still mostly covered by the crack in his helmet's visor glass. Giving off a few lighter wheezes as he tried to get back his strength, the Avali tried to bring his feet up and claw off the helmet, but was quickly reminded that his claws were covered by boots. Bringing up his small hands he tried to pull it off or unhitch the helmet in some way instead but still he was having no luck and was starting to make low but soft sounding hisses and growling noises from behind the helmet in attempts of getting it off. He wanted to feel the cold of the freezer and this broken suit was now just getting in the way!
Pausing his relentless pained struggles against his helmet and suit, the Avali would try to look up at the person who had saved him, he couldn't see them properly because of the smashed glass but he could see parts, fractured sure but parts. Reaching a small gloved hand up, he'd attempt to gently grab one of Nero's cheeks. He wasn't sure how to thank this individual and was still regaining his strength to do much of anything in the ways of thanks, but he hoped that maybe this would let the man know he really appreciated what he had done for him, he was young, but he understood.

|| Nero’s PL: 17 ||
Eventually, Nero had uncovered an appropriately sized portable cooling box that would comfortably fit a creature of the Avali’s size and easily cradle them within the coldness. It wasn’t perfect, but it was much better than a broken atmospheric suit that didn’t seem to have its own coolant systems from what Nero could gather. If there were any, they weren’t working at this point anyway. Every now and then, Nero looked to the little one to see how he was doing. Much to his relief, the tyke was able to move and eventually relax somewhat. “Shshshshsh, its okay. Save your strength.” Nero said softly, making sure to move slowly in order to not agitate any possible injuries further.
Nero slowly but surely picked up the portable cooler from under the metal cabinets and brought it to a nearby countertop to inspect it. While doing so he noticed the little Avali struggle to get their broken helmet off. “Ah, right, lets get that off you then, huh?” He waited for the Avali to stop wriggling before looking over the helmet and finding the coupling that held it on and dislodging the safety mechanism, allowing the helmet to be taken off with ease by either party. Nero moved to do so as carefully as possible so that the kid could conserve strength and relax. “Heya.” With a smile and a wave, Nero officially greeted the orange featherball face to face without a helmet visor obstructing their eye contact. “Is that better?”
Now, Nero did look quite tough, he had scars to prove he had seen some fierce situations and just around his waist since he was in uniform rather than his preferred clothes, was a bushy prehensile tail. These were unmistakably Saiyan traits, and perhaps even someone as young as this Avali knew what a Saiyan was, but Nero was clearly different. Though he was of Saiyan lineage, from a family of fierce fighters and legendary ancestry, he took the time to be gentle here. Seeing the little one reach for his face, Nero quirked a brow. “Pfhehehe, now what’re you doin?” Changing the way he was cradling the Avali, Nero allowed his face to be within reach for a moment. “You think my hair is cool or somethin’? Heheh~” Nero pointed to the cooling box. “This box is like this room, but colder, its super duper cold. I think it’ll help you since your suit is broken. What do you think? Just nod for yes or shake your head for no.”

When Nero made the "Sh" noise the young Avali looked back up at him and stopped, he knew what that sound meant, he'd been told to be quiet many times by the previous adults who had him in their 'care' but this was said in a much different tone while Nero's was soft and caring. Pankaa listened because of this and simply rested his head against the man's arm, squishing his cheek a little from inside the helmet. Whoever this was, he was very gentle and kind to Pankaa so he respected this back by putting his trust in him more so.
The Avali stayed still when Nero made it clear he was going to help him get the helmet off, even when the thing was undone, Pankaa waited and let Nero gently remove it from his head. Finally, with the helmet off he blinked and shook his head, fluffing out his head feathers and perking up his ears. After he took a moment to let his eyes adjust, he tilted his head up at Nero when he got a smile and a wave from him, but this was shortly followed by a smile of his own before he then quickly hid his face under his hands out of shyness for a moment, giving off a cheeping noise that sounded more like a child's laugh. Looking back to Nero after though he would then take a bat at the helmet, showing his distaste for it and that having it off was in fact better, even sticking his tongue out at it and making a soft "Bbbbbblll!" before turning his nose up at it.
Pankaa didn't stop there though, now that the helmet was off he was eager to get the rest of it off as well. With a bit of clawing and kicking and scrambling around in the man's arms, the little Avali eventually got himself out of the busted and torn up suit, after his fall part, of the shoulder wing blades had snapped off, more of it had torn and he now had multiple agitated skin spots underneath his feathers for it, but thanks to Nero they wouldn't be getting worse. Rather then throw the suit though like he wanted to with the helmet, Pankaa seemed to hold it for longer, staring at the pattern along the sides of it, running one of his clawed fingers along it rather slowly before he pulled it close and gave the pattern a hug, pressing his cheek against it while letting out a sound of anguish, his bright eyes beginning to look glassy. Clearly whatever the pattern meant, it meant a lot to him.
Eventually, he had to let it go, and after fumbling around the suit and pulling out something small, he did. Upon a closer look, Nero would notice that what he pulled out was a small harmonica with a pattern engraved and coloured on the top of it that was rather similar to the one on the suit. When Nero changed the way he was holding Pankaa to allow the youngster to reach his face the Avali reached more, with one finger he gently pressed against one of Nero's scars letting out a light sound that showed he was curious, when Nero laughed though, Pankaa smiled and then opted instead to reach and grab for a strand of Nero's hair. Rather then pull though the child attempted to stick the hair into his mouth, he was hungry! Before he got to fully though he stopped as he was addressed again, looking to the cooling box that Nero was talking about before looking back at Nero, at first the Avali nodded his head but then he paused and quickly shook it after, frowning his little face in confusion. He had copied the movements Nero did though, so he did something correct, right?
The burning from earlier was already catching up on the kid though, and soon he found his agitated skin started to itch but whenever he tried to scratch it, it hurt or even loosened a few of his feathers. On top of that, he was still hungry! Looking up at Nero again he wriggled a little and looked back to the doorway of the walk-in freezer they were in, trying to look back to the room he had been found in. He didn't really fully remember what the words on those bottles had said, but he remembered some of it, and attempted to say it, hoping Nero would understand as he pointed back to where he thought the room was. "Pa..Pan.. Pankaa? Pankaa!"

Nero was beyond glad that the little one was responsive and attentive. Thankfully his tone came across well as far as he could tell. “You’ll be okay.” After finally getting the helmet off, Nero could properly see the face of this Avali child, a tiny orange birdie! “See? Thats better isn’t it?” Noting the distaste for the helmet, Nero couldn’t help but agree. Part of him wanted to blast it proper, just to prove a point but he refrained from doing so since there was a chance it could scare the chirping toddler. Speaking of, it seemed they were a little shy, but laughing it off at the same time. Things were clearly looking good now!
“Oof...” Nero winced seeing the agitated blisters and spots on the Avali after the suit was swiftly dealt with. It must not have been comfortable after the thing was structurally compromised. What was more painful for Nero, was seeing how the child reacted to the patterns on the suit. It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out (now that he had more context than before about Avali) that this was likely the pattern or colour of his tribe, his family... If they were the ones that abandoned the kid they sure as shit weren’t getting him back! Still, Nero knew kids were smart. Perhaps there was more to this than meets the eye. Putting the feelings of this little one into consideration, Nero asked a simple question, his tone still soft and kind. “Home, right? Does that pattern belongs to your tribe?”
After the suit was discarded, Nero brought out his phone and took a picture of the pattern and suit. Sulfur could probably make sense of this— she could help! But not now, Nero had to make sure the kid was safe and no longer stressed before introducing him to anyone else.
It turned out that there was some curiosity directed at Nero’s scars. At the core, the memories associated with them and how he got them weren’t bad per se, but over time certain memories ended up spoiled and sour in a way thanks to Nero feeling betrayed by Kayen. “Oh my scars? Heh, don’t worry about them, I’m okay.” He was okay with his physical scars, but the emotional ones? Not so much.
Nero chuckled at having his hair mistaken for food, glad that the kiddo wasn’t going to yank on it at any point or hang onto it for too long since Nero had been given undivided attention apparently. Even though he wasn’t given a clear answer, Nero at least knew that the kid understood how to follow along.
“Pankaa?” Nero quirked a brow, taking note of where the Avali was pointing, back outside. “Yyyoou mean pancakes? Yeah, this building is a place that sells pancake and other food... Arrreee you hungry?” Of course he was, but Avali diets weren’t one of Nero’s strong suits. Something cold would be an excellent start. He could potentially find some ice cream in this very room, but there was also the matter of hydration. There should be something with ammonia in the building too. “Hmm.” Nero slowly set the little one into the cooling box, which would easily provide proper comfort. “I can get you some food, but I’ll need you to stay in that box so you can get better. Can you do that?”

Having the helmet off was indeed better for the young Avali and he'd give a firm nod to let Nero know he agreed, or at least that motion looked like a nod of agreement of sorts. Close enough right? Pankaa would try to scratch at the agitated skins and spots he now had thanks to the heat, even leaning down to try and bite at his feathers and skin while giving off a rather agitated sounding grumble, his scratches and bites would only provide some form of comfort for a brief few seconds though before the injuries just hurt more from being disturbed that way, causing him to let out an annoyed, but pained squawk of sorts. At least that suit wasn't rubbing against it now and his skin could feel the cool air and hopefully heal quickly.
When Nero asked about the suit, if it meant home and if the pattern belonged to his tribe, Pankaa closed his eyes and gave off a sad sigh as he slowly did the head nod from before. He was starting to get what those meant or at least he thought he did. "Family" He'd whisper softly as he laid his head down, his chin against Nero's arm as he stared down at the floor. "Gone" The young boy put his claws over his eyes again and shuddered, curling his tail up to cover his face as well like a shield. He didn't know if his family was, gone gone, at least from what he could piece together from his memories, but for now they were as good as gone, he had no hope and no way of ever getting home to them and his gut told him there was no one to go back to either way.
After Nero took the picture of the suit, Pankaa had, had enough time and came back out from hiding. When the subject of the man's scars came up after the Avali had touched them, he would tilt his head again looking confused. Nero said he was okay but clearly he'd been in some trouble to have those, right? He was young, but it made him wonder if there were more behind the marks then Nero let show. Pankaa would place one hand near where the other boy's heart would be and looked up at him, his expression was rather hard to tell but there was care clearly visible, he knew what a scar was, he knew how they came to be and he knew they the physical ones tended to act as reminders to the emotional ones.
Gripping onto the harmonica still the Avali nodded again but this time much more eagerly then the last. When asked if he was hungry the child gripped at his tummy with his free hand and chirped hungrily up at Nero. Yes he was hungry! Back with the other tribe, they only gave him enough to live on, but never enough to thrive, let alone enjoy. When asked another question, the box was brought back up again and Pankaa would look at it, then back at Nero and repeat a couple times before kicking his feet and smiling while giving a for sure nod this time. Flapping his winged arms a little as Nero set him into the cooling box, the young Avali gave off a few eager cheeps bouncing up and down a little in the box as he did. He had a new friend, he was going to have some food and he had this neat little box to help him keep cool! Flopping down to sit in the box and fluff his feathers up happily, Pankaa would smile again at Nero, giving him a big look of thanks and gratitude. He hoped one day he could make it up to Nero. One day.

“Woah woah woah, settle down, kiddo.” Nero gently reassured. “If you scratch and bite those spots it will make them worse. Please try your best not to touch them with your claws—” Nero looked around for a ice cube container in a nearby freezer. Luckily enough, he found one and brought it to the table to get a look at them for quality. Picking one out of the container, he offered a the cube to the Avali. “Here. Hold this on the spot that annoys you the most. Its ice. Do you know what ice is? Its another nice cold thing.” Nero explained slowly, just in case.
Next to that tray though, he found a spare stack of a few ice blocks, all orange juice ones! Cool, that was snacks sorted in the most roundabout way possible. They can be saved for later, so Nero closed the freezer.
Besides, there was something more pressing to attend to. Something was fishy, he doubted a good tribe of Avali would abandon their own child… Nero’s mind was a swirling torrent of questions, none of which could be answered by a toddler— at least not right now. So, Nero went for the next best thing. “No, family is not gone. Never gone.” Nero waited for the Avali to either open their eyes or look like he was listening intently. “Family is here.” Nero said, putting his free hand over his chest, and if the Avali relaxed their posture enough, Nero pointed to the little one’s chest where their heart would be. “In your heart. Family is always there.” In some small way, Nero wished it was completely true for himself even if he currently hated Kayen with every fiber of his being.
This kid was clever, when Nero spoke of scars the little one pointed to the Saiyan’s heart a few moments later. “... You’re a smart cookie huh? Okay, yeah. Those scars are different.” He said with a slight smile. “Still working on them. Slowly, but surely.”
Furthermore, the cooling box was a stupendous success! Nero couldn’t help but grin. “Okay little pancake, I’ve got something for you while you wait.” The Saiyan went back over to the freezer to retrieve orange juice ice blocks. He dislodged the sticks and put the frozen citrus goodies into a large bowl, setting it into the cooling box. “Those are ice blocks. These are like ice that you can eat. They taste like oranges too. I’ll be right back, so stay put for me okay? I’ll go get you something more to eat.” Nero gave a nod and went on his way, making sure to close the room’s door on the way out so none of the coolness escaped.

When he was told to settle down the child huffed lightly and drooped his head, he knew he shouldn't of done it though and Nero was simply reinforcing that. He was right too, they now stung more because of Pankaa's biting and scratching. With a light grumble he decided to listen and not repeat the action despite how much his skin shrieked for him to do it again. When offered a cube of ice the small child reached out and carefully took it, it was cold and a bit slippery, as well as being hard to hold but he managed. He looked at Nero and tried to understand what he said to do, he explained it slowly and the avali reckoned he understood what the man was trying to say. Pankaa opened his mouth and bit the bit of ice before sitting down and popping it into his mouth. Guess he didn't quite catch what Nero meant. He followed this up with nodding his head when asked what ice was, did he really understand all the questions or was he just nodding because he learnt how to?
Shortly after though the young Avali made a funny face and started to dribble water down his chin before spitting the block back out, letting it hit the bottom of the ice box he was sat in. The cold block felt friendly but wasn't so nice in his mouth! He left it for now, occasionally poking at it with one claw every now and then. When Nero spoke up again he was saying something about how family was never gone, which caught Pankaa's attention, did the friendly man have his family here too? Looking to Nero he watched him put a hand over his chest before pointing to the young boy's own chest. His heart. Pankaa smiled lightly and put his little clawed hands over the spot where the man had pointed at, trying to feel them, trying to feel home. It was always the place that ached when he thought of his family and home, so it must be the place in his heart where he kept them held dear. When it came to the Saiyan's heart scars, he admitted that those were different. Pankaa didn't say anything but he held an understanding look. Those scars were not always visible, but they were the ones that always lasted longer and cut the deepest. He had a few of his own at this point that still needed to heal.
Pankaa stood up, gripping the sides of the cooling box as he watched Nero go get something for him, eagerly beginning to bounce up and down a little bit from in the cold box as he did. When the Saiyan placed a bowl of orange blocks into the cooling box with him Pankaa looked back up at Nero, he was going to leave for a bit to get him something else. While the Avali didn't say anything to protest this, his little eyebrows did lower in worry slightly and he seemed to watch Nero's every step until he was out of the freezer room and had closed the door. His heart wanted to trust that Nero would come back like he said but his head worried he'd be left again, who would want to look after somebody like him who needs a lot of help, even with the planet's atmosphere anyway? He knew he probably had caused more trouble for the Saiyan just by being here, if this was his home he had made a big mess of it too...
Standing up again the Avali took one of the orange blocks and started to nibble on it, thankfully, it wasn't like the last block so he'd continue to eat at it for a moment while he thought. He couldn't go anywhere without this box or something to keep him cold, he knew he would simply burn up more then he already had like he was before. Without help, he was stuck here. Finishing one of the orange blocks, Pankaa held up the harmonica that he had pulled from his suit before and ran a claw along the coloured pattern on the top. Music was always something his family loved, this was his personal instrument that he was supposed to learn how to play to his Tribe but he was taken away before he got the chance. Rubbing his big bright eyes after they began to well up with lonely tears he brought the little instrument up and chewed on it gently, noticing soon that it made a sound every time he breathed near a certain section of it. Stopping his stress chewing he pressed his face to that part and huffed and it let out a louder noise this time! Maybe he couldn't make any real music with it yet, but he took joy in the fact of making it give a sound at all and amused himself with that until Nero returned.

|| Nero’s PL: 17 ||
Nero gave a firm expression, and was clear in his tone in regards to the irritations that the little one had. “It will be okay. You’re a clever kid.” He gave a thumbs up to reinforce his statement’s positivity. The ice didn’t work exactly like Nero had hoped, so he decided to show rather than tell. He picked up a different ice cube and held it on his forearm. “I mean like this silly, but on the spots that are annoying you. Do you understand?” He waited for a moment to see if the kid would try it or need any extra advice before anything further was done on the matter.
At the very least, Nero’s well founded yet rather cheesy little motivational speech was understood. He was right, this kid was actually pretty smart! Nero was actually overjoyed that the young one seemed to understand. “Mhm, right there. Remember; always.” Nero chuckled seeing the Avali all excited in the box. “Alright. You enjoy those.”
The Saiyan gave a smile over his shoulder as he moved towards the door and out of the room for now. “I’ll be right back.” This was quite the conundrum. Luckily he was in a place that very much had some food. First, Nero fixed the back door that was left open and closed it before jogging back down the corridor towards the kitchen. The easiest thing to make would be a stack of pancakes with some little extras and syrup. Making all that was like second nature, so Nero did it swiftly. Half way through doing so however, his eye caught the sight of some window cleaning products... He knew what they had in them, this one was basically mostly ammonia— the universal solvent for Avali! So, along with the pancakes, Nero snagged the half full spray bottle of window cleaner and made his way back to the room the kid was in.
When nero returned, he heard the instrument that the little one took being played. “Ooh, thats a lovely little sound.” Surely it was an important thing for the boy. Either way, Nero closed the big door behind him and brought over the pancakes and window cleaner. “So, what do you wanna look at first?”

Pankaa seemed a little confused by the thumbs up he was given but he at least guessed that it was a positive gesture. Though he wasn't so sure the clever kid comment was warranted, he didn't even know how to use the ice right! Thankfully Nero explained again this time with a demonstration, which made the Avali's top set of ears shoot up understandingly, as though he had a light bulb moment. He'd then pick up another bit of ice like Nero had done and gently rubbed it against his side where he had first been exposed to Earth's air. The cold ice certainly brought a lot of relief and the Avali let off a relieved chirp of a noise as he relaxed overall in posture. Thankful for Nero's explanation and his supportive motivational speech in regards to his family, the child would smile again and gave Nero a nod to let him know he understood now, and hoped he did in full this time.
Huffing and puffing through the harmonica, the young Avali was starting to work up a tiny musical storm of his own in the freezer room with his little instrument, stopping at some points to have more frozen orange ice and put more normal ice on his feathers and blistered skin. For now he was content enough to stay put for a while and just do this, giving Nero time to keep his promise of that he'd be right back. Sure enough, he did keep that promise and soon reemerged into the room with more food! Stopping his attempt at music with the harmonica for now, Pankaa scrambled to his feed and practically flapped his arms and wings in one excitedly.
He had brought two things, a plate full of some flat looking puffy things and something funny looking in a bottle. The Avali looked between the two things and seemed stuck on what to choose first, frowning his face a little as he tried to pick which to look at first. "Mmm... Pankaa?" He'd finally say as he looked to the plate before then back at Nero. His tail swished excitedly as he tried to sit and be patient but he had to admit, he was pretty hungry at this point thanks to the other Tribe and how they handled feeding, so it was hard to sit still and be patient, but if Nero was patient enough to try and teach things to the child whenever he didn't understand something, then Pankaa could be patient for the Saiyan too. He couldn't help putting on some big hungry eyes though as he waited.

“Mhm. Like that. That is one use for ice cubes.” Nero nodded, satisfied that things were progressing decently enough. As long as the Avali could relax and soon recover, nothing done here was in vain. Nero’s smile didn’t fade, and hadn’t really faded fully for a good while. He felt like those legendarily strong heroes that his parents told stories of. Sure, most if not all of those heroes were fighters, but that was not all they were.
Not all heroes threw a wicked punch, after all.
“Aww..” Nero’s expression softened seeing the little one’s excitement. How could anyone be so callous to something so small and defenseless? It honestly made no sense to Nero at all, seeing this only solidified how he was thinking earlier— He wasn’t going to be stopped, he’ll beat the crap out of whoever the hell abandoned this child! “Ahuh, those are pancakes. Do you want to eat those? Here you go, lil' man.” Nero asked before picking up the plate and lowering it into the cooling box. “Heh. Thats really the only word you’ve managed to say so far... Hmmm.” Nero didn’t know the kid’s name now that he thought about it. “Hey, uh.. What is your name? My name is Nero.”

The Avali sure seemed a lot more relaxed and soothed thanks to Nero's help, certainly a lot better then what he was before the Saiyan found him in the other room, that was for sure. While it was hard to smile for the child right now since he missed his family and felt pretty lost on this planet, he did at least find a lot of comfort in Nero and his help and managed a few small ones here and there to let the man know how his help was appreciated. Nero didn't need to be a big name to be Pankaa's hero in this moment. The Avali knew hardly anything about him yet but what he did know was that he was a hero to him.
When offered the pancakes, Pankaa's eyes lit up with joy and he was pretty quick to jump at them once they were inside the cooling box with him. "Pan.. Pankaake?" He tried to re-say the word after hearing Nero say it but didn't quite get it right again. He didn't seem to mind that he got it wrong again though, he got closer! And he'd get it right eventually, right now he was more focused on eating the pancakes. He also wasn't quite sure what a lil man was, but if Nero called him it maybe it was a good thing!
When asked about his name the Avali paused mid-bite of one of the pancakes, his eyes shifting to look up at the Saiyan rather then being focused down on the food. Biting off the bit already in his mouth, he'd clumsily clamber out of the cooling box, and pointed down at the suit he had, had on before before pointing to one of his shoulders to indicate to check one of the shoulders on the suit. If Nero checked, he'd see a small patch with some printed numbers on it. 16.14.11.1. The Avali then shuffled his feet and fiddled his clawed fingers together. He knew what a name was but he seemed to not quite know his own. Or had lost his memory on his real one to be re-taught this numbered one. Whoever had abandoned him, they only saw him as a bunch of numbers and made it a point to try and get him to believe the same about himself. "Newo" Pankaa repeated to try and be polite in regards to Nero saying his own name, feeling a bit bad he didn't really have anything to answer with specifically on his own name.

Nero chuckled again. The kid really was trying to say proper words. “Hmm. Close. Pan-cake. Try it again, uh. If you want to.” He shrugged, letting the Avali munch on the food in peace. Nero was then free to figure out the contents of the window cleaner in full— and it was exactly as his intuition told him; mostly ammonia. There was more than likely a way to distill it or strain it out like juice since he wasn’t sure if drinking straight cleaning chemicals was smart for literally anyone.
The little one clambered out of the cooling box— which was both somewhat worrying as well as a good sign, worrying because he might fall down somewhere but a good sign since he was progressively showing more physical aptitude. Nero moved to a spot where he could catch the young one if they fell or anything went wrong. “The suit?” Nero idly mused before picking up the ruined suit giving it a good look over; where he found a numerical code... No Avali suit he ever saw, even if it was only two, had numerical code inside the shoulders, they had names. Numbers were not names.
Nero’s grip on the suit tightened as his rage bubbled up further. Thinking through context clues, the kid missed his family, as in truly missed them, so odds are he lost them or he was taken from them... Perhaps Nero was jumping to conclusions, but he immediately thought that whoever just abandoned this child not only kidnapped them, but treated them like a number, a disposable item, a small fraction in a series of statistics. Taking a deep breath, Nero turned back to the Avali child with a solemn look on his face, which brightened slightly after he heard the kid try and say his name.
It wouldn’t be easy to ask this of the little one, but he had to if he wanted to get the truth. “I want to ask you something very important, it might be sad to think about, but I need to know something so that I know how to help you. Are you ok with that?” Nero approached, trying to be at eye level with the kid as he spoke clearly and as simply as he could manage, and waited for an answer, showing that he was incredibly serious wanting to respect the child’s wishes. He wasn't going to ask anything if the kid wasn't comfortable with answering.

Nero tried to explain the word more again, but this time the Avali was too hungry to try again right now, maybe if they tried again after some food? Right now he had his mouth busy working away at one of the pancakes and he couldn't of looked more happier about it, they were delicious! And he got to eat all of it, not half or a section, he got to sit there and enjoy all of it as he pleased. So, as much as he could've dug right in and made a mess, he tried his best not to, remembering that if you ate too fast you could get a sore tummy! When Nero asked about the suit, Pankaa nodded, Nero found the numbers that he had pointed out but his reaction to it wasn't exactly what the child was expecting. Was Nero angry he hadn't given him a real name and could only provide numbers instead? No, the Saiyan was too kind for that but clearly seeing the code of numbers did not make him happy. Maybe, for the same reason it saddened Pankaa, because it split him apart from his family and made him lose his real name in the process. When approached at eye level the Avali fumbled with his little clawed hands again and cast his gaze down anxiously for a moment before giving a slow nod as he looked back up to look Nero in the eyes. He knew this kind of approach was serious and he was used to it being followed by mean things, ones Nero did not follow up with thankfully for him. He knew he would have to explain things though, if Nero were to have any hope of understanding him. This wasn't something Pankaa did well with speech yet since in growing up while kidnapped, he'd been told to "shut up" a lot and never got his proper teachings on it. He also didn't know what kind of langues Nero could read, Pankaa only knew how to somewhat write one but he wasn't very good at that either, he was just a child. But maybe there was something they both could understand enough for the Avali to explain and for Nero to understand. Waddling back to the cooling box for a moment, Pankaa, with a bit of struggling in between, managed to pull the pancakes out of the box and onto the bench instead. Using his claw he drew a few lines into one of the pancakes, the didn't form any letters that most people would know, but maybe they were recognizable to someone... After this though to confirm his answer to Nero, he repeated what the Saiyan had done earlier and gave him a thumbs up to let him know it was okay to ask him anything. Though he had a feeling he knew already what was going to be asked.
