“Oh yeah, I think I can understand that,” Tarch laughed, scratching absentmindedly at his chest. “Kinda like when I first learned not to let people grab my tail. After that, I worked on training it for… I dunno maybe a couple of years? Took a while but boy was it worth it!” That one experience really summed up how the hybrid tended to learn new things. Lots of trial and error, getting hurt and then finding ways to avoid getting hurt again. That was partially why he was learning how to use a sword. Not just to overcome his fear, but to learn how to really protect himself from getting slashed again. Plus it was really cool! Thinking about his initial meeting with Ms. Kayen put an idea in Tarch’s head, however.
“So I have a questions Ms. Kayen. It’s just hyper- err hyped- Hypothetical yeah! If I asked you for a rematch hypothetically. Would you use that again,” Tarch cocked his head toward Fateburn, likely still embedded in the pillar nearby, “Or would you use another practice sword. And I mean like a real full-on rematch… hypothetically. I mean we did a lot of training today but I don’t think I could use my sword in a fight yet.” Obviously, the teen was not being hypothetical at all despite his rampant use of the word, which he prayed he was using correctly. But in all honesty, despite how horrendously his last match went, Tarch was itching for a second fight. Maybe it was just his saiyan biology acting up, or maybe he saw it as a perfect opportunity to really test out everything he learned from all of his previous teachers. Either way, he wanted to finish his training session with a bang.

Kayen chuckled as Tarch equated this to learning to not have his tail be grabbed, it had been a LONG time since she had ever had to pay mind to someone trying to grab her tail, it was one of the few ways she lost in a sparring match when she was younger simply because of how debilitating it was. “Thats up to you kid, for training I’d only use it if you aren’t sure about your ability to build a strong enough barrier then Fateburn isn’t a good weapon for me to use, it’ll only be useful for training your barrier once you actually have a real grasp of what you’re doing. Because then the danger it presents gives you more incentive to get your technique right” Kayen explained, tossing away the remnants of the wooden sword she had splintered against Tarch’s last barrier. “For a more ‘real’ fight I’d probably HAVE to use it against you to be honest. If you end up powering up to anywhere near your full potential the training swords are going to be basically useless against you. Most of them would explode from me just trying to use any of my techniques through them let along trying to strike you with them. Fateburn is special though, it’s damn near indestructible” Kayen explained though she imagined that was not exactly the answer the kid was hoping for.

Tarch swallowed hard. On one hand, he wanted desperately to have that rematch. Not only would it let him fight somewhat close to all out, but it would also give him a chance to face Fateburn once more. That was the second reason he even came here. He wanted to conquer his new fear both by learning it and by fighting against it. He already had a very basic knowledge of how blades worked, now he wanted to face them again.
“So… If I asked you right now to fight me again, would you?” Tarch was expecting a no. Really what reason did Kayen have to grant him much of anything? It was a wonder she even agreed to teach him. Then again, if Vocado was anything to go off of, passing down your knowledge to a younger student came with a deep sense of pride. Tarch may have been too young to know the value of teaching others, but any saiyan knows how much pride means to them. “I’ll uh… I’ll actually take no for an answer this time. I mean I do want to fight you again. A lot. But last time I was kinda being an ass too. If you do say no though can we at least keep practicing with the swords?” If nothing else, Tarch would at least get to continue his lesson if he were lucky. The truth of the matter was he enjoyed spending the day with someone he looked up to. Why he did was still a mystery even to himself. Maybe it was the saiyan half of him that desperately wanted to surpass her, but also found her ferocity to be cool. Either way, he would try to leave the decision up to her. He would still try to convince her though. “I got my armor this time so I don’t get cut as easily.”

“Right now? No, you’re not at one hundred percent right now with all the training we’ve been up to. Some other time? Sure, I’d be more than willing to give another go down the road, you’re a tricky fighter so as long as we keep things relatively even it’ll be a good fight” Kayen tactfully decided not to phrase it as ‘as long as I hold back’ as to her knowledge the kid was not a Super Saiyan and pulling that power out against him would just be overkill. Maybe in a pinch she would do it if he called in a ship to turn Oozaru, but otherwise it was best to keep things mostly even. “Yeah sure we can keep going, you’ve still got a lot to learn before you should be using a sword in a real fight, especially since we’re still only using wooden weapons right now” Kayen tapped her scouter and sent a call for a few more training swords. If Tarch wanted to keep training his new technique it was probably likely she would end up breaking a few more. “Armor is a smart move, you never know what your opponent will throw at you, anything that provides even a bit of protection against an attack is worth having as long as it doesn’t restrict you.”

An odd mixture of disappointment and understanding filled Tarch. On one hand, he was itching for that chance to try and beat her one again. Even if his reasons were different. He didn’t want to try and avenge Vocado’s loss this time, but his own. He also thought that the best way to really become a better fighter is to surpass his teachers. One taught him the Galick Gun, and the other taught him swordplay. Some strange part of the young hybrid wanted to be better than the people he looked up to. But until he learned to better control his own power, he’d really be no match against Kayen. She was a super saiyan after all.
“Alright. Next time then! I’ll find you when I learn how to control my power better. And after practicing with this more.” Tarch swung his wooden sword lazily through the air. He hoped it wouldn’t meet the same fate as the one that met his barrier. This had a certain sentimental value to it. His first training sword. “Speaking of, I’m ready to keep going when you are.” Though he probably couldn’t keep going for too long, Tarch would try to spend as much time training with Ms. Kayen as he could. He was hoping to see her super saiyan form, but he figured that could come later. Maybe against his Oozaru form just to see the difference for himself.
Tarch “exits” the thread but stays to train i guess?
