SEIZE THE THRONE| Ramen's PL: 130,000 |
The political situation on Vegeta seemed to calm down considerably during Ramen's absence. That was why, when she marched into the throne room just a couple hours after arriving on the planet, she didn't entirely think she would be taken seriously by one of the new recruits on the job. As she stepped through the wide doors into the main hall, he stepped before her and held out his hand to halt her. It was a bold move given how relatively low-power he was, but she laughed it off all the same. She couldn't very well be upset with someone for doing their job, especially if it was someone too new to recognize her.
"State your business," he ordered, taking a pace back -- presumably to prepare to halt her if she tried to get around him. "Queen Kayen is in her personal chambers. The throne room is off limits until she returns."
"But I like the throne," complained Ramen. New recruits were always the easiest to mess around with, though she figured the joke would end after a couple of minutes. "I don't think anyone can stop me. Maybe I'll just go take it."
The soldier seemingly had no response to that, and while he fumbled with what to do next, she swept past him and made her way up to the throne. He protested, but she waved him off and settled there, crossing one leg over the other and reclining back. She slipped out a little crown made of flowers from her pack and set it upon her head. It struck a ridiculous image, and one that should have tipped off the young man that it was all in jest. Unfortunately, the strange ways of Earthlings eluded him.
"Go on and tell Kayen that her friend from Earth has laid claim to her throne," she decreed from atop the Queen's seat. "I expect her to try to defend, of course..."
The Saiyan turned and rushed off with that. She gave him an odd look as he bolted out the door, only then realizing he might have taken her a little too seriously -- but she wasn't about to back down from the joke now. She would just have to have a little fun with the consequences. As she lounged in the Throne, as had become her habit to the dismay of some traditionalists, the young recruit hurried on to report to Kayen: painting her a picture of a brazen warrior laying claim to the throne with a crown of flowers.

Kayen was, for once, not working out in her Gym while bureaucrats and merchants did their best to convince her to change her course of action to better suit their aims, instead she was down in Barb’s workshop where many other Kingdom technicians were scurrying around working on various projects. She was down here because Barb had something to show her and as she stood beside the smaller Saiyan Kayen quirked an eyebrow. “It’s a bit big, the Eclipse isn’t exactly a LARGE ship, you remember that… right?” Kayen asked cautiously, Barb got rather sensitive with her projects and it was not in Kayen’s interests to have to wait for her to get out of another funk “Ehehe, that’s the trick Kayen. It’s not FOR the Eclipse” Barb said her expression growing excited and perhaps just a bit.. Devious? As if she was excited to finally reveal some huge secret. “So I MIGHT have kept a little secret from you, I WAS working on the new engine for the Eclipse, but then a week ago some big ship pulls into the starport. Skash was on duty and checked in with them and it turns out they are pirates. FRIENDLY pirates” Barb explained and slowly the pieces began to fall into place for Kayen. “Some of your old crew showed up, the guy in charge talked to Skash for a WHILE to get Skash to not call in more guards to try and push them out of there and explain how they knew you and stuff, obviously Skash knows you were a pirate before so he runs some checks and finds that they are exactly who they claim to be. Skash calls me up since you were busy training to pass along the message but I have a GREAT idea, a surprise for you!”“Your old ship, the pirate-y one, is the ship I’m working on upgrading. The crew have been spending some time… rehabilitating” Barb said with air quotes earning a laugh from Kayen who knew that it was far more likely they were making their way through every bar on Vegeta by now. “That ship of yours was already fantastic, with some modifications it’ll be even BETTER”Kayen was impressed, and intrigued. The Stormbreaker had been her pride and joy, the only reason she had not brought it with her when she departed Raiti was to provide her crew with a means to continue working without having to put down a ton of Zeni on another ship, and one that likely woulden’t be near as good. Having it back would be great, especially upgraded. She WOULD have to find out what had brought her crew to Vegeta as she highly doubted it was just a visit for booze and to catch up. “You’ve done a fantastic job Barb, I’d still like to see the Eclipse repaired but this is far more than I expected” Kayen said before her scouter beeped indicting a message, one from the throne room guards. “Uhh.. Queen Kayen, I’m sorry for calling but Commander Ramen has… uh.. I cant tell if she’s serious or not but she says shes laid claim to your throne and expects you to defend it” the guard nerviously responded earning a raised eyebrow he could not see. “Neat. I’ll be there soon” Kayen highly doubted it was a genuine effort by Ramen to take over the Kingdom, more likely it was just her messing with the guards “I’ve got to go Barb, keep up the good work” and with that Kayen took off for the throne room. Her arrival would take only a few moments and she was met by the nervous guard who she simply breezed past planting her boot firmly against the doorway to the throne room and shoving the massive doors open with ease. Kayen paused briefly as she took in the image, it was far more amusing than any description could have been and threw off her effort to make a more grand entrance entirely “I’m pretty sure if he saw this now, the old King would have a heart attack on the spot, hell we could probably clear out some of the stuffier old ‘elites’ that popped back up after the wish now with this image” Kayen said with a grin.

Ramen smirked as Kayen made her way into the room, twisting around in the throne to rest with her head on one armrest and her legs up on the other. She lifted the flower crown off her head and twirled it about her finger as the Saiyan approached. She couldn't help but laugh at the mention of the old King: sometimes, she forgot there had even been someone before Vocado. It was before her time. "Well, if any of them want to come in and express a grievance, let them. This is my throne after all..." her smile faded and she regarded Kayen seriously. "After all, I wasn't joking. I'm claiming the throne, here and now."
With that, she spun back around and hopped out of the chair, skipping down the steps towards her apparent opponent. She only came to a halt when she was about a foot away from the Saiyan, close enough to have to look up to face her. "I had a lot of time to think on my little journey to Arcose," she shot the Queen a rather grave look, though it soon transitioned into something more akin to a pout. "Being your Commander is nice and all, but what am I to do when we run out of enemies to fight? Besides, I can't fight all the time..."
She stepped in closer and stood on her toes, reaching up to set the crown on Kayen's head instead. "I put that together for you with some flowers from a moon along the way back from Arcose," she pointed out. "It was mostly an excuse to get out and stretch my legs, I do hate flying around in those little space-pods. But that brings me to the point -- I missed you more than I thought I would. So, I'm claiming your throne."
"You can call me whatever you want, consort, paramour, girlfriend, concubine, whatever the Saiyans like to call that. But--" she tilted her head to the side. "Let's find a word of some sort, because 'Commander' isn't horribly romantic."

Kayen smirked at Ramen’s flippant attitude towards other’s opinions on her presence on the throne though she grew just a bit confused by Ramen’s assertion that she really WAS here to claim the throne, Kayen had a feeling there was a bit more to it than Ramen being here to actually declare herself Queen, it would be quite the turn from her opinion on Namek that that titles should be held by a proper Saiyan. That or perhaps Ramen had finally caved to the notion that she really did feel more ‘Saiyan’ than Earthling. Kayen waited to see how things played out as Ramen was very clearly not done and she expected that within a few moments she would know if this was a serious change of attitude or something else. As Ramen continued she attempted to place a ‘crown’ of flowers on Kayen’s head, if it were almost literally anyone else Kayen likely would have decked them in the face but Ramen was… different. The crown sat rather awkwardly on her head, not quite as ideal a ‘fit’ atop her hair as it was on Ramen’s. Kayen had quite a few opinions on her comment about running out of enemies but it felt better to just remain quiet for now, let Ramen do the talking. The crown itself was strangely… nice? Kayen was not overly fond of flowers but the fact it was made for her and by Ramen made it a bit different, it was strange to realize that it was Ramen that made the difference though she had little time to think of that as Ramen raised an opinion that Kayen had also held but not really put too much thought into. She had apparently missed Kayen more than she’d expected on her trip away from Vegeta, Kayen had realized the same thing once it became clear when Ramen had taken off the first time, that above everyone else it was the lack of her presence that distracted Kayen the most, wondering how long it would be until she made her return. Kayen’s thought process was once more cut off as Ramen continued on and this time it was not just cut off as she was given something new to think of but rather Kayen’s mind appeared to go entirely blank at the topic Ramen brought up, Kayen had not quite properly realized until now that this was the logical progression of things. She had not been in a ‘real’ relationship for quite a while and even then she’d been little more than a stupid child. And yet now she felt very much like she was once again like a stupid uncertain child, for once her usual confidence was drained away and replaced with an emotion that had become long foreign to Kayen, nervousness, she was unsure how to respond to ANY of this least of all the fact that she was fairly certain that it, once again, felt ‘right’. And so the Queen stood there blinking a few times trying to form SOMETHING to say but finding herself at a loss.

Ramen stood there with her hands on her hips, watching Kayen expectantly. Though she had been anticipating some kind of response, positive or negative, instead Kayen just sort of stood there. She looked awkward, to say the very least -- maybe unused to this sort of situation. That or she just didn't know how to let Ramen down gently enough not to hurt her feelings. Either way, it became very quickly apparent that the Queen was left without words to offer. Ramen tilted her head from side to side, as if trying to coax something out, but eventually she just took it upon herself to speak up again.
"This isn't a proposal," she assured Kayen, pacing back up towards the steps where the throne was sitting. Rather than claim the throne again, she instead sat back against the steps. "I'm not looking to stick a ring on your finger and run around acting like we're star-crossed lovers or something. I'm just saying, y'know -- maybe we should actually go on some dates and maybe not flirt with too many other people."
She paused a moment, considering that. Now that she actually thought of it, that didn't sound like something Kayen would really be into. She just sort of shrugged off her own suggestion, opting to amend it. "... Well, I guess you can still flirt with other people. I mean, I'm not gon'na get jealous or anything. Just as long as long as I get to be the one that sticks flowers in your hair."

Kayen had not really realized how long she had just been standing there like a moron until Ramen spoke up again leading to her rather quickly realizing just how idiotic she must have looked, just standing there with some sort of presumably stupid look on her face over how off guard Ramen had caught her with what she had said. Kayen shook her head to get herself fully back to her senses and shake off a bit more of the nervousness, while she HAD been caught off guard she wasn’t about to let the unexpected nature of this completely derail her for too long “Sorry, I just, I didn’t really expect that. I’m not really used to long term relationships, you’re the only person I’ve had any real interest in for longer than a day or so for a long while” Kayen finally spoke up, it did in a way help that Ramen clarified what exactly she was interested in, reigning Kayen’s thought back in to just the idea of them still being what they were, just a bit more clear that it WAS a real relationship. “Last time I had one I ended up losing an eye” Kayen said with a half smirk, she imagined sooner rather than later it would probably be best to let Ramen know the full story, to let her know WHY she had reacted like she did even if it was not something she was overly excited to talk about. While the situation was… similar it was in other ways also very different. Ramen had nothing to really gain by doing this other than just actually making their relationship something real. She was already the second in command of the Kingdom and as much as she joked about it Kayen imagined she still held little interest in actually ruling. “I think though that would be good, I’ve never really uh.. Did dating, but I know generally what it’s about and I think I’d like that. You also have nothing to worry about, no matter who I might look at or flirt with I’m VERY sure you’re the only one that will be putting flowers in my hair” Kayen’s confidence had now returned in full, it WAS good to know Ramen would not mind her showing at least a passing interest in others, Kayen knew for sure that she would have had a very hard time making that sort of change. But even still now that Kayen thought about it while she did still flit a bit it had lacked anywhere near as much frequency as before.

Ramen squinted at Kayen. She wasn't wholly surprised to learn that there had been some relationship drama in her past, the whole 'pirate' occupation seemed to breed strife between friends and family -- but she was curious. For now, she put that curiosity aside. It wouldn't exactly be polite to just pry here and now about Kayen's romantic history, especially if it was a sore spot. "I've had a few people I was with for, y'know, a month here and there or a couple of weeks in the past, but I'm not sure you'd call that really long-term. It's not like you go on one date and then you're married or something, y'know?'
She shrugged a shoulder, resting with her hands back on the throne platform. Kayen towered over her even at the best of times, but seated like this -- even elevated as she was -- she practically had to crane her neck all the way back to even meet the woman eye to eye. "Just take it casually and all that. Things tend to develop naturally and whatever. And you can do what you want when I'm not around, s'like I said, I'm not jealous. Just, uh..." she paused a moment.
"Don't flirt with Nashua or I'll throw you out a window," she added. She wasn't even sure herself where that rule had come from, but she was pretty confident it was a good one. As far as she was concerned, Kayen could go as far as she wanted with whoever she wanted, as long as they weren't actually dating. But Nashua kind of had to be off-limits. She added, after a moment longer. "--You can make out with Vocado all you want, though. It'd probably help cure your guys' weird continued dispute if you'd get over it, and I imagine that'd be a real easy way to do it."
She snickered at that, before rising back to her feet. "I know I tend to come and go on different missions or... well, personal trips a fair bit, so it wouldn't really be fair of me to expect you to just sit around and be bored all day."

“We can keep going more or less how we have I suppose, just now we know we’re both interested in this being.. Well being a this” Kayen said with a shrug and a smirk “though, ideally we’ll find more time to actually be around each other. Maybe next time you decide to harass the Arcosian’s give me a bit more heads up and we can both go” though perhaps not a conventional ‘date’ it certainly would be an amusing sort of way to spend time together. Providing them both with some things they enjoyed. Kayen tried to keep a straight face but couldn't help but let out a particularly undignified snort of laughter at Ramen’s first sort-of rule or more limit “I don’t think that will be an issue, truth be told, and I mean no offense. I’m not actually sure she would realize what I was doing if I tried.” Granted Kayen held confidence in that primarily because she had actually already made some vague efforts before. She’d made an effort to see if there was any interest on Nashua’s end but literally everything Kayen had tried had flow completely over the other Saiyans head. Everything after that had really just served to reinforce that, Nashua had a strange sort of… pure bliss to her existence. The fact she had at some point apparently gotten angry enough to ascend to Super Saiyan was still something Kayen could not quite wrap her head around. “I doubt he could handle any more than that. Hell I doubt he could handle even that much. He’d just end up more disgruntled than he already is, Nashua might be a better fit to sort him out, balance out his…” Kayen made a vague gesture as she lacked the right words to really frame what she thought of Vocado “Vocado-ness”

"We'll see," Ramen replied with a noncommittal shrug. As much as she would have liked to give Kayen her promise here, she knew better than that. She had never done a good job of staying her impulses in the past: now that she had a spaceship and enough power to not fret over being blasted out of the sky the second she touched down on an unfriendly planet, the world felt a little more open to her. Arcose wasn't a tempting option given how much of a mess her last journey there had been, but... she lifted her shoulder for another shrug, not moments after her last.
"I really don't have any intention of going to bother any Arcosians again. They've had the fight stolen from them by their six-month occupation or... well, however long it was. I think the Trade Fleet only nominally cares about Arcose at this point. It's a reliable reserve of extremely powerful lieutenants, maybe. But they can get money from just about any undefended planet, can't they?" she glanced away and wrinkled her nose. The most obvious example was Earth: their efforts there might have been ruined, but they were certainly trying to turn it into their newest prize extract cash from. "... whatever fight remains to be had with them, it'll probably be fighting their little cells of goons skulking around on Earth or Namek or wherever else."
When she finally looked back to Kayen, she managed to shrug off a frown in favour of a weak smile. "As far as Vocado goes, I do think you two need to find some way to solve your little dispute. You seem to hate each-other mostly on the grounds that because you are... who you are, everything you do around each-other is just way more annoying than it should be. I mean, I know you technically took his crown, but like..." she waved a hand, vaguely.
"Surely you can still kiss and make up after that, right? On Earth, politicians don't just start feuding with each-other just because their term in office ends."

“Mmh, unfortunately you’re probably right. I’d hoped, at least after I found out what you were up to. That your trip to Arcose would spur them to centralize there, to make sure the Arcosian homeworld could not be taken, would have made finishing off this whole Fleet debocle a whole hell of a lot easier. But from what I can tell there’s not been any notable increase in traffic to Arcose.” It was entirely possible that whatever traffic to Arcose, if any beyond the norm COULD have gone under the radar, the Fleet were after all long used to the buisness of keeping a low profile when necessary. But Kayen doubted it, with an Arcosian like Chill in charge if they WERE reclaiming the ‘homeland’ they would have made a show of it, tried to discourage attack by showing they had a powerful defensive force. But there was a whole lot of nothing, she’d hoped to avoid cleaning up the Fleet issue on Earth and the other various planets they hid themselves away on, on Arcose she had figured they would be less likely to utilize population centers as a means of defense as those would be THEIR people. But now? They would need to be clever to catch them outside of cities, at least for as long as people like Ramen and Nashua cared about that. As long as it wasn’t HER cities being torn apart Kayen only really cared insomuch that Ramen might or that it could make partnerships difficult. Kayen rolled her eyes as Ramen continued the Vocado conversation, she had hoped that her shot at him would be the end of it but once more Ramen was hoping they would bury the hatchet “Ramen, I’m not a particularly… friendly person, I pick and choose the people I treat well, everyone else is irrelevant. Vocado is one of the few people who falls in a strange gray area, I dont LIKE him, but I lack any real animosity toward him, at least now. I won, I have no grudge to hold. If I lob any insults at him it's more out of amusement and a challenge directed at him.” She’d held some lingering resentment toward him for ‘stealing’ the honor of being the first Super Saiyan of their age but the glory of victory did much to ease any of her annoyances. Even losing her tail was ultimately worth it in the long run. “If he’s got issues that's his problem” Kayen said with a shrug “Its also VERY disconcerting how invested you seem to be in me kissing the idiot.” Kayen said with a smirk, while Vocado certainly had the sort of power that Kayen could respect for a possible relationship his personality held far too many annoyances for her to ever seriously consider him.

"You can be as friendly as you try to be," Ramen contended, waving off Kayen's comment with a dismissive flick of her wrist. She knew full well that Kayen had a prickly side, but she found it hard to accept that as an excuse most days. People were, after all, who they chose to be. At least to some extent. "Besides," she added. "The fact that you know you're being unfriendly means you can recognize when you're going to say something that's going to make someone want to kill you and, y'know -- not say that thing. The more Saiyans that like you, the better... right? I mean, it'd help you with the whole Queen side of things."
She shrugged, before resting back on her hands again. Sitting on the steps of the throne platform meant practically laying backwards to be able to look upwards at Kayen, but she did just fly halfway across the galaxy to get here. She was a little too tired to stand in the middle of the throne-room all evening. Or maybe she was just being lazy. "It's almost better off they stay disorganized," she remarked, returning to Kayen's initial comments about Arcose. "If they do gather together, they might actually be able to pose a threat to the world. And... as much as I know you love fighting and you'd enjoy a war with the Arcosians, probably anyway... y'know they don't fight on an even field, right?"
There were a fair few Saiyans who could claim far more experience than Ramen when it came to fighting off the Trade Fleet. In truth, she was a relative novice at it compared to some. Namek may have been a protracted campaign, and she did have some altercations on Earth, but she hadn't had to deal with their surprise invasion of Vegeta, nor any of their other, no doubt identical invasions across the stars. But she thought she had a fairly good handle on how they operated. "The Trade Fleet are cowards," she stated, matter-of-factly. "The Stargoons are a little better for the most part, though I'm not sure all of their ranks can claim that. Majin Mumbo and Chamil were both warriors deserving of some begrudging respect, but I doubt whoever else clings to that name can say the same thing."
"War with them wouldn't mean one giant pitched battle, which is what I kind of floated in the past -- my idea for how to beat them. It'd mean them lurking in space for months and months until someone tried to dethrone you, we wound up fighting some other planet, or we just spread ourselves out, maybe trying to deal with those Dragon Balls or even just training ourselves under the illusion of peace--" she waved her hand, dismissing herself just as she had done for Kayen moments ago. "Whatever the circumstances were. They would try to destroy or capture territory or assassinate individual warriors whenever they thought they could do it without risking a defeat. They're like a dumb mob that only knows how to play hit-and-run."

Kayen shrugged her shoulders at Ramen’s comments on her only being as friendly as she tried to be, it was accurate, the only issue was of course that Kayen often actively chose to be unfriendly unless she saw some benefit to being otherwise, she COULD choose not to be antagonistic but things tended to end up far more amusing if she did otherwise. Especially when it came to people like Vocado. Ramen seemed to have a very different idea of how to approach the whole leadership thing, it seemed vaguely at least to be based around doing ones best to not cause problems, while Kayen preferred the method of being who she chose to be and simply being too intimidating for anyone to WANT to take action against her. “Better maybe, but a bit less fun, picking them off one by one whenever they decide to do something stupid probably wont end up being particularly fun or worth the effort, and lets be honest no amount of grouping up of the Fleet will REALLY pose us any risk, the only members of the Fleet currently worth a damn are the Stargoons who could just as quickly cut there losses and find someone new to work for. I’d wager I could kill the whole of the Fleets ‘elite’ myself if I could gather them up in one spot and even if by some miracle I couldn't do it alone the two of us together would certainly get the job done” And in the unlikely scenario she was massively misjuding them Fleet then Nashua was an option, and Sensoa too, the Fleet ultimately only remained as long as the Kingdom decided they weren't a threat worth actively seeking out. “They aren’t a real threat, we’ll figure out a way to flush them out a bit more readily so we don’t have to deal with them trying to pick at us while we’re busy doing more important things. For as cowardly as they are the Arcosian’s that lead the Fleet have massive egos, eventually someone like Chill will do something big and stupid and obvious and we can blast him, then cut down whoever comes after him. If they keep losing leaders to their only real rival they Fleet will quickly see less people interested in joining them. It’s a bit like how I handled some problems back when I first took Raiti” Kayen said with a wide grin remembering fondly her more slow burn approach to taking the asteroid.
