Ramen wrinkled her nose at Nashua's sentiment. It was probably true that her upbringing had been part of why she'd turned out tough, though that made it sound a little too much like a good thing. It did seem clear that if she had of been allowed a normal life, she probably wouldn't have invested into martial arts the way she did. But it was a hard thing to reason, and she didn't very much want to think on it too hard. She just shrugged her shoulder, opting to gloss over the comments for the time being.
"--Ah," she finally raised her voice as the topic briefly moved to Nashua's armour. "I think--"
She blinked, stopping dead in her tracks as Nashua's mother made her appearance again. Though momentarily caught by surprise, she soon recovered and managed a hasty smile up at the woman, mumbling her thanks as the soup was set down. But before she could so much as take a first sip of the broth, she found herself on the receiving end of another question. More awkward than anything, at least depending on how truthful she wound up being.
"Oh! Um..." she stumbled over her answer at first, abandoning her soup soon in the bowl. "It's kind of a long story. When we first met, I actually didn't really approve of her since she wanted to overthrow Vocado, who's also a friend of mine. But I think I sort of naturally wound up working my way up the ranks just because I'm strong and I like fighting. And I mean, I beat plenty of top Saiyans while they were in that Oozaru form, which probably helped..."
She really didn't have a good answer for why she ended up Commander. In reality, it probably had more to do with Kayen having come to the Kingdom without any of her old crew than anything else. If there had been a more trustworthy subordinate to lean on, the nod probably would have gone to them. It was a matter of being in the right place at the right time, and though she wasn't about to mention it to her parents of all people, Nashua's mishap with the radar probably helped the process along a little.
"To be honest, I don't even know how good a choice I was," she admitted. "I'm stronger than most Saiyans, but I'm also, y'know... from Earth. So I don't think I agree with Kayen a lot of the time when she's more... looking for like, glory and whatever through battle or whatever."

"Vocado? That twig Prince from the Bonemoon House?" Nashua's father quickly replied when Ramen brought up his name. "He was King for a while? How? Did every Saiyan capable of taking a proper breath just drop dead?" His eyes darted over towards Nashua, whom he asked, "Why didn't you try and become Queen? Surely, you'd have been more capable of the job than that buffoon." Nashua looked a bit flustered by his remarks as she tried to come up with a response, but her mother rode to the rescue, "Oh, hush. I'm sure she'd have made a fine Queen, but look at all she's accomplished without the shackles of being royalty prohibiting her. Besides, would you really have wanted to live in Cacumber Castle instead of our nice place, here?" Nashua's father seemed to be weighing the pros and cons in his head before he finally simply shrugged and continued to slurp down his food.
As for the comments about Ramen's strength, Nashua's mother seemed a bit unconvinced. "So, you're a human who can beat up fully powered Oozarus? Never seen one of those before, ha!" Agula slurped up the last bits of soup that remained in her bowl before she leaned forward across the table and placed her elbow down, with her hand outstretched towards Ramen. "Why don't you show me those guns, then? Arm wrestle me, the real test of strength!" "Okay, that's probably not a good idea," Nashua interrupted, leaning forward and gently lowering her mom's arm for her. "Ramen is plenty strong, trust me - I've seen her, and felt her in action. She definitely packs a punch. I'm not sure anyone short of a Super Saiyan could beat her, now!" Nashua glanced over towards Ramen with somewhat of an apologetic look.
She hadn't been expecting her parents to be so... Nitpicky? Well, perhaps they were simply excited to meet the girl that was supposedly an Earthling who could level mountains with the flick of her thumb. Most Earthlings weren't like that. Broccini seemed to take some curiosity in her words about Kayen, though, as he chimed back in, "Oh, yeah? If you ask me, that's what a real Saiyan Queen or King should be like. We've had two hundred years of pussies, and now we've got someone who knows how to get stuff done and understands the thrill of the fight!" He glanced over at Nashua and Agula, who were both giving him a look he knew all too well by this point. "...Course, I don't think she should go around taking over planets and stuff, obviously," he managed to backpedal. "Anyway," Nashua said, "You like it in the Kingdom, though, right Ramen? The, uh, issues aside."

Ramen frowned when Nashua's father began to insult Vocado. Although it wasn't really her job to defend his honour to every Saiyan with a reason to dislike him, this was Nashua's father, and Nashua had always had a fairly unique relationship with Vocado. Even if it had some pretty poor lows. Once her mother had finished weighing the cons of being royalty, she spoke up. "Vocado isn't exactly a twig," she replied, with a shake of her head. "He was one of the strongest Saiyans in the world for a long time. The only people that could ever really challenge him were Nashua and Kayen -- the only Saiyans, at least..." Then, she lifted her shoulders in a lazy shrug. "Besides. He was one of the three who managed to become Super Saiyans, right? So he can't be a twig."
That settled, she merely nodded, content that she had done her due to her friend with her little defense. Then, she returned her attention to Nashua and flashed her the faintest of smirks. "I don't think any Super Saiyans could beat me," she replied, though there was a teasing note to her voice. "Technically, I've beaten two Saiyan monarchs in single combat. Even if one of them was kind of a friendly fight..." She glanced aside to Nashua, another shrug directed at her friend. She wasn't even sure if she had told Nashua about her duel with Vocado, but it wasn't something she really needed to bring up in the presence of her parents. Especially when one already didn't like the man.
"--Anyways," she continued on. "I do think Kayen will be a good queen. But she won't be launching any grand invasions unless she has a really good reason. Nashua and I have her ear on most things."
She offered a somewhat brighter smile at that, before returning to her soup for a couple more mouthfuls. Kayen might have been something of a wildcard in the past, but she was fairly certain she wouldn't go as far as to invade a planet without asking first. Maybe she would take out a space station here and there, deal with some old rivals or help root out the Trade Fleet. But Earth, Namek, Konats -- those kinds of planets were perfectly safe from her, and she was content with that.
"I do like it here, too! I'm gone away a lot, but I do need to start spending more time here. You're here, and so are a lot of my other close friends at this point. Vocado isn't, but at least we have Kalabas. He's just snobby and rich enough to make up for it!" She suppressed a snicker at that, not entirely sure Nashua would appreciate the joke. "--Anyways, long distance relationships are kind of hard, and I barely get to see--um."
She paused a moment. That wasn't public knowledge.
"I mean, um. Friendships," she offered, a meager correction to escape her own idle admission.

"Strongest, smongest," Nashua's father quickly replied to Ramen's protests with a shake of his head. "I'm not talking about muscle, if that's what you mean. I mean a strong spine! The most powerful man in the universe can't do jack sh-" he glanced over at Nashua's mother, who gave him the sternest of glares while he stopped himself from cursing in front of their guest. "Jack shoot," he corrected himself with a wink towards Agula, "If he doesn't have the guts to do anything. That's all I'm saying." The man gave the redhead a shrug, before he helped himself to another serving of soup from the pot in the center of the table. As much as Nashua might have, in her heartest of hearts, liked to protest the idea that not a single Super Saiyan could beat Ramen, the evidence currently available all seemed to be pointed towards the claim, her own little tournament skirmish with Ramen included.
Luckily for Nashua, Ramen was quick to go along with the ponytailed Saiyan's subject change, with the redhead talking of how much she genuinely enjoyed being on Vegeta, which made her friend quite happy to hear. "Oh, Vocado isn't here? I could've sworn I heard something about him making an appearance at some big new coliseum they built out in the Wastelands," Nashua replied, scratching her head as she began to think she'd simply misheard. Maybe she'd heard wrong. As for Kalabas... Nashua actually didn't know who that one was. "Who's Kalabas?" she was quick to ask, although her mom chimed in, "That Strongbone kid? He survived the invasion, too?" her eyes rolled over towards her husband, whom she said to, "Honey, I'm starting to think it's a bit embarrassing that we were the ones who died." He couldn't help but agree with a slight nod.
Ramen's slight slip of the tongue, despite her apparent slight panic, seemed to have gone well over the heads of the others at the table. Or, rather, Nashua's parents hadn't been listening by that point, and Nashua herself simply failed to understand the implications of what her Earthling friend had meant by 'relationship'. Either way, the soup pot was officially empty as she scooped up and drank down the last bit in the container. "Well, that was a great soup," Nashua complimented her mother, who waved it off. "D'aw, it was nothing special. I'd have made even more if I knew we were having a guest over! But you all look satisfied, to me." Nashua's mother quickly thanked Ramen for coming over before she picked up the pot and carried it back over to the kitchen, with her father following shortly after with a thumbs up towards Nashua.
Now the two were alone, again. "So, uh... What do you think?"
