”You’re still going to go through with it?” Vocado shook his head. He figured a pummeling like this would deter the Namekian. He’d figured wrong.
Rubbing his temple, the once-king gestured to a pile of rocks. Destroyed earlier in the scuffle, the makeshift pile would have enough room for both of them to sit down, should Mollusc wish to, that is.
Plopping himself down on one of the rounder rocks, he began to explain.
”As hopeless and sulking as I’ve been this past month or so, I’ve been doing a lot of tinkering with this new form. It’s incredibly powerful, yes, but it has limits and drawbacks. Big ones, in fact.” He raised his hand, and fired a small pink beam of Ki. It shattered one of the nearby rock into a fine powder. ”Even that minuscule amount of Ki would put a toll on the stamina of the form. Each exertion, every strike will drain its battery. And when the battery runs dry?” He closed his hand into a fist, then splayed his fingers out, imitating an explosion.
”You’re done. No more gold.”
He let Mollusc drink in the information as best he could, before continuing.
”The form has a limit, but I’ve been working out the kinks whenever I spend time with it. It’s not as draining as it once was, and I think I can only extend its timer further until its near-infinite. I imagine Kayen has been learning more about it too.”
”If you wait too long she’ll figure out the form fully, and you’ll never stand a chance... Not that you do now, of course, but the gap will only widen with time.”
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. Did this chump stand any chance? Vocado wanted to dissuade him in any way possible, but that seemed a fool’s errand. For now, he’d keep helping, and wait to dish out the I-Told-You-So’s later.
”Kayen likes to control a fight. Dominate her enemy with superior range and intense strength. That gem of hers increases her powers beyond her limit.” He chuckled to himself. ”I suppose you could try ripping it off, but that’d cost you more hands than you can regenerate.”
”So you have to play against her strengths. Keep the fight on your terms. If you can keep her on the backfoot, get her to waste stamina? You might have the workings of a chance.... Maybe.”
Vocado stood up. What else was there to say? ‘See you at your funeral’ maybe? Kayen only spared Vocado because of Ramen and Nashua. Mollusc didnt have that luxury.
”You’re insane, you know that? You don’t have to do this. Just give me more time, and I’ll handle her myself. Once i get more accustomed to fighting with this new handicap I can beat her and you won’t have to risk your stupid life over something I should have handled myself.”
Vocado sighed in defeat. ”Who am I kidding? I could present you Kayen’s head on a platter and you’d still want to go fight her ghost.”
Reluctantly, he stuck his hand out, hoping to shake Mollusc’s. This might be the last time they ever see one another. ”Try to last more than a minute next time, alright? If you don’t, I wont revive you when we inevitably collect the Dragon Balls again.”
