NAME: Steno (pun/shortened name of Stenothecidae)
SPECIES: Namekian Warrior Caste
AGE: 42
GENDER: Namekian "Male"
STARTING PLANET: Namek
APPEARANCE:

BACKGROUND: Namekians are known to mature both mentally and physically faster than the vast majority of races due to the method which they are spawned and raised; Steno was no exception and if anything was tossed into the deep end of the metaphorical pool the moment he was able. Every Namekian belongs to a caste, and Steno the warrior caste more specifically, meaning he stronger than most and his training was more physical and focused on fighting. At a young age for most of the universes' species, he was pulled from his training and brought to the temple of Planet Namek's guardians where he was groomed for the task of protecting the future Guru of their species given the health and age of the one overseeing their world.
Years before his training was completed the Guru of their planet stood against opposition along with his own protectors, but war and conflict, and more unfortunately the presence of outsiders caused issues among his people, wore on the health of their honored sage. Decades past as entrance to Planet Namek was cut off from space travel, keeping anyone from landing or anyone from naturally leaving via ship. During this time Steno's training was increased ten-fold, pushing him to the brink of death multiple times over and conditioning him to the realities of battles that were no doubt to come. Unfortunately for the planet and her people, outsiders were once more allowed onto the soil of a planet and her proud people, bringing about fighting and death over dragon balls and power.
It was shortly after that the Guru of Planet Namek passed of assumed natural causes given his age and the stress of what he had been at the center of, meaning it was soon time for a new Guru to ascend to take his place. By this time Steno was into his fourth decade living at the temple of the sages and he was well aware of the duties expected of him when his training was complete and the next Guru selected. Some saw the comparitively young Namekian as stoic and serious, but those that had interacted with him all those years knew him to be both compassionate and empathetic, though one who took his training and future position very seriously. The time was coming to name the next Guru, and Steno had heard a single name whispered many times; Oboe of Oros Village.
In the midst of a day of hard training the priests of the temp came to him wordless and stood before him, causing the warrior Namekian to stop in mid fight and fall to his knees and bow for he knew what they had come for. A single hand was placed upon his shoulder as he stood to his feet and extended his arms, staring straight ahead. The attendants of the temple rushed to his side as they stripped away his training clothes as more came with multiple different types of new clothing, standing at either side of him. As was tradition, the warrior chosen to become the guardian of Namek's Guru was outfitted in his own garb to signify his position and as a symbol of his own prowess, but it was the head of the temple who decided what exactly this outfit would be.
A father to many, but only biologically to one, the temple head came to meet Steno's gaze as the priests parted to allow him to stand in front of the warrior as he began to undo a piece of armor he wore. Looking to one of the attendants who took his with a confused face, he turned to Steno and presented him with the armor. Slowly the man in front of Steno removed a second piece of armor now from his other arm and handed it again to the attendant, then pointing to a sash, a pair or pants, shoes, and finally leaning down and removing what looked to be protective shin pieces from his own legs and handed them over.
The process was fairly quick as they dressed the warrior Namekian in the designated garb as he stood with four arms extended outward in a rather unique attire to match his unique physical appearance. "Steno, Guru's Shield. You are from hence forth tasked with the protection of the one known as Oboe. You are tasked with the protection of Planet Namek and her people. You are allowed to travel to other worlds as you see fit but the protection of Guru and this planet are your first priorities at all times." There were no responses shared as was tradition as there was no need for affirmation as this was a task and not something that could be denied at this point in Steno's training.
Days had passed as Steno traveled from the temple to Oros village on foot as his final step and final task given by the temple. He stopped only for minimal rest until he reached his destination and was greeted and lead to Oboe who was told to expect him. It had been weeks since Steno had spoken a word and this was how he liked it for the most part, being serious in how he approached this role and all that surrounded it. He had spent decades training his mind, and decades more training his body, mastering the techniques of the Namekian martial arts and learning not only to protect himself but those around him. There was no place in his opinion for naming flashy techniques to yell at his opponents, just powers that were means to an end. The four-armed guardian of Planet Namek's Guru headed for a large ship where Oboe resided, not yet a Guru, but an important figure nonetheless as the one set to be elevated to said position. Steno spent the next day meditating outside of Oboe's residence, his quiet contemplation during this time no different than if he were walking, fighting, or most any other activity as he was a man of few words. He took his upcoming duties seriously, and while he wasn't simply a mindless follower, he was a child of Namek and now the protector of the soon to be Guru, which meant he had an important task ahead of him.
TECHNIQUES: Three normal slots unless stated otherwise (*NOT SIGNATURES). Some species start out with 4-5 techniques.
OFFENSIVE/DEFENSIVE TECHNIQUES:
[B1] Ki Barrier: Through some proper Ki Manipulation, you've gained the ability to summon a barrier made of Ki! Protects you with power equal to 33% of your current PL. If an opposing technique beats your barrier, and the Barrier user is within 60% of the attack's PL, the damage is halved. (IE: If a Ki Barrier had 2,000 PL, and was broken by a 3,000 PL attack, the bleed-through damage would be 500 PL instead of 1,000). If the Barrier user is lower than 60% of the incoming attack, the damage reduction is only 25%.
[UB2] Super Ki Barrier: Through some proper Ki Manipulation, you've gained the ability to summon a barrier made of Ki! Protects you with power equal to 66% of your current PL.
[MB3] Ultra Ki Barrier: Through some proper Ki Manipulation, you've gained the ability to summon a barrier made of Ki! Protects you with power equal to 100% of your current PL.
[SIG] Guardian: As the protector of Oboe, Steno has become accustomed to protecting others and rarely thinks twice about stepping in front of another to protect them. With the extension of his arms he created a wide wall of energy that can be extended as needed to blunt incoming techniques of varying degrees.
> Enhanced Defense - +33%
> Teamworker - If used to defend for another character, regain 1 KP
[A1] [Unnamed Technique]: Creates the equivalent of a baseball sized condensed ball of energy in his palm that can be thrown in varying manners once formed. The technique has no proper name as Steno doesn't find it specifically important enough to name as it is only a tool to him. [33% PL Damage]
[VA2] [Unnamed Technique]: Steno uses his energy sensing ability to gauge the power and type of energy from his teammates in order to change his ki just enough to merge his technique with someone able to do similar to increase the power of both and create a new technique temporarily. The technique has no proper name as Steno doesn't find it specifically important enough to name as it is only a tool to him. [33% PL Damage Merging]
SUPPORT TECHNIQUES:
UTILITY TECHNIQUES:
Four-Witches Technique [UT1]: Through some method you are capable of producing two additional arms(or arm-like appendages!) that sprout from your back, these limbs provide no extra power in and of themselves but to provide you with extra fists to punch your opponent and extra hands for grappling AND punching. This technique uses 0 KP in a KP Battle
Energy Sensing [UT]: Via some method you are capable of feeling the natural energy of living beings, you have an understanding of the power level of other non-android warriors and can feel the power of the attacks they are using compared to your own. This technique is Passive not requiring activation and uses 0 KP in a KP Battle, Energy Sensing does not work on Androids.
Bulking [UT]: By some means, usually via a significant increase in muscle mass, you increase your offensive power at the cost of your defenses, this results in an increase of your offensive PL by +x1 and a decrease of your defensive PL by -x3. You must have a transformation that provides at least +x3 defensive PL to use this technique. Using Bulking costs 0 KP in a KP Battle. It must be active for at least two turns before being deactivated (including the turn it was activated on), and can only be deactivated at the end of a turn, after completing all necessary defensive calculations.
Work Out [Assist Sig]: In addition to it’s normal effects your Power Weighted technique now only reduces your defensive PL by -x1 instead of -x3. It otherwise functions identically to the normal Bulking Technique.
Multi-Form [UT1]: Through this technique you can create a copy of yourself dividing your power evenly between yourself and a single copy (50% each). Multiforms operate as their own fighters- they manage KP and use techniques as if they were two separate people! They can merge back together after responding defensively to any attacks your foe may have thrown, but take the damage from the most damaged copy and the copy with the least KP. Signatures can only be used once per thread, as well as certain racials regardless of which copy uses the technique.
