Although Vegeta’s inhospitality invited no thoughts of bliss in the souls of the craven and the milksops, Kalabas saw an unparalleled beauty in its sights - Tuffle Capital, forever crumbling yet eternal; the Saiba Wastes, where life thrived even in death; Cacumber Capital, a monument to all that was saiyan and good, and countless more deserts, crags, and hellholes of that kind. In his walks Kalabas visited all these places, in each remembering some time or other he had spent there - in his earliest youth or but months ago, all his recollections of home felt like snippets of something dreamt up by another person. It was old news at this point, but it still addled him just how… untouched everything and everyone looked. The saiyan people had returned to the old beats of daily life as quickly as the wild saibamen that Kalabas was having for dinner, well, not exactly. Saibaflesh tasted like battery acid and was about ten times as disagreeable to the stomach, which was why destron escargot was the dish chosen by the Duke. Its vaguely hallucinogenic aftertaste, thought the cocky saiyan, would have no effect on him as he had been exposed to the likes of namekian poison dart frog legs - an accident as dangerous as it was delicious. He wrestled the destron snail out of its shell, the moist sting of its arrowed antenna numbing his hand only very vaguely, and slammed the beast against the canyon wall. Stunned, its struggle came to a splashy halt, the thing was put in a stew pot and slathered with butterseed cream, thick chunks of rock garlic, and smothered with a dozen more condiments well beloved by the saiyan people. With the ingredients mixed and mashed as per the strangely violent whims of tradition, Kalabas fixed the lid to its pot and buried it in a narrow hole as deep as his heel. He covered the hole with a thick, flat stone upon which he piled heaps of dry wood; using a flash of ki to set fire to the pyre, he now waited for it to die down. It was in this canyon that Kalabas had fought a ninety-eight other elites to enter the Royal Academy of Strategic Studies, he realized upon finding the school’s insignia carved on the boulder he rested his head again. Or... perhaps this was another canyon, given a similar purpose by the eggheads and generals. Regardless, unwanted memories of the usual absolute trashings and foiled plans of childhood came and went, filling Kalabas with a wish - no, a need - to punch someone in the face. The saibamen he had captured wouldn’t do, as they were already spent and their power sapped by their restraints, but surely there should be someone or something nearing. This was Vegeta, after all, perhaps the only planet where wild beasts were attracted by fire and a promise of a good fight than scared away. PL: 104,000 KP:3/3

The wastelands of Vegeta had proven ideal for training, many beasts had proven adequate target practice for Sensoa as he tried to work on the power within him. The raging inferno within him was proving to be difficult to master, if it was even able to be mastered that is. Sensoa's body was a raging inferno, where ever he walked the fires scorched the lands and burned anything that could be lit ablaze. He had found this place in hopes of training himself out of the eyes of others, because he feared they would deem him weak should he be unable to maintain control. Even now, he sat in a cave, tucked out of sight from the world but he could feel the presence of another. His already burning fury turning this minor intrusion into an issue of great annoyance.
The demon's hand clasping onto the entrance of the cave, the very stone's his fingers lay upon soon becoming blackened before beginning to melt away in his grasp. A feral growl escaping the demon's throat as he tried to pin point the power level. It wasn't until his senses finally pin pointed it that he began heading towards it. He felt blurry headed, feral in a way that he didn't like exactly. He had his faculties in tact but only barely. It was akin to being high upon an adrenaline rush, the feeling euphoric but sickeningly sweet that he was so angry. He had to work himself up to this point, and it took a lot of fortitude to stay like this.
Darting from rock to rock, the demon approached the power swiftly. His new found transformation having not only boosted his powers but his speed as well. It was a trade off he was unsure was worth it, and soon he found his target. It was the saiyan from the Bastion, the one who had annoyed the demon. His feet landing just outside of this 'camp' that the saiyan had made, red eyes glowing brightly as he stared the man down. He would have pounced the man, attacked him and tore him to shreds if it weren't for one simple thing... A delicious aroma made him pause.
Even as he stood there, ready to pounce, his mouth drooling unconsciously and it looked as though he might snap mentally any moment, that delicious smell of something cooking brought his mind to the forefront. The wondrous cooking's of Barban flashing across his mind, the demon forgetting his anger in that moment as a small familiar feeling of happiness creeped into his heart. He forgot about tearing the man to pieces and was brought to the happiness of food. Soon the demon's body shifted back to the white and black skinned form. His Paleness disappearing, his longer hair shorting to the middle of his back.
Once he had reverted the demon took a step forward from the exertion, panting heavily and groaning before placing a hand to his head. The hazing sensation clearing from his mind, the thoughts of rational forming as he realized where he truly was. Before him he knew was an ally, and he immediately felt the shame of wanting to attack his ally. Not as a fight of honor, but to hurt for the sake of hurt. He naturally said nothing of this, looking to Kalabas before shaking his head.
"I er.... Apologize for intruding."
It was an awkward hello, probably liken to the kind one would give when caught doing wrong. Sensoa soon looked off to the side, finding a rock to stare at in his embarrassment. He felt like he had committed a horrible wrong here, but yet he had only just arrived. His thoughts while in that new form having a very heavy weight in the forefront of his mind, feeling guilty despite having done no wrong.
He said nothing else, unsure how else to respond. Perhaps he should leave and let the saiyan be on his own business? But this was his area first, he shouldn't have to leave because this man came along. Yet another tug of war within him kept him standing there, his inner arguments kept the demon standing at the edge of the camp like an awkward teenager unable to speak their mind.

Kalabas took a swig of his bottle gourd - his calabash, in simpler terms - forcing the bitter white-green residue down the hatch along with an entire rainbow of antibiotics and antiseptic drugs… And out of nowhere came a ki signature of power and evilness unseen! “Blast!” he gasped in shock and surprise, spilling drink over his lap as half-dissolved pills trickled from the edges of his lips down the the corners of his mouth. He spat the vile solution, wiping clean his face and throwing the smeared handkerchief to the fire. An unexpectedly high power lever, it appeared out of nowhere and was encroaching on his position fast and determined! The Duke cursed his lack of tail, he wanted to fight whoever or whatever the owner of this strangely familiar energy was, but he had no way to act as anything more than a speed bump - no, if he was going to beat such a creature he would need a crafty clever ploy! He looked at his captured saibamen, his lab rats to-be, perhaps he could lower his signature and use them as bait… and then get the drop on this intruder and kill it with one solid hit! The plan appeared quite simple, foolproof, as many of Kalabas' flukes were. With his power level already in the low thousands, he scrambled to find the remote in his pocket. It was too little too late, the wild power was upon him, and worse still the snail was overcooked, destron-laced smoke told him so! He pulled out the remote, pointed at his prisoners. *click-click* Thirty plants, very small plants, very angry plants, all came crashing against Kalabas, who twisted their heads and ripped their limbs faster than their brains could process, cursing himself for forgetting to first slather his body in pheromones. Bah, he’d capture more beasties later, now there was still time for him to hide in the shadows and-
"I er.... Apologize for intruding."
Kalabas turned, red metal arm pulsating with ki-infused electricity, superheated and calibrated to tear through anything in reach. Its target was a demon who he had the very vague recollection of meeting while he was returning from Arcose under Ramen's care. He scarcely remembered that woeful, boring trip, having spent most of it in a healing tank floating from side to side while listening to radio dramas. Some memories came, Sensoa - if that was even his real name - was a pirate? No, a mercenary, albeit one in good terms with Kayen. He had... joined the Kingdom for thinking the Fleet was weak, Kalabas recalled. At least, the demon had his reasons, they were stupid but nevertheless plausible, as all demons were fickle as that. "We meet again." announced Kalabas, strangely composed for someone so thoroughly drenched in saibaman bloodsap "Heavens above, to have caught me at a time like this. You see, wild saibaman is a delicacy best enjoyed after freshly, and violently, killed." he stepped over the pile of gore, lying effortlessly like a true diplomat, "My stifled power? Why, it is but a tactic to ensure that my escapades invite no strangers. Better have them think that I am a saibaman and leave me be than the Duke of Strongbone, hungry for hostile food and some alone time." He wanted no company, was the core of his message, not because he particularly disliked Sensoa - who he simply distrusted for reminding him of Chamil and the worst parts of Kayen - but because he genuinely wished the calm and resolve that came with introspection. "...Unless, of course, you have some pressing matter that needs my personal attention."

Sensoa watched the duke, his actions spoke of how on edge he was which was to be expected of a saiyan warrior. He was in the middle of no where with numerous hostile life forms and he was clearly knew how to prevent them from attacking him. He had smeared the blood of the saibamen over himself to keep them from attacking or at least that was what Sensoa got from it. He also explained his stifled power to which the demon simply nodded in response. He hadn't really noticed the duke keeping his power in check but decided to simply let it be. He then asked if the demon had any person business with the saiyan, to which the demon shook his head.
"No... I had sensed your power nearby and it made me curious. I meant no offense when I intruded. The food smelled nice enough that I was just caught off guard."
Sensoa said scratching the back of head in thought. He didn't know what to say to the duke, after all he had just intruded into the man's dinner time and caught him off guard. This was awkward for the demon, as he was at a lose for words on how else to proceed. But the first thing that caught his attention was the fact he was a duke.
"I didn't really didn't get to ask, but are you from a royal line?"
His question was simple and to the point. He couldn't imagine the man was related to Kayen and as such found it strange he was royalty if ruled by another. In his realm only his family were royalty, the rest were either cast out or killed on the spot. Even when cast out they were usually hunted down.

Kalabas relaxed now that he knew that Sensoa did not suspect a thing, certain that his reputation was intact. He searched for his handkerchief as the other stated his business, then remembering that he had quite stupidly thrown it into the fire. Sighing, the noble leaned against a boulder, reeking of mint and vinegar and unable to do anything about it. Sensoa was driven by curiosity and gluttony rather than a nigh animalistic want to punch Kalabas into minced meat, which was good to know - an alert soldier is always something of use, but one that does not go around attacking his comrades is something leagues better. Then, the demon asked a very strange question.
“I did not take you for one interested in blood lines, Sensoa.” very few of Kalabas’ acquaintances did, in fact it had been weeks since the Duke last discussed such thing. It was a topic of great interest to him, a matter of identity and legacy upon which he based a great deal of himself. Even the most rotten fruit of his family tree were worthy of remembrance, they were reminders of the Strongbone’s greatest faults, ambition and megalomania “Perhaps, I cannot be too certain. The royals mingle as they please with whomever they please, it is likely that some king or queen in past was caught by the famed Strongbone hair locks, but no records exist to confirm or deny that. I know for a fact that I was not related to the… past dynasty - as you can see I am of far greater height and beauty than Vocado. Not that he ugly or anything of the sort, but his looks are rather plain... He gets the job done, I heard.” Kalabas blinked slowly. Was he gossiping? How long had it been since he last gossiped? And with a demon, no less! “We must talk some more. Care to join me in my repast?”

Sensoa gave a shrug at the other's response to the bloodlines, an inner chuckle at the fact he was a demon prince but hadn't told Kalabas yet. He knew a little of royalty, of the burden it placed on others but also of the great pride one could have... and the shame. So was the way it was and would always be from his exile onwards. He could never return with his honor intact, even after slaughtering his enslavers, his clan would never accept him again. A solemn thought to the contrast of the funny moment but one he didn't linger on.
"Aye, I would like to know more of how Saiyan's royalty works."
Sensoa walked over to the camp site, grabbing a large rock before moving it in place so he could sit down easily. His tail patting the ground as he leaned forward on his seat. It had been a long time since he had been at a camp fire, or well a camp site like this. Years ago he remembered the days when their armies would make camp for the day, resting before they marched on the enemy fortress' or the return to the march. They could fly sure, but when you see a sea of enemies walking in a condensed line, formations made as you march to their front door step. It had more feeling to see the fear in their eyes at the sheer size of your army.
"I was a demon prince once, had the esteemed name of Ghoun and the respect it held. It was an honor and a burden I bore for my clan.... Was that is..."
Sensoa said with a sad chuckle but soon return his attention to Kalabas and with a renewed smile would gesture to the noble saiyan.
"So tell me of your house Duke. I could use a good education on how saiyans work."
Sensoa was for the first time actually interested in history, at least the first time since his arrival in the mortal realm. He wanted to learn about saiyans now, but also on how to not piss them off. As he was already on bad terms with earthlings, he probably didn't want to be rejected by the saiyans who took him in.

Kalabas knew everything about the saiyan waging of statecraft, and next to nothing about the Otherworld’s manner of rule - what he knew he pieced together from Virkalon’s story and Karon’s mumbles, like the thorough oppression of the deceased by ogrekind, chiefed by some enormous round ruddy goatbeard known as Yenmai -, but this talk about clans and the transitory nature of names surprised him. This was a demon thing, most likely, although something he had not noticed in either Chapron or Chamil, perhaps this was the reason why Sensoa had switched sides, it is easier fighting with equals than against them. “Interesting.” Kalabas interjected before he edged closer to the fire, showing as much curiosity as etiquette would allow. He wondered what Sensoa had done to be shunned but dared not to ask, it would be discourteous and he needed to have someone the Queen took a liking to on his side. Little did he know, that little knave Auber had endeared himself already to the cyclops and the duke both.
A normal man would have put out the fire, but Kalabas knew he need not do such a thing. He dove his metal hand deep into the flames and took the cracked stone that sealed the pot in its hole, then he removed the container and set it before Sensoa. From the size of pot it was clear that the meal had been intended for one saiyan - in other words this meant that it could feed a number of the lesser people. Say, to a demon this could perhaps be seen as a dinner and half, but to a growing healthy monkey like Kalabas… well, he hoped that the company would be worth the hunger. “What is there to say about the Strongbones…” a loaded question if there ever was one. The Strongbones were old enough to command respect from most of the elite but not enough to forgo their humble beginnings, to speculate on a more spectacular origin that would greatly improve their standing. Still, it was a story he quite liked, so he decided to start with the beginning, with the first Strongbone “I am not ignorant to what the commoners think, the suggestive nature of my clan’s name, but while I cannot deny the obvious I must say that Strongbone first began as a cognomen with more to do about skulls than loins. We saiyans are a hardy people, we survive defeat and grow stronger from it, victory may taste sweet but it seldom instigates the same level and kind of growth, so imagine, if you will, a saiyan warrior. He hails from the heart of Vegeta, this noble thristing to expand his domain... or is he the leader of some tribe, set on plundering the fresh ruins of the Tuffles? None call tell. Either way, this man holds power, enough to not go undetected by tuffle machinery, who make short work of his men but not him. You see, this Strongbone, the first Strongbone, fights on. His limbs are broken, his tail torn, his spine shattered, and his skull cracked open, his bones are brittle as glass to the cruel talons of the tuffle revenants, what chance does he stand against the vicious engines of a decadent people? Strongbone is left for dead, to be picked clean by the saibamen, but then… something happens.” Kalabas swung his arms up with pride, sending shockwaves and instigating a rockslide a mile away “He refuses to die! The pain is great and his death a certainty, he knows he won’t live to see another day, but on he strides through the Tuffle tombs, back to his people, a sheet of metal welded to his cranium so as to keep his brains in! He does not waste time, as soon as the chance presents itself he summons his mightiest concubine and…!” He stopped, silent for a second, grimacing and flustered “Perhaps... there is some truth in what the rabble says. Either way, this man set a legacy that every Strongbone worth a damn has tried to uphold. On occasion I am reminded of him, more dead than alive, his innards made a jigsaw of, shambling through dunes and fires so as to sire an heir. It wasn’t lust that moved him, I tell you show, but a duty to his people, to his family, to the saiyan race! What worth is a man if there is not one willing to carry on his legacy? It would be as well for him to smother in the crib or not be unbirthed! In the face of oblivion Strongbone endured unimaginable pain, I have nothing but respect for such a man!”
Kalabas took a deep breath. He pried the lid off the pot, revealing the meaty slick purple stew with faint brown hues that was once a snail. Was the dish overcooked? Yes, very, but certainly not enough for it to be offensive to the palate. “I brought no plates and for cutlery I have only one silver spoon. Do you have anything that can be of use?”
