NAME: Brent
ALIASES: Shemorash
SPECIES: Demon
AGE: ~20’s
GENDER: Male
STARTING PLANET: Earth
APPEARANCE: Normal human wearing tux, white gloves, magician hat
BACKGROUND: As a normal human growing up in the world of dragon ball, Brent was never special. The world looked up to master martial artists who controlled their spiritual energies, alien monarchs who could destroy planets, and other god like beings. For someone like Brent, wanting to grow up like these heroes made no sense, he could never be like them. What place was there in the world for someone like him? Growing up disillusioned with the world, Brent found a different pat and philosophy: faking power is just as important as having power. Becoming entranced by the world of magicians, Brent dug through every archive he could of the world’s greatest magicians, fascinated by the idea of people celebrated for being known con artists, not for having power but for faking it. As adulthood grew closer, this aspiration never changed until finally, the man of magic Shemorash would be born and with it- hopefully- his career.
Although Brent attracted small crowds, his aspirations of living as a magician seemed to have failed. No matter how hard he tried, no matter what glamours he fabricated, simple parlor tricks could never compare to the real antics of superpowered warriors. The cost of renting theatres for shows and simply were too great for the meagre income he was earning, and Brent was starting to understand why he had to watch ancient videos of magicians rather than famous more modern ones. The hope however, the dream that someone as mundane as himself could become someone, still lived. Pulling into all of his savings, the only thing keeping him above rock bottom, booked a show at the largest theatre he could afford, buying the greatest props in order to go out with a grand finale. This would be his breakthrough, where he could pull through and show the world was right- he wouldn’t need power, he just had to fake it.
To no one’s surprise but his own, Brent lost everything. He wasn’t a horrible magician, but in this world you had to be truly special to matter. Brent sat outside alone, the wand he had snapped in half laying at his feet as he sat on the ground, head on his knees and all hope gone. He had failed. The hope had been buried, the single ember growing dimly finally smothered into nothing. A single gust of wind in an otherwise still day blew. A small flyer rode on this one gust, landing perfectly in Brent’s outstretched hand. Slowly he raised his head, blinking away tears as he rubbed his eyes in confusion at the paper he held. He stared at the words on the page: “Second Chance for Anyone.”
Having arrived at the seemingly abandoned building, Brent gulped and pulled out the flyer to make sure he had followed the directions right. He frowned, a pit in his stomach growing larger as he emptied his pocket, a paper the same size as the flyer, but without anything on it. For one second, he considered going back home, leaving his scenario out of a horror movie forever, but this second ended as he went against his instincts and opened the door.
Wandering through the empty house alone except for his own thoughts, a low droning soon became audible before becoming louder, now recognizable as a chant. Arriving in a circular room with candles lit, cloaked men came out of the shadows and grabbed him. Forced to be the focus of the horrible ritual, the cult reached their goal being fulfilled. The demon brought to this world, the vessel before them being the new gateway. As the ritual ended, a single word was whispered into darkness, something waking up inside of Brent: “Shemorash.”
Transformed by this ritual with little knowledge of what the events meant, Brent has the lesser powers of the demon, no longer needing to fake power. However a dark whisper in his ear, and soon this whisper will become a thunderous scream.
