There were a myriad of spaceports on Vegeta. Many of them were large and luxurious, featuring far more membership options and accommodations than any creature with a brain could ever hope to need, or even have time to use to full effect.
Some others were a tad more basic. Featuring the bare minimum required to be called a spaceport, these places were cheap enough for the common folk to actually use. Why Vocado was here, he still wasn't sure. Maybe it was to save a quick buck, or maybe to hide himself from Kayen's scouts, though surely she wasn't that keen on keeping an eye on him. No, perhaps instead he was hoping to leave the planet without running into anyone he knew.
Too many people he liked-- and a few he might have repressed feelings for-- were on Vegeta now. Nashua and Ramen, who he'd neglected to speak to in ages. Kalabas, who he'd failed miserably. Hell, even his own mother would be bothersome. Thankfully she was still in shock that the Super Saiyan legend was real.
The alien behind the screen coughed. "That'll be thirty zeni, kid."
It seemed Vocado had drifted off a bit. Losing himself in his own mind was a common occurrence these days.
Apologizing for the holdup, Vocado deposited his money into the slot and moved to his designated pad. The Rat's Worth Spaceport was as uninviting as they came, but at least the takeoff stations were clean.
Dropping his capsule onto the pad, it poofed with the usual flair, revealing the pod within. He'd stricken any Saiyan Kingdom markings from it at a repair shop known for dirty dealings. Not for lack of patriotism, of course. He simply felt it wasn't right to hold their flag high while he resented their leader so strongly. Until he felt ready to free the crown from such a horrid woman, he'd keep himself in exile.
As the pod hissed to life, Vocado couldn't help but wonder. Was this the right thing to do? To find a way to revive the Tree of Might? Surely not. Zucceta destroyed it herself, or at least that's what some historians say. Others say it was ripped from her grasp and crushed by the Kami, and others still suggest the Premier of Earth had it locked away to be studied until the end of days.
Whatever the case, returning an evil to the world would not be looked on by anyone as a noble deed. It was a mark of sin he'd have on his back forever. Had he considered it a year ago, the thought would have been driven from his mind in a moment from pride in his people. Saiyans are barbaric no longer, he heard himself say. His voice was fresher then. Less pain had befallen him.
With a dull sigh, he stepped onto the takeoff pad, and lowered himself slowly into the pod...

If there was one thing Nashua had felt like she'd noticed dwindling in the past while, it was the sense of camaraderie she'd felt among her peers in the Kingdom when they were all working together to reclaim their home. Obviously the Saiyans and their allies all shared a certain kinship, but Nashua couldn't say she felt quite as close to anyone, except maybe Ramen, since after the hunt for the Dragon Balls on Namek. That didn't mean she wasn't still quite happy as things currently were, of course. The galaxy was at relative peace, and those the World Trade Fleet had slaughtered were back among the living, as the Fleet itself hastily retreated into the shadows. And yet it felt like a certain shadow of its own had been cast over things, despite the air of peace. As if something more sinister lurked just around the corner, out of sight for the moment, but growing closer...
Or, perhaps Nashua was simply being paranoid. What she wasn't paranoid about, though, was the fact that a certain someone had been around on Vegeta that she hadn't seen in far too long, who she had been meaning to catch up with, and now he was leaving the planet! A power level as high as Vocado's was far from difficult to track with a scouter, and Nashua found herself speeding through the air to catch up with the former King before she touched down at the spaceport and started to shove past the crowd. "Hey lady!" the alien behind the little ticket box said as she tried to go past the turnstile without paying, "It's thirty zeni to-" Nashua didn't let him finish as she simply threw a fist of coins at him before hopping over the barricade.
"HEY VOCADO!" Nashua shouted out as she spotted the prince lowering himself into his pod, a bright pink ki blast rocketing out of her hand and smacking straight into the ship in front of the Saiyan warrior. It was way too weak to actually damage the pod, of course. Mostly just there to get his attention. She stopped a few meters behind him and bent over, her hands placed on her knees as she took some breaths to refill her lungs. After she'd caught her breath, she stood back up straight, and placed her hands on her hips. "You're gonna come and go without even saying hello or goodbye? What's up with that? I gotta at least see you off to wherever you're headed!"

”Crap!”
Vocado tried to hop into his pod as fast as possible, but it was no use. Nashua’s blast activated the pod’s emergency release lever, re-opening the hatch with a hiss of steam. It seemed this was a meeting that was going to have to happen. If only Ramen had showed up instead. At least she wouldn’t be upset with him for leaving.
As Nashua recovered, Vocado stepped off the launch pad, sighing in defeat. ”I’m sorry. I figured you’d be upset with me so I was just going to slip out before you knew I was here... Maybe I should have suppressed my energy.”
He was still getting the hang of stealth. Even when they were refugee’s on Earth, they never hid their presence unless inside the tundra base, which had a jamming field of its own.
”I’m going to go do something stupid, Nashua. No honor will befall me, and the only songs they’ll sing are the ones about whoever kills me... But I have to. To stop this stupid war machine before it gets off the ground I have to do what I’m gonna do.”
Turning away from Nashua, the once-king stifled one of his nervous tics. He hated keeping things from the people he saw as friends, but if she knew what he planned? She’d be the one to kill him. Hell, out of anyone she probably could do it the quickest. With or without the ruby, it felt like Nashua was already able to outpace Kayen, which meant she’d be able to best Vocado twice as effortlessly.
”Just... Keep everyone safe. Okay?”

It sure was a good thing Nashua had arrived when she did, or she'd have come just short of catching Vocado in time before he blasted off in his pod. She was a fast flier, but not fast enough to catch up to a pod hurtling through space, even if she could hold her breath long enough to survive in the vacuum for a short while. Talking was a lot easier when you were standing on an oxygen filled planet, anyway. Vocado's initial reaction to Nashua's arrival caused her to furrow her eyebrows, but he quickly regained his composure and offered a more eloquent response than just 'Crap!'. That didn't mean Nashua was a fan of the fixed response he did offer, though. "Oh, don't go and lament the fact that you couldn't hide yourself from me," she scolded him. A year prior, she'd have not dared speak to him that way, but things had certainly changed since then, for the both of them.
Nashua placed her hands on her hips and gave Vocado a confused expression as he continued, with the former King speaking of something stupid he was going to do to 'end the war machine'. "Well, if you know it's stupid, don't do it," Nashua quickly responded with a shrug, "I'm not the brightest bulb in the socket, and even I know that much." Whatever war machine was Vocado talking about, anyway? At this point, the war was pretty much over. The Fleet had gone into hiding in the shadows for the most part; only a few were still active that Nashua could name, at least in their section of the galaxy. What was Vocado planning? It certainly didn't sound like a good thing, and it sounded like Vocado himself knew that, too.
"If you know what you're doing is bad," Nashua continued, "Then don't try and convince yourself it 'needs to be done', because, well, it really doesn't. And definitely don't try and do it yourself." Nashua stepped forwards again, there only being a few feet of space between the Saiyans' eyes now, with hers golden and unflinching. "I know you're not the King anymore, but I still have a great deal of respect for you, and your ability to make the best decisions under immense pressure. It's something I don't think I've ever had much of a skill for, myself." Nashua gave Vocado a bright smile. "So, that's why I know I can count on you to do what I know you really feel is the right thing, even if you're trying to convince yourself you have to do some bad thing."

This was what he was worried about. He knew she’d try to convince him otherwise, and he knew she was one of the few who had a real shot at it. Why didn’t he take off somewhere else? Why didn’t he suppress his energy? Why didn’t he just die versus Kayen! That’d make things easier by a long shot.
Standing so close made the once-king nervous. ”Nashua, please. I can’t let myself sit back and watch while we repeat history!” He put his hand over his face in exasperation. For a moment, he tried to step away, but stopped himself. ”You ever pay attention in school? Time and again, our people are the aggressors. Before the old Arcosian tyrants leashed us, we were content with conquering everything anyways. Under their employ we razed cities to the ground; sold planets like candy! And when we were freed from their grasp we did it of our own will.”
He frowned hard. ”I don’t want us to be the aggressors again. Kayen revels in the old ways, and this war with the Fleet is the perfect jumping point to take over the whole system, if not the entire galaxy! Zucceta did it, Habana tried it. I’m sure I would have done the same if I hadn’t been knocked on my ass by Ramen and Kayen.”
Was this something he could argue? He was fighting fire with magma. The Tree of Might was a despicable artifact. Only the vilest people would appreciate its return. Was he vile?
”I’m not strong enough to stop her yet, and I won’t let you or Ramen risk your lives against her. If I do this, maybe I can take her down before everything is in her grasp.”

Well, she had paid attention in school, but that was like, a good seven years earlier by this point. A lot of the stuff she'd learned back then had been replaced by other, more important information - her brain only had so much storage space, after all! Vocado seemed pretty uncomfortable with her confronting him like this, though, that much was for sure. Though, it only made Nashua even more concerned for both his own well being and what he was planning on doing. From the sound of it, whatever he was trying to do was all in the name of taking down Kayen. "Are you that concerned for what she plans to do?" Nashua asked with furrowed eyebrows. "Ramen and I are right at her side in terms of controlling the Kingdom, and Ramen and I both seek peace. I have no doubt Kayen would confer to our judgment first before doing anything too rash."
That was a lie. Nashua did have her fair share of doubts about Kayen, but she was still confident if the Queen tried anything too nefarious, Ramen and her together would be capable of stopping her. In fact, if they were to have Vocado there on their side with them, that made it all the more likely that they would be able to prevent something terrible from occurring. But that required them to all work together. For the moment, though, Vocado seemed to be having something like a panic attack, and Nashua felt the need to help calm him down. The Saiyan reached forward and gently took his hands, her warm fingers wrapping around his cold palms. "Just take a deep breath, okay?" she urged him, "Everything's gonna be just fine, I know it!"
"I mean, we made it this far, and we both aren't dead, right? Sure, we had some pretty close calls along the way, like with Boreal and Chamil and that Mumbo guy, but we're all still here! And it's peaceful, now. For us, anyway. We don't need to all keep fighting so hard - we've got our second chance at a good life, because we earned it." Nashua spoke with calm and firm confidence, her bright yellow eyes still not breaking contact with Vocado's, no matter how he may have chosen to avert his own pair. "And you've earned it, too, whether you believe it or not. So, just rest. Please."

Why did Nashua have to be so... Negotiable?!
Try as he might to look away, she kept her gaze square on him, and he on her. Something stirred within his heart, and it began bouncing in his chest. Kiss her you fool, the voice screamed. Make her your Queen! Stay here and stop Kayen without the stupid Tree of Might. It tried and tried, and those loving golden eyes of Nashua made it hard to disagree.
But he was fated for disaster. Ruin and chaos were his brothers, and he was War. Like Zucceta before him, he would bring out his people’s true strength, and crush those who betrayed them. Only this time he’d fight to end the war machine, not to grease the gears. All he needed was the seed, and then Nashua could rest easy. She’d never lift a finger in his Kingdom.
A new voice echoed in his mind. Rasping and vile. It sounded familiar. Keep fooling yourself, boy. It’s what I did.
”You’re right... You’re so right it hurts.”
He hugged Nashua— as best as he could with a single arm, he supposed. Emotions were exploding in his mind. Hatred and love; desperation and devestation.
”But I need to try my way. She’s got this... Hatred in her. I don’t want you or Ramen to have to face it.”
Vocado pulled away, and frowned. He had tears welling at his cheeks. ”I know its stupid. I’m stubborn and an idiot and whatever else the others will call me when they hear that I left. But I can’t feel useless anymore. All I’ve done since we got home was fail. If I don’t try this one last thing, then I can’t live with myself.”
”Just let me try. Please? Once I’m finished I’ll come home no matter the outcome. If my way fails, we can deal with Kayen together but if I can do this then I have to try.”

Nashua let out a small sigh as Vocado, despite her best efforts, decided he still 'had to do' whatever it was he was planning on doing, which, again, she was fairly positive was nothing good. As the once King stepped forward to give Nashua his one armed hug, she returned it with both her arms, and though she wished she could have just held him there forever and kept him from going off and being a fool, she knew it would make for a fruitless effort. As they parted from each other, Nashua furrowed her brows at the hatred Vocado spoke of. "Hatred, huh...?" she mumbled as she took a step back from Vocado, a frown on her face. Nashua cocked her head back and to the side, a smile on her face. "Well, I don't know if you'd heard, yet," she said, "But I have a little hatred of my own at my disposal, now, too!"
Right on cue, her ki flared up tremendously, and Nashua promptly exploded in a burst of energy, and when the light show had died down, Nashua now stood before Vocado in her Super Saiyan form. She had been wanting to show the former King what she'd accomplished for months, now, and this seemed like the last chance she'd get to do it in a casual setting like this. "I heard you guys both went Super Saiyan in your battle for the crown," Nashua stated, "But I've transcended the limits of our people myself! So when you say you're worried about her power triumphing over me and Ramen's, I wouldn't worry even a little. Because Ramen is somehow even stronger than a SUper Saiyan, herself!" Nashua still didn't know how that was possible, but she was glad it was.
After all Ramen had been through, she'd earned her stripes as a powerful warrior! "So, I'll let you try. I know how important your honor is, to you," she stated, dropping out of the form and back into her brown haired base without skipping a beat. "So you have my blessing to try - as long as you can promise me you'll only hurt bad guys along the way. If anyone gets caught in the crossfire of what you're trying to do..." she paused, and simply gave Vocado a stern look. She didn't really need to finish that sentence, Nashua figured. Vocado would hopefully know better than to go around killing random innocents, or being careless enough to involve other people in his affairs. But if he was foolish or careless enough...
Well, she wouldn't be happy about it.

Vocado had to shield his eyes as Nashua’s Ki exploded around her. The golden light of the Super Saiyan form engulfed her, but it was different. Calmer and more pointed. Like she’d... Mastered it.
”You really are something...”
The legends said it took a pure heart to unlock the golden light. Maybe Vocado wasnt worthy, nor Kayen after him. Nashua was so kind and sweet. So strong. Why wasnt she the Queen? Why couldn’t she lead the people? She was gullible at times, but it further proved her good intentions. Maybe that was the way this era would end. In the hands of a capable and kind leader, with hair of pure and calm gold; not violent yellow.
He needed to be more like her.
”Thank you, Nashua. I swear I won’t harm anyone unless they’re truly vile. I won’t even hunt the Dragon Balls unless I get the Guru’s permission.”
With that, Vocado hopped back onto the landing pad, and opened the hatch of his ship once more. He smiled warmly at her, and held back the last thing he wanted to say.
”I think I love you. You’re the best Saiyan I’ve ever known. Please come with me so we can wish for something good instead.”
”See you soon,” was what he said instead.
And with that, his pod slowly closed, and if she didn’t stop him, it’d blast into space.

Nashua felt she could rest a bit easier after Vocado promised he wouldn't lay his finger to harm anyone who wasn't of a blackened heat. He'd even seek the Guru's permission before he hunted them! That was something Nashua was pretty sure the Kingdom had neglected in the last hunt, though that had largely just been out of their desperation to make sure they could secure themselves the Balls before the Fleet was able to. Which, they had! And then, she did it a second time on Earth by herself, though she'd gotten their version of Guru's permission, that time. So, it was good to see Vocado playing by the book. That didn't mean all of Nashua's concerns had washed away, though. The question of what it was that Vocado wanted to wish for still remained, and from the little hints about it that he'd given her, it wasn't going to be something good.
"Yeah, see you," was all that Nashua replied with some slight worry in her tone of voice as she watched Vocado get into his pod, and, shortly after, take off into the stars. The Saiyan woman stood still, with her slightly concerned eyes watching the little sphere blast off higher and higher in the sky, until it finally disappeared from her vision. Well, he was off. And she wasn't sure she'd ever see him again in a peaceful setting like this one. Nashua bit her lip, and glanced around. She was at a slight impasse, now. She wanted to stay on Vegeta and continue to make sure things ran as smoothly as they could, but, at the same time, what Vocado wanted to do on Namek could have also threatened the peace on Vegeta she'd fought so hard to achieve.
It took a few moments of deliberation until a sigh finally escaped Nashua's lips, and she turned around, exiting the station and beginning to walk back to her home. She'd decided. She had to follow him and make sure nothing bad happened, both to him and because of him. But, first, she had to go let her parents know where she was going. They'd gotten pretty pissed at her the last time she'd jumped off in her space ship to go try and save another planet, and she wanted to avoid that lecture again. Plus, her mom had said something about a makeover? Whatever that was.
