UP AND RUNNING| Ramen's PL: 12,000 (Base 150,000 - Energy Setting) |
Not much had been left behind after the Saiyan Kingdom left Namek to recapture Vegeta. The temporary base they had set up in the Outer Plait was just that, temporary: to her memory, it had been some of their non-combatants that had helped to tear down the old base and return some of the capsule buildings to storage. But there was still at least a little left to salvage. A couple of the buildings had been left upright, likely due to malfunctioning capsule technology, while the outline of the base could bread in trodden paths, along with the little stone wall she had her recruits build to shield the location from any sudden lava flow from the nearby volcano. It was almost a little depressing, but it was a familiar location -- somewhere to call home for the next few weeks, or however long this trip took her.
She had taken nearly half an hour that morning to take stock of the buildings that were left. One had been the dining hall, and though the food had all been packed up and taken to feed the army in its reconquest of Vegeta, the facilities remained in place. A kitchen large enough to feed an entire expedition, let alone a single inhabitant, along with all the implements: knives, forks, pans, other such implements. Depending on how long she was here, it might be useful to supplement the dry rations she'd brought along. The other building was one of the medical facilities, but to her disappointment all of the actual healing equipment had been taken out. Possibly scavenged, given the state of the place. Afterwards, she made her way back out to the main compound and tossed her own capsule into the dirt. A smaller building, a house about the size of a modest apartment, burst into view. For at least a little while, the base would no longer be abandoned -- even if it wasn't exactly Kingdom territory anymore.
Although she wasn't exactly expecting any serious threats on Namek at this point, she opted to take some necessary precautions. Her spacepod, nestled out of sight around one of the cliffs, had its communications equipment turned off. Her scouter was similarly set up for stealth: activating its communications only once every hour to receive transmissions, mostly to make sure she didn't miss anything important from Vegeta proper. She suppressed her energy similarly, trying to lower it to what she imagined might be an average Namekian's strength: though in truth, she might still have overshot it a little.
The only real problem was that, for about half an hour while she prepared everything, an electronic signal was being emitted from the base's location, where once all had been silent. A strange abnormality on any sensors to go along with a lone signal in one of the least hospital places on Namek. Even without that, the base was a little out in the open: its greatest defense had always been how remote it was. But anyone travelling through the Outer Plait had a good chance of merely stumbling upon it. Either way, she would take her chances with that -- and once the little base had been made functional once more, if dramatically downsized, she took to what remained of the sparring yard and began to run through her usual, routine exercises.

Kraktus scouter beeped the man pulling himself to his feet. He held his head a groan escaping his lips. He had been sleeping, resting himself for the days ahead. Too much work to do and not enough time. The war had to be built and he was not working fast enough to get it set up. Worry was creeping into his mind what if he failed? What if the war he had sought never came. Kraktus pulled himself to feet ready to smash himself through the stone. He could not fail to even think was a weakness that had to be purged. He'd checked his scouter, a nearby powerlevel had been caught. That was good, he was glad someone was around. <12,000> was not something he had to worry about but maybe pumping someone who could take a few shots before going down would allow him to refocus.
Kraktus stepped out of the cave he had been resting in ki swirling to life around his body before he flew off towards the location his scouter was pointing out. When he arrived he didn't see anyone. His scouter was still picking up power but it was having a hard time pip point the location. "I suppose this is what I get for not having it ready to go," Kraktus grunted, he really needed to have it checked up on. Being smashed around probably had damaged the damn thing. "I know someone here where are you." Kraktus stalked about his arms at his side. He someone didn't see Ramen he just walked around stumbling upon the old base. He'd scanned around. "Hello?"

Thread Power Level: 139,000
Vocado shivered.
Not because it was cold. Heavens no. The lava bubbling in the distance took care of that. His body tremored because of where he was flying over. Below him was a familiar site, though not all of it was present at the current time.
Months ago, the Saiyan Kingdom had an official base of operations here. While they collected the Dragon Balls, a large camp had been erected in the magma-strewn wastes of the Northern Scar. It wasnt perfect, but it kept them hidden well enough at the time. The harrowing part about being here again, however, was seeing the wounds of battle.
They never did much cleanup after Vocado and Kayen took their turns pummeling one another. Not long after, the wish to increase their strength was made, and they blasted off for Vegeta. The only remnants of their camp were tents they’d never bothered packing up, and the ones that were trampled by Vocado or Kayen.
On any other day, he’d have kept flying. He had to meet up with Nashua and the others, let them know that Yogu was dead. But today felt off. The blood was still caked on his cheek and chest, and it made him pause. So much bloodshed was hard to ignore, even for a Super Saiyan. Maybe reminiscing would help clear his mind... Even if the camp was a sore spot.
With a quiet tap he landed in the center, one boot leaning on the edge of a large crater. The place seemed so much more lively back then, but now that the soldiers weren’t scurrying about, the truth of the camp was hard to ignore. It was a war zone, but the only enemy they ever fought was themselves.
His thoughts, harrowing as they were, had been interrupted by a sound. Someone scurrying about was calling out for others curiously. The voice sounded familiar.
Turning a corner, Vocado found his target. Across from him stood Kraktus. The squid-faced fool was always nosing around somewhere.
Raising a brow, Vocado leaned against a particularly sturdy tent, and sighed. ”Looking for scraps, septipus?”

UP AND RUNNING| Ramen's PL: 12,000 (Base 150,000 - Energy Setting) |
For several minutes, Ramen ran through her drills with practiced precision. At this point, she wasn't even entirely certain if they did her much good: early on in her career as a martial artist, these routines helped her hone her movements and kept her fit. But with the kinds of harsh training and even harsher battles she had since been subjected to, it wasn't even really enough to get her heart-rate up. But maybe keeping her eye on the basics would yield some sort of long-term result: after all, a disregard for the fundamentals was one of the greatest weaknesses exhibited by the powerful aliens she had fought on this very planet, near this very base.
She steadily began to pick up the pace, moving past the usual slow and precise drills towards something a little more hectic. In her effort to push herself towards some kind of proper exercise, she managed to miss both of the powerful energies approaching -- until, in one sharp move, she whirled around and let loose a powerful kiai with both hands. Dirt and grass was kicked up from the ground, loose stones sent flying through the air. While she mercifully missed out on damaging the base, a moment more of pressure sent a crack running through the ground as yet more ground was sent dislodged and flying. Damage to the environment was par for the course for someone at her level, but that very kiai was inadvertently directed... in the exact wrong place.
A familiar face turned the corner to meet another familiar, if less friendly soul: and that powerful Kiai rocketed towards them, with all the wind, stone, and upturned dirt that came with it. They had plenty of time to move, but she winced even before she saw how the shockwave landed: even at the worst of times, she wasn't usually prone to sending a random attack hurdling towards one of her old friends. Even the evil squid deserved a little better than that.
"--Crap, sorry!" she shouted over the sound of her own attack.

Kraktus scouter blinked. Guess it decided to turn on at the best time. He'd turned to check who was looking at him. Vocado was around. He'd checked his scouter showing him a massive power which he ignored. He knew he was not as strong as Kayen. "Scraps I don't need anything from all of you." As he was about to make a joke at his expense he felt the powerful wave of energy. The dust and rocks covered him a frown forming on his face. He'd quickly dusted it off as his scouter picked up the other power. That would be Ramen. He'd looked over then back at his numbers on his device. "So you can suppress your Ki." He saw that in Bloom guess it made sense for Ramen as powerful as she was to be able to do that. "Guess I wandered to the wrong place wrong time. What are you all looking for? Courage prehaps?" He'd asked Vocado he really cared more for him then Ramen. She was strong but Vocado he felt could still be converted.

Their conversation was cut into surprisingly quickly. With a flash of Ki, a third entrant arrived, splashing dirt and debris his and Kraktus’ way. The Saiyan was quick to avoid it, deftly leaping skyward, before landing exactly where he was, though this time a few inches taller. Ramen’s attack had given him an accidental pedestal to stand on. Even still, he was shorter than the both of them.
He turned and snapped at her. ”What— You trying to take the crown I don’t have again? When the hell did you even get here anyways?”
Kraktus was as annoying as ever, inquiring as to what the two of them were looking for. Vocado simply pointed to his blood-stained armor, a sneer on his features. ”Some new armor might be nice. Maybe I’ll rob you of yours once I rip the rest of your tentacles off. I always thought green looked good on me.”
Why did the Fleet-born fools always have to irritate him so much? He liked it better when he was alone with his thoughts.
”Did Nashua call you,” Vocado asked Ramen curiously. ”I told her I could handle this alone. And I did. Yogu’s gone now; he won’t be monologing over any more corpses.”

UP AND RUNNING| Ramen's PL: 12,000 (Base 150,000 - Energy Setting) |
Ramen rested her hands on her hips as she regarded the alien before her. She had only encountered him once before, but his attitude seemed about the same. He was definitely a sarcastic one, to say the very least. "Energy suppression is a basic skill," she replied. "If you can't do it, then I have to wonder if your priorities are in the right place with your training. But I suppose you could say that for most of you 'alien conqueror' types."
She then turned her attention to Vocado, giving him a bit of a look in turn. She couldn't exactly blame him for the sour greeting given her mistake just moments ago, but it did strike a nerve. "--Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's been like two weeks since the last time someone challenged for a crown, so I figured, why not?" she huffed and shook her head. "I came because I wanted to come, to make sure nobody misuses the Dragon Balls. They're too dangerous -- if you can imagine what the world would have been like if Boreal or Chamil had of gotten their wishes, then you can see full well why I would want to come here."
On that note, she reached up to pinch the fabric of her leather vest. Unlike the last time she was on Namek, she had opted to come here looking decidedly Earthling. "I'm not here as a representative of the Saiyan Kingdom. They have their own problems to deal with, and the Dragon Balls won't fix them. I'm just here as someone that wants to make sure no crazed arcosians, demons, alien warlords or other idiots make away with a wish that could screw over the rest of the world."
She glanced across the abandoned base for a moment, a bitter thought coming to her. "You would think the Namekians in all their pretend wisdom would just deactivate the balls and spare their planet the strife."

"Yes it is a basic skill but it is nothing something everything has." Kraktus narrowed his eyes at Ramen. "But I don't need to worry about hiding my power from most. I have the ability to hide my power from anyone without scouters. So I have no need to hide my ki from most people." He really didn't need to tell her that but he also didn't want her to think he had not thought about learning how to suppress his power. "Oh?" He'd looked as Vocado as he asked if Ramen was there to take the crown he didn't have? Guess she was really top tier. Vocado was a Super Saiyan he imaged that meant Ramen was at least able to keep up. He wondered what power she could have to gain such strength. "Oh protect the dragonballs." Kraktus chuckled. "Now that is surprising. You used the dragonballs before to grant power. Seems to me your only here for that. To increase your power that little bit more to control your justice." Krkatus sarcastically stated.
"Oh Boreal, Chamil." Kraktus laughed. "You were worried about those punks. I don't even know that second one. As for Boreal, he was too arrogant. I was hoping he would face Kayen in the great war but instead, he decided to get himself killed. You talk of a world if they got their wishes. But about the world, you made by letting yourself grow so strong. It leads to the arrogance of goodness has it not." Krkatus flashed a grin. "Thinking you should come here to guard the orbs of magic. I assume you'll use them to make your powers even stronger than before. Might let your heads touch the clouds." He'd looked over the two of them. He wondered if it was wise to be so arrogant in his words. Ramen was no threat, she was a fool. Vocado however, he had seen his strength and how he was seemed more willing to take him seriously. His strength was in not being taken as a threat despite being such a worthwhile thread.
Yet When Vocado noted the Death of Yogu his arrogant got the better of him. Kraktus body began to shake a gutturally laugh escaping his lips. It sounded like the gasp of a dying man. "Gehahahahhahaahhahaah." He'd raised his head laughing into the sky. "I'm so glad. That Kid deserved to be in hell. That little worm thought he was some good man. Look at him now being killed by you. Yet I still stand. I didn't realize you liked me so much." Kraktus walked forward passing over Ramen. She did say something he felt obligated to respond too but he was more interested in rubbing in Vocado's face he killed Yogu. That was just priceless. "That poor lad always liked to get over his head. Raided my ship for Info and bam. blew that ship up thought I blasted his corpse to ash. Guess I should thank you for killing such a man of nobleness or supposed nobleness. I told him and i'll tell it to you as well, when you're near your death you reveal your true colors. So when he killed the young boy. What color was his? Black of his vile evil or white of good?" Kraktus chuckled staring down the former king with glee.

So Ramen had come of our own volition? No Kayen or Nashua had summoned or ordered her. Sometimes he forgot how wild Ramen was. She was an Earthling, after all. They were known for their unrelenting spirit. Her intentions, though, worried him. She was here to protect the Dragon Balls from misuse... Which was the exact way Vocado wanted to use them.
”Lots of unsavory types like to visit Namek nowadays,” Vocado said, gesturing toward Kraktus as he did. ”I appreciate the swing-by, but you only need stick around if you want to. Nashua and I are keeping things in check, and the only real threat to Namek’s peace was just slain.”
Kraktus seemed delighted by this news. One less fellow scavenger to fight with for scraps, he supposed. His question was posed in an interesting way, though the once-king had a response ready in moments.
”It was red. Because he was human. It wasn’t his fault he’d been possessed, but I didn’t exactly have time to get him to an exorcist when he was throwing me around.”
Vocado rolled his eyes. Even with how he felt about having to kill the kid, he wouldn’t let it show through in a conversation with Kraktus of all people.
”What a strange bunch we are...”
With a crack of his neck, Vocado turned on his heel, and rummaged through the tent closest to him. In it, he found a few cans of food, and tossed one to each of his companions. ”Hungry? We can passive-aggressively chat over a campfire if any of you feel so inclined. The weather’s great this time of year, after all.”
If they agreed, then Vocado would move past them to a collection of ruined supplies nearby. The crumpled heap of boxes and crates had been left behind by the Saiyan Kingdom when they packed up and ran home, but it found a purpose now. With a quick energy blast, the pile was alight with flame. A dull crackle now, but it’d pick up in strength soon.
Moving a tipped-over crate into position, Vocado sat on it with a dull sigh, looking into the fire as he beckoned the others. ”Grab a chair. We’ll talk of shoes and ships and sealing wax; Maybe catch up on one another’s lives. Surely yours has been just miserable, Kraktus. I’d love to hear about how you lost the tentacle.”

Ramen pinched the bridge of her nose as she listened to Kraktus speak. They hadn't met a whole lot, but when they did, it always seemed to end up like this: there was just about nothing about this man that didn't seem off to her. He was loud, he was presumptuous, and to her, half of what he was saying didn't make any sense. She actually snorted at the arrogance of goodness comment, raising her hand to try to get a word in. "--I'm sorry, but what was that about? We used a shared power wish to secure the liberation of a conquered planet, but we're not running around telling people we're some sort of gift to the world. I think you're projecting your own jealousy onto us, for whatever reason," she let out a dramatic, if forced, sigh. "The Stargoons always used to talk like that, too. Even the ones that are likable don't seem to understand how the world works. I'm sad you're following them in that."
She frowned at the mention of Yogu, only now remembering just who they were talking about: the loudmouthed youth had been annoying, but she didn't think he really deserved to die. But she knew just as well as anyone, sometimes, people died in fights. Sometimes it couldn't be avoided. For that, she offered Vocado an understanding smile before following his example. A campfire with the alien conqueror wasn't her idea of a pleasant outing, but it was better than laying around with nothing better to do. She kicked a bit of rubble from the hastily-constructed walling over towards the would-be campfire spot, taking a seat there. She offered an awkward, and again rather forced smile Kraktus' way.
"I guess we can insult each-other more comfortably like this."

"Red huh." Kraktus hummed, he had to admit he was hoping for a different answer. He wanted to rile up the King and see what he'd do but instead, he got such a casual response. Guess the King knew what he wanted so he didn't play the game. Vocado then decided to throw them some food which he caught. He'd looked over it and grunted, what game was this now? When he offered to keep the chat going he shrugged. He could learn a lot from talking to the two powerful warriors. He wanted to get a good idea of the people they were and talking to them here and now was the best time for that.
What was more interesting however was Ramen who decided to pipe up and try to tell the General off. He supposed he'd have to tell her why she was not in his league. "I have nothing better to do. Afterall I cannot defeat either of you at the current moment. No need to start a fight." He'd looked back at Ramen. "Liberation of a conquered planet? Oh, you mean planet Vegeta." Kraktus snickered lightly. "So you freed the planet and gave it over to a pirate queen. How lovely. At least Vocado over here was someone of the importance of that garbage heap. Kayen is a pirate and a bad person. I don't say that lightly, afterall if anyone should know bad people it's me." Kraktus narrowed his eyes at Ramen before looking over at Vocado. He still had a lot to say to Ramen but Vocado words caught in his throat.
Kraktus rolled his shoulders back veins forming on his forehead. He did not want to remember those occasions. Tentacles being damaged was a sign of weakness in Zoonmite culture. The limbs were prized possessions and signs of one's strength. He was considering lashing out but held it, he'd get nowhere attacking a super saiyan. "I've not lost it. It has just been damaged and this is not the only one." He lifted the tentacle on his farthest left showing that it has been cut as well is only half the size of the others. "This one i'm holding was cut down when I was looking to replicate the Zenaki agiasnt an Aroscian named Thaw. Eventually, I did catch up to him and I punished him badly on many occasions. Now to my knowledge he's run off somewhere. As for this one you noticed. A woman called Banshee cut it's off and sent me flying away from a battle. I've not taken my vengence yet but she shall pay for such an insult eventually. I am willing to wait for that sweet vengence."

”A pirate’s better than a Changeling, I suppose.” Vocado rummaged through the box he was sat on, and fished out a couple of drinks. A bit too warm to be enjoyable, he supposed, but any drink was better than nothing. He tossed his companions each a can, but didnt bother to read the labels.
Cracking open his can, he sneered at the bitter and far-too-warm taste. ”I’ll get it back eventually. The Saiyans aren’t going to fall to ruin without me, though. They’ve dealt with far worse crowns than Kayen. Ever hear about The Council? Bunch of haughty old prunes who decided to take the crown together. Lined the Solar Empire in red tape and found ways to fill their own pockets. And if you tried to challenge them for the crown, it was a four-on-one match since they took the crown together.” Though he spoke of it bitterly, that part of Empire history was his favorite. It was on the cusp of Vennel’s usurping of the crown, as well as the eventual fulfillment of the Super Saiyan legend from both her and Zucceta. They were the first in over a thousand years. Far more impressive than himself or Kayen.
”You wanna see bad men? Look them up. Nothing but evil ran through their veins.”
Kraktus’ explanation of his missing tentacles was interesting. He seemed to hold quite the grudge on those who took them away. It reminded him of the pride Saiyans felt for their tails. Only difference was the volume of extra limbs, he supposed.
”Well, at least I’m not the only cripple here.” He raised his can. ”To lost limbs and vengeance.” He took a hearty gulp, and his features scrunched up at the taste.
”Speaking of cripples,” Vocado turned to Ramen. ”How’s the Queen doing, anyway? Send any babies into space yet?”

Ramen rested with her hands braced against the piece of stone barrier she had pushed on over. It was a little strange seeing the alien have a somewhat cordial discussion, even if his comments were undoubtedly laced with some hidden malice. All the same, she listened without interrupting, until his point about Kayen. She could already tell this would be a sticking point, especially with Vocado sitting right there. "I don't think she's a pirate anymore," she corrected with a shake of her head. "I know she did a lot of awful things before, but I don't think that makes her a criminal now. I didn't want her to win the throne when she showed up, but Saiyans have their... ways of deciding these things, I suppose. I'm willing to put enough faith in her that she isn't quite as bad as you're suggesting."
She glanced to Vocado at that, fully expecting a harsh response from the once-King. He was the one that had the most reason to hate her, though she also wondered if he might not also have reason to respect her. "--She's not that bad," she raised, again playing the part of defender for her unlikely friend. "Not that I've seen, anyways. She's tended towards showing a little more mercy than I would have expected when she first showed up. I think maybe Nashua is having some sort of effect on her. The only person who's really taken any offensive action was me, when I -- ah, flew to Arcose and blew up a few buildings."
She cleared her throat, but hurriedly moved on to the next point. This wasn't the time or place to discuss that whole mess again. At least not unless they were burning with curiosity about the affair. "Nobody is sending any babies into space," she stated, matter-of-factly. "As much as I've grown to like Kayen, I wouldn't stand for her doing something like that. I wouldn't stand for her attacking peaceful planets, either. You really don't have to worry about her doing anything wrong, because -- well, all the power in a Kingdom isn't really in the crown, is it? The crown gets its power from the people it's commanding, and if they decide the orders aren't right, y'know..."
She waved her hand: a simple gesture, meant to state the unneeded conclusion to that sentence. "--But it won't come to that. Because she's not that bad..." then, her expression turned to a small smirk as she side-eyed Vocado. "And if she is, maybe I'll just force some Earth-styled democracy on you Saiyans. It does seem that being able to hit the hardest in one particular fight is a poor way achieve a stable government."

"Pirate's better than a changeling. I didn't expect you to be racist." Kraktus grinned slightly at Vocado. To be fair most of the Aroscians were terrible people. Even the heroes were a bunch of rotten men. Then Vocado began to spin a story about some Council. "Can't say I have. I've not studied the history of the Saiyan Empire so deeply. Just made sure to read up to know a bit and pieces of the last three empress. Afterall all of them became super Saiyans." Kraktus explained as he brought his hand into the air. The story was pretty good, some saiyans trying to hold onto power so they fought as a team. "Guess it made them weak. Weak men don't hang on others to project strength. Plus Evil is so subjective. Some Cranky old man holding the throne of one planet is not evil. Not in my eyes." Kraktus flashed another grin at Vocado.
Kraktus could not help but burst into laughter when Ramen spoke about the Queen. She was really trying to make her look good. He really wanted to say something but he held his tounge. He wanted to listen to them first before cutting in. Afterall they were all talking right now no need to be rude. He could learn so much if he didn't let his hubris take over. Ramens word to him was laced with poison everything came to him as excuses. Trying to cover up the truth. Maybe she knew it to be a fact but she didn't accept it. This was another reason he didn't take her seriously. She was walking along with strings pulling her body. Even if she didn't realize it. Kraktus shook his head sadly "What a pity." Kraktus Sacarstically spat clutching his heart in mocking sadness. What a joke she was, despite being so strong she was blinded by false hope. Kraktus finally cut in when she spoke of maybe reaching a state of Earth Style Democracy. "Democracy is the death of strong if you think she'd ever let that happen you're a fool. This is why I don't take you seriously. You're weak not in body you've beaten me down before I did not forget. Vocado gave a history lesson before so shall I."
He'd learned in closer looking at Vocado. He didn't doubt Vocado would love what he was about to say. "Three of us in a bar. It was before that Fool Boreal somehow was defeated by that Rat." He had forgotten that goats name never meet them but however they were he'd hoped they burned well. Boreal death had been set back, a big one. "Kayen and Boreal sitting and talking yet you know who sat among them as the third man. Me." Krkatus looked over at them "Oh and what they were talking about so Juicy. You would not believe what they had planned." Kratkus leaned back sighing. "War was what she wanted. She wanted a war to sharpen the blades of her people. Well, people, soon to be afterall this was before she cut your arm off and hanged up on her wall I'd image anyway." Kraktus sighed agian looking to see how each of them was reacting to what he had to say. "She was ready to fight the war to end all wars. Not be weak like all the past Saiyans of her blood. Don't remember which saiyan but she did say the strongest. Makes me assume Zucceta or that Habana. I assume you know." He'd point towards Vocado. He was hoping the Saiyan would answer his question.
He'd put his hand under his chin leaning even closer. "Both of them seem keen to overlook poor old me. Kayen and Boreal became the first two I told parts of my plan. Something you'd wish to privey too I bet. Boreal I doubt took me seriously, but as I told him Beings who Relish death lurk around. Their hands crushed his throat and sent him to the depths of hell to rot with the rest." Kraktus had no part of his death but he damn was going to relish in the fact Boreal died even if it affected him so badly. "You both know what Kayen's true path is, maybe that why you wanted the throne maybe had the same Idea or wanted to stop it." He'd pointed to Vocado before tapping his forehead. "She wants to be the Empire. Not the head of an Empire but the Empire. The one who forged the empire that surpassed the old Empire." He'd pointed at Ramen then crushed his fist. "She wants to take the only planet the Empire of old could not. Earth."

”Blew up?!” Vocado choked on his drink. ”Hah! Nice stuff. Bet it gave the lizard shrimps a scare. What’d you do after that? Just bounce? Did some hero show up to stop you or something?”
Kraktus seemed to be quite the poetic fellow. Speaking of evil and its moral ambiguity. How one man’s evil is not another’s, and all those other lovely things someone says when they’re trying to cover up their own misdeeds. ”Evil is as evil does,” Vocado replied sharply. ”The Saiyans saw the Council as evil because it stunted the Solar Empire’s growth. I’m sure the Arcosian’s saw the Council as heroes. In that same vein, we saw the Arcosian’s as deplorable bastards when they took our home. Think the average Fleet grunt sees it that way?” He took another drink of his terrible drink. ”Everyone does bad by someone. You just need to be on the wrong side of the coin for evil to show itself.”
Unfortunately, it seemed Kraktus had more on his mind. A secret chat between Kayen and Boreal that he had accidentally stumbled on. Vocado listened with interest, staying silent each time the squid tossed a question his way. Was it true? Did Kayen want to rule it all? She’d never pull it off if that were true.
”She was playing you,” he said, chuckling. ”Both you and Boreal. She said what she needed to get closer to her goal, that’s all. Boreal was a snake with muscle, and you’re a snake without. Besides, if she really wanted all that she’d have already cut down a few planets. Nobody can stand up to her besides Ramen, Nashua and I.”
He side-eyed Ramen. ”Like the girl says, Kayen’s trying her best. She’d have kickstarted the old training programs months ago otherwise... Unless she’s playing the long con.” His gaze met Kraktus, seemingly trying to glare a hole into the alien. ”Think about it. Maybe she’s waiting on the rest of the players to make a move. If the great and mighty Kraktus starts conquering planets, what kind of ruler would she be if she didn’t retaliate? Now its a revenge mission. Avenge the fallen and take a little more, rather than take what’s yours and be punished for it by the galactic do-gooders.” He shrugged, and leaned back, using his Ki to act as if he was reclining his chair. Most of his speech was just to mess with Kraktus, but if that really was what Kayen was up to, then...
”It’s quite a clever play, wouldn’t you say? The only question then is how to rope Earth into it. If that’s really her goal, like you say, then how would she do it while being in the right?”
