"H-TWO? Uh-Oh!" The Gamble faces its Biggest Threat Yet
Casca finds herself aboard the Big Gamble, surrounded by a crowd of people, as tensions rise and stakes are raised.
Situation: Win to advance Threat Level: High Chance of Survival: 50/50
“Do you have any two’s,” asked Riddley.
Staring at her hand, Casca frowned as she handed over the desired card. “How are you so good at these games,” the Saiyan blurted out over the laughter of her opponent.
“Have you seen where you are, Miss,” the alien proclaimed as he motioned to the surrounding Casino. “I believe I’ve seen this game being played here, once or twice,” Riddley finished as he motioned to the bar for a couple more drinks.
“I’m good, supposed to be working,” the young woman protested. Yes, no drinking. It was a shock to Casca as it left her mouth, an obvious indicator to her boss that something was afoot on Namek. Something that left the Saiyan shaken to the point she needed to stay alert, even while under the protection of the Syndicate.
It was unfortunate but the Saiyan didn’t tell Riddley the whole truth of what happened on Namek. What she told him wasn’t a lie, but if he didn’t ask, she felt like she didn’t need to deliver.
Not wanting to open newly healed wounds, the alien changed tactics. “Ah yes, duty calls,” Riddley chuckled as he shot back one of the drinks he ordered. “With all the time you and Mr. Fortuna have been spending on Namek, I’ve forgotten what you do. What do you do, exactly, Miss Madani?”
Casca immediately got defensive. “I do things,” she already reached the cliff. “You know what I do, security and stuff.”
Riddley shook his head as he handed her his headset. “This is Mr. Fortuna direct line to me. Tonight, it is his direct line to you. Secure something,” he eyed the second drink, “for I will be unavailable!”
Waving back at her boss as she walked off the loss, Casca decided maybe it was best to get some air walking the floors of the casino. “I’ll secure something alright,” she stupidly said out loud, clenching her teeth as she looked for anything that needed securing. “Wait and see, prolly secure the whole ship. It’s not that big,” her voice trailed off as she stood awestruck at the bar’s balcony. Bathing in the neon lights from the floor below, Casca’s throat suddenly became dry as she added, “Not that big at all.”
Walking through the endless rows of machines, Casca noticed a comical trend. Everyone has heard of beginners luck; someone is new to something, don’t know the rules, but still, manage to come out on top. Okay, okay, reasonable. And lasts for what, about an hour? Maybe a night? Not all week!
The Namekians wielded and deal’ded with the best Casca has ever seen. Maybe it had to do with their keen senses, being able to read their opponent and make the right adjustments. Maybe it had to do with the fact they could stretch their arms a great distance, allowing them to play five different games at once. Or maybe, it was because they were all —
“Heya, Shymer, question for ya,” Casca said as she waved down one of the ship’s biggest earners. “What’s the deal with the Namekians?”
The yellow alien looked around, puzzled at the strange request. “I don’t see anything wrong with them, Miss,” she acknowledged after some thought. “They win? A lot?”
Casca ignored the comments. “They are sober. This has to be the most peaceful crowd to ever step on the ship. I’m impressed,” she said, remembering it was not too long ago when she was the one stumbling out of bars. “So what have they been drinking? Soda,” the Saiyan asked the entertainer as if she would know about the ship’s logistics.
“I thought that was your job,” Shymer politely asked. “Don’t you do all the inventory and stuff?”
Flashes of a conversation crashed in and out of Casca head. “What, I do things! I know what soda they like. The water kind,” and she tipped over to hide her natural reaction of forgetting to check the ship’s water stores. Trying to draw Shymer’s attention away from the possible disaster, Casca pointed in any which direction as she said, “Hey, I think I hear your sister and I think she's calling for you.”
“Gleem? I didn’t hear anything,” Shymer responded.
“There she is again, why don’t cha go she her, over there,” the Saiyan said as she nudged the confused alien along. Waiting until she was out of earshot, Casca knew what she was forgetting something. "H-2-0," she mumbled to herself. With everything running so smoothly since they opened their doors to the Namekian people, Casca grew lax when it came to her responsibilities of checking the ship's inventory. Thinking they were good due to the rest of the ship's finer things, aka meat and alcohol, being barely touched, she forgot to check the water tanks.
Running into the closest bathroom, Casca flipped on all the sinks.
And squat.
Not a single drop of water fell from the faucets as the Saiyan’s anxiety reached a new level. Booting up the headset Riddley gave her, the young woman tried to radio for help. “Mayday, mayday! The well has run dry! I repeat, the well has run dry!”

Things had been tense as of late, what with Yogu and the issue with the dragon balls and the like. It was actually relaxing to be back on the Big Gamble, running the place. Thankfully, the Namekians had proven a peaceful bunch, and had found the place quite enjoyable. There was, however, one small problem. "It seems the Namekians are having a very high winning streak, compared to regular customers." Keech explained, as he was reading out the financial reports. Flip would have chalked this up to something fishy, but the reason was much more benign. The Namekians didn't drink alcohol. Considering they lived entirely on water, alcohol would wreck havoc on their systems. They tended to keep to drinking water or sparkling water. A couple drank soda, but they tended to keep to water. And you couldn't charge people for water! And this resulted in them having clearer heads and better judgement. They knew when to quite before losing all their money. Thankfully, bets on the fights and the races were able to make up some of the money lost. Even good judgement still results in the loss. It didn't look like they were going to make a major profit here on this trip. But it was a learning experience. When they come here next time, stock up on fancy, non alcoholic drinks. At least it meant they didn't have to worry about preserving the food on the ship. They would be eating fancy for a while. It would go bad otherwise. The employees were appreciating the fancy meals. And then suddenly, Riddley's hotline sprang to life. But it wasn't Riddley's voice on the other end. He was surprised to hear Casca's voice shouting about the well? What was she on about? "Casca, what are you doing on Riddley's security line? And for that matter, where the hell is Riddley?" he swore if Riddley was off drinking and flirting again, he was smacking him upside the head. "And what do you mean 'the well is dry'?"And that point, there was another call. Flip blinked and answered the call. He heard Gleem's voice on the other end. "Sir," she spoke, "There's no water on the Big Gamble." Flip's eyes bulged. The fact that Gleem, as ever, was calm about the whole thing didn't help matters. "What!? Who was keeping an eye on the water levels in the place?" Keech cleared his throat. "Erm, I believe Casca was, sir." Flip's eyes narrowed. Casca had been busy with other things planet side. "There are five hundred employees on this ship, and not one of them noticed the water tanks were running low?"Casca

"H-TWO? Uh-Oh!" The Gamble face its Biggest Threat Yet Casca couldn’t be the reason Namek didn’t work. She wouldn’t let it. “ I got an idea, stay tight,” the young Saiyan conveyed over the radio to Flip. “ The ship will not go down tonight, promise.” No explaining would make up for the fact someone forgot the precious wada, maybe a Saiyan, maybe not. There was finally something that needed securing and Casca found an opportunity to prove herself after the Namekian have been so good to them. Ditching the headset as Flip began to speak again, Casca removed the security uniform to reveal her tactical suit and armor as she carelessly darted down the endless rows of gambling machines. Like a hurdler, Casca maneuvered over and around the playing tables stopping only slightly as she heard Shymer and Gleem begin the night’s entertainment. “ Perfect, now I can’t hear myself think,” she said as she heard the music as she rounded the corner. “ I like this song,” Casca barfed out as she ran into a Namekian family trying to enjoy the concert. “So,” said the small Namekian child. Casca poked her tongue out at the boy trying to make him laugh, nope. “This Saiyan is making fun of me,” the child complained to his parents. “ Shh,” Casca suggested as she tapped the boy on the crown of his head before after-imaging away from the conflict. Beginning the pursuit anew, the young Saiyan felt she needed to scoot quickly before more Namekian families became disgruntled. Running towards the threshold sererating the Casino from the ship’s Hotel, Casca drew speed as she closed in. The young Saiyan found herself in the lobby of the Big Gamble’s all-inclusive, five-star hotel, located conveniently near the Casino. Stumbling into more Namekian guests, Casca after-imaged to the top of the massive foyer and looked for her next move. STAIRS TO THE CARGO BAY
“ Bingo,” Casca huffed as she leaped from chandelier to chandelier until she had a clear path to her destination. Holding her breath, the young Saiyan catapulted herself over the crowd of green being helped at the front desk and rolled into the endzone. Hearing a couple of gasps as she thudded to the ground, Casca raised her fist with her thumb in the air to indicate to the crowd she meant business. Shouldering the door open, the young woman jumped the stairs as made her way to the ship’s cargo bay. Casca made herself thin as she avoided people employed by Flip, dodging the staff that actually do their job on a daily basis, she attempts to prove that she could do hers. Kinda. Maybe every other day. Who knows, but Casca was determined to find out as she boarded one of the Big Gamble’s extra lifeboats. “ Flip, won’t even know I’m gone,” she said as after she accidentally bumped the ship’s communication display on, meaning anyone could be listening. “ Time to go for a swim,” she hummed as the small pod roared to life. Waiting for the hangar doors to open, Casca readied herself as her pod automatically ejected itself from the Gamble. “ Vamonos,” Casca said as she gestured to the hanger as it’s lights faded from view. “ I’ll be back,” she said as she took control of the escape vehicle’s controls. Manually causing the craft to aerodynamically stall, Casca buckled herself in as she aimed to crash into Namek’s great ocean off of the shore of the Ajisa Mainland. “ I got you, Flip.”

Flip could only blink when the connection was suddenly cut. Somehow, Casca reassuring him that the ship wasn't going down, did NOT help reassure him. He quickly rose to his feet. "Keech, have them lower the ship close to the surface and head for the nearest large body of water." Sure, it was annoying that their water reserves had run out like this, but it wasn't as if they couldn't simply find more water. They would just have to hold off on drink orders until they did so. "Send out a message that until further notice, the water utilies on the Big Gamble have been shut off." He quickly strode out of his office. First things first, he needed to find Riddley. They guy goes off for five seconds, and Casca was doing lord knows what on the ship.
He quickly made his way down to the casino floor, and it took no time at all to spy the chief of security at the bar. As he approached the bar, Riddley turned and saw him. "Ah, boss. How are you doing?" Flip closed in on him, eyes narrowing. "Well, first off, annoyed that my chief of security is slacking off to take a drink. Because while you're here, getting sloshed, it's been noted that the water supplies on the ship have run out. And Casca is now running around, doing god knows what, with YOUR headset." Riddley's eyes widened. Casca did have a bit of a habit of flying off the handle when it came to things. "S-Sir, I..." Flip leaned in. "Get back to the security room and try to find her! Keep me updated on what our saiyan friend is up to. Hopefully we can stop her before she does something drastic."
Riddley couldn't run fast enough.

"H-TWO? Uh-Oh!" The Gamble faces its Biggest Threat Yet Casca scrambled as she tried to release herself from the ship’s safety restraints for they did their job, so far. Knowing she had to react quickly, the young Saiyan manipulated the nylon belts to her will, removing enough before she tied it around her waist. Contemplating if she planned this correctly, the Saiyan did a practice round of holding her breath. She sucked in as much air as possible as the ship sunk deeper and deeper into the ocean. Seconds mattered, so when Casca’s body chooses to give up it brought back memories of the past few weeks. Escaping Vegeta wasn’t enough, the young woman could feel the pressure of the hunt from the bottom of the ocean. Summoning breath for another trial, Casca closed her eyes to see the face that haunted her as of late. The face of a Monster. Punching the thin barrier between her and the sea, deeply disturbing thoughts existed within Casca’s mind. She instantly regretted the strike once as water started sprouted from the small impact. The face of the Konatsian.
“You saved my life,” the Saiyan struggled to admit. “What a life,” she said as she sunk to the bottom of the ocean. Sitting down in the growing puddle that will eventually suffocate her, Casca wrestled with the fact she left an ally to die. And for what? So she could pretend to feel important while forever chasing down some magical wish-granting dragon?
“Sounds like a fairytale to me,” permitting herself to believe the lie, Casca continued, “thank you, whoever you are. I’m sorry we had to meet like this,” she allowed herself to feel. “Wish I had your courage.”
Taking the time to allow her prayer to reach where it needed to go, the Saiyan drew in a breath. “Dragggooonn!” Casca waded through the waist-high water as the golden glow filled the cabin. Quickly in her head, the image of the Konatsian vanished and was replaced with the Monster known as Yogu. “Fisssstt!”
An overflow of Ki rippled across Casca’s body as she slammed her fist into the seat she was sitting on. Booming forth from her strike was a deafening Golden Dragon birthed from her Ki. The ship rocked to the surface as the power force propelled it forward eventually breaching the surface. And it didn’t stop there.
Gaining height, Casca swung out from the void she created. She cleared the ship as the belt around her waist turned taut. Smacking back into the ship, the young woman attempted to bear hugged what she could, turning so she was carrying the ship across her back.
The Saiyan dived beneath the waves, making sure to surface before the makeshift reservoir was to heavy for her to carry, as the Big Gamble broke through the cloud cover. Casca knew it wouldn’t be long before Flip came up with a plan.
Thinking this may actually work, the young woman didn’t notice the seatbelt beginning to tear.
The Saiyan found herself short of being helped as she reentered the water. Changing her directory from flying horizontally, to flying vertically, Casca gritted her teeth as she gave it one last heave towards the Big Gamble. The ship containing the freshest of Namekian water was now headed towards Flip’s megaship in hurry. Someone had a job to do.

"Sir, we've checked all over the ship, but there's no sign of Casca." came Riddley's voice over the hotline between him and Flip. The man gave a small grunt of annoyance. Where could she have gotten to? Casca was hardly one for subtlety. "Though, we did notice one of the shuttles has been taken." Flip paused. So, she had taken a shuttle and headed planetside. Lord please hope she was not doing something drastic. They had worked hard to cultivate the relationship with the Namekian people. He did not need her to jeapordize it.
"Sir," came Keech's voice, "We're descending down to a large body of water. It wont be long before we're taking in fresh water." Flip nodded. Really, getting more water wouldn't be much of a hastle. It was just having this sprung on him was annoying.
"Sir!" Keech's voice sprang up, "We're picking up something heading for the ship! It's one of the shuttles!" Flip blinked. Was Casca back with the shuttle? Good, she hadn't done anything to cause any trouble. "The shuttle looks damaged and...there's water coming out of it?"
Well, so much for that. Flip headed to the nearest shuttle bay. "Open the hanger doors and let her in!" he wasn't going to risk Casca trying to crash the shuttle through the ship.

"H-TWO? Uh-Oh!" The Gamble faces its Biggest Threat Yet! Knock, knock! “ I’m coming in,” Casca spewed as she touched a heavy foot down on the hangar floor. Stomping as she atlas-ed the leaky container on her back, the young Saiyan hurriedly made her way to the large maintenance elevator in the back of the hangar. “ Secure this Riddles,” she said with a voice to imitate her superior. Shakily, Casca dropped the space pod at the feet of the giant water reserve of the ship. “Why stop at one,” the head of security for the Big Gamble, Riddley, questioned as the Saiyan leaned against her jimmy-rigged pod. “ Lemme be right back,” the young woman joking said as she ran in place. “ It’s gotta be enough for the night. No showers, and only flush if you go number two,” she said as she crossed the alien and patted him on his shoulder. “ Keys are in the ignition.” “Where do you think you are going,” Riddley shot through her playful banter. “ To get a drink, shifts done,” the Saiyan said. Powering up, Casca produced an outward force on everything in the room, causing the chief of security next to her to close his eyes. Clothes now dry, the woman powered down as she strolled out the door. Climbing the stairs, navigating through the hotel lobby, and standing on the casino floor, Casca watched as the Namekian families enjoyed their time. “ Can’t get much better than this,” she said as she grabbed a drink off of the plate of a passing by bartender. Spitting out the alcohol, Casca stomped off to the dance hall’s bar. Waiting for several minutes as the Namekians hogged all the wonderful water, Casca took two for the road. “ That’s what I’m talking about,” she commented as the water dripped off her chin when she finished one of the glasses. Noticing a little Namekian child, the Saiyan changed levels as she handed the little one her spare. “ Grows on ya, you’ll like it,” she said as she handed the young one the glass full of water. Seeing the life force of the Namekian change from dry and standoffish to thrilled and hyped, Casca knew she performed at least one good deed today. Clapping with the music as she entered the dance floor, the young Saiyan needed to see for herself if the rumors were true. If Namekians were truly as great at dancing as they claim. Enjoying another cup of water, Casca waited for Flip at his table as she watched the Namekians break it down on the dance floor. For a second, Casca thought she saw the planet's Guru popping and locking in the crowd. " Naw, couldn't be."

This...had certainly been unexpected. Casca returning with a shuttlecraft filled with water like an imprompt water tank. Well, it was a way to get water, or she could have waited for them to land and simply restock on water the normal way. That way, they didn't have to worry about repairing a waterlogged shuttlecraft. Sure, Casca's heart was in the right place, but she really needed to stop and think at times.
As the ship touched down, and the crew got to work to start bringing in water from the nearby ocean, Flip headed down to where Casca had been spotted. She had gone down to celebrate her little victory. Grabbing a shot of whiskey, Flip made a beeline straight for her table and took a seat. "I hope you realize the repairs to that shuttlecraft are coming out of your paycheck," Flip spoke up, taking a seat opposite to her.

"H-TWO? Uh-Oh!" The Gamble faces it Biggest Threat Yet
Leaning back in Flip’s private booth, Casca felt like she made it. Overseeing the entirety of the dance floor, she watched as the Namekians moved to the music, not as alien as you’d think. Generally glad at least for one night, no one would go thirsty, the young Saiyan waved down own of the Gamble’s staff. “ Could I get another wada,” the Saiyan nudged her empty glass to the end of the booth’s table, possibly poking fun at the fact she was sober and enjoying herself. Seeing Flip, the young woman went for the hug but was surprised to see her teammate take to his seat before greeting her. Following suit, Casca sat opposite the ship’s owner, Flip Fortuna, the leader of the Syndicate. The pores on the Saiyan’s neck opened, as the body combated the physical need to grab a drink with Flip, but she resists. Images of Yogu sprang into the young woman’s head, ending on the warped features of the Monstar. “ How’s that water coming,” Casca called over the music of the dancehall. “ Nice to see you too,” she said as she gripped her friend’s hand before he had to spoil her appetite. “ Outta my paycheck? I thought I deserve a bonus,” the growing anxious Saiyan spoke as she snapped her fingers rather rudely for her drink request to be satisfied. A young Arcosian squirtled across the floor, rolling forward while carrying a crystal clear vase of the good stuff. “ Me wada,” Casca said as she reached. The attendant walking past their booth, the Saiyan’s temperament went up another notch. Trying not to show her frustration, Casca volunteered herself to oversee the new shipment Keech would most likely have already arranged. “ How’s that sound? I will personally head down to Namek and watch over the whole process. One day of work, for one week of pay, deal?” Extending her arm, the teammates made a toast before the real negations began.

Flip let out a small sigh as Casca tried to negotiate her way out of paying for the new shuttlecraft. "Casca, you too one of our shuttles and turned it into a water bucket. Not only do we need to repair the water damage, but we'll be one short in the meantime." Flip leaned forward on the table, looking at the saiyan in front of him, "Alternatively, you could have waited patiently while we landed and took in water to refill the tanks. Yes, it was irritating to have to run out of water before we could restock, but it's not like the ship was going to explode in five minutes without water."
Flip let out a sigh as he sat back, watching the attendant give Casca her water. He quietly stopped him. [color-orange]"A mint julep please," he glanced at Casca, "And some strong for Casca here." As the attendant scuttled away, Flip leaned forward on the table. "Listen, I know things have been a bit hectic really, but you really need to relax. I've been noticing you've been a bit, well, jumpy and prone to overreacting. I'm tempted to put you on leave until you relax and calm yourself." his eyes showed concern for her. They had been friends for a long time, and though he knew Casca had a bit of a rough life, he noticed the girl was getting more and more wound up lately. Such stress really couldn't be good for her.

"H-TWO? Uh-Oh!" The Gamble faces it Biggest Threat Yet A break did sound nice. “ How did this turn from us talking about a superior beverage known as water, something the Namekians love by the way, to us talking about my health. I’m fine,” the Saiyan tried to wrap up the conversation there. “ We can still hold this place together, just you and me. No need to go hiring outside help just yet.” As much as she wanted to maintain her standing in the day-to-day affairs of the Big Gamble, the Saiyan tried to sound reassuring knowing most of her designated responsibilities were well beyond her knowhow. Looking out the window, the young woman was forced to rekindle the only reason they were here in the first place. “ Namek is just different than I thought,” Casca sipped her water as she tried honesty for a change. “ How can you go back down there after witnessing what that Monstar did to Oboe? Or to the Konatsian.” Kicking her legs out, the Saiyan sunk deeper into her chair. Flip was a brilliant importer, but unless he could import an army, Casca believed a leave from duty should be the last thing either one of them should do. They were here for a reason, a reason she tried to remember as she rubbed her forehead in an attempt to fight off the thoughts of the Monstar. How can someone she met twice dominate her mental bandwidth to the point she lacked the will power to think? Frustrated to the point water wouldn’t alleviating her developing migraine, she took a sip of Flip’s drink. And it wasn’t bad. Maybe Namek didn’t have to be so bad. As the aftertaste of the alcohol shocked her taste buds to attention, Casca had a moment of déjà vu. “ It’s what reminds you, you’re alive,” the Saiyan unknowing said out loud, mistakenly repeating one of the last things she told Yogu before he lost the battle to his inner Monstar. As if from Vegeta himself, serotonin rushed through the Saiyan’s body as the dots began to connect. Taking another sip of Flip’s drink, Casca began to visualize the overarching design before she loudly confessed, “ What about our Plan-B? Who’s to say lightning won’t strike twice.” She starred optimistically at Flip. “ Now, we just need someone to be the B. The Bait!”

Ah, so that was what was bothering her. The whole incident regarding Monster. It seems she wasn't used to this sort of thing, not knowing how to pursue with life after something like that. Flip leaned forward on the table. "Casca, I've seen a lot of shit during my career. Granted, nothing like this, but I've been in a powerless situation before. And what I know, is that if you let it keep you down, then you're not getting back up ever. We've got this sorted out. With Nashua and Vocado, we're in a rather good position. Monster is only one, but we were smart enough to get allies." Indeed, with the two Super Saiyans and the Guru on their side, they were probably in the best position possible. Flip gave her a reassuring smile. "Listen, this ship has a crew of over 200 people. Everyone will be fine if you took some time off to relax. Enjoy the commodities here without having to work. You're not much good to everyone if you're wired all the time. Trust me, we have everything under control. We're not doing this alone after all."Flip sat back, giving the saiyan woman a warm smile. "Seriously, whatever you want, just ask for it and we'll provide it. Consider this your day off."Casca
