Thread PL: 5 415 The tranquil wilderness of the mountains was perfect for training. It was early morning, just before sunrise. This was Nesu's favorite time to train, when the darkness of night began to shift into the light of day. It had been quite some time since Nesu had left his little village behind to seek out the secret of his grandmother, Gira's, strength... yet, it seemed he was no closer now than he was at home. But how could this be? He did everything he could think of. He left home, severing all of his attachments so he could focus on building his own power. What was he doing wrong? What did his grandmother have that he did not? Maybe she was just special? No other member of their family had grown as powerful as her before or since. Perhaps that was all she was; a freak of nature? Nesu stood from his seated position atop the mountain peak and scowled. "No. Freak of nature or not, it's too soon for me to give up. For the sake of my race and my home, I must not give up!" Firing himself up, a dark red aura came over Nesu. "If my best isn't enough, then i'll just have to do better!" He rose his power to its absolute maximum, even trying to push it beyond. His screams of effort echoed throughout the mountains. "That's it! THAT'S IT...! Almost... there...!" pootNesu's face turned red at the little noise coming from his backside. "Damn it." He ceased his desperate attempt at forcing a power boost and simply looked out over the mountains towards the early morning sunrise. The explosion of color on the horizon somehow brought Nesu some degree of peace. With his mind calming, he began to think rationally about the whole situation. He was missing something. That much had become painfully clear to him. It just remained to be seen whether or not he could claim it before he needed it. "This is getting me nowhere. I need a new angle." He tightened the belt on his grey gi and sighed in frustration. What he did know was that waiting for a miracle would get him nowhere. Lunatus

All this stress was probably not good for him, especially when they were all piled onto him. From his months lost in space, the loss of the two people that he loved the most and now all the things that were happening in Central City. Thankfully, they had managed to evacuate most of the city before the battle itself would happen, including Mera's parents to his relief. This would at least lessen the collateral damage at least. However, despite his role in helping the evacuation of some of the citizens, Lunatus couldn't help but feel as if he accomplished nothing. He was given one of the greatest honors in the company: to pilot a plexroid, but at the same time the two of them were unable to participate in the fight. It was already clear to him that he was weak, but along with what happened in Satan City, this furthered his point that was unable to do anything. It was pathetic and Lunatus wanted to change this. While he had already fantasized about a dozen different upgrades to his body and to APUS, he didn't have the resources to do so. Who knew what the state of Crop Co. was after the fight? However, he did vaguely remember how the stronger the connection between the Plexroid and the pilot was, the stronger they would both become. Maybe this was the key to their success. As such, Lunatus had decided to take to the wilderness. Maybe the would be able to wait out the fight by spending their time camping. It would certainly further their body, and perhaps he would even be able to deal with some of APUS' more... rebellious side in the process. It definitely wouldn't be easy, especially if it meant leaving all of the luxuries back home but perhaps this was what they needed. "Stay there boy," Lunatus coaxed the giant plexroid who let out a resounding cry. APUS hopped towards him, regarded him for a moment before grabbing him by his collar with his beak. "No, bad. Let me down. Listen to me." He said, flailing around slightly as the giant bird began to playfully swing him around in his beak. After getting nowhere with the sweet talk, Lunatus decided to try another angle. "Alright at least let me in you so we can fly." He said desperately. To both his shock and horror, the plexroid spread his wings and began to take flight into the sky, with Lunatus still in his beak. "What are you doing? Go back down!" This was going to be a long bonding session. Nesu

Nesu had just begun to find his center when he suddenly heard a frantic, shouting voice coming from somewhere nearby. Judging by the volume of the shouts and the speed at which they grew louder, it was headed towards his secluded training area. What was going on here? Was someone in danger? Why would there be someone all the way out here? He did not sense any energy nearby. At least, nothing beyond the ambient energy that was normal for a planet full of life. When he saw what the source of the shouting was, however, his mouth hung agape. It was... some sort of giant bird! It wasn't like the normal pterosaurs that were commonplace on Earth, however. It had great green feathers and even seemed mechanical in nature. That explained why he couldn't sense any power coming from it. It wasn't like you could sense your toaster as it powered up to make you toast. What the bird had with it, though, was even more shocking. "Is... is that...?" There was no mistake. In the clutches of the great green bird's beak was a young man! "Shit!" The man looked rather frantic. He must have been the one shouting. This mechanical bird must have snatched him up. For what purpose, he had no clue. This was a machine, so it was likely on the orders of someone else. Or so he assumed. 'What should I do...?' He realized how ridiculous the question was as soon as it crossed his mind. He knew exactly what he had to do. Clenching his fists, he tried his best to channel his grandmother's heroic spirit. "Hold on!" He called to the man before launching himself in the air with one push from his powerful legs. Allowing his flight to take over from there, he opened the fist clenched at his right side. A single point of violet energy formed just above his palm, looking very similar to a tiny star that one would see in the night sky. 'Aether Crush... i'm gonna finish this in one shot.' With a flex of his palm, the tiny point of energy expanded into a sphere the size of a golf ball. 'Wait for it... wait for it...' He reared back, but at the last second, he had second thoughts. 'Wait... at this distance... I could very well kill this guy.' He narrowed his eyes at the creature. 'Plan B.' He crushed the energy ball in his hand, releasing the power in a shower of purple sparks. His plan was simple; rocket above the creature and smack it on top of the head with as powerful of a kick as he could muster. Hopefully, that would make the creature drop the man and Nesu could swoop in and save him before dismantling the bird for good. As the Saiyan warrior flew above the bird, he twisted around in midair and flew downwards, aiming to strike this mechanical abomination in the head with both feet like a bullet. Hopefully, the creature would drop the victim and Nesu could catch him before he fell to his death.
There appears to be a misunderstanding! Nesu is ready for battle! Lunatus

There were several things that he could attempt in this situation. The first was to yell at APUS until he finally listened to him. Of course, Lunatus had been trying this for quite awhile now. It was already abundantly clear that he wouldn't listen. The second option was to somehow free himself from his beak, perhaps by chopping off the collar of his shit. But the idea of falling who knows how far to the ground and into a million pieces wasn't appealing. Besides, it would ruin his favorite shirt. Sighing, he resounded himself to his last option, letting the mechanical bird wear himself out after flying around for a bit. While this generally took hours, if not even a couple days, it wasn't as if he had a choice.
Something odd registered, sounding almost like a shout. Turning his head towards the direction of the noise, he quickly realized to his horror a man, most likely a saiyan from the look of the tail flying towards APUS almost as fast as a bullet. He had managed to kick the bird straight smack in the head, causing him to drop him and therefore causing him to drop Lunatus out of his mouth. "A P U S!" He shouted, as he fell.
The plexroid recovered from the blow quickly, and seeing that his partner was falling to his death, he quickly acted up, flying right underneath him and opening up the cockpit so he could land ungracefully, but safely inside of him. After Lunatus had registered what was going on, he scrambled to take control of the mechanical bird. "Stop!" The voice appeared to blare out from the speakers inside the bird. "Don't harm him any further, he's my friend." He winced after doing a quick analysis of his condition. While none of his internal systems were damaged, he had a giant dent on the middle of his head. That would be a pain to fix later.
"We were just spending time together, and APUS got a little to excited. He meant no harm," Lunatus tried his best to explain although it was a bit difficult to reason why there was a giant bird holding him with his mouth. Hopefully he could get the gist. He really didn't want to be spending the next few days after his return trying to fix APUS up the best he could from this encounter.
