Thin, dry air accompanied only by the beating heat of the sun that loomed above the sandy wastes—that was Diablo Desert for the vast majority of the Earth's daily cycle. There was not even the gentlest of breezes to stifle the vapid temperature of this wasteland, though whenever there was it was carrying thick, dense clouds of a sandstorm. It was a harsh environment with its equal share of hostile creatures. It wasn't the sort of place that could be considered inhabitable.
It had been two days since Oud had landed on this alien planet after his exile from planet Namek. He had been wandering around in a sickly, lethargic stupor ever since he had managed to step out of that space pod, his body tired and cumbersome after he was drained of nearly all of his power and his mind left in a catatonic-like daze. The sweltering heat and sparse pockets of fresh water did little to help him.
But, eventually, he was able to regain some of his senses and energy. He was far from what he once was but at least now he could walk straight and think with a clear conscience and clarity. He was now able to fully take in where he was and what was best to overcome this hostile landscape. Far from where the broken ship lay was a small oasis. Small patches of grass formed around what little soil had not been completely turned to grains of sand, with a small pool of water in the middle that was clean and refreshing. The few palm trees provided ample shade beneath their canopies to help keep him cool and not allow him to dehydrate so quickly.
There was a respite for his body, but not for his thoughts. Anger and bitterness swelled within his psyche like a torrential storm. He was cast from not only his position beside the Guru as his adviser, but from his home, left to fend for himself on an alien planet. The Earth looked so calm and serene when he gazed out of the window of the pod, marvelling at its blue, white and green beauty. But as soon as he entered the stratosphere, he was met only with the dusty brown-grey of the desert below him. It felt like a horrible trick—salt poured into the wound of his humiliation.
"Curse them…!" he growled through gritted teeth as he stared into his own reflection upon the surface of the pond, gazing into the face of a namekian who had everything taken from him. "Curse the Guru! A plague on his clan in its entirety!"
He splashed at the water with both hands, trying to strangle the closest thing he could see that resembled anything Namekian in origin even if it was his own reflection. "I will… re-establish my strength," he ranted in a more calm voice, though still laced with that venom and spite. "And then I shall find the means to return there! I shall find the means—I shall find that power!"
His breathing became heavy. He pulled his hands from the pond and splashed the cool water on his face. Fingers ran down from his forehead and cheeks as he gazed up at the sky. "I shall have it… I shall have it!"

Suri PL: 32,000/96,000 Majin Suri (x1/x3P)
Deserts were, as anyone with a bit of common sense would know, very hot. Suri liked everything that was the opposite of hot, and only a few things that were not. The last time she was in a desert, she remembered cursing herself only seconds after entering the heated atmosphere of that nameless wasteland. And that desert couldn't hold a candle to the Diablo Desert, which Suri was currently flying through.
Suri would have been boiling, not in rage, but due to heat, if not for her cold aura, which she had activated moments ago when she had just entered this desert. But even with that, the desert weakened the usual air conditioner-like effects of the aura to mere electric fan levels of coldness. The sunlight felt like it was piercing through the every fiber of her being, then reflecting off the sand down below to do it all over again. Normally, Suri tried to make her energy warmer, but today? Nope, that notion was gone with the wind.
Despite it being so painfully hot, it was...good training! Yes. That was why she was here. On her last visit to a desert, she got the idea of trying her endurance with how long she could last in a desert. But of all places, did she have to choose this one? Suri, with rather family-friendly words, started to chastise herself..."God d...ang it, stupid d...ing dong desert weather...grh...why did I have to-"...for a short moment.
Well, that was short-lived. That was because...Suri saw an oasis! That better not be a f...reaking mirage!
Nothing else managed to catch Suri's eyes as she jetted over to the heaven within hell, the cool, watery paradise prepared just for her. The firey desert's overly warm embrace effected Suri's mind, rendering it unable to produce the likes of ice, cream, or ice cream, but even with the sight of a small pond, the Majin would be able to make something of it, and make something!
As soon as her feet touched the ground next to the pond, Suri showered herself with several ice cubes that rained down on her. Closing her eyes, she let the cool cubes brush against her skin. Some went in her mouth, but most of them ended up falling, piling up below her or splooshing into the water.
Completely captivated by her little icy heaven on Earth, Suri let out an "Ahhhhhhh....." of relief. As she stopped materializing ice out of thin air, Suri's eyes opened. Her sigh of relief turned to a shriek! "...AHH! How long were you...I'm sorry!" Turns out, she was sharing this little pool of water with a Namekian. what was he doing all the way out here in the desert? And...he looked angry. "D-Did I make you angry...?"

The namekian could feel something. It was faint at first, but he could feel a presence up above him, getting closer and closer as the seconds passed. It was something that once he would have considered weak—a speck of power that paled in comparison to his own—but now it was something he would consider troubling. He would have to remain cautious around whatever was coming towards him.
As the form drew within sight, Oud hummed to himself. It was nothing but a small creature that looked almost as dazed as he once was, her eyes showing an almost empty and soulless expression. Her form was most peculiar, small and blue with blackened eyes that shone with a ruby glow—an alien creature to be sure and one that he had never seen or read about, but her attire was quite plain and modern, belying the rest of her unnatural form.
A child, in any case. It was any wonder to the namekian how a child like her could have so much power as she did. He pondered if she was some sort of fighter, or if she naturally had latent strength within that tiny form of hers. If the latter was true, did the rest of her species share the same passive power as her? It would be something for him to study and research upon. But, for now, he had to deal with her.
Oud's face relaxed. He was indeed angry, but it was not something he needed to show in front of her. He would need to make himself inconspicuous. He would need to remain calm and collected as to not startle or impose on her. "No… No, child, you have not made me angry," he replied to her in a soothing voice that poured from neutral lips. He glanced over at her for a moment longer, watching her bathe herself in ice. "I was simply contemplating on how such a place came to be."
Slowly he stood up on his feet and he placed his hands on his robe-covered knees. He glanced around from left to right, taking in the scenery that was before him—a lush oasis with nothing but sand, dust and orange skies beyond it. "A strange thing, isn't it?" he said. "How does such a thing like this exist in a wasteland of sand? What act of nature allowed for this place to become what it is?"
Then, he looked down at the girl. Again his eyes fell on the ice that covered her. Not only was she strong in strength but also strong in the ways of the magical arts. It intrigued him. It edged against his mind, the fact that she was an unknown to a person who needed to know all. "But you, child, you are… interesting," he said to her as he kept a straight face. "You have much untapped power, I feel. I believe in time you will learn of your gifts and master them in less."
He took a step over the blades of grass. Then another. "Tell me, child… what is your name?"

Suri PL: 32,000/96,000 Majin Suri (x1/x3P)
As for the Majin, she only felt natural things like touch and scent. She didn't know how to sense energy yet, so none of that. Now that her eyes were open, she could percieve the appearance of the person in front of her, at least.
The Namekian was, as anyone would expect, of green hue. The clothes he wore looked to be some sort of ancient robe, crimson in color, embraced by golden markings, with a long cape to boot...wasn't he feeling the slightest of heat with those on? Well, maybe Suri's aura could cool them both down.
Now that she thought about it, he was of a much darker green than what Suri was used to, less of a ripe green apple color, and more of a rotten, or poisonous green apple... Every part of body gave off an aura of intimidation, from his tall stature, all the way to the tips of his sharp fingernails. To put it frankly, he looked scary.
Looks were hardly everything, Suri knew that. That saying seemed to be true in this case. He was kind, from the tone of his voice, to the words he spoke. Enough for Suri to open up to him, put her guard down. He didn't smile, nor did he frown. A neutral expression, one could make such a face even in happiness depending on the person's calmness. This one seemed like he was calm.
Yes, a calm, gentle...old man? He did call her 'child'. Suri couldn't tell by looking at his face if he was old in any species' standards, but she remembered the fact that Namekians aged slowly, and learned to assume. "Thank goodness... Still, sorry to disturb you while you were in your thoughts, sir.." With a small smile plastered on her mouth, she calmly apologized, speaking as politely as she could. She had to be polite to strangers she just met, regardless of age.
The Namekian was...very enthusiastic about the oasis! For different reasons than Suri. He was amazed as to how it could exist? That was something Suri didn't think twice about, usually. It was strange, now that she thought about it. She did learn about it in school...what was it...? "Uhhhmm...I think it was...water from the underground, like from underground rivers, bursted out at some point. Yeah...and the water probably allows the plant life to live here... Oh, uh, you probably shouldn't drink the water without purifying it, though! All sorts of microorganisms could be living in there..." Huh. Who knew she'd be using this information, ever? Just a few months ago, she wouldn't have even considered going anywhere close to a desert!
The Namek's interest was then directed to Suri. "M...Me?" Suri's slit-eyebrows moved up. Her, interesting? "You...feel? Ki, or...are you a magic user as well, sir?" He did seem completely unfazed with her magicking up the ice cubes earlier, currently piled up to her knees. And what gifts was he talking about? The girl, of course, was intrigued by the possibility of improving her skills, whichever it was.
Suri stayed where she stood, looking up at the man as he stepped closer. He had asked her name. "Suri." To her own surprise about thirty seconds later, Suri said her name without hesitation. "...Are you interested in helping me learn my...'gifts'? Mister..." If he was, she sure as hell wasn't going to refuse. Her current martial arts master also trained her right after they met, so the precedent was there. She waited, expecting the man to tell her his name as well.

The namekian raised a single clawed hand up as though to stop the young majin for speaking for a moment. "You need not apologize, young one," he responded without a hint of good will in his expression, his face still sober. "However I do appreciate your sincerity and respect. It is often a rare commodity nowadays."
It wasn't just her abilities that intrigued him but also her polite demeanour that she carried with her. It was good to see that the practice of a parent teaching their children manners at a young age was a universal tradition and not something left entirely upon Namekian society. As such, he gave her a small smile as a token and reciprocation of her respectful personality and good will.
Then, as Suri began to explain to him the geological workings of this planet, the magister turned to look back at the pond. Yes, it seemed to make sense to him now. Below the ground was likely a reservoir of water, with the oasis being the basis of that reservoir being tapped by mortal hands or by nature itself—remove the landmass and all there will be underneath is water, just like on Namek. Still, the fact that there was only this much of it led Oud to silently speculate that this place used to be covered entirely of lush, green forestry and lakes and such, turned into a sand-strewn plain by some natural occurrence some time ago.
"You are quite knowledgeable for someone so young," he praised as he wrapped his hands behind his back, thin fingers curled around the other wrist. "I am surprised, yet quite impressed with your education. You seem to have a good mix of strength both physical and mental." A part of him cringed at the fact that, again, a child was posing to be his equal, if not his greater. His fingers of his gripped hand curled into a fist for a moment before relaxing again.
But at least now he had a name to go with a face. He hummed for a moment as he took a few steps towards the pool once more, looking down into the waters. Clear as crystal with only the slightest tinge of blue from the refracted light. "I would think this water is safe, Suri," he replied to the contrary. "No doubt the rocks beneath this oasis would rid it of most impurities. Also… it seems to provide growth to the foliage here. It is safe for consumption, I can assure you."
He paused for a moment. The water reminded him of Namek once more. He remembered when he would take short leaves of the Guru's palace to travel along the shores and beachheads of the island in which he lived on. The calm waves and glistening light from the sun upon their surface always reminded him that there was always something bigger upon the horizon. He had it, once. Now he found himself gazing at such a small pond of water—a fitting metaphysical representation of his lost powers that were the size of the great namekian sea itself.
"I am Oud," he replied once he lifted his head up again. He turned back to Suri as his continued, "I am a researcher and scholar—a 'record keeper', so to speak. I came here from a planet called Namek in order to expand and explore my knowledge and understanding beyond my home—to learn more about life that exists beyond the stars."
He made his way towards her again. He stopped two feet in front of her before glancing down at her small form. He pondered for a brief moment, eyes shifting up and down scanning her body. "Unfortunately I do not know anything about your species, so I fear my help may be limited. However, perhaps I can come to understand you should you choose to accompany me for a time."

"...Oh! I can't take credit for that. My paren...err, family taught me to..." Parent, singular. And the other adults in the house. Well, maybe Suri also sort of overdid it with her manners. She was glad her presence wasn't displeasing, though.
Suri did live in a town with a...harsh education system, to say the least. Children sat in class to have knowledge shoved into their heads, and once classes were over for the day, they sat somewhere else to cram more things into their minds by themselves until 10. It would be more surprising if one didn't possess impressive intellect after all that. 'One' did not include Suri, in her own mind. Suri didn't partake in that as much as her friends did, she had more freedom and she made full use of it growing up. Her grades ended up taking a hit, which Suri didn't take very well.
'Smart', 'knowledgable', Suri wouldn't have even considered to use those words to describe herself, so she was pretty surprised by the old man's compliments. "M-Me? No, I...I'm not that smart, I just...remembered that from school, that's all...", she said, her words trembling in their delivery. The Namek's clenched fist went unnoticed, as Suri was too busy looking at the ground while fumbling with her own hands.
"Y-Yes, but..." rocks didn't purify "...microorganisms..." ...they were invisible to the eye, and they could make those without immunity to sickness, you guessed it, sick. But "...okay..." Suri concluded, despite actually disagreeing with him. She decided not to argue any further with the adult. Well, the older adult. Suri still wasn't ever going to drink out of that pond...despite being more immune to sickness than the plants that lived off of that same water.
Could Namekians could get sick too? Worry only briefly washed over her face, before the realization hit her; he probably knew about his own species better than Suri did. He was looking at that pond for a bit, though...
He, the Namekian, introduced himself as Oud. Suri's eyes met Oud's as he continued, metaphorically glowing when he mentioned he was a researching scholar. "Ohh...you must be really smart, Mister Oud! Much more knowledgeable than the likes of me." Ah, an interesting occupation, 'record keeper'. One Suri wouldn't even dream of having.
Oud got closer, and Suri could see just how tall he really was. Well, not in exact centimeters, just...it was more apparant now. His earlier description of Suri would fit himself more, she thought. "Yes, sir! I'm sure there's things I could learn that aren't restricted by race." Universal concepts like push-ups, sit-ups, and juice! Suri smiled, a bit reassuringly. "Oh, er, I do need to go home by 5, though. Could I have your phone number?" She couldn't live with him, but she could visit him. Then Suri remembered the possibility of him not having a phone. She couldn't remember if Namek had those. "...or scouter code? Wait, how long have you been on Earth, sir?"

The magister hummed softly as he gave the small majin girl a light nod of his head. "Then I must commend your family for raising their child properly," he praised. It was not often that a parent would incline their child to take up a good scholarship, instead opting to pass down their knowledge of a trade for their descendants to carry on a legacy. Still, with as much as Suri knew, it was apparent that she would grow to be quite the intellectual. Her polite manner would get her far with her seniors as well as in life in general. "I hope you continue to carry your manners and intellect into the future, young one. I see a bright future for you."
And yet she seemed shy, almost nervous in her demeanour. Oud had hoped that he was doing well to mask his dark side from her, although he could not help if his appearance and stature were intimidating to her. Regardless he did not care about the girl's feelings towards him so long as she proved to be of some company to him in this dreadful, accursed place.
The young majin did her job fine for the most part. The namekian could not help but put on a wry grin as she complimented him on his own knowledge and intellect. "Perceptive as well as intelligent," he replied to her, once more praising her. He could get the girl to open up to him more if he continued to boost her confidence. "Indeed, my knowledge is as vast as this desert. However, there are still many a thing that I do not know about this planet. When I have regained my strength, I shall explore this world and see what other marvels it has to offer me."
However, it was quite disheartening to him that Suri could not stay with him for too long. She needed to be home by a certain time—time in which he had no concept of for such a world. When was five o'clock? An hour from now? Two? Four? Regardless he did not worry about it. "Yes, I understand," he said as he lowered his head to her out of respect for her priorities. "I would be grateful if you stayed with me for as long as you could. I would like to hear more about this place. In return, perhaps I can share with you some of my own knowledge about Namekian culture."
When she asked about a way to contact him, he merely shook his head. "I have no concept of this 'phone' you speak of, and I do not have a scouter," he replied. "Those things do not concern me. However, I shall be in this place for some time to regain my strength. If you would like to see me again, you may come visit me tomorrow at your earliest convenience. As for how long I've been here? I would say two, maybe three, days."
He paused for a moment. He reminded himself of the crashed space pod that was beyond repair at this point. It seemed deliberate for Guru to exile him in a scrap piece of metal so that he could not find his way back to Namek. He pondered on how long he had been in space for between then and now. A month? Half a year? A full year? It was difficult keeping track of time within a vast void of black and celestial bodies.
"I would like to ask you of one thing, if I may be permitted to, youngling," he spoke suddenly, though he continued before the girl could voice any disapproval, "Might you know of anyone of technical knowledge? Once I am able to leave this place, I would like to consult with someone about repairing my ship."

Suri was thankful to her family for raising her well, yes. She only blamed herself for her faults. She nodded, and said "I will...thank you." There was no hesitation in Suri's words. She 'will' carry every good part of herself she can, there was no 'try'.
The Majin's fear of the stranger was long gone by now, and only her natural shyness plagued her. With all the kinds words of praise, Oud had put her in a good mood, and left too good of an impression on her. Tragically, Suri thought that Oud was being nice because he cared about her feelings...
...enough for him to praise her again! Aww, Oud was making her blush. Though Suri didn't realize it was the first time since they met, he smiled! See, look at him being all nice, what was there to distrust?
He wanted to increase his knowledge by travelling this world? So did Suri! Though she had gained a bigger priority as of late, training to get stronger. "That sounds like a good plan, sir. It's probably for the best to fly when your body is in top condition. Or drive, or walk..." Any method of transport, really, whichever was available to him.
Thankfully, Oud was understanding of Suri's vaguely-set curfew. "Thank you for understanding...and, yes, I will." Suri, as always, had plenty of time. Almost the whole day, in fact. She was not in education, employment, or training-...well, she did train, as in, train her physical body... "Excuse me, I'll just set an alarm so I'll know when I have to go..." If not given a 'no', Suri would pull out her phone to do just that. That would be great, because Suri wouldn't have to check her phone every so often.
Now... "Hm?" He didn't know what a phone was? "Oh, 'this' is a phone." Suri raised hers to show Oud. She was going to explain some functions, but he didn't really seem to care about it, so her phone found its way back into her pocket again. And he didn't have a scouter on him...didn't sound like he just left in at home, either. A shocking contrast, Suri didn't know how she'd even live without her phone!
"Alright, I will be back here tomorrow, then. So, it hasn't been very long since you landed. Is there any reason you chose the desert of all places, Mr. Oud? It seems like it would be a bad place to recover from a long flight, with how hot it is. Water is rare here, as you know," Suri glanced at the mini-oasis' pool, then back up to Oud. "and...it seems like it would be lonely out here." she skipped the lack of food and went straight to the loneliness, as she knew Namekians didn't require food. Was the company of someone, a nessesity? What about one's sanity?
Suri nodded with approval, 'yes, you can ask'. A bit late, though, as Oud didn't wait for her answer, so her nods came after he had already asked what he wanted to ask. It may have looked like she said 'yes, I know someone'. Well, she supposed she did know of one person. "I do! Sort of. Recently I met and helped a nice Arcosian lady, who also had a space pod with problems at the time. She said she wasn't an expert, but out of everyone I know, she's the most knowledgeable in that department. She was pretty good at following the instructions on the ship manual she had, too." Hopefully Shiver hadn't left the planet yet, so Suri could ask her for help.
"Where is your ship...? How bad is it broken?"

The magister nodded. The way that this young girl carried herself was one of apprehension but he knew that, in time, she would grow out of her shyness and made her strides in the world. She had a bright future ahead of her, that much was known to him, and he planned to take advantage of that sooner rather than later. He had already gained much from conversing with her—namely her trust.
The two of them continued to talk. Suri was astute in her assertion that he was able to fly—he could—though his body lacked the energy to do so for the moment. He would require more rest before he would be able to fully control his magic once more. "Indeed, I shall," he replied to her as he looked down at the palms of his hands. "I do not think walking would be much of an idea in this place. If I await for my magic to return, then I can come and go between here faster in case I ever need to leave my ship for prolonged periods. I would much prefer being able to make a quick return to not leave it alone long enough for vagabonds to pilfer."
Then, Suri pulled something out of her pocket, fumbling with the front of it with a thumb. The namekian just looked down at it, equally confused and yet fascinated by such a piece of technology. This was probably what a 'phone' was, though he was quite engaged by the fact that it doubled up as a sort of alarm for reminders as well as for communication, like a handheld scouter of sorts.
Still, technology was far beneath him. Only magic and power mattered in the grand scheme of things.
When she asked him why he chose this place to land, he merely chuckled with dry humour. "Oh, no, I did not choose to land here," he replied to her. "My ship was simply left on auto pilot to find the nearest inhabitable planet within this sector—I thought it best to start my research far, then proceed to other planets going inward back towards Namek. It was just bad luck that this area was where I landed."
Bad luck that it was, Oud contemplated on the truth of his arrival. Of all of the places that land on this backwater planet, he ended up in a barren desert instead of any other place that had some form of civilization, or any other form of life for that matter. Did those who prepared his ship purposefully set the co-ordinates for the Diablo Desert as a form of self-inflicted sabotage?
The thought made his muscles tense and his hands grip into fists as he kept them held behind his back. In his mind, he silently cursed those namekian fools for their impudence.
"But you are quite right," he continued, "for indeed it is quite lonesome out here. However, as a researcher and scholar, I tend to find solace in solitude. On Namek, my library was my refuge, with all of my books and tomes and scrolls as company. You, on the other hand, I appreciate. It is not often I am fortunate to be with others of equal intellect."
He hummed softly. Then, he took a few steps passed the majin, gazing out into the sands that lay beyond them. "To the east lays my ship," he said as he turned his head over his shoulder towards Suri. "If you would permit me, I shall take you directly to it. If you do not find me here once you return tomorrow, I will likely be where my ship has landed. Perhaps you will be able to bring your arcosian friend with you on your visit?"

"Ah, right... I just wasn't sure if you had the option to fly, Mr. Oud. Didn't want to assume..." It really wasn't one for him at the moment, wasn't it? Due to him being too exhausted to use magic. But, Suri now knew he knew how to, at least. "Carrying it somewhere else might also be an option. A cave might be a good place to hide it, maybe..." A cave in anywhere else but the desert.
"Oh...I see." Suri nodded agreeingly when Oud mentioned his own bad luck. Really bad luck to land in the middle of a desert of all places, where water was scarce, and technicians were scarcer. 'Was his ship broken before he came here?' Suri made sure to keep that thought to herself, not daring to joke about another's misfortune. Okay, so that meant Oud wasn't staying for too long, Suri thought. Kind of a shame, but she could visit if she ever got a space pod for herself. "So...you're going to eventually make your way back to Namek. Hopefully you're back home in no time."
He admitted it was lonely out here, but he was a loner... Paper couldn't replace people, as much as both of them may or may not wish that it could. Maybe it wasn't a nessesity, sure, but Suri thought that she would rather have company than not, family, friends, even the most distant of strangers. Suri nervously laughed at 'equal', thinking of herself as undeserving. "Eheheheh...I don't know about 'equal', but... I'm glad I could talk with you today too, Mr. Oud."
Suri turned, her eyes following the old Namekian's movement. "East? Oh, of course! By all means, please lead the way." Suri had...no idea which direction was East without looking at her phone. And how far east was it? Alternatively, "I could also carry you and fly there if you point at the direction it's in... Whichever you prefer. I'll try...to get in contact with her and ask her. If I can't bring her, well...maybe we could carry it to a city to have mechanics look at it." But enough about hypotheticals, it was time to go look at Oud's ship herself. Suri followed Oud's steps, indicating that she was following him all the way to the ship. If he agreed to fly with Suri, she would offer a hand to grab before starting her flight, and if not, she'd just walk right behind Oud.

"I am capable of flight," he said in a matter-of-fact tone, pride mixed with disdain upon those words, "but just in my current state. Much of my strength has been weakened since I have landed, so I dare not use my magic until I can regain absolute control of it." It made him bitter the fact that he risked using too much of his power lest it fail him at an inopportune moment.
He mused at the thought of being back on Namek sooner rather than later. No—for the most part he would have to spend some time here on this world. He could not go back home while still do weak. He would have to bide his time here and re-establish the power that was stripped from him. Only then could he take his revenge upon those who exiled him.
But he would keep those thoughts to himself. "Yes… In time, perhaps my return to Namek will come," he replied as he continued to take a few more steps forward onto the sands. "Although, I would like to stay on this planet for a while longer to observe its indigenous species and civilizations."
As the majin girl kept up beside him, he looked down at her as she offered her services to take him there quicker. "No," he responded abnormally quick, "no—I am quite capable of carrying myself on my own to legs… but the gesture is appreciated, nonetheless." The namekian was too proud and too arrogant to accept the aid of another person, especially an alien child of whom he knew nothing about besides her apparent intellect.
The two made their way through the desert, as empty and expansive as it was. There was scarcely a thing as far as the eye could see aside from the dunes in the plains and the occasional desert scorpion that scuttled across the sands in search of its next prey. The heat of the sun beat down upon everything, creating a shimmering façade in front of them where the heat was visible. A gentle breeze rolled through, finally, to stifle the temperature somewhat.
Although that meant that there was a good chance of a sandstorm not too far off in the future.
"I have doubts of a cave nearby," spoke the Magister as he broke the silence between them, referring to a notion the majin had said earlier. "I have noticed some mountainous areas to the far north, although what lies beyond them it unknown to me. Once we are done at my ship, perhaps I shall explore the north some more."
Speaking of his ship; he remembered that every namekian pod had a compartment sealed by a hatch that often housed emergency supplies—spare parts, distress beacons, and medical supplies. He had not noticed or even thought of it before, being too out of his mind upon landing here. He would need to get that open and see what was inside.
Though knowing the people who prepared his ship they more than likely emptied the compartment before sending him off-world.
"Still," continued Oud after a few moments, "if you cannot bring your friend here, then at least I will be able to take the ship to somewhere close by that specializes in such repairs. Once I have regained much of my strength I will be able to move the ship myself."

Suri nodded. "Right. That's probably for the best." It's better to be safe than sorry. Better to use magic in a stable state lest risk falling out of the sky mid-flight.
Suri was glad that Oud wasn't leaving anytime soon, because "The Earth does have a lot to offer. I hope you enjoy your stay here." And if he were to ask, Suri would most likely show him around, even.
Suri's services were refused. "Oh...okay." Her voice sank. She wasn't disappointed because she was refused, no, but because that meant that they had to walk, probably at a normal speed. And that was slower than flying.
And boy, was it hot here. Suri strengthened the effects of her aura, releasing cold air around her to try to block out the heat. If not for it, her legs would have probably melted a little due to how hot it was here. Well, not actually, more of an exaggeration.
At some point, Suri started floating at an altitude that would put her slightly above Oud's head, if she was flying directly above him. She wasn't, instead she stayed close to his right. Cold air was heavy, and that made it fall down. By doing this, perhaps she could act as a living air conditioner. in the middle of the desert... And thank god for that breeze, it made it easier for Suri to imagine the feeling of cool air, and easier for her to produce that air magically.
Cave? Oh, she did say that earlier. "Right...probably one in another area..." Like the rugged north, for example. "Oh, the north! It does have a lot of mountains, and it is cold. Like Mt. Frappe, for instance, I heard that it's so cold, fires freeze into ice! Maybe it's just a rumor, though. There's also a legend saying that 'if a woman sets foot on the mountain, a snowstorm will start', or something." That sounded outside the realm of science, more in the realms of magic... Magic is real, though, as we all know.
If Oud wanted his ship repaired... "Then North City is probably a good place to look." Suri stopped talking for a moment, but she didn't stop following Oud.
Whatever level his strength was at, he was pretty strong to say the least. She'd say...'befitting of his stature', but looks weren't good for judging power, as Suri found out. Her dad, despite how tall he was, couldn't lift a car if he tried, and yet Myu, a toddler, could probably lift a city or something. Shiver could also lift her own pod. Speaking...thinking of Shiver, she actually seemed kind of helpless without a manual.
"Hmm...that might be a better idea, actually, if you can move your ship yourself. Mechanics will be better at fixing your ship than her. She initially left her pod for repair in a shop too, but...she got tricked by a bad company, and that's why she decided to take it into her own hands. You should be careful not to be scammed too, Mr. Oud."

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
Oud can hear the drop of Suri's voice into a more sullen voice. He pondered the notion that she was upset at his declination of her help even though she had been more than helpful enough already. He had appreciated her wisdom and insight though still too proud to accept any physical favour from her. She will get over it eventually, he concluded silently.
It wasn't too long into their journey back that the majin decided to use her own power of flight over her own feet to carry her the rest of the way. A part of the Magister grimaced at seeing a strength of a sort from her that he could not perform at this point. He would get control of his magic abilities back in short time, but even that was a second too long for him.
"I am surprised that you have such an ability to control the temperature around you," he said to her though he kept his gaze forward, not giving her any visible attention. "You even created ice as well. Your thermokinesis intrigues me, I must admit."
It wasn't too long after that they would continue their discussion of the northern region. Oud listened attentively at Suri's words, taking in the information and committing it to memory just like the rest of the knowledge he had accumulated throughout his decades. Some of it was whimsical and farfetched—at least to the ears of those who knew no better. Anyone who knew about the magical arts would believe it to be true; something worth hypothesizing at worst.
"You have much knowledge of this planet's geography too, I see," he remarked with a small smile on his thin, dry lips. It was as though he was walking alongside a living encyclopaedia. He pondered extracting as much information as he could from her, though he had more pressing matter to deal with at the moment. Perhaps later down the road he will do so. "You are indeed a knowledgeable creature. I wonder if the rest of your species are like you in that regard."
The mention of North City was something that was going to stick to the forefront of the Magister's mind for days to come. Suri had hailed it as the best place to go for ship repairs, so Oud began to ponder of its culture and architecture. He had images of tall buildings made of steel and whirring cogs. Huge engines would line the streets at some sort of factorial jungle filled with glowing lights and gouts of steam from turbines and generators. It almost reminded him of the arcosian settlements on Namek.
"Well, then, I will have to visit this North City once I have the power to move my ship," he said in a more relaxed and gentle manner. "If what you say is true then perhaps I will not need the assistance of your arcosian acquaintance. I will have more hands repairing it, in any case. It will be much quicker and efficient."
His lips curved into a jagged grin. "And if they had any sense amongst them, they would not dare to cross me. My punishments can be quite… deadly."

Suri PL: 32,000/96,000 Majin Suri (x1/x3P)
It was no surprise that Oud noticed what Suri was doing, flying in the air while trying to send cool air his way. "Thermokinesis...? It's not...I wouldn't call it something that grand. I don't have control of temperature, only of what is mine, my energy, my aura... My aura is just naturally cold, and it easily produces cold air. Great in hot places like the desert, but not so much in...colder places, because it's harder to make it hotter."
"As for the ice cubes, those were made with my creation magic." To demonstrate again, Suri lowered herself closer to the ground, while still keeping herself floating and moving forward. Then, she magically created two bottles of water. The water was ice-cold, yet not frozen solid, like they were put in a freezer, then taken out at the perfect time. "Would you like some water, sir?" She asked while handing one bottle over to Oud. If he refused it, more for her, she would suppose.
"Oh?" Suri's eyes widened in surprise, before she put her palms forward and shook her head in denial. "Nono, I wouldn't say I'm that knowledgeable! Common knowledge as an Earthling, probably, and I also started travelling a lot this year, and..." Suri was finding excuses as to why she wasn't knowledgeable. Yet again, Suri was putting herself in low regard. She already knew pride in her ability leads to failure. Even though midterms and finals were behind her now, it seemed like she was never going to let that go. "...They're probably more knowledgeable than me in whatever regard."
Suri nodded, she at least agreed that it would be easier to just leave the ship to the experts. "They are knowledgeable enough to make a living out of repairing them, after all. And I do think it'll be better than just fixing it on your own with two people."
Then, Oud said the most unsettling thing he had said so far. 'deadly'... Surely, he jests, Suri thought. After all, people did that all the time. Falsely threatening someone's life? Common in comedy, right? Suri overreacted to jokes all the time! This must just be another instance of that.
Suri nervously laughed, "Eheheheh..." then decided a topic change was in order. "Speaking of..." of what, Suri...? "...your ship," Right. Now, what to ask about... Oh, he did never mention why his ship needed repairs in the first place. "what happened to it? Do you know why it's broken, Mr. Oud?"

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
Oud gave pause for a thought of the extent of this girl's abilities. She was quite special, that much was understood, though it seemed as though she had a ways to go when it came to establishing her magical powers. He appreciated the fact that this aura of hers was keeping the pair of them cool; he wouldn't have to worry about dehydrating or suffering from some form of heat stroke while she was around. However, it was a shame that it was as much as she could do with it.
"Do not worry," he said. "I am sure that, in time, you will learn how to expand your control over the hot and cold. You are quite the intelligent one, after all. You will work it out soon."
The majin was one who liked to demonstrate her abilities wherever and whenever she could, so Oud surmised in his mind. As she got close to the ground, the Magister's eyes watched her. Then, out of nothing, she had created a couple of objects. Magic Materialization. It was a spectacular use of magic, one that the mazoku once knew before his powers were torn from his body. It was just one more reminder of what he had lost that this majin still had. The thought made his body tense ever so slightly and only for a brief moment before he saw what she had created.
"I appreciate the offer, of course," he said before he reached out a hand to gently grasp and take one of the bottles of water from her. He could feel its frigid temperature through the plastic. It would feel even better on his tongue. He brought the neck of the bottle to his lips before taking several gulps of the fresh, cold water within. So clear, so refreshing, so much better than the water that was at the oasis. Once he had established his powers once more, this was the first thing he would create with his own materialization magics.
As much as she knew about magic, she maintained a modest outlook when it came to her own general knowledge. She knew basics, that much she admitted herself, but her travels have likely made her far more intellectual than the common folk. Oud had doubted that there were many travellers on this planet—who else could honestly come to a place like this and survive for nary a week unless well prepared?
Then, as the small talk lay aside, the Magister was questioned about his ship a little further. "It was a crash landing, unfortunately," he replied, "no doubt a malfunction from the engine or the gravity modulator. The autopilot is programmed to activate these components in order to slow descent once within the planet's stratosphere. Apparently something went wrong…"
It was something he would soon be able to show instead of tell. It took no longer than twenty or so minutes before the two of them had found themselves in front of a small namekian-designed space pod. Much of the damage was visible from the outside—the hull was dented and bent in multiple places with the bottom of it flattened from the impact onto the sands; the thick glass cockpit window had completely shattered with large and small shards both scattered on the ground and inside the pod itself.
"This is my ship," he said before taking a few steps towards it. He peered inside the cockpit, eyes scanning for the single supply hatch.
