Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
It was a marvel for the magister to behold. He stood upon the precipice of the stretched canyon, gazing down into the blackened abyss and soaking in all of the raw energy that still permeated and circulated through the cavernous deeps. He held his arms outstretched in front of him, palms up towards the sky, as though he was partaking in a ceremonial event.
It was the first time since he had been here that he felt somewhat at peace, somewhat relaxed, somewhat on the edge of finding salvation. A small smile stretched across those thin green lips of his. Then, he took in a deep breath. The air around this monument to chaos was cool as it flooded his lungs. "Ah… such great power," he cooed as he exhaled. He eyes followed and trailed that black and green strands of demonic residue that lingered here still. Even the earth, sand and rocks themselves took on fel corruption-like tints and hues from this infectious energy. "Power… that shall soon be mine to command once more."
He turned his head from side to side, gazing up and down the length of the canyon. He pondered to himself how long it had been here. He could imagine that this was left here since time lost to antiquity—it could even be the reason why this place was so barren and deserted as it was. A part of him mused that it was made recently what with the demonic corruption only being spread so little as it did. But what could have caused this? A war? An act of nature? Or perhaps a single being that had such strength to do such a thing.
The last thought made him bitter. I had that power once! And I will have it again—by any means necessary!
Oud remained stationary on the edge of the cliff, drinking in and soaking in all of that lingering energy for himself. Any other mortal would be consumed and corrupted by such powers, but the magister was different than them. He was Mazoku. He was born to demonic taint, and he relished in its absolute strength. If this was the only way for him to regain his strength, then so be it. Time did not matter for a being that aged like fine wine—he had all the time he needed before he could consider himself ready to reap the fruits of his vengeance.

She had heard talk of the place here and there since returning back from the wild. There used to be a tower here known as Muscle Tower, but something happened where it was destroyed. Now in its place was a giant crack in the ground, with dark magic rumored to be radiating from it. However, in Eve's opinion it just seemed like a sack of bullshit. Perhaps it was because she wasn't magically attuned in the slightest but she felt absolutely no energy from the fissure. It was a giant crack with dark magics radiating from it and, while impressive, she was disappointed. All she could see if she looked down was just blackness with a few particles here and there and that was it.
Why the hell did she even waste her time coming here. In disgust, Eve picked up the nearest rock she could and pitched it in. While it didn't do anything, it did make her feel slightly better which was a plus. With her business here done, Eve was ready to leave when she had spotted something odd in the distance. It seemed that she had company. He appeared to be green, perhaps a namekian. Upon flying closer, her guess was proven correct. However, she had no idea what he was doing. It just seemed as if he was standing there and reveling in the corruption. While he might have been enjoying himself, Eve just thought he looked stupid doing that.
Landing near the namekian, she spoke first. "Maybe if you want to get more power you can actually get off your butt and do something instead of just standing there sniffing the air and trying to look all evil. I'm sure that'll actually get you somewhere first" She said, rolling her eyes. Eve was sure from personal experience that if you wanted to become strong, you couldn't wait for some supernatural force to grant it to you first. It was something you had to earn on your own, and just trying to absorb the evil energy wasn't going to do anything. She knew that was the case especially when she had also tried that out long ago in her quest for strength.

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
The namekian remained steadfast upon the edge of the canyon as he allowed those violet plumes of evil aura to envelope his body as they drifted towards them, feeling a warm tingle upon his body from their dark, demonic embrace. Even just the mere breeze of this fel-fuelled power gave his body strength and energy, dispelling the lethargy he had felt ever since he had landed in this accursed place of sand, sun and storms.
Then, suddenly, he felt someone landed beside him. His gaze shifted to the side to see a strange looking creature. They were small and animalistic in physicality, though on their head carried a long tentacle that was almost reminisce of whatever race Suri, the girl he had met only a day earlier, was. He pondered on their relation and, beyond that, their level of power.
This alien carried with her a fair share of attitude when addressing the magister, words laced with venom and spite. At any other point in time Oud would have admonished her for her impudence and cast her away, but he was far too content with what he had discovered this day. No mere words from a diminutive fool would sway his mood—for now.
"Do something?" he repeated. "Silly creature, you just don't understand what I am doing, do you?"
He turned back to face the canyon. His arms came closer together, then began to slowly sway in circular motions. His hands and fingers turned and flexed as though he was leading an orchestra, all the while chanting old, arcane words in the namekian tongue.
Those plumes of smoke and strands of energy that emanated from the ruins of what once stood here began to slowly draw to the surface, then to the air above the canyon's opening. With each movement of his limbs that drawn out energy would follow. Then, they would begin to draw closer to the magister until they began to flow into him. Strands of purples and violets and greens formed a thing, twisted strand of colour before it flowed into his body. With each passing moment Oud could feel that energy swelling within him.
This was his path to power.
Eventually, his hands flung outwards, dispersing whatever energy remained in front of him back into the air around him. "Power can be drawn from anything," he spoke aloud, directing it towards the creature beside him. "But only a few can handle such demonic taint. Fortunately, I am one of them."
A wry smile spread across his thin green lips as he turned his whole body towards Eve. His eyes scanned her up and down, then settled upon her chest. He could feel something within her, though what that was was beyond his comprehension. "Interesting. You have much untapped power," he praised her. He took a few steps forward towards her, letting his height dwarf her own.
"Do you even realize your potential?" he questioned, voice dark and words rhetorical.

Well, the dumbass certainly had a knack for being dramatic that was something she was sure of. He continued his strange power absorbing ritual, trying to gain the power that Eve was convinced that he was being delusional of. Drawing power from outside source? The idea itself was laughable. No, there were only three ways one can gain power: through either natural talent, hard work or if one was lucky being born as a majin or bio android like herself, absorbing others' power. Any other way was always a sham and chances were, someone was doing it just to show off and pretend they were stronger than they actually were. Eve had seen her share of these "natural absorbers" around before and they all made her laugh. This was no exception.
A couple of snickers escaped her lips as she listened to him speak about how he was drawing from the demonic taint. "Sure you are," she said sarcastically. While she couldn't take this seriously at all, she wasn't going to stop him either. If he really wanted to partake in such a dumb practice, well, let stupid people do stupid things. As long as they didn't try to infect her with their stupidity then she'll let them do whatever the hell they wanted.
However, the conversation would also take a strange turn as he began to remark on her untapped potential. Finally someone noticed it! "Of course," Eve said puffing up her chest and raising her chin high. "You think I don't know about the power inside me." She asked. Ever since she was still Frostine, she always had a natural talent for fighting. It was a shame that her natural talent even became useless. However, she had always suspected there would be a way for her to unlock such strength. "I'm one of the strongest beings in the fleet, if not the strongest. They were the ones that chose me to become their perfect super soldier after all." Her voice was practically dripping with arrogance at this time. "But, I still need to get used to my body." She said, looking at her hands. It had been much harder getting stronger since. While Eve still had no regrets about undergoing the transformation, it was rather frustrating having to wait such a long time for her power to come back to her. If only there was simply another way.

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
This creature was far from impressed with Oud's magical abilities, that much was sure to him. Despite her blatant disrespect towards him, the Magister did not raise any sort of scorn or strife against her. After all, he was far from being strong at this point—the Guru had taken that from him long ago. Even if he wanted to prove his point he doubted that his reduced power could make a statement.
For now, he would play along with this diminutive creature through his words.
It didn't take too long for his ambrosia-sweet words to bring out Eve's arrogant side that he had seen coming from the start. If there was a way to sway people's disposition towards you toward a more favourable one, it would be to praise them and play on their own self-confidence. The mazoku knew how to do such a thing quite well.
"Oh, I would not question that one such as yourself is quite powerful," he remarked as the corner of his lips twisted into a wry grin. "I suspect that you may be one of the more stronger denizens of this planet. You are certainly stronger than most of my people on Namek, I can assure you." It was a lie, of course. Most of the disciples of the warrior clan were likely stronger than her, but he would continue to bolster her confidence in regards to her own power for a time.
"But is it what you need?" he pondered with curiosity. "You are… different… inside."
Whatever he could sense within her was something that he could not explain, yet it felt as though it was something that could be unlocked given enough motivation. He imagined a sort of chest that needed a specific key to open it. What the key was or what was inside that chest remained a mystery to him, though he knew that it would be something power.
She just needed some motivation.
"You walk as a mortal, taking no advantage from your heritage—from your talents within," he continued. "So many being of flesh are greater than you."
He unfurled an arm from behind him and swayed it to one side as though gesturing the bio android to watch. Then, suddenly, a number of humanoid illusions took shape beside them. It depicted a group of namekian fighters stood over a kneeling creature. That creature was Eve herself. Then, without warning, she was completely engulfed and vaporized by their blasts. They stood and cackled at her destruction.
Then, the illusion faded.
"Why do you stand for this?" he snapped at her as though scolding her. "Why do you submit to your body when power is bred in your bones?" He did not care about her needing to get used to her body. That was only an excuse. So many beings were old and frail and yet still had power that dwarfed either one of theirs.
"When the world of flesh is beneath you, even creatures mysterious and magical will fall!"
He gestured once more. Another illusion formed before them. It appeared to be the same as before, but the roles reversed; six namekian warriors kneeled down in defeat while Eve hovered above them. It only took one large blast of energy to reduce the warriors to nothing. Her laughs howled like an echo before the illusion vanished once more.
"Do you see it now, small one?" he spoke softly like an elder giving their child the benefit of their wisdom. "Power… is everything. It does not matter of which route you take to obtain it so long as you do."

His flatter was definitely beginning to take a stronger grasp upon her. Finally! Someone who had understood how powerful she was and outright said it at this point. It was one things for the scientist who worked on her body to claim this and it was another for some total stranger that she had just met. It wasn't just to make her feel good, but rather someone actually saw Eve who she was. As more of the honeyed words entered her ears, the larger her ego grew. Just because she wasn't as strong as some of the others in the Fleet didn't mean that she was weak either. She simply had some untapped potential from the operation that has yet to be released.
The subject would shift, turning towards what she was rather than her power. What was he even talking about? Wasn't the inside the exact same as the outside? All her powers came from all three races that were so carefully infused into her DNA. While she still had to admit that this body was still taking some getting used to, Eve was pretty damn sure that she had a strong enough control over it to use her abilities. "Wait," she she said with a shocked tone as the namekian made his claim. "What the hell do you mean they're greater than me? I'm one of the strongest people in the galaxy." Before she could say anything further, an image began to form. Eve did nothing but watch in silent horror as the namekians obliterated her. No, that couldn't be the truth. Sure she was weak now, and sure she got her ass handed to her back in the camp assault those months ago, but it was only a moment of time before she could unlock her true power. This wouldn't be her fate if she had a say in that matter, and she was going make sure she damn well had one.
For a moment, she couldn't feel anything but blinding anger, with Oud's words fueling her rage. "I'm not going to stand for it. I'm going to squeeze every ounce of power out of this body." She snarled. She was going to make sure that second illusion that he formed was going to be her reality. They were going to be the ones bowing down to her, at her complete mercy and not the other way around. "Hmmph," she replied to the namekian still angered but now coherent. "Perhaps. Although, how does one become stronger faster? You seem to know a lot about it."

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
Oud stood by and watched the small creature go through a mix of emotions once after the other. He watched her ease her body and expression the more he continued to whisper sweet nothings into her ears. He watched as her anger was drawn out at the mention of others being stronger than herself. Then, he watched as the horrors of reality shattered her confidence for a brief moment before it was fixed by self-confidence and determination alone.
She was a torrent of emotions—exploitative emotions. She would likely be one to easily manipulate should the Magister even feel the need to do so. He had already given her the motivation needed to follow through with her goals.
Her anger. That was something that Oud could indeed siphon and exploit. He let a smirk spread across his thin lips for just a moment before he returned to a more natural expression. "Indeed, small one," he responded once she had gathered her thoughts and mind enough to become coherent once more. "You are born of the very essence of that which takes life. You have power if you wish it."
The small android had her own question for the Magister though. It was a simple enough query to answer. "With effort, of course." It was a short answer, perhaps not one that she would accept so readily, though Oud continued, "One can become stronger by lifting weights, practicing martial arts, or studying the magical powers that lie within the arcane—all are forms of power. But, to gain it faster, you must be willing to put in the time and effort and dedication towards that form."
He looked down at her. As much as she was diminutive, she was also determined to do whatever she could to walk down this path to power.
"What you need to understand right now is not how you would walk a path of power, but how you would deal with those who stand in your way," motioned the mazoku. "You may make allies on your way to strength but you will certainly make enemies that will contest you for that power. They will either attack in retaliation of what you have become, or they will strike you out of fear of what you could become."
He turned to one side, glancing at nothing but the sands that stretched out before them. "Walk among them, these beasts that are less than you are," he advised. "See their strengths—see how you easily you could fall to their muscle and magic and skill. Then, learn and understand what you must do to eliminate them should they ever become a threat to your goals."

If Frostine wasn't starving for power, Eve wouldn't be here today. If she hadn't been desperate to do anything to be stronger, she would never have all the limitless potential she had now. The old echoes of her past life reflected itself within her mind. Even after Frostine had died, things had never changed. She had inherited her lust for power from her previous self and that desire was what strove her to become the Fleet's prime candidate to become their best super solider. She had worked this hard to gain the strength she so badly desired, and Eve wasn't going to let anyone one up her anymore. While she might be a leech right now, eventually she was going to grow into the cream of the crop. She was going to make damn well sure of this!
The answer that she received for her question was very general, effort. Of course, it was how her stupid sister surpassed her in her past life. It was something that she didn't put in due to her natural talent and paid the price for. Didn't she put up all the effort that she needed already? She spent six months training to increase her strength, countless others to reach up to her peers. "Bullshit," she called out at his statement despite the fact that she was the one that asked for advice anyways. Her eyes scanned the floor of the desert until she found a lone rodent running around. Without even blinking, Eve moved towards the rat and took hold of its tail before moving right back in front of him, all taking place in about a second. Smirking at the namekian, she then proceeded to hold the squirming creature between her fingers. "I have something better than effort." Looking the rodent in the eyes, she then opened her mouth. A blue wisp began to flow out of its mouth and into her mouth as it quickly stopped moving entirely.
Eve couldn't help put spit, that tasted terrible and she doubt it was going to do anything to raise her power. "I have the power to take others' lives and make it my own." She said before throwing the carcass down into the seemingly endless fissure. "As long as I have the chance, I can make them become one of my own. If they even dare go against me I'll make sure that they'll pay for it while I grow stronger in the process.

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
Stubborn and arrogant; those were the thoughts that ran through the Magister's head on what to label this small creature. He had already offered her the advice that she needed should she be determined to follow through on this power climb of hers. He had already instructed her on what her next step along this path would be so long as she was willing to take that step forward. But, in the end, she thought her strength alone could carry her through it.
He had already been shown himself that strength was not everything.
Oud shook his head. He let it hang as the silence began to permeate between the two of them. As much as Eve had demonstrated her power to siphon the life force of others—much like he could albeit in a different manner—it wasn't going to be her saving grace in the long run.
"And how will you take the lives of those who are stronger than you?"
It was a simple question yet one he doubted his alien acquaintance would be able to answer. If the answer wasn't satisfying to him, then there was little chance that the answer would satisfy herself. She was a proud individual; he doubted she would ever convince herself that such a scenario was even possible.
"There are hundreds of thousands of powerful entities in this universe, child," he continued, raising his voice in some vain attempt to get her to understand her position, "each of them stronger than the last and all of them stronger than you and I both. Will you blindly invite death to your own door in your reckless abandon to obtain power? Will you continue to cling to the past or can you see through the pain that awaits you?"
There was little chance that Eve would be able to see reason amongst the words of the Magister. If he could not motivate her and get her to see the correct course of action through logic, then he will inspire it within her through fear.
"What you have is indeed a gift, child," he said, speaking in a more calm voice now. "I thought the same when I found the ability to siphon the magical energies. In my lust for power, I lost it all. Every ounce of might and magic I had was ripped from my body and my soul. I was fortunate to keep my life. You, on the other hand, might not be so fortunate."

The question hung on the air for a short while, settling around them with an uneasy silence. That was a question that she had always asked herself. How would she become stronger? While in name she was a super soldier her actual power proved so otherwise. While she was stronger than most of Arcose's armies, she wasn't actually very strong at all. She couldn't hide the truth behind her own bravado. "Well I'll just leech off the kills." She said with a shrug. "I'll let others do the dirty work for me and I'll just be there to finish it off." It did seem like a plan that has been working well for her already after all. Granted, while Eve still preferred to get her hands dirty herself, as she loved to be the ones to end their lives this wasn't such a bad idea, especially when she wanted to become stronger.
"Of course, I can see through the pain. Why do you think I'm alive today. I survived things you could never have imagined." She would then hold up her hand, showing the circular scar that had taken up most of her palm. "I've gone through countless amounts of pain before, this isn't my first song and dance at all." She then scoffed, throwing the appendage on her head over her shoulder. Why did he even think to underestimate who she was? Just because she strong didn't mean that she didn't have a brain of her own otherwise. If she actually put in the effort, she could have graduated from the top of Arcose's Academies as one of the smartest people there. However, she was simply too lazy to be intellectual and preferred to be strong. "I'll be honest with you, I'm loyal to the Fleet because they gave me this powerful body. But if I see someone even stronger, I might consider joining up with them." That was only a partial truth. After all, the Fleet was her home and all she knew. Leaving it would be terrifying, however, if it meant pursuing true power she wouldn't second guess herself.
However, what would happen if Eve lost her power to consume the life force of everyone? She hadn't known herself. Stripped of one of her primary ways of obtaining power, she would become a typical nobody like everyone else. The thought of that was horrifying and something that she didn't want to currently think about. "Well then, I'll just pick battles I'll know I win and avoid those I can't I'm not that stupid. I've learned my lesson after trying to pick a fight with someone stronger than me and I even hardly escaped with my own life." Eve's mind went back to that camp assault and scowled. That came too close for her liking.

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
It was beginning to become apparent that whatever this creature was was not anything of natural selection of creation, but something artificial. The girl was beginning to talk about her body as though it was not actually her own, lending credence that she was something else entirely. The Magister was well versed in the knowledge of creating artificial life forms, although his methods were derived from the magical arts than it was from any sort of scientific understanding. He was beginning to understand why Eve was the way she was. She wanted to prove that her new body truly made her powerful. Compared to Oud, she was.
"I see. So you are a grifter that has the capability of leeching the life from other creatures," replied Oud with a monotonous, almost cold tone. However, he grin afterwards showed his approval of such a tactic. "Then, perhaps, you will do well in this world. For your sake I hope you plan to pick your fights carefully."
It wasn't much longer before the alien had decided to show Oud the large circular scar on the palm of her hand. For the life of him the mazoku could not begin to comprehend why she had such a scar or even its significance to her and her going through pain. If anything it looked like a simple burn mark or a circular laceration from something. It was a short-lived pain. Pain that was dealt with, fired and forgotten. It wasn't the pain that he himself was talking about. What he referred to was pain that would haunt her for years to come, perhaps even the rest of her life.
Still, it didn't matter. Oud let the subject alone. He doubted it would do anything to sway the creature's opinion on the matter, in any case.
"So you do not make alliances out of loyalty, but merely to indulge in your own self-preservation and desires," he indicted just like before, a stern and shallow tone. However, there was no smirk this time. He only hummed with a straight face. "Truly a grifter. Perhaps that will be what you need to do to keep your own life, as selfish as it is. A good strategy, regardless."
It seemed as though Eve had experience with trying to take down prey much larger than her, so the terminology would be in this case. The Magister shook his head. "No, of course you are not that stupid," reiterated Oud almost in agreement, "but lacking in critical thinking skills, nonetheless. It is fortunate that dumb luck follows you. The irony is not lost on me, either."

Well... that was one way he could put her abilities. Eve wasn't particularly happy with the description herself, especially when it made it sound so dirty. She had always thought of it more as taking away the power from the week to grow collectively stronger. That sounded a hell of a lot better than what he just said. She simply rolled her eyes at that statement. "Yeah, yeah whatever." She muttered out of annoyance, although she had crossed her arms trying to let it not bother her too much. "Learned that lesson through and far. I'm not going to play with an inferno anymore." Despite having such an amazing power and the capability to become stronger, Eve knew that she wasn't immortal. Picking fights that she couldn't win will result in her losing. As much as it sucked, it was the reality of the world and there was absolutely nothing she was able to do to change this.
However, she would muse upon the next statement he said. Yeah, she did choose to stay in the Fleet because of how powerful they were, but it was also due to what they had done in her life as well. It was a sort of repayment of some sort, although at this point in time she couldn't think of even betraying the Fleet. They were truly the most powerful organization she knew. "You can say that, although I don't serve coward. I do have standards after all." She casually commented. Never in a million years would she ever find herself joining the Saiyan Kingdom. She had been trained all her life to think negatively of the faction and there was no way in hell that opinion of them would ever change. Eve would sooner die than submit to them.
Eve was once again off put by another statement that he said. "What do you mean I lack in critical thinking? I can think critically, and I know a hell of a lot smarter than you think I am. I'm not surviving out of luck but pure skill, unlike you." She growled, very upset by the words that he had tossed at her. "For starters, I have won many fights that I've chosen the past and won." Eve said pointing her head to the air out of a gesture of arrogance. "What makes you even think otherwise?" This guy was once again spouting nonsense. There was absolutely no way that she was just alive by luck at this point. There was always another reason why she was still here and kicking, and she refused to believe it was by luck

Magister Oud PL: 1,000 (Base)
The alien did not seem to be particularly willing to acknowledge what she was and what she was doing, thought it mattered not in the long run. The Magister could understand how her powers were being used and how it benefited her. Regardless of how she used them, she understood that it was a case of kill or be killed—survival of the fittest—and she knew how to play the game well. After all, it got her this far.
”Indeed, a smart choice,” he replied as he turned away from her. He glanced out over the dark chasm beneath them, gazing out into the horizon beyond. He recalled the last few days of his time on Namek before he was exiled—before he was left for dead in the cold, vast void of space. ”But there will be times when you will not have a choice but to submerge yourself in that inferno,” he prophesized. He had done the same. He was burned by it. ”There will be a time when you will end up in the eye of the storm, and then you must choose—do you remain within it and pray for safety, or will you try and walk through it and hope you are not reduced to nothing but smouldering ash?”
The Magister grinned. By the girl’s own admission, she would never serve a coward. But, by the same token, she also said that she would consider betraying the Fleet if she had found someone stronger to serve. That was the inferno. He would soon explain it.
But for now, he remained silent, listening only to the small creature’s words in amusement. She was definitely a hot-headed one, easily swayed by her own emotions whether it was stroking her ego or stoking the fires of her ill-temperament. She was even able to throw back insults, showing her sharp tongue but also the insecurities it had attempted to hide. She was sure of herself, sure of her new, stronger body, but what if that was broken? Would if that body simply was not strong enough?
Would her spirit also shatter like glass?
”Admittedly I am here now because of that little, unseen force that we call ‘luck’,” responded Oud. ”And whether you realize it or not, you are also here because of it.” He turned back to her, glancing down at her diminutive form. ”Was it skill that allowed you to meet these Fleet members? Was it skill that allowed you to obtain this new body? Was it skill that kept you out of sight of those stronger than you? Or… was it all luck? No. No, I don’t think any of that has to do with skill.”
