Tarch PL: 125,000. Energy Setting: 10,000
Already, Earth was beginning to shrink away from Tarch’s little pod as he began his escape from his home planet. However, before he could get too far he spotted something in the Western Verge. Far beyond the wreckage of West City, was a large flat dome. Though he had never seen it for himself, the teen had often heard people talking about a sort of lookout where the guardian of Earth lived. He also recalled meeting that very same guardian just days after he came back from his first trip to Namek. Maybe Chime could help him see his mother again.
He knew Oboe had a sort of similar position on Namek, but he never fully understood what that meant. The way he worded the title of Guru sounded a bit different from Kami. Really, Tarch didn’t understand what Kami meant either. As far as he knew that still equated Chime to a god of some sorts, while Oboe was a spiritual leader. While Tarch really wanted to just leave Earth and never look back until his mother was back, he also couldn’t help but see if the sort of god of Earth could lend a hand in any way first.
Mind made up, the saiyan tapped a couple of button on his space pod and directed it toward the Timeless Lookout. No more than a minute later, and the space-faring ball was lightly tapping down onto soft white tile. The door opened with a low hiss, and the teen dragged himself out of his pod, grunting in pain as he did so. The place seemed empty, and he was still far too injured to sense anyone properly. Something about that seemed familiar actually.
“H-hello?” Tarch called out to the large palace-like structure on the end. Was Chime even here? Was anybody here? More importantly, was this rude? Before now he never actually seen this place let alone knew if it really existed. Now here he was just passing by, seeing the place on a fluke, and just barging in without a word. Should he maybe say something telepathically?
“Mr. Chime, sir? A-are you here?”
There was just one issue. In his battered state and still shaky emotional state, his telepathy was incredibly weak. Not to mention it had been some time since he actually met the little Namekian. Even if his mental link would reach out, all the kami would hear would be a hushed and unintelligible whisper.

Chime's PL: 90,000
Chime was actually, for once, not there, but he wasn't far. He was down below at the Senbyo's tower, where he'd just finished checking in with Nashi, and was currently taking the long flight back up. He wasn't the fastest flier, not like some people who could zip up to the Lookout and back down like it was nothing. Ironic, seeing as he was the person that spent the most time there. As he was musing on how he should really practice getting faster, a shape caught his eye, zooming above him through the clouds. Chime couldn't get a good look at it before it vanished behind a cloud again, but it wasn't person-shaped. A ship, then? It was headed towards the Lookout, whatever it was, so he sped up as much as he could to meet it.
He was nearly to the platform when he felt a voice in his mind, very faint. Chime was no stranger to contacting people via telepathy, but he realized with a jolt that no one had ever contacted him. Now he understood why people always seemed so surprised; having someone else's voice suddenly in your head was pretty startling. There weren't many options of who it could be, though, so when Chime cleared the rim of the Lookout to see Tarch standing there with his space pod, he wasn't surprised.
"Tarch, hi! How are-- oh," Chime began, but as he got closer, his question was answered before he asked it. Tarch didn't look well at all. The boy looked roughed up, and besides that, just lost. Chime quickly crosses the tile floor until he was standing just an arm's length from him, hand held up as if he wanted to close the distance and check him for injuries, but refraining for now, "...What happened?"

Tarch jumped, expecting to see the guardian coming from the building in front of him rather than down below. He hadn’t even seen the tower directly beneath the lookout since he only saw the whole thing from above. Either way, the teen considered himself lucky that Chime was quick to not only respond but show up as soon as he called him. Of course, now he wasn’t even sure what to do next. Honestly, he hadn’t even planned this far ahead, or at all really. He was here on a literal passing whim to see if Kami could help.
“H-hey. I uh…” Tarch was already at a loss. He didn’t want to go into details for the second time in one hour, but he couldn’t not tell god. That was blast themes, wasn’t it? Is that even the right word? So he took a deep breath, mentally steeling himself for the second recollection of the day. “My best friend attacked West City. I came to try and calm him down, which is how I got so beat up." Speaking of said injuries, he wouldn't stop Chime if he did indeed try to take a look. Oboe already tried healing him, with more than decent success with the exception of the few major injuries. Maybe Chime could get the rest? For now he'd continue his brief story. "My mom tried to stop him too but…” the saiyan sniffled softly. He did, however, perk up slightly when he realized this was actually a good way to lead into the reason he came here in the first place. “My mom died trying to stop him. So I was wondering. Since you’re kinda like a god. Is there anything you can do? Bring her back, or something?”
He knew this was a long shot at best. Chime had already explained to him that he was really only a god in title alone. In hindsight, maybe asking this of the Namekian would only serve to make two people feel bad about the situation. Should he apologize? After a brief moment of thought, the teen figured he wasn’t doing anything wrong. Chime may not be an actual god in the literal sense, but he was still the guardian of Earth, that meant plenty and Tarch certainly believed in him.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized anyway, “I know this is really sudden. I just… I don’t know what to do. I’m literally about to go to Namek to use the Dragon Balls but. I just feel… lost?” That was the only word he could think to use. Tarch was nearly fourteen now, but he was already feeling like he had no idea what he was doing. Weren’t teenagers supposed to do stupid things? “I know you can’t bring her back. I’m sorry that was a stupid thing to ask. But I just don’t know what to do. I guess I just thought ‘who better than god to help?’ Right?”

"West City...so that was you."
Chime had heard scattered reports about an attack on West City (or rather, the others on the Lookout that actually used the internet had heard, and had passed along the information), but before he had heard anything, he'd felt it. A massive explosion of energy had erupted from the city not long ago, and then...nothing. Chime could sense the population still there and alive, so he knew there hadn't been any mass death and destruction, but it was still concerning. He actually planned to go check it out soon, but it seemed the information was literally knocking on his door.
As Tarch explained further, Chime's heart sank. His mothing dying to his best friend...that was basically the most tragic thing the Kami could remember hearing lately, and there'd been some really messed up things happening in the past month! Chime wrung his hands, not really sure what to do with himself. Should he give Tarch a hug? The kid looked pretty rough, and he'd obviously been through hell, by his story, but maybe he wanted to be left alone right now? The Namekian stood there fretting for another minute, "Tarch that's...that's terrible. I'm sorry. I felt something happen out there, something big, but then nothing else, so that must've been the tail end of it. ...Do you need healing? Or just to sit down a minute? Or-- oh, I know!" And in a flash of light, he materialized a shiny red apple, which he handed to the young Saiyan. Apples were the healthiest food for Earthlings, or so Chime had gathered. It was also the healthiest thing he could make, since the rest of his magical menu consisted of instant noodles and junk food.
In answer to the question about his mother, Chime signed, rubbed the back of his neck, and averted his gaze, "...I can't bring back the dead, Tarch, I'm sorry. I can heal injuries, but if they're already gone, then...that's something only the Dragons can fix. You could go to Namek, but from what I heard, things are getting pretty wild back there, too. Or...you could stay here, and look for our Dragon Balls instead." he turned his head up to the sky and shut his eyes momentarily as if trying to hear something, "...They should be just about ready again. Just be warned that wish hunting tends to get pretty dangerous, in my experience. But you probably know that already."
Gaze still trained on the sky, Chime frowned as a thought came to him. He couldn't resurrect Tarch's mother, but maybe... "Hey, uh. This is probably a long shot, but. I did manage to sort of...project myself into the afterlife, once? It was by accident, after my..." He trailed off, blinking after a second to clear his thoughts, "--Um. Anyway. I've only done it successfully once, is the point, but it couldn't hurt to try again? Although," his frown deepened and he scratched his head, "I knew the person I projecting myself to, that time. And I've never met your mother. So...hrm." Chime lapsed into thought, frowning at the floor. He really wanted to help Tarch more than just give him an apple, but he wasn't sure how to even make this work.

“Y-yeah. That was me. And my best friend. Little bug guy named Chromo.” Tarch felt a sharp pang of guilt. He had already come to terms that this was both his and Chromo’s fault. Of course, he couldn’t forget the part Tanga played in all of this. But thanks to him, who knows what sort of trouble Chromo could be causing. Perhaps he wasn’t though. He did see the letter. He wouldn't worry about that now. For now, he would gladly take Kami’s offer to have a seat.
“Sitting sounds good,” the teen sighed, leaning his back up against his pod and taking a bite of the magically crafted apple. “So does the healing. But Mr. Oboe, he’s the uh Guru of Namek, whatever that is. He tried to heal me. Got most of the little stuff, but I guess some of the more serious damage needs time.” Then Chime brought of what Tarch was sure he already knew. Kami or not, there was no bringing back the dead by anyone other than the dragons. Luckily, he had that covered, sort of. He did have the radar the aforementioned Guru gave him. That should help with getting the Dragons. Tarch let out a small sigh, not entirely shocked but still a little down. That was until Chime brought up an idea.
“Wait, you mean you can give my mom a message?!” Tarch perked up. What he wouldn’t give for someone to just let his mother know that he was okay and that he was going to try and make things right. There was just one problem. Chime knew who he was reaching out to last time he did this. Tarch wasn’t going to give up though. “Maybe I can help? I have telepathy too! I don’t know how to use it to talk to anyone in another world, or heck even a dead person, but I know my mom! Can we try?” Though not overly excited, this was the happiest Tarch had been in the past few days alone. If he could even try to help with whatever Chime would try, he wasn’t going to give up until he got it… if he could get it at all.

Chime had half a mind to ask after this Chromo character, and what exactly had happened to him. Either Tarch had killed him, and there was nothing to worry about, or the little bug was buzzing around the Earth, ready to cause more trouble. He would bet on the latter. He'd only met Tarch once before, but the boy had left the impression of a good, kind soul. He didn't think the kid had it in him to kill anyone, much less his best friend. Still, losing your parent could drive you to all sorts of things...Chime would ask, but later. There was another matter obviously on the young Saiyan's mind now.
"I can maybe give her a message," He corrected, and held his hands up in a universal 'whoa, slow down partner' gesture, "I can't guarantee it will work. But I'm going to try my best. And between the two of us, I think we have a pretty good shot. Here...c'mere," and he waved for Tarch to follow him over to one of the large palm trees set in rows along the Lookout. He sat down on the grass beneath one, cross-legged, and pat the ground for Tarch to do the same. Chime took up a meditative pose and took a deep breath.
"Alright. I know this might be, er, difficult, given the circumstances, but I need you to think of your mother. Not about what happened just...her, as a person. Her name and what she looks like, for starters, but more than that. What sort of foods she likes, the sound of her voice, little odd habits...all the things that make a person unique. I need you to think all that up and send it to me, telepathically." He paused to tap his temple, "If I'm right, I'll be able to use those thoughts as a focus to contact her, even though I've never met her before. Ready?"

Maybe was better than nothing. Even after everything that happened to him, Tarch would always prefer to be a disappointed optimist over a slightly less disappointed pessimist. So he followed Chime over toward the trees, taking a seat next to the Kami. He was sure to listen carefully, noting everything he had to tell him in order to possibly contact his mother. Shouldn’t be too hard. He may have only known her for about a year, but in that year he grew to know and love her as if she was there from the beginning.
“Well, she-” Tarch spoke aloud. He then remembered this had to be done telepathically.
“Err, sorry. I got a little excited.” the youth apologized this time mentally. “A-anyway. Her name is Kohlra. She’s a little over my height, so she’s probably five six? My dad says I look a lot like her, and I do except for the eyes. Hers are dark. Pretty muscular, long black hair, usually pretty messy. Her voice is a little lower than mine and a little scratchy. She’s got a bit of a quick temper but really is super warm. Even if she won’t ever admit it. She’s a loving mom who would rather…” he paused. Tarch was about to say ‘she’d rather die than see anything happen to her family and would kill whoever did it.’ The thing was, that already happened. “Well, she did die to make sure nothing happened to me. Heck she even threatened the Queen of Vegeta after she found out Kayen slashed me. She’s a very strong person overall, not just like physical but just in general. Is uh… is that good enough?”

As Tarch's description of his mother flowed into Chime's mind, the Kami began to construct the image of her in his head. Kohlra. He started by picturing Tarch himself, but taller, and an adult, and a woman. So already not much like Tarch at all. Dark eyes, dark messy hair...the picture got more and more distinct in his mind's eye as they went on. He wasn't sure if Tarch was just good at painting a mental image, or if he was somehow drawing on the very idea of his mother from the young Saiyan's memories. He felt like they were almost there, but then the next thing said made Chime's eyes fly open in alarm.
"The Queen slashed you?!" He exclaimed, his healer's instincts kicking in. But Tarch was alright. Whatever incident he was talking about was clearly in the past, and his current hurts were all from West City, and had been mostly healed by Oboe besides. Chime sighed and screwed his eyes shut again, "Er, sorry, sorry. Back to moms."
Where was he? Warm demeanor, dark hair, pink shirts, strong arms...wait, pink shirts? Had Tarch told him that? Chime didn't think so. Whatever spark of inspiration had caused him to add that tiny detail, he it could only be a good sign. With this image in mind, Chime pushed his consciousness outwards, out towards the farthest planets. Tarch might have felt his mind being taken along with, though it was more a side-effect of how Chime was trying to find his target, and not something he was doing on purpose. The Guardian sat there unaware of any effect he was having on his Saiyan friend, eyes tightly shut and a frown on his face. The farthest planets weren't good enough. She wasn't on a planet. He had to push past this. He had to--
Something lurched in his mind, like being suddenly dunked into cold water, and then everything went quiet and serene. Where there was just an idea of a person in his mind a second ago, now there was an energy. It felt both impossibly distant and very present, all at once. Tentatively, he reached out:
"Hello? I sure hope I did this right. Kohlra ? Are you her? Whoever I've got, don't worry, it's just Kami!"
Using [UT3] Telepathy!
Not 100% sure how to proceed here. Are we allowed to just bring Kohlra into this thread or do we need to make on in Space?

Today was an ordinary day in Heaven, and Kohlra still had yet to find any people to join her school. Typha might’ve been interested, but even she was a little unsure if he was gonna hang around or anything. He was getting taught by that King Kai guy, so she understood that he didn’t want to get trained under ANOTHER person. Speaking of training though, Kohlra has been doing quite a lot of it; going to the various small worlds that Heaven had and training on ‘em. She just recently gotten finished with some pain endurance training, which really just involved her blasting ki blasts out in front of her and letting said blasts come around to hit her. By the end of her training, she was covered in various bruises, cuts, and burns from the intense training she put herself through, and she’d end her training by relaxing in one of the craters she had made, staring up at the golden skies that Heaven had.
She had to admit… this place looked pretty sweet. It’s funny how she even managed to land herself here to begin with, especially with all the crap she’s done in the past. She wouldn’t consider herself a good person, really… so hearing Yemma telling her that she had a spot up here? That’s pretty amazing! The saiyan smirked to herself, letting out a sigh and closing her eyes. As much as she enjoyed this place, she still wanted to be with her family more than anything… especially her son. She left him all alone down there, but that’ll change whenever she comes back, that’s for sure.
The saiyan was about to doze off as she continued to lay there, but something weird would happen. She heard a voice in her head… and apparently it was Kami? Was she going crazy already? The saiyan, letting out a sigh, would say out loud, “Yeah? This is Kohlra speaking…” The saiyan blinked, only to remember that her son had this little technique. Was someone talking to her via her mind? “Something happen? Not really sure why the Kami would just talk to me outta the blue, unless you got the wrong number… or however telepathy or whatever works. Anyways, what’s up?”
Kohlra has picked up the phone!

“Momma?” Tarch’s lower lip was quivering, his chest felt light and airy. “Momma!” Without even thinking, Tarch immediately threw his arms around Chime, hugging him as tight as possible in his injured state as if that could somehow be transmitted telepathically. Of course, it was only a few seconds later the teen would realize he was hugging a small teal alien and not his mother. He backed away with a teary laugh. “S-sorry Mr. Chime.”
Tarch would resume his focus back on the telepathic conversation. “Hi, mom!” For a moment he couldn’t think of anything else to say. He was so overwhelmed with joy that the only words coming to him were ‘hi’ and ‘mom.’ Of course, had had all sorts of questions for her. “Are you okay?” Maybe not that one. “Th-that’s a dumb question, isn’t it? B-but are you? What’s the afterlife like? I-is it nice? What does it look like? Are you- Is it-” How quickly he went from speechless to completely flooded with thoughts. One after another his questions poured out without the need to take a breath thanks to telepathy. Tarch was absolutely beside himself. To say he could hardly contain himself was an understatement to be sure. “Sorry Ma, I’m just… I’m just so happy to hear you is all.” He took a moment to wipe some errant tears from his face.

Chime broke into a grin as soon as he heard Kohlra's voice. It worked! He did it! Ever since that episode when he was drawn through reality, to Synthesia's judgment at Yemma's court, he'd been trying to recreate the effect. He'd felt he'd gotten close before, but every time his mind had failed to 'latch on' to anything on the other side, for lack of a better way to put it. Now, though, his consciousness had found purchase with Kohlra's, and he couldn't be happier.
Well, he could be, if his name was Tarch. The Saiyan teen wasn't the tallest or most muscular example of his race, but he was still a Saiyan, and being crushed in a hug by him was definitely an experience. Chime's eyes flew open, and he nearly lost concentration on the telepathy, but Tarch had the good sense to let go and give him room to breathe a moment later. He gave his friend a smile and reassuring squeeze on the shoulder before shutting his eyes again and refocusing.
"I'm pretty positive I got the right number! I'm a friend of your son, and he wanted to talk to you. I wasn't sure this would even work but I'm glad it did! He's looking good, by the way. A little beat up from West City still but nothing permanent, don't worry. And I fed him!" Chime knew parents' usual concerns were 'are you healthy' and 'have you been eating well', so he wanted to knock those out right off the bat.

What came next wasn’t Kami’s voice at all. It was someone else, someone more… “Tarch?” Her voice was quiet at first, taken by surprise from the sudden realization that she was now talking to her son. Her eyes were wide open, jaw agape… “Holy sh-... Holy crap, it’s…” Whenever he called her out a second time, she would hold her hand up to her mouth. She was lucky that nobody was watching her right about now, ‘cause now she’s experiencing a lil’ bit of the waterworks. She’d stand herself up from where she was, letting out a shaky sigh and chuckling whenever she heard her son’s voice once again. “Hi, son.” The saiyan said, wiping her eyes briefly.
This full-blooded, hot-headed, saiyan was reduced to tears upon hearing her son’s voice, and she’d grow silent as her son began to barrage her with various questions. Kohlra could only let out a chuckle as he talked, continuing to listen to his concerns. He asked if she was okay, what the Afterlife was like, what it looked like… Damn, he hadn’t changed one bit, even after the hell that was in West City. Who was she kidding? He had her blood! So he was tough as nails, even if he doesn’t act like it at times. After a moment of silence on her end, she’d finally speak after she heard Chime’s voice, nodding (even though he couldn’t see it probably), “Thanks, Kami. I really appreciate ya doing all that, especially this. Never thought I’d have the chance to…” She’d trail off, instead deciding to go ahead and answer her son’s questions.
“Tarch, uh… I’m doing alright. No question is a stupid one to me, so ask away.” She reassured him. “I’ve been doing well up here- in Heaven. The Afterlife isn’t really all that bad, really… more peaceful than anything, plus you can just about do anything ya want.” She would let out a snicker, “They have food courts, a little tournament place, some big ol’ meadow, and they also have some small, floating planets all around. I’m actually sitting on one right now! Just got done with some intense training, actually.” This place was really great honestly, and she’s been growing in power too. “I’m so glad to hear your voice again though. But enough about me though… how are you doing down there?” She began to ask, “I heard that you’re a lil’ beaten up… did you get bandaged up or anything? You talked to Saizomaru or anything about what happened, or is he busy with something still? Does your dad know about all this?” And when she mentioned ‘dad’, she meant Tarch’s actual dad. Hopefully Tarch didn’t tell him that she died or anything, because really the last thing she wanted was to be viewed as irresponsible or something like that. She shouldn’t have died there… she should’ve…
“Before you answer, kid… I saw what happened down there.” If she didn’t die, then her son wouldn’t have… “You became what I’ve been training to get for ages and… you managed to earn it.” Super Saiyan. “I’m proud of you. You’ve surpassed your mother and… I can’t describe how happy I am to hear that you’ve gotten this far… and you’re at a real young age too. You’re a real prodigy, you know that?” She’d laugh.

Tarch laughed. Now it was his mother flooding him with questions. That was okay though. She was the one person he wanted to talk to more than anyone in this world or any other. The afterlife sounded like a cool place too! Naturally, he had no desire to see it for himself any time soon, but maybe when he was an old man he could look forward to a peaceful time after his passing. Plus he could still train up there too. Though he’d probably be a little too old for it by then. Would he? Ms. Kayen said that saiyans kept their youth for a long time. Did that apply to half breeds? The teen shook his head in an effort to try and refocus himself.
“Yeah, after you died I kinda…” he didn’t need to finish his sentence. Even in death, she was watching over him, and she was proud. “Thanks, mom. I didn’t kill him though… I couldn’t. He did get in a lotta good hits though, and so did I but…” Tarch was no killer, nor did he ever intend to even imagine he was. “He was my best friend,” he trailed off, a tear coming to his uncovered eye. The mention of his stepfather also brought a pang of guilt. One he didn’t even tell his human family, but now Saizomaru was out of the loop too. On top of all that, his sister, a girl he loved and cared about now wanted him dead. “I talked to Kon… but…”
With a decisive sniffle, Tarch wiped his face clear, taking up a more cheery tone once more. “I uh, I actually didn’t think to tell Sai. I think he’s busy with Pride Trooper stuff anyway. But! I’m gonna… I’m gonna fix this!” He took a breath before puffing his chest out with pride. “Mr. Oboe gave me a dragon ball radar! So I’m going to go to Namek and bring you back! Then-” he stopped himself short. In all honesty, Tarch had two wishes in mind. One, of course, was to bring his mother back from the dead. The other one was something he actually wanted to keep a surprise. Plus as much as he trusted Chime, he wasn’t sure the Kami would approve. “Well, I don’t know about the other two wishes but I guess we’ll see!” Tarch finished with a firm nod, along with the most genuine smile he ever worse in the past few days.
