Arcades were always a place that Synthesia kept at the back of his mind.
Yet again, Synthesia was on another expedition, searching for wildlife and plants to bring home. There were no flowers in an arcade. There was, however, fun to be had. Searching for plants around the west side of the continent was something that Synthesia had done many times before, and was simply making his rounds before he found himself caught up in the city. He first went to sip coffee in a nice Café, outside, while looking at all the passerby, like in movies and books.
However upon actually doing it, Synthesia realized that it was far more boring than he thought, and coffee was gross. He left dejected, and tried to find something else to do. He'd climb up random buildings, then back down again, until someone caught him and kicked him out. Thus, the cycle continued, with Synthesia having nothing to do. Eventually, though, the bright lights of the ancient relic drew Synthesia near.
While Arcades were an old relic, apparently the retro fans of the colorful machines had been sizable enough to bring one back. Synthesia would've preferred something more modern, but it was hard to set up a console in the middle of the forest. Thus, Synthesia wandered through the arcade with several tokens in hand, trying to find one that caught his eye.
He tried out a couple of interesting ones. The first one he tried was a fighting game. He selected the most natural-looking character and played for as long as he could. Unfortunately, as long as he could wasn't very long at all, for Synthesia was incredibly poor at fighting games, so he now knew. The next type he tried was shooter games. Since he couldn't find a shooting game that didn't have him shooting animals or people, he decided that perhaps the genre wasn't for him. Synthesia began to wonder if there was any sort of game he'd be suited for at all. As if on cue, one presented itself- a racing game, Bao Cart.
Synthesia tentatively made his way to the strangely-ornamented machine, and took a seat in one of the two driver's chairs. He felt around for a little while- getting comfortable, testing out the pedals, the gears, everything he'd need to know for a few games. He knew next to nothing about driving any sort of vehicle, and he expected to not do well in such a game. However, these doubts were sidelined for a more optimistic outlook- maybe racing games were the one for him after all.
The lid to his container of tokens was pried open.
