Kiko’s PL: 5,000 Basil’s PL: 5,000 Bravo’s PL: 5,000 | 15,000 Brand’s PL; 16,000
Kiko laid on her couch in the library of her castle. She had just finished her last lesson of the day with Basil, and she was feeling drained. Math equations and snippets about the history of Vegeta floated around in her head, annoying her. Bored. She wondered what Tarch was up to. She hadn’t heard from him in a while. While she definitely totally didn’t miss him, she thought that he should be more considerate of her feelings. Leaving her on Vegeta all alone. Without another friend - er, um… living person! - her age. Maybe she should check on him. Just to see how he was doing. It wasn’t like she just wanted to hear his voice or anything. Definitely not. Closing her eyes, Kiko reached out with her divine senses, scanning the galaxy for him. First, she checked Earth because that was where they had met. Nope. Nothing Tarch-like coming from Earth. Weird. Where else would he be? He wasn’t on Vegeta. She knew that much. She tried Konats next. It was a long shot, so she wasn’t too disappointed when she didn’t sense him there either. Oh! Maybe Namek? There were Dragon Balls over there. Maybe he had gone to get a wish or something. Ah-ha! There was definitely a Tarch there! Smiling to herself, she sent a mental ping to her disciples. It was time for a trip anyway. Once she sensed them heading her way, Kiko reached out to Tarch’s mind. “Tarch! Your goddess has decided to say hello!”
…
“Hello!”Kiko giggled at her own joke. “What have you been up to? It’s been really boring here on Vegeta… Basil keeps drilling me on my equations. I think I’m gonna die. Oh, Kayen came over the other day to see the castle. She didn’t seem really happy for some reason. Well, you know she should be impressed. I made it in just a month! It’s not like any foolish mortal could do that.”Feeling herself get slightly annoyed at Kayen, Kiko decided to just drop it and focus on Tarch. Because she totally didn’t want to see him again or hear his voice. No. That would be silly. Still, she was curious. “So, uh, actually. What are you doing on Namek? I kind of expected you to be on Earth, and when I didn’t find you there, I got kind of… con… fused! Yeah, confused. Trying to get a wish granted? If it’s not too big, I could have probably helped you with that, you know…”And then it would have given him an excuse to come see her. Kiko sighed and glanced over to the doors where her disciples were pouring in. Brand was covered in bandages and looked very annoyed. Kiko smiles deviously. Her bandaging jobs usually involved some pinching so that he didn’t think about getting into a fight again soon. Haha. Served him right.

Tarch PL: 150,000. Energy Setting: 10,000
Sleeping wasn’t easy in eternal daylight. So Tarch was delighted when he found a nice shady spot to just lay down and relax for the first time since coming here. How long had it even been since he started his little search? A week? A month? No more than a month for sure. Despite all the friendly faces he’d seen in his time here, the teen still felt an immense sadness weighing him down. Without his family to support him, being living or dead, he just felt so empty. How did Kon do it? Was she just naturally a loner? How does anyone do it for that matter? Kayen was a strong woman, and she practically deserted her family according to Nero. Nashua loved her family, but here she was a million miles away and still going strong. Of course, they were all older than he was. Here he was not even fourteen yet and running away from home. As a light sleep finally took hold of him, his last thoughts were of home, and what h could have been doing if he had just stayed on Earth. A small tear traced his lid.
“Hello!”
With a loud and fearful cry, Tarch bolted upright, his senses going on high alert. “Wha! Who’s there!” he called out to the empty open plains. No one answered. He couldn’t even sense anyone nearby. That was when he heard a familiar laugh inside his head. Kiko?! Tarch wiped away his tears, ecstatic to be hearing another friendly voice.
“Kiko! Oh thank… well, you! I’m so happy to hear from you!” For once Tarch didn’t even care how that may have sounded to the little blue goddess. It was probably the first time since he saw Nashua, but once more on Namek, Tarch was overjoyed. The only problem was he didn’t know how best to go about telling her why he was here. “W-why am I on Namek? W--well you see…” he took a deep breath. The joy in his mental voice soon faded back into his usual downtrodden tone whenever someone asked him why he came to Namek. “Yeah… I do have a wish but… Oh jeez. I dunno… It’s a long story. If you were here I’d tell you everything… it’s just… a lot…” part of the problem was he knew he couldn’t concentrate on keeping a stable telepathic conversation while so overcome with all the emotions he felt in West City. If only she really could be there right now. Tarch would probably hug her and never let go.

The joy in Tarch’s voice made Kiko smile with an uncharacteristic tenderness. The kind of tenderness that made all three of her disciples’ brows raise. Noticing their looks, she swiftly corrected herself with a scowl, glaring daggers in their general direction. Still, she couldn’t hide the fact that she was on cloud nine. Tarch was so happy to hear her! Hehe! It tickled her in a way that might have been embarrassing if she didn’t have an awesome poker face. Her giddiness faded rather quickly, however, when the tone in Tarch’s voice took a weary turn. Kiko felt her heart leap into her throat. Something had happened. Sitting up, she furrowed her brow when he said that he would tell her if she were there. Well! Fine!
Planting her hands on her hips, Kiko addressed her disciples with her most serious business voice.
“Okay! Listen up! We’re going to Namek! Something happened to Tarch, so I gotta check up on him. You guys make yourselves scarce, got it?”
Bravo nodded with his usual innocent smile. Basil nodded more reluctantly. Good. Brand was the last, and he just tossed his head to the side and grumbled. Good. That was Brand for he wasn’t interested in snooping. He would have teased her if he was, and she would have left him behind without even a moment’s hesitation. Gesturing for them to come over, Kiko closed her eyes and really focused in on where Tarch was. She was getting better at her Kai Kai, but it wasn’t perfect yet. Plus, she was gonna toss the others off at the end of the ride. She didn’t wanna do it in space.
“Alright! Just hold very still, Tarch. Don’t move! I don’t wanna miss.”
When she felt a hand on her shoulder, Kiko activated her Kai Kai, and they were off in a flash of light. In the next instant, Kiko appeared right beside Tarch, wiggling her arms to catch her balance. Above, three shooting stars split off in different directions. One seemed like it was cursing, but stars don’t profane their goddess, so Kiko knew she was imagining it. Definitely not a Hakaijin based star.
“T-Tada! Whoa!”
All the arm twirling in the world couldn’t save Kiko from toppling over. She had landed in a really weird spot, so she just lost her balance and flopped onto Tarch. Heck! She had messed up her cool entrance.
“Ouchie…”

“Hold still? What?” Why did he need to hold still? Kiko was a shinjin sure, but was there really something she could do all the way from Vegeta? No way. Maybe she was mad at him for not telling her what was wrong? Tarch did feel a little guilty. Maybe he should have just swallowed his pride or fear or whatever it was and just told her what happened. Then, it happened.
With a clumsy flourish, Kiko actually appeared right in front of the teen in a burst of light. Of course, she then fell face first right into him. This was incredible! He needed a friend and one just so happened to fall right into his lap, literally! Tarch was beside himself. Without a word, he would pull the kai to her feet then into the warmest hug he’d given anyone. He wouldn’t talk, wouldn’t move, just stand there crying onto this poor blue girl. Now he had two people he cared for here to help him. It was the best worst feeling in the world. On one hand, he had the support of his friends, but the fact that he needed them so badly still hurt. Finally, once the pain in his right arm would grow too uncomfortable, Tarch would pull back.
“S-sorry,” apologized the now red-faced teenager, “I just… I’m so happy to see you. I didn’t think you would come all the way to Namek.” Tarch gave a happy sniffle, wiping away any errant tears that didn’t make it onto Kiko’s unfortunate shirt. “I’m here because… well, I want to wish for my mom to be brought back to life. She was killed by a little guy that used to be my best friend.” Despite his tragic story, Tarch couldn’t help but laugh. He was far too soaked in joyful bliss though with a heaping portion of grief mixed in. His body just didn’t know how to react. Heck, his cocktail of happiness and sadness was so potent he couldn’t make the tears stop. “I’m sorry… I’m just really happy to see you… but sad about my mom.”

Kiko’s PL: 5,000
Kiko wasn’t sure what exactly was happening, but she did know that she liked it. It was warm. Nice. Wet? And then she realized that it was Tarch hugging her and crying into her shoulder. Her face went purple, but she maintained her dignity and rubbed and patted Tarch’s back gently. She smiled at him as he let her go, trying not to show just how flustered she was. He needed her to be a really supportive goddess right now. That was the least she could do. Unfortunately, the reason he was so sad was something Kiko couldn’t exactly relate to. When Tarch laughed, Kiko was even more confused. Chalk this one up to foolish mortals, maybe? “That’s okay. I’m happy to see you too!”Maybe he was just worried about it his mom was in heaven or hell? Kiko could just pop in to check on her for him. Take a letter or something. She could take her disciples up to Otherworld because they were her disciples. They had sort of made a contract with her. She wasn’t sure that she could do the same for Tarch unfortunately. He was her… um. Something. And not a disciple so… Kiko’s ears burned a deep red. Mm. “I’m sorry…? About your mom? I could check on her if you’re worried about her. See where King Yemma put her. I’m sure she’s in the Upper Worlds though. I mean, she’s your mom!”Kiko smiled in a way that was meant to be reassuring. She wasn’t really sure how to comfort someone who was grieving a loss since… life and death was kind of blurry for her. But she understood the pain of not being able to see someone because you were separated! Kiko spread out her hands. “I can even bring her a letter or something if you want.”

Did she not understand? Was Tarch being too vague? No, having his mom killed by his best friend was pretty cut and dry. Then he remembered that Kiko was, in fact, a goddess. Deities probably didn’t see life and death the same as mortals. Tarch definitely would not hold that against her. Though this did raise a few more questions. Did shinjin even have parents? How were they born anyway? God, having a friend like Kiko was the coolest. Even at his low points, Tarch felt blessed to have someone like her in his life. Someone who could take his mind off all the hardship and focus on far more fun things. Though he did have to clear up some of her concerns.
“W-well I did talk to her once. I know she’s in heaven and likes it up there. But I also know it’s very lonely. I also can’t talk to her on my own. So could you check on her for me? Let her know I’m okay and that I’m doing my best to bring her back!” He finished with a teary but determined smile. He then jumped slightly as he remembered something. There was another thing she might be able to do while she was here. Mr. Oboe tried his best, but maybe an actual goddess could do it better?
“Oh! Also uh… Can you uhh…” Tarch hesitated a moment before brushing back some of his hair, specifically a lock covering his left eye. He removed the bandage to show the damaged eye, “can you heal me? I got pretty badly hurt. I’m mostly okay, but my chest, arm, and eye are still messed up.” He remembered back when they first met how she healed his twisted ankle. Granted, these injuries were a bit more grievous than a little bit of leg pain. Still, it was worth a shot right?

Kiko bit her lip when Tarch took her up on her offer to go check on his mother. Realization hit her. That meant going back to Otherworld. If she went back, could she come back again? Kiko didn’t like her odds. Still, she could see that Tarch was really worried about his mom. She couldn’t say that she understood what having a mom was like, but from what she gathered, they were important. Kiko tilted her head to the side and crossed her arms, weighing the decision carefully. Maybe if someone went with her. Sabanto? And her disciples of course, but she wasn’t even sure that they could make the trip. If she at least had Sābanto, then maybe… maybe she could go. Yeah.
“Y-yeah… I can do that…”
Perking up slightly as Tarch started to ask something else of her, she raised an eyebrow curiously when he hesitated. If it had been any other foolish mortal making so many requests of her, she might have told them to step off. But this was her Tarch, so he deserved at least a little special treatment. She frowned when she noticed that he was pretty badly hurt. Who had done this?! The best friend? Some best friend. Kiko shot Tarch a disapproving glare.
“Hmph! Can I heal you… of course I can! But only if you promise not to get hurt like this again.”
Before Tarch could answer her demand, Kiko leaned in and gently touched the bandaged eye and his chest. These wounds looked bad. Really bad. Kiko’s brow furrowed in equal parts concern and irritation as her magic flowed from her fingertips and into Tarch’s body. Bruises lightened and vanished. Cuts closed and left no scar. Kiko bit her lip as she pulled some of Tarch’s pain into herself. It hurt… but it was nothing to a future Supreme Kai! Still, her face went a little pale as she both healed and took away his pain.
“How’s this? Better? You can thank me now.”

As the little goddess worked her magic, Tarch did indeed start to feel better. The large bruise on his chest slowly faded away, as the bandages on his arm felt dryer. Yet as she healed him, he couldn’t help but noticed the pained look on Kiko’s face. He may have been imagining things, but did healing others hurt her in exchange? She didn’t seem hurt last time she healed him. Of course, that was just a twisted ankle. This was the result of mortal combat. As she finished her healing, Tarch went to unwrap his bandages. That was until a sudden thought struck him. What if she didn’t get it all? Then she would just be putting herself through more pain for him. He could not let that happen.
So instead he ran his fingers underneath the bandages, not letting her see for herself. “That feels much better! Thanks, Kiko!” He wasn’t lying. Though he could still feel the gashes on his arm and the vision in his left eye was still dark, the pain had eased up immensely. Perhaps he could take some time to shift the topic before she grew suspicious.
“So I got a question for you. How are Kai’s born? Do you have a mom and dad like mortals or is it different for you guys?” Though he did remember Basil’s words about her being as much flesh and blood as he was, there was still an obvious difference between her and other people. Maybe she was born from eggs like the namekians? Or somehow created artificially like bio-androids?

Kiko smiled and shook her hands as she finished up her healing. Of course it felt much better! Ha! Tarch should be all better if not close to it. She wondered vaguely why he didn’t take off his bandages, but she let it go. Maybe it was one of those things mortals did to look cool. Either way, that healing had stung a bit. Tarch had really been hurt badly.
“You’re welcome, but you have to promise you won’t get hurt like this again! Your goddess won’t stand for it!”
It was then that Tarch blindsided her with a question. Oh, she guessed he wouldn’t know. A lot of Otherworld society was lost on mortals. How to explain it… hm!
“Well, Shinjin are born from the fruit of the Kaiju. Not all Shinjin are Kais either. When a Kai passes away, normal Shinjin draw lots to determine who will be the next Kai. Ordinary Shinjin live about 75,000 years or so… You know, give or take a couple thousand. But then there are special Shinjin - like me - who are born from a golden fruit, which marks us as candidates for the next Supreme Kai! Hm-mm!”
Kiko puffed out her chest proudly at that. That was right! She was special! She was chosen! She was going to be the next Supreme Kai! They just didn’t know it yet.
“If you’re born from a gold fruit, you’re basically guaranteed to be Supreme Kai one day. The current one hasn’t acknowledged me or started training me yet… but they will soon! I’m sure. Oh, so uh. I guess I don’t have parents. I have teachers. I don’t really get what a mom or dad is… emotionally? I guess? I’ve never had anything like it. Well, I guess I have my disciples, but they’re disciples. It’s probably not the same, huh?”

Well, this explained a lot about who Kiko was and why she had no idea how Earth worked when they first met. Even better than that, it helped Tarchtake his mind off of his recent tragedy. At least for a moment. The conversation did eventually circle back to parents and how Shinjin didn’t really have anything like that. That certainly made this harder for Tarch to explain. It also made him feel both lucky and unlucky to have and then lose that feeling. Now how did he describe it to a goddess?
“That’s insane,” Tarch chuckled weakly. “So I guess that means you were a gold fruit. Does that mean you could live for a hundred thousand years instead?” He sighed, unable to imagine what that would be like. Seeing the entire world live and die and change in the blink of an eye. “Crazy,” he repeated breathlessly. “Most people I know only live to be somewhere near one hundred. At least on Earth. I now some aliens live longer or shorter. Humans are...” he stopped. Was he really about to go into how babies were made? No. No, he was not.
“Well, instead of being born from fruit, we have parents. Like if that fruit took care of you and taught you everything. Kind of like your teachers I guess. But if your teachers were the fruit. And they love you. Oh jeez, this is tough.” Despite the heavy topic, Tarch was at least entertained by his own failing words. Maybe he was going about this all wrong. “It’s like if Brand or Bravo or even Basil were your fruit and your teachers. That’s like what my mom is. And now…” He sniffled, wiping his eye with his sleeve. This quickly went from frustrating to amusing to depressing all in a manner of minutes. “Would you be sad if any of them died?” he asked, perhaps incredibly inappropriately. This whole situation just sucked. He wanted to be home with his mom. He wanted to still be friends with her killer. He just wanted things to be okay again. “I’m sorry that’s a dumb question. A-anyway I promise I’ll try not to get hurt like that again! Promise!”

“Wrong! Gold fruits like me will live millions of years! Really long time. You know, I can’t really imagine it. I’m only thirteen.” Kiko listened respectfully as Tarch went on and on about his incredulity. Yes, she was basking it it a little. Apparently, mortal lives were a lot shorter. But that meant they lived a lot faster. Her teachers were so boring and methodical. They went over the same material again and again. It was about mastering the material, but Kiko wanted to learn about a lot of things. Not focus on one for a century. Mortals were special in the way they lived so fast.
Tarch’s explanation about parents was hard for her to grasp. The fruit teaching her? Her teachers as fruit? The latter was kind of funny honestly. Then Tarch switched it a little and Kiko began to understand. Parents were like… disciples! Caretakers…? Kiko frowned when Tarch sniffled and wiped his face on his sleeve. Oh, she was supposed to be helping him with this. And then he blindsided her with a question she wasn’t sure how to answer. Tarch quickly followed up with apologies and promises. Kiko just leaned in and hugged him again to get him to stop.
“It’s not dumb. Your goddess doesn’t think it is anyway, and she’s always right!”
Letting go, Kiko stepped back to think about it. She wouldn’t really be that upset if they died. She could just stay with them in Otherworld. It would be inconvenient when they couldn’t go with her to the mortal realms though… oh. There was one thing that would make her… sad.
“Well, since I could go visit them if they died, I think it would be okay. But if they had their souls recycled then I… I’d be pretty sad.”
Whoops. She might have just given him something to worry about. She threw up her hands quickly.
“B-But that doesn’t happen for a while! It takes a while and your mom wouldn’t leave you like that anyway. So it’s fine!”

What a sour turn. Despite the overwhelming evidence that this was completely unlikely, the idea that his mother’s soul could actually move on was a sad thought. The possibility of even Kiko losing someone was somehow worse. She could live for millions of years but as soon as her friends actually die and pass on or whatever, she has to live those millions of years without them. The idea as incomprehensible as it was was enough to bring a cold shudder down Tarch’s spine and a warm tear to his eye.
But hey! Now Tarch knew how old Kiko was. He knew physically she was around his age. But a small part of him always thought she just aged super slowly. Did she still age super slowly? That could be a little weird. Actually, it was kind of funny to think about. Tarch would be getting taller while Kiko stayed short. That brought him out of the heavy mood blanketing him.
“Hey! I’m thirteen too. Well for a few more days anyway. So I got a question then. If you’re thirteen now, but you live for a million years. Do you age slower too?” It was a pretty irrelevant question all things considered. But after all the doom and gloom that came with his mother’s death and the idea of soul recycling, it was nice to have something much more light hearted to talk about. He needed someone he could both laugh and cry with right now.

Kiko was caught unprepared by Tarch’s question. “Uhhh…” Honestly, she had no idea. She had never really thought to ask. She racked her mind about it. She remembered seeing a lot of Shinjin of various sizes and ages but there wasn’t really anything consistent about it. She supposed that she was a goddess though, so she could probably change her physical age? She had never tried to do that. She didn’t exactly love the idea of Tarch growing up without her.
“Maybe…? I’m not sure actually. I could try to age myself up right now! If you want!”
She wasn’t really sure how that would work. What if she accidentally made herself giant?! Like in one of those Earth cartoons. Kiko knew that some Namekians had giant transformations, but she wasn’t sure how she would like that idea. Also what if she turned into an old hag like in one of the fairy tales?! Oh no, she would hate that.
“Mm… maybe that’s not the best idea on second thought,” she mumbled, rubbing her cheeks to check for wrinkles. “I-I don’t look old right now, right?” Kiko asked with the quiet undertone of panic in her voice. She squished her face a few times to be sure.
