It was a pleasant surprise to find that she COULD go incognito on Earth, or well… at least MOSTLY. No matter how much Kayen tried she would always stick out in a crowd, especially among the ‘normal’ Earthlings who interests in strength were minor at best, Kayen towered over the average Earthling and had a distinct warriors physique. All she could really do was simply not wear the clothes that were most ‘iconic’ to her look and try to style her hair a bit differently. So far the average Earthling seemed unable to make the connection as Kayen wandered the Satan City Mall, her armor, leotard, and jacket swapped for a pair of jeans, a faded Katchin Blimp t-shirt with its sleeves long since cut off for comfort, and her usual eyepatch traded in for a more subtle one and her mirrored Blutzviators. And of course the distinct lack of Fateburn. The entire ‘mall’ experience was a mostly unpleasant one for Kayen, far too many annoying people and a complete inability for her to just start strangling anyone who pissed her off, at least for now. The last thing she wanted at the moment was to attract any undue attention especially not the ‘Saiyan Queen murders random civilians and terrorizes mall’ sort, not exactly the best way to lead into talking to the ‘President’ about her plans and how Earth related to them. Presently though she was not having as much luck just kicking in doors and finding the tiny Saiyan as she had last time, he was apparently busy with something that was keeping him active out of both his company and castle, so Kayen chose to busy herself searching Earth’s various shopping locations, the mall had SEEMED like a good place for what she was seeking but so far it had been a bust. And as she grew more frustrated by her search’s seeming futility yet ANOTHER Earthling bumped into her slamming his shoulder against hers, this was the FIFTH time some idiot Earthling paying too much to their phone to mind where they were going had hit into her and while it was practically impossible for these weaklings to do any actual harm it was annoying. “Hey watch it lady!” The guy snapped at her as Kayen started past him, Kayen stopped immediately and turned around to face the man and just for a moment the ruby necklace hidden beneath her shirt began to glow as Kayen’s anger began to boil over.

Maple was at work (sort of), when he saw the brawny lady get bumped. He could sense her incredible power, and at once realized this was no Earthbound couch cabbage, she was some kind of alien, a vaguely familiar one, but there were so many kinds of aliens on Earth these days it was hard to sort them all out. This Earth was far different from the Long Ago where his dark powers waxed over moonlit moors and war-wrecked castles. Back in those days the only differences you had to suss out were the beastfolk and human, and you could typically tell where they came from by the different sorts of ridiculous facial hair they grew or in the least by what colors they wore. Now everyone was the same and different simultaneously, inscrutable maelstroms that collided, combined, and spun away from each other. So, it was hard to tell. Maple himself was dressed in his (sort of) work clothes, a crisp Corndog Commandant uniform in red and khaki. The epaulets of his coat were yellow foam loafs with sticks jutting out at the shoulders, and on a red-star badge at the center of his militant hat was another steaming corndog. Beneath his khaki shorts gleamed two polished shoes, the plastic painted in unsettling bright red. Maple spent the afternoon in the little cubbyhole of a restaurant, doling out the oblong golden buns steaming on their popsicle stick skewers, but now he’d taken his act on the road, so to speak. He was in the main thoroughfare, selling corndogs from a cart when the big some-kind-of-alien lady got bumped. But wait, why would an ancient demon devoted to spreading Evil be selling corndogs at a mall in Satan City, one might ask? Well, there are finer points to being Evil than having homicidal rampages. Maple had seen the encroaching tide of healthy living chain restaurants, the yuppie Paozu Breads and so forth, and was doing his small part to counteract that spread. Hell forbid the people of Satan City started feeling better about themselves. But sometimes the simple mission of spreading tiny evils could get dull, and so Maple decided to stir a bigger pot with this alien. “Ho, Comrade!” Maple said to Queen Kayen , saluting snappily before approaching her with a fresh hotdog on a stick. “Would you care for a complimentary corndog?” He gave her a bright smile and brushed at the bumped shoulder. “People can be so rude. I’m Maple Moonshi, Corn-Corporal reporting for lunch.” He gave another salute. Leaning forward intently, he whispered, " I'm actually an evil Demon wizard hellbent on turning the Universe upside down. But I've got a feeling that you're not just another Sunday shopper." At this range, he could see a faint glow through the collar of her shirt. Some sort of magic, no doubt. Maple's interest peaked.

The man almost instantly regretted snapping at Kayen, both because she was physically imposing and from the fierce glare she directed at him, in the moment after he was caught in her gaze he regretted even coming to the mall that day and he felt as if his life was flashing before his eyes, it was only when a new voice broke in that the man snapped out of his fear and began backing away before hitting a dead sprint, promptly pushing into even more people as he fled. Kayen barely caught a glimpse of the man's escape as her attention was shifted from him to the new arrival, she had not been bothering to reach out and sense for any elevated power signatures but now she could feel the power from the strange guy offering her a hotdog, he was far stronger than the average Earthling, and even most ‘average’ Saiyans. “Sure” Kayen took a long moment to respond not quite sure about accepting food from the strange man, but her growing hunger outweighed caution as she took it “Maple? That name is familiar…” Kayen said raising an eyebrow, she adjusted her Blutzviators to get a less obscured view of the man though she still could not quite place it, he claimed to be an ‘evil Demon wizard’ which did little to actually help her figure out why she was so certain she knew the name. “I’m Kayen, baddest pirate in the universe. So no, not a usual Sunday shopper. What’s an ‘evil Demon Wizard’ doing selling corn dogs?” Kayen paused looking briefly back to the half eaten corn dog then back at the man “If this thing was cursed or something I’ll kill you” While it was entirely possible that he WASN'T a demon, or a wizard, Kayen was at this point so used to the extraordinary that the fact she had potentially just happened upon a random Demon was not something she was inclined to immediately question.

"It's not cursed," Maple insisted. "Not unless you count cholesterol."
Threats of murder? Maple liked her already! Liking the style of her sunshades, Maple magicked a pair onto his own nose, and with a flourish of a sparkling hand went on break. Now hew as a typical mall-rat, in a throwback Badman City Butchers t-shirt and blue jeans. "I'm just doing my small part to fight the health-crazy yuppie mooks out there. I like to work small jobs just as much as the big ones, you know," Maple began, falling in beside her. "Kayen, huh?" He snapped his finger, in recognition. "Oh yeahhhh. You're a Saiyan! That's a Saiyan name, isn't it? I was trying to figure out what kinda alien you were when I first saw you. Shoulda guessed Saiyan. There's lots of you on Earth these days. Not like back in my heyday, but hey, that's okay. At least you're not all goodies! A pirate, huh? That's a stand-up job. And you could go real far with it.”
Maple grinned up at her, lowering his sunglasses to the point of his nose. “I’m a pirate of sorts, myself,” Maple confided. “Well, well. A Stargoon. Maybe you’ve heard of us? I’m the Purple one. But I’m on a hiatus lately, you know, trying to center all my chi and bullshit.” Maple gauged the burly Saiyan warrior, idly wondering what color Stargoon would suit her best. Pink, maybe. Pink was a fierce color. But she likely had dreams of her own that differed from eternal servitude to Evil, and who knew what was in Twobit’s non-corporeal head besides?
“So what brings a pirate queen to the Satan City Mall? Shopping like the rest of us? I’ve been all around the galaxy, and I’ve got to hand it to Earth. The merchants here have some real classy products, and are maybe the best marketeers I’ve ever seen. I mean, even this Zeni stuff is so pretty.” Maple poofed a brick of the lush green money into existence, fanning out a veritable peacock of hundred Zeni bills. “Can you imagine, all their greed is literally colored green? It’s perfect!”

Kayen had not really expected an answer, preumably if it HAD been cursed she would have soon realized and then the murder would have begun though ‘knowing’ it was not at least put her a bit at ease, granted she was unsure exactly if she could trust the word of the person who may have actually done it. Kayen chuckled at the Demon’s reasoning for his little hotdog sales buisness “Fair enough, I can’t quite understand all the strange ways Earthlings try to radically shift their diets, I’m not entirely sure I’d survive a month under some of the ones ive seen” Kayen said shaking her head at the very idea, granted she supposed the average Earthling lead a drastically different life than she did but even still it was too much of a disconnect for her to comprehend. He also managed to help her figure out where she knew his name from he was a Stargooon or at least had been. If memory served he had even been the rough equivalent of the ‘leader’ of the group “Mmh, yes. I think that’s where I knew your name from. Your team has done some interesting work, even if Namek did not entirely pan out well for you and the Fleet” Really the fact that the Fleet or more accurately Boreal and the Stargoons had started butting heads had more or less guaranteed the Kingdom’s ‘victory’ there eliminating two massive threats. “Yes, or at least looking to see if they have what I’m looking for, Earth is certainly in its own league when it comes to shopping, the only real vague competition they have is Raiti and Knutts and that’s only because they dominate the black market. Earth’s not exactly interested in competeing there, it would be a rather amusing thing to see them try, something like this lined with all manner of ‘illicit’ goods” Kayen chuckled again at the thought, it was however for the best that Earth did not, while Raiti and Knutts held firm control on those areas Earth getting in on the business in a REAL way would be a major detriment to either. “Perhaps it’s a bit of a cliche, but I’ve always personally preferred gold. Even if it IS a bit less convenient”

"Gold, huh? It's a classic," Maple agreed . "One of the top-sought metals, too. That and katchin," Maple said, making a supporting-evidence gesture at Queen Kayen 's Katchin Blimp shirt. Come to think of it, Maple thought. Twobit's coin was made out of katchin. "I'm happy you heard of the Stargoons, and it's great to know that we're still working," He puffed out a sigh. "But I have a lot of work ahead of me, getting back into fighting shape so I can help them in the thick of it." Maple regarded Kayen carefully, getting a nice and tingly idea. "Say, you look like the warrior type. Not just because of your wicked cool eyepatch. But you know, your physique and manner. Your vibe. It's scrappy and a little bit brassy. I like it. Wanna help me get back into the swing of this whole fighting business? There's a gym with a dojo somewhere around here. And I'm sure whatever it is you’re looking for isn’t too far. Maybe after you're done shopping we can throw a punch or two?” Maple grinned up at her. The mall was pretty nifty by the East Region’s standards. Shoppers entered through one humongous entry way, but there were five wings to it and three floors in all, arrayed like a drunken starfish. It’d probably take an hour or so to see it all. Maple himself hadn’t ventured in all its nooks and crannies, and he'd been working here for almost a month. “Maybe you can train me in the ways of the Saiyans, and I’ll give you some pointers on how to fight wizards. We’re a pesky bunch, and knowing a few of our tricks might save your butt one day.”

“Mmh, if only Katchin were even half as easy to get my hands on” Kayen said with a roll of her eye, Gold was easy, even if most planets had shifted toward digital currencies or Zeni equivalents people still LOVED gold, it was the ideal sort of display of ostentatious wealth, she’d once raided a cruiser that some fool had actually had layered with gold. It had been quite the pity to crack it open but it had still sold well in the end. It was interesting to hear that Maple was apparently planning to get back into action, she had mostly figured he had either died or was some sort of background leader, an organizer for the group who was more administrator than warrior but the power he had even if not quite as impressive as the numbers she’d gotten on the other Stargoons such as Mumbo was enough to prove otherwise. “You’d be right, I am a warrior” Kayen said with a smirk, she couldn't quite tell if Maple just did not know who she was or if he was just having a bit of fun, it really did not matter much either way as the prospect of getting to see how he fought was interesting, perhaps even more useful down the road, while the Stargoons were to her knowledge still mostly affiliated with the Fleet they were not BOUND to the Fleet, they were mercenaries and could perhaps be swayed to fight under a different banner. “And I rarely pass up a chance to have a decent fight, with any luck this gym you’ve got in mind can actually stand up to a decent brawl, I tend to be a bit… destructive” Kayen said with a grin “as for training you, I don't fight like most Saiyans so if that’s what you’re looking for your scope will be a bit different. I’m a swordsman, I’ve got my blade hidden since otherwise the Earthlings would probably start panicking” Kayen could see most Earthlings being spooked by a normal sword being openly displayed even if not wielded let alone Fateburn which itself was larger than the average Earthling. “But I’ll always take a chance to learn some tricks against less direct fighters” and getting a guage on how Maple fought could be useful down the road if the Stargoons held no interest in shifting themselves away from the Fleet’s inevitable demise.

Maple rode the escalator up to Floor Two, where the New Platypus School of Martial Arts neon sign glowed a thunderous yellow. A huge poster took up much of the storefront’s glass facade, depicting a dogi-swathed cartoon platypus acrobatically dispatching anthropomorphized snakes, cranes, and turtles. Platypus Power!!! the poster boomed. Polished hardwood floors sparkled inside, and dojo members were busily whacking at each other with sloppy knifehand strikes and uncoordinated front kicks. There were a few black belts here and there, and one or two who wore the full dogi, their movements fluid and precise, but none of the powers here registered above the ordinary Earthling trickle. Maple could barely contain his excitement. He was going to have a good old-fashioned spar! With a Saiyan! Maybe she was one of those Super-ones, with the flashy blond hair transformation (that Maple was more than a little jealous of)? He idly wondered how he’d look as a blond. He liked the sound of Super Maple.
"This place seems okay. I heard there's a new dojo in East City, and it's even got a bowling alley," Maple said to Queen Kayen as they arrived. “Hi,” Maple said to the receptionist. “We’d like to rent some dojo space for ah, private lessons.” Without counting, he slapped a thick wad of the Zeni hundreds down. The receptionist’s eyes bulged. She had never seen so much money in her life. “Um, let me check with my manager.”It took a few minutes, and some annoying handshaking with the dojo’s Majin manager -- who’s pouchy physique made Maple highly doubt the efficacy of Platypus Style -- but they were able to clear out the entire floor space for their fight and shut the whole dojo down. Now it was just Maple, Kayen, and the sprinkling of staff gawking at them both. “Alright!” Maple said, doing some deep knee bends in preparation. “I don’t mind fighting your sword, either. I’ve scraped with lots of swordfighters in my heyday, you know. Longswords and heraldic shields. Poofy plumes on helmets. I’ve seen it all.” Maple wasn’t lying, either. He’d put more knights in Hell than the plague. Still, Maple knew this bout would be different. Kayen wasn’t the throw-the-gauntlet, profess-to-the-princess, chivalrous type. She was prolly gonna fight like the dirty pirate she was, and she was a good lot stronger than him. He was going to get his ass kicked, and he knew it. In preparation for the onslaught, Maple let his serpent powers go full tilt. His black eyes became reptilian slits, his fangs more pronounced. A purple aura, bubbling black, billowed up from his shoulders. The long floorboards of the dojo vibrated with energy. Snakey(x2) activated, Maple’s PL is now 80,000 “W-w-w-whaaaat?” The Majin stammered, stepping back against the locked glass facade. Maple grinned a wide grin as he waited, his arms raised and body in a defensive crouch, a stance he’d once seen an ancient toga-wearing wrestler use. "Let's go!"

The trip to the Dojo was surpsisingly short, though the fact it was inside the Mall itself certainly played into it, Kayen had sort of expected that when Maple had mentioned knowing a place they could spar that it would be somewhere else in the city, perhaps somewhere a bit more… sturdy… she could probably work with this though she would almost certainly have to hold off on actually USING Super Saiyan, perhaps a brief jump into it for a bit of intimidation at some point but any amount of stray power output from any variation of that power would probably tear through the whole building. Hell Kayen was fairly certain it would be difficult to avoid doing so NOW unless this place was made of sturdier stuff than she figured. Maple took the lead on actually dealing with the people running the dojo, as he spoke to the receptionist Kayen surveyed the room, it was sad to see that even the Earthlings with at least a vague interest in martial arts were not reaching any particularly relevent tiers of power, even the ones that looked like they knew what they were doing were nothing. “I wonder what the Earthlings would be like if their planet had gravity levels more like Vegeta” Kayen wondered aloud as the receptionist all but sprinted to find their manager. Earthlings werent particularly combative by nature but perhaps having a planet that challenged them like Vegeta challenged Saiyans would result in a higher average of power. Kayen was glad her own home had gravity roughly on par with Vegeta. The trainees were very quickly ushered out of the area much to Kayen’s amusement, the manager decided to watch from behind a glass wall as Maple and Kayen prepared for their spar, to her pleasant surprise Maple summoned a weapon of his own, a staff of some sort that sparked with magical power. Kayen replaced her shirt with her workout shirt not wanting one of her few decent pieces of casual clothes to be destroyed, her ruby pendant now on active display and glowing faintly in the presence of Maple's power, she also produced a capsule and with a click it exploded and revealed the massive blade Fateburn, Kayen caught the hilt as it dropped through the air and gave the blade a few quick swings to loosen herself up. As Kayen geared up for the fight she felt a spike in power from Maple and was pleased to find that as she turned to see him again he was no longer quite so insignificant a threat, suddenly he was a little over half her current power and if her fights with Sensoa proved anything about Demons it was that Maple likely had more to give. “Not bad, not bad, I like the new look” Kayen said with a grin rolling her shoulders as she stepped forward, Maple was already in a defensive stance and by his call she assumed he wanted her to get things started, luckily for him she was more than willing to oblige “But not bad-” Kayen’s power began to surge, not yet increasing beyond her base level but instead simply rising to action and causing the room to creak and a few of the shuddering floorboards to crack under the pressure as Kayen lunged forward aiming a powerful swing at Maple’s side “-ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!”

Maple had never been to Planet Vegeta, but given the nature of the Saiyans, it was prolly pretty Hellish. His sort of place, in other words. He wasn’t quite sure what Earthlings would have been like if they lived under higher gravity, but he could imagine that they’d be even more annoying than they already were. For all the wonderful things this world had shown him -- baseball, bacon, Jollywood movies, bacon, chocolate, bacon, sushi, ice cream, and ice cream plus ice cream-with-bacon-on-top, the Earthling propensity for annoyance was a big, glaring detractor. He would have blown up the planet long ago if it didn’t also have a startling potential for evil (plus bacon). Swayed the right way, Maple felt in nether-most reaches of his darkest guts that Earth could become a hotbed for evil the likes of which the Universe had never seen before or could even hope to cope with. Maple was about to voice some sort of concurrence when Queen Kayen attacked. He was upended by it, of course. Even his Rod of Rainy Days wouldn’t withstand such a blow. Flung back like a rag doll, Maple crashed through a supporting beam of the dojo and made a Maple-sized hole in the wall. Reeling with pain, the tiny part of his mind, that most-coolheaded and reptilian part of him, observed that at least he hadn’t gotten split in half. That would have been a bummer. Raising a thunderous hand, Maple fanned out five fingers, and a lightning bolt sang from him, blasting out towards Kayen at lightspeed. Let’s see how this swashbuckling saiyan likes black magic. Maple thought, willing himself out of the hole despite the clutching pain from the sword-blow, his magic willing a thick fog into the dojo, obscuring all from sight. Let’s see how well she does in bad weather.Moving through the fog, Maple would vault across the ceiling and attempt to come down at the top of Kayen’s head, rending at her with the blazing end of his Rod of Rainy Days.

Kayen let out an amused laugh as her attack sent Maple flying, crashing through parts of the Dojo to what she could only imagine was the utter horror of it’s owner. Getting a real gauge on just how much the Demon could take would be a bit tough but even as she awaited him to take some sort of action from the hole in the wall her had been slammed into she was relatively confident that Maple would be back for more, the Stargoons in general seemed like a tenacious sort and she doubted a single hit, even one that appeared to catch him a bit off guard, would be enough to take him down, at least not without far more power being put behind the attack. Kayen hefted Fateburn onto her shoulder as she waited, curious how long he would take to snap back into action, she could sense his energy signature was still in the wall meaning she had thankfully not just sent him through the entire building, Kayen was not entirely sure what to expect out of Maple, he’d claimed to be a ‘wizard’ and presumably had a lot of tric- Kayens thought process was cut off before she could wonder further on what magical tricks Maple MIGHT have as he fired off one such trick, a bolt of lighting was unleashed from the Maple shaped hole in the wall earning a grin from the Queen, it moved about as quick as one would expect from genuine lighting, dodging would take too much energy to make certain it was avoided and so Kayen chose to meet the attack head on focusing her power into Fateburn and rushing to meet the bolt clashing against the magical lightning with her blade, some of it arced over the blade and across her arm but the blade itself cut through the bilk of the power behind the bolt. As Kayen swung Fateburn to shake off some of the pain in arm from the attack she noticed that the bold had not been Maple’s only trick, a thick fog now blanketed the Dojo, not just obscureing her vision but also making it a bit more difficult to get a solid read on Maple’s location, she caught a general read of movement away from the hole but she lacked a firm grip in where he was coming from exactly. That was soon solved as Maple burst through the fog from above his staff surging with power, Kayen raised an arm to defend herself taking the blow on her free arm rather than directly on the head as it seemed Maple had planned, she grit her teeth and let out a low growl, but now that he was near Kayen had no problem targeting the serpentine Demon, and with a primal roar Kayen took another swipe at Maple a sweeping blow aimed at his waist.

Maple’s electrified strike smacked her square on the arm, and might have singed her skin a bit but beyond that didn’t do much. Kayen’s counterattack was a whole other story. Maple just barely had the time to interrupt her sword swing with his magic cane, but it wasn’t enough. The swipe cracked into the Rod of Rainy Days and sent both him and his weapon spiraling away, making another Maple-shaped hole in the wall. “Damn,” Maple coughed, wheezing against the dust. “The mall manager is going to be pissed.”Kayen was wrong that he wouldn’t get much insight from her sword strikes. He got a whole lot. She didn’t stand exactly like the Earthling knights stood. Her stance was different, and her strikes came from different angles than he was used to. He wasn’t really a good enough fighter to extrapolate that, but hey, at least he got some exercise. “So, you beat my fog. Let’s see how you handle something a little thicker,” Maple chuckled, slinking out of the hole. He held onto one of his ribs -- it mighta got busted by that last sword swipe. Rematerializing the Rod of Rainy Days, Maple thrust it into the long hardwood planks of the dojo, splintering them with an audible crack. “Do ya like peanut butter?” Maple asked as the material started to bubble up from the crack, gurgling as it quickly flooded the space, gooey brown rivers becoming a churning sea of golden brown whipping at the ankle. “I love the stuff,” Maple said, “Especially when you throw in some marshmallow fluff.” The fog suddenly thickened and sank, turning into a warm marshmallowy blanket of fluff. Maple floated above the churning condiment ocean on an oversized raft of sliced white bread. “Let’s see if a Super Saiyan makes a good sandwich!”Closing his eyes and concentrating, Maple sent a tidal wave of peanut butter and fluff rolling down the dojo, ripping up floorboards and knocking down pillars until a crashing disaster of sugary sweetness slammed down at Queen Kayen.

Kayen grinned as Maple dragged himself from the second hole she had smashed him into, this time however he lacked the same level of grace he had before, her second hit or perhaps just the culmination of the two strikes and the impact of where they sent him were now visibly taking their toll on the Demon as he clutched his ribs. He even now lacked his weapon… Until suddenly it was back, Kayen smirked at that trick, curious if that was simply something the staff could always do, or a trick Maple had developed to counteract those who would try to take his weapon from him. Kayen had learned long ago how to fight to take advantage of others trying to remove Fateburn from her grasp, everyone always thought they were the peak of genius, that none of the idiots she’d killed before them had thought to do the same. Kayen was immediately back on her guard when Maple threatened to use ‘something thicker’ than the fog considering its minimal effectiveness on her, she had no way of know WHAT that meant but what she was certain of was that she wanted no part of it, Kayen made a broad sweep with Fateburn as Maple prepared whatever spell he was doing to drive back from of the fog around her, give herself some space before he did… And as she swept away the fog nearest to her the butt of the staff cracked against the floor splintering wood and isshuing forth a torrent of… peanut butter… Kayen only had a moment to give a genuinely flabbergasted look to from the ground to Maple “I think I hate wizards” Kayen growled at him as she wrenched her foot out of the peanut butter as it began to rise higher and higher, she lifted off the ground to match its ascent only for Maple to pipe up again “DONT YOU DARE” Kayen growled but it was already too late as the rolling fog was transformed into marshmallow fluff splattering against Kayen as she took to the air. The room filled more and more with peanut butter and sailing the growing sea of fluff and peanut butter was Maple aboard what Kayen thought looked like bread. The surging mass of peanut butter then roiled into a wave that surged right at her tearing the dojo apart with ease as it did so “This is gonna suck” Kayen groaned as she called on the Ruby’s power, the gem began to glow an ominous red and exude a dark power as it’s aura extended over Kayen burning like a roaring fire, Kayen extended her free hand and released a quick series of blasts at the wave each detonating against it with a mighty explosion aimed less at harming Maple and more at disrupting and vaporizing the peanut butter and marshmallows wave, as a consequence the sweet smell of peanut butter was quickly consumed by the much less pleasant scent of burned peanut butter.

Maple’s eyes widened in disbelief as the jewel at Queen Kayen ’s throat throbbed and she turned his marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, and bread into an overcooked soufflé. “Whoa shit!” Maple yelled, crossing his arms in front of his body and thumping a kiai out, hoping to divert the blast. The blasts did indeed part ways around him, but Maple felt it was more from her not bothering to hurt him rather than his kiai. When all the souffle broke into a crumble, and that crumble was shredded into dust, Maple fell to his knees, panting for breath. The Rod of Rainy Days flickered, then disappeared in a puff of inky black smoke. Big, complicated magic took a lot of effort, and making a thousand square foot peanut butter and fluff sandwich had sapped him. Using magic also made him hungry. He was mad he didn’t wheel the corndog cart here. Maple startled, jabbing a finger at the jewel twinkling on Kayen’s throat. “Makai crepe bananas! A Blood Ruby, I recognize that juju now! Danger, danger,” Maple winked, staggering to his feet. “Better for your soul to start drinking Hetap instead.”“Though I’m not sure you even need a sugar rush. I didn’t even nudge you into your Super Saiyan form! I wanted to see the hair, I hear it’s fab.” His breath was heavy, and sweat beaded on his face, slickening his black hair. “I think you could prolly whallop me with one hand behind your back.” Maple raised his fists. “But still, I’m a little bummed out. I thought for sure I was going to get slammed at least once. No flashy finishing moves?” Maple waved a fist in a slow circle, and it began to churn sparkles. “Don’t you Saiyans watch the Galactic Wrestling Federation?”Maple ran forward. Using the last of his magical energies, he materialized a steel chair in his hands, hoping to smack it across Kayen’s body and send her flying into a wall. He was at the end of his rope already, but at least he’d end this fight on a funny note.

Kayen’s frustration quickly turned to amusement as her attack boiled and burned away at the encroaching mass of sweets cooking what was not vaporized into a solid and surprisingly pleasant smelling mass, all the while Maple did everything in his power to avoid being made apart of that mass himself using another blast of power to avoid harm and land safely. It was not entirely surprising when Maple identified what she was wearing, what WAS surprising however was his reaction claiming the Ruby was a danger and implying it was bad for her soul, the reaction earned a raised eyebrow from the Queen but no immediate response as Maple continued on apparently a bit put out that he had not managed to get her to go Super Saiyan. It took a lot of restraint not to correct him, that she could CURRENTLY wallop him with one arm tied behind her back. Despite his choice of offense Kayen found herself fond enough of the Stargoon not to take such petty shots at his power, what he lacked in raw strength he certainly made up for in creativity. “I save the flashy stuff for when I want to put people down. And-” Kayen paused mid sentance as Maple conjured a steel chair not unlike those heavily featured on GWF and took a swing at her, it took just a split second to decide her course of action, if Maple wanted flashy, wanted a Super Saiyan. Why not give him what he wanted? Just before the chair made impact Maple would feel a distinct shift in Kayen’s power a mighty rush of energy followed by his swing being caught in place or if his footing did not hold perhaps even thrown off entirely as Kayen’s aura surged around her flaring out like a golden inferno. The already weak and damaged floor splintered under the pressure exerted by her transformation some of it simply being pulverized entirely before anything could be flung away leaving Kayen floating where once there had been floor. “-and I held off transforming because it usually takes the fun out of a fight. My power’s a bit ‘all or nothing’ I can’t hold back particularly easily.” Kayen explained rolling her free arm as she gave Maple a smirk, curious if the golden form was what he expected “So what exactly has you so spooked about my Ruby? You said something about it being bad for my soul.” Kayen asked curious what the Wizard’s perspective was on the Ruby, in all likelihood it would change nothing of her opinion on it. Whatever soul ‘damage’ he believe it capable of she was fairly certain was either false, or irrelevant.
