Tap. Tap. Tap went Mocci’s finger against her forearm as she waited with arms crossed just off to the side of a vending machine. A couple of boys were talking amongst themselves and, more importantly, taking their sweet time getting their drinks and snacks. A candy bar, that’s all the girl wanted, something sweet and quick to eat, and now she was having to wait at a machine designed to be the pinnacle of convenience. Her expression was that of an annoyed scowl as she glared daggers towards the trio, who hadn’t even noticed the girl yet. Another few minutes would pass before they’d finally leave. Mocci gave a quiet sigh of relief as her wait was now over.
She stepped in front of the machine, only now getting a good look at what was actually inside. She hummed to herself as her eyes would wander about the rows until her eyes would land on where her usual pick would be…only to find an empty spot. Sold out, huh? Mocci huffed through his nose in her furthered frustration. This was fine though, at least she was still able to choose something. Maybe some chips would do? Well, they’d have to, the girl thought as she took the single bill in her hand and placed it into the machine’s slot. She punched in the code for the bag of chips and watched. Slowly, the machine would push the bag of chips closer and closer to its edge.
Only, the moment where Mocci’s chips would fall into the slot below wouldn’t come. Rather, the bag would tip over in what she’d describe as the most anger-inducing slog any bit of food has moved in the history of the earth, only to gently meet with the glass in the perfect angle to keep itself propped up on its edge. Her snack was effectively stuck. She narrowed her eyes slightly in disbelief. That hadn’t really just happened to her, had it? She pressed the return button a few times in the hopes that she could still get her zeni back, but to no success. She grabbed the sides of the machine, shaking it to try and loosen the bag from its edge. But it was still stuck! How was it still stuck!?
This would go on for a few minutes, the girl having picked the vending machine off of the ground and shaking it like a rag doll and yelling at it like that would do anything. “Come on already!” Mocci shouted. She had already attracted more than a few onlookers, some watching to enjoy the show that was this girl’s temper, others watching in confusion and awe as the teenage girl lifted a machine wider and taller than herself like it weighed nothing. Suddenly, Mocci slammed the vending machine back on to the ground, punching through the glass to simply grab what she had rightfully paid for. Nothing was going to keep her from getting what was her’s today. The sound of shattering glass only attracted more onlookers, who would even out the numbers for the ones that quickly scurried off as the girl had punched through the machine.
But Mocci didn’t care, she couldn’t be bothered. She got what she wanted and earned it too. She opened the bag from its top and reached in to take a chip as she walked away and down the sidewalk. She popped a single chip into her mouth and immediately looked disappointed, muttering to herself.
“Ugh, stale…”

How Much is 100 Zeni Worth? PL: 30 (Suppressed) / 70,030 (Base) | (x4) Hydrogan: OFF
"The vending machines in this damn city are awful. You should've grabbed more than just the one bag."
Garon had seen the entire scene from a distance and decided to approach the girl once the onlookers had dispersed. Though normally Garon would have a much more Hydrogan-ish reaction to this kind of vandalism, he had found himself in a similar situation not too long ago. He could sympathize in a weird kind of way. "Don't feel bad about breaking the glass. Same thing happened to me just a couple of weeks ago. You wouldn't believe how annoying that kinda shit can be." Garon halfway pointed at the bag of stale chips Mocci was holding. "It's even worse when the food isn't even that good." Garon didn't bother extending a hand for a handshake, but would at least introduce himself. "Name's Garon. If you really want somethin' to snack on, I know there's a coffee shop not too far from here. They probably sell pastries or something like that, I dunno. Only ever went in there once, and back then they uh... weren't serving food." What he (rather purposefully) failed to mention was that the coffee shop wasn't serving food because the whole city was in danger and the owners had most likely evacuated, but then wasn't the time nor place. "I can give ya directions if you want, but I might head over there myself anyway. All this talk about food's got me hungry too."
Mocci Sorry for the late reply!

Mocci looked to Garron as he would speak towards her, popping another chip into her mouth as he’d listen to him. “Right!?” she’d reply to the other's remark about how it felt when the food came out terrible. “These things are sealed air-tight, do you know how long it has to take for a closed bag to go stale?!” she held up the small, plastic bag of chips to further emphasize her point. Mocci was rather passionate when it came to her food and drink, she turned into something of a speeding train who’s only stop was the satisfaction of something to tide her over until dinner.
She was just glad that there was someone who could sympathize with her problem. It seemed like every piece of technology was out to get her. Or maybe she was just careless. But surely a pattern of losing her things under cars, getting struck by buses, and nearly having her money stolen by vending machines wasn’t just a coincidence. No, she had to be cursed.
“Name’s Mocci, nice to meet ya,” the girl replied, lifting yet another chip to her lips for her to eat. She might not have paid much for her food, and it might’ve been disappointing for all the effort she put into getting it. But she was gonna enjoy it as much as she could. She raised an eyebrow at the offer of a coffee shop. Pastries didn’t appeal to her too much, but a nice, bitter coffee sounded like just the thing she needed. “Oh yeah? Not unusual. I know a couple of shops that started out serving literally nothing but coffee. Wasn’t until about a year ago that they actually put anything like bear claws on the menu.” she rambled. Well, she definitely didn’t seem to pick up on exactly why the place Garron spoke of wasn’t serving. Though maybe that was for the best.
“Lead the way then, I’ll even pay for your’s if you like.”

"Alright, let's get goin'."Garon would shove his hands in his hoodie's pockets as he began to walk towards where he thought the coffee shop was. It'd be a couple seconds before he added, "...And don't worry about paying for my stuff. I got my own cash." For a moment, he wasn't entirely sure what to say. It was rare that Garon could talk with people like this, especially random girls his age who he happened to run into on the streets. This was usually the part when some wannabe villain tries robbing someone three blocks over, and Garon has to cancel the conversation to go do hero work. He thought something- anything would interrupt this. Frankly, he was glad it never happened. "Ok, Mocci..." Garon said, the curiosity in his voice nearly tangible. "So, what's your deal? You're clearly into that whole martial-arts-ki thing everyone seems to be going on about. Don't know many people who can shatter glass like that." That was a bold-faced lie; if he wanted to, he could name twelve simply off of the top of his head, even excluding himself. "Are you some kinda superhero or something? Whole bunch of them have been flyin' around all over the place recently. Seems like they can't ever catch a break, y'know?"
Garon stopped at a crosswalk when he realized that he had just missed the signal to go. "Dammit..." he muttered to himself, pressing the push-to-walk button and waiting for the cars to go by. Mocci
