Another day another Zeni. Nero had great fondness for this life of his, he helped people be happy and by extension was happier for it himself. Today, he had the morning shift at the Central City branch of Punchin’ Pancakes, and all was as it should be. Regular customers came and went, the odd new face emerged here and there, but nothing blatantly out of the ordinary or super quirky and interesting happened thus far. So, his shift went off without a hitch.
One by one, it came time for the employees of the morning shift to trade off their stations to their afternoon counterparts. Nero was among the last to be switched but he was generally very efficient with how he finished up— being rather quick to change out of his uniform, stowing it into his backpack and back to his normal clothes. He checked the kitchen one last time to make sure everything was in working order only to notice that his fellow co-workers of the morning shift decided to stick around and wait for him so that they could likely hang out, they were a pair of mint colour Majin twins, one male and one female— Pluua and Plova respectively; who already made the group’s favorite individual pancakes. Employee perks are awesome, who knew?
“Neroooooo, hurry up brah, we gotta get a table out heeere, y’know how the lunch rush iiiis duuuude.” Pluua jokingly urged Nero from over the counter as the Saiyan was finishing up a few last minute things, to which his sister lightly smacked him on the back of the head in a similarly joking manner. “You can’t just rush the MVP of the shift, doofus.” Nero smirked and rolled his eyes at this, finally slinging his backpack over his shoulder. “Alright, alright, chill. I’ll be out in a second.”
As promised, a second later, Nero had leaped clean over the main counter and right over to his co-workers. “See?” He chuckled, turning to now face the counter, giving a confident nod to the teenage Beppan lad now on duty there, he was sixteen years old and it was his first day of employment!. “You do your best now, alright bud? I know you’re new and all, so if you need any help just ask anyone you’re on shift with, or us if they’re a bit too busy, yeah?” Unsurprisingly the young man was a little anxious, but knowing he had the support of his co-workers did wonders for his confidence. “Awesome, and of course I’ll do my best!”
With all of that squared away, Nero Pluua and Plova were all free to take a seat at a nearby booth for four, with the twins sitting on opposite sides facing each other and Nero taking the seat by Pluua who was barely keeping still. “Yuhhhh, lets dig in, yo!” Plova smiled slightly at the energy her sibling had. “He’s got enough of an appetite to rival a Saiyan, huh?” She mused, raising a brow at Nero. “Oh pfft— yeah right, it’s hardly a fair comparison when he can quite literally eat though his hands.”
Which was exactly what Pluua was doing, to the amused semi-horror of his sister and friend.

The best thing about Earth, at least so far as Kayen had discovered, was it’s food, what they lacked in standard quantity sizes they often more than made up for it in quality, it was for this reason that Uria had been particularly excited about Kayen’s intent to head to Earth, a chance to give it’s various food innovations a try and perhaps challenge Kayen once again. He’d found a particularly great diner and promptly sought out his Captain to see if she was interested, it had taken more than a little badgering on his part but eventually he’d gotten her to agree to check it out, not challenges today, just them and Barb grabbing lunch so she could see what the place was like. “I’m tellin’ ya Cap, this place is great” Uria shouted boisterously as they neared the diner in question “Call me ‘Cap’ again and I’ll make you eat whatever table we sit at” Kayen said rolling her eyes as Barb chuckled at the look of horror on Uria’s face, the trio fell into relative silence as they made their way into the diner. “‘Ere it is! Told ya this place was great, smell the air, this is good food!” “You think your own cooking is ‘good food’ I’m not trusting anything you say until we’ve actually got something in front of us” while Uria’s cooking was little more than various degrees of burned husks with salt she DID have to admit that the scents coming from the food and kitchen WERE pretty good. Uria’s face shifted to a far more intense shade of red at the insult to his cooking prompting Barb to intercede “can you two pleeease not, the last thing we need is you two getting into a shouting match here” Barb said, she’d grown a bit more bold with how she spoke to the pirates since working on the Stormbreaker.

“Oh my god, Pluua knock it off pfhehehehe-” Plova giggled, far too amused by her brother’s dopey shenanigans to start eating her own food. Pluua noticed that eating through his hands, while funny, was probably not the most polite thing to be doing right now. “Okay, okay, I’ll stop. Snrrk— but you gotta admit, it was totes hilarious.” He shrugged, and ceased his tomfoolery as promised, but promptly looked at his tray all bewildered. Unfortunately, in the height of his silliness… “... Whoops. I totes just ate the fork and spoon.” He expelled a little whistle through the vents in his head— from his left hand, a fork and spoon re-emerged. “Phew, thankfully you didn’t fully absorb em just yet.” Nero shrugged, showing a bit of friendly snark.
The lunch rush soon began in full force, people of all ages bustled in and out. Despite the fact that today was the first day for a new employee, things went pretty smooth in fact, the only minor drawback was the lines got a bit long, and customers were understanding— regulars especially since they knew the newbie was exactly that, his uniform even had a special name tag that said so!
Eventually, a more noticeable and slightly out of place trio entered the establishment; for them the line would be relatively short, only two people were in front of them, they would be able to order in no time! It would be easy for them to see the lit up boards above the counter to see a large selection of things, and each board periodically refreshed to show more options, but it was slow enough that people could get a good read of each group of items.
Upon reaching the counter, the young Beppan greeted the new trio with a big smile. He seemed nervous, but not because of the people he saw. “Hello! Welcome to Punchin’ Pancakes, how can I help you all today?” It wouldn’t take much to figure out that the teen wasn’t used to his job just yet.
Out of curiosity, Pluua made a passing glance over at the counter just to see how things were going, and he snickered seeing what he saw before turning to his sister and Nero whispering. “Heh, get a look at that trio; one of em is even taller than you Nero.” Plova rolled her eyes and furrowed her brow at Pluua, clearly thinking her brother was being a little rude. “Pfft, what's the big deal with that? I can’t be the tallest guy you know.” Nero snorted, looking over his shoulder towards the counter. He took longer than just a glance. Something felt weird about what he saw. He shook it off and turned back to his tray of pancakes. He couldn’t have seen what he just thought he saw...
Right?

Kayen rolled her eyes at Barb but ultimately chose to concede to her request and leave Uria be, Uria looked half tempted to keep the argument going but as he opened his mouth to protest he quickly found an elbow in his ribs, to his surprise delivered by none other than Barb herself, while the engineer lacked the raw power that Kayen had or even really Uria himself she DID know some of the big man’s weak points and at a half decent understanding of how to attack them from Kayen’s attempts to train her. Getting stronger was not exactly something Barb felt was likely in her future, but learning the mechanics behind combat? That was at least feasible, maybe she could even develop some tech to do the fighting for her, like the Androids Earth seemed so fond of. With the situation handled Kayen turned to face the Beppan manning the counter giving him a wide grin, she gave him a quick once over and paused as she reached the name tag that indicated him as the newbie “I should get those, make new recruits to the crew wear that, that’d be fun” Kayen’s grin widened. “We need a spot for three.. Actually maybe a bigger table, Uria’s basically two people” “HEY” “and we’re gonna be ordering a lot, my experience on Earth usually has it that you guys don’t have Saiyan sized portions as a standard so whatever we order just like, bring three of it I guess. Even Barb eats more than most Earthlings” Kayen said pointing a thumb back at the slim framed Saiyan who gave the worker an awkward smile and wave while doing her best to keep Uria under control. “That sound good kid?” Kayen tried to make a habit of not actively screwing with the people who served her food, that was the fastest way to having your food messed with, all Kayen wanted right now was something decent to eat “Do I tell you guys what I want here or at a table.. Actually.. Uria go get us somewhere to sit” Kayen said making a shooing motion at the man and earning a frustrated grumble before he accepted the order and wandered off in search for a suitable table. As he wandered away from the counter he spotted a good sized table near another trio, a pair of majin and a guy with.. A weirdly familiar haircut trying to get a look at something, Uria halted as he approached tilting his head to one side in confusion, the guy almost looked a bit like the Captain, maybe he was some sort of Saiyan? Kayen never talked about family, most of the crew figured she, like most of them, lacked any real family.

“Huh? Oh this?” The Beppan inquired, lightly tugging on the nametag and uniform label indicator. “I think they’re pretty helpful, seeing as how they let customers know who isn’t as experienced as some of the senior staff members. Makes people more understanding of any flubs n’ stuff like that.” Of course, this was explained with a slight air of confidence. Surely this young man thought he was going to do very well! He snickered slightly at the casual friendly dissing that went on between the trio before him before nodding, attentive to this new customer’s requests and needs. “Yup, sounds good! Lemme double check and get this all squared away. You’ll be needing a spot for three and a bit more— yeah there should be one over there where your friend is going, so that should be easy... You’ll also be pleased to know that we have ‘Saiyan Size’ as a level you can make a special order at, which hilariously enough is more or less three of what would be a standard order, so I can eaaaassily set you up for that. Would you like a menu to read rather than craning your head up at the boards?” He asked, picking up two menus from behind the counter. “You can order here at the counter, sure, then I’ll give you an order number and your stuff will be delivered to the table. Is that everything so far?” Despite obvious confidence, the young man was double and triple checking he had all of his bases covered.
Meanwhile, Nero and his friends were back to peacefully enjoying themselves... With the very subtle difference of Nero being juuust a smidge crankier and less talkative. The Majin twins unfortunately didn’t notice this, since Pluua was busy being a goofball which took most of Plova’s attention so she could make sure her brother wasn’t being too much of a doofus.
This left Nero more or less to his own devices. He chose not to look back around the corner just in case he did indeed see what he thought he saw. He wasn’t going to freak out in this safe haven, he adamantly refused to even get anywhere near that level of unhinged rage. Nobody here deserved it except for the source of his anger. If she was even here, Nero liked to think he had enough willpower to prioritize the positivity he associated to this place over the negativity he associated with his sister.
Unfortunately, none of that could stop Uria from wandering this way. To make matters worse, he decided to just awkwardly stare right at Nero. The Saiyan noticed of course, and for a moment decided not to engage until the other’s gaze went on for too long. Nero responded with an annoyed glare— and not just any glare, it was disturbingly similar to someone else’s… “Sorry, table’s full. You’ll need to find another one.”

Uria might not be the most powerful of Kayen’s crew, even discounting Kayen herself, but he was no slouch either and while he would never SAY it was rather proud that Kayen generally only spoke positively of his work during sparring sessions. And of course being a pirate he felt a need to maintain a certain air of menace when it came to the average person, under normal circumstances anyone giving him the stink eye like how the strange Earthling was would have earned a punch in the face to show that Uria was not someone to be messed with. But something about him… it felt… It made him nervous, in the way only Kayen could accomplish. Maybe it was because the guy looked just a bit like the captain but it was not a theory Uria was overly eager to test. “Uh.. yeah” Uria mumbled while standing a bit more straight to look more imposing even as he took a step away trying his best to end the interaction without actually looking as nervous as he felt. “Perfect, saves a lot of effort, yeah menu’s sound good, maybe get us started with some bacon and sausage while we figure out what else we want. I’m gonna go find the idiot before he eats a table or something” Kayen said giving the Beppan a nod and turning on her heel to head to Uria finding the large man in the midst of both doing his ‘im big and bad’ routine while also trying to back away. “Hey Uria, quit harassing the locals already, nobody wants to talk to you, and you wont look cool by beating an Earthling in one of your ridiculous eating contests!” Kayen shouted as she approached, with Barb sticking by the counter for a moment to see if the Beppan wanted to give them the menu’s rather than needing to waste time having them sent to the table and giving him an apologetic look for just about everything having to do with Kayen and Uria. “Don’t worry, they act rowdy but when it comes to food none of us tend to cause any problems, they might just be a bit loud”

“Excellent, standard breakfast stuff, I got youuu.” The Beppan entered the basic order for three; giving a slight nervous chuckle seeing the exchange occurring nearby. “Man, bothered just after getting off of work, yikes..” He figured Nero and the others could easily handle themselves in a calm and dignified manner. Despite being very welcoming to people of all kinds, Punchin’ Pancakes was a family friendly establishment. Loudness was to be expected, especially during busier hours, but if someone was being too obnoxious, the employees knew what to do. Violence on the other hand; understandably prohibited. “Oh, I think it’ll be fine. From what I’ve been told, we get a loooot of Saiyan customers or big eaters as is— it’s why we have the supersized option and all. Just keep ‘em grounded yanno? If anything gets out of hand, we know what to do.” He explained, with a confident grin, passing the three little menus over to Barb along with an order number in a special pancake themed stand. “Here you go, your food and all will be out soon.”
Since Nero spoke up quite bluntly towards Uria, the Majin twins noticed something was happening. “Bwuh? You alright man? Who waz’zat?” Pluua tilted his head, scratching the side of his head with his antennae since he had his hands full of food. “Dunno, I guess they haven’t seen a guy this good lookin’ before or whatever.” Nero scoffed sarcastically as he shrugged. He finished off his food soon after, paying little attention to the manner in which Uria retreated since the situation had immediately resolved itself.
Or so he thought. It was as he feared. Nero knew that voice; of course it was younger the last time he heard it but it was hard to forget the general tone of his sister’s voice. The Saiyan just stared off into space, looking increasingly annoyed from Pluua and Plova’s point of view. “Oh, don’t worry. Your friend hasn’t done anything aside from... Awkwardly staring for some reason.” Plova stated calmly to Kayen in Nero’s stead.
Pluua on the other hand was still a fair bit lost, he was wondering why the guy was sizing up Nero to begin with, but it didn’t make sense to make a fuss out of it. So, he decided to be positive and welcoming instead! What could go wrong? “No biggie, no biggie, we’re all here to eat yeah? Food is great, I’m sure we can all agree! Look, the booth just across from us is free, go ahead and take a seat over there, yo!”
Ordinarily, Nero would welcome and encourage Pluua’s enthusiasm. This time however, he grumbled indignantly to himself. Now Pluua definitely knew something was wrong. “Uhhh? Nero, are you okay man?”

“Uria won't cause any trouble, not as long as Kayen’s around, he probably just got it in his head to try and challenge him” Barb said giving a slightly forced smile to hid her nervousness, her statement WAS true but there was always a chance Uria would do something well… stupid, he was as proud as any Saiyan and all she could really hope was that whoever he was apparently harassing just ignored him and Kayen handled putting him in his place. “I’ll do my best to keep things in order, its a bit tough since shes my… well boss and Queen, and I guess captain at this point” Barb gave a shrug before gathering up the offered menus and table number and turning to join the others. She supposed she WAS technically part of Kayens actual crew now, the others treated her as such. Idly she wondered what she would do if ever Kayen broke off from the Kingdom again, either through losing the crown or just getting bored of ruling. Where Kayen was tall Uria was wide, not the biggest for his species, and in fact primarily it was muscle, but he his mass was more than enough to obscure Kayen’s view of who he was harassing as she approached, her height would really only matter for that once she was closer “Be careful, he might be in love then” Kayen said with a laugh earning an indignant growl from Uria as she grabbed his shoulder intending on ‘helping’ him extract himself from the situation. But before she could pull her boisterous Security Officer away Kayen’s vision swept over the trio he had been bothering, two majins of no particular note, but the third, the one Uria had been harassing, he gave her pause, her cocky smirk dropping first before her entire expression shifted to confusion as her brain processed what, or more accurately WHO she was looking at. She’d known he was on Earth, little Pankaa had confirmed that for her, but she had no plans to seek him out, at least not yet… And yet she knew it was him, she didn’t need to feel the familiar energy signature, and the Majin speaking his name was just another layer of certainty. “Nero?”Even with the Majin giving the name she didn’t know what else to say, no other question or comment quite felt right, she just needed HIM to confirm what she already knew.

Both Pluua and Plova thought Kayen’s joke somewhat funny, Pluua more so than Plova. “Well he’s also a great guy, wouldn’t really blame anyone if they were, to be honest.” He added with a shrug, obviously seeing no threat from any of the group that had gathered; especially Uria since he had thus far been the butt of a few jokes. He could relate though, being a massive class clown himself.
The universe conspired against Nero at every turn it seemed. Pluua just had to open his big mouth now of all times. Nero grumbled further, still stubbornly looking away. A very small spark of power danced across the scar on the side of his head. Blink, and it would have been missed— unless someone was paying attention or could perceive rather quick things.
When Kayen spoke his name, several more tiny sparks scuttled across Nero’s scars as his gaze immediately snapped to her, a glare so far beyond the annoyance he held towards Uria earlier... Even now, however, it wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that he was absolutely holding back what could only be a terrifyingly furious expression, or worse.
Nero’s soul piercing stare was now there for all to see. His Majin friends thought correctly— something wasn’t right! The two looked to each other in a bid to figure things out between themselves. They both wanted to step in for Nero’s sake, yet were unsure if that was a viable move; they had only ever him boiling with the rage of a thousand suns like this once over a very specific topic— one wrong move and they might only annoy him more. Pluua being the more confident of the two, opened his mouth to speak, fearing the worst… “So hey, uh—”
But the worst never came. The mild crackling of energy spluttered out as quickly as it came, and Nero rolled his eyes while abruptly getting out of his seat. “Wha-? Hey Nero wait—” Plova began to plead, only to be cut off by Nero himself. “I’ll handle it.” Plova was worried of course, but she still trusted him.
Stepping forward, Nero lightly furrowing his brow at Uria since the guy was in his way. He was a bit of a bother, but in the end Nero had no real qualms with him. “I have no business with you. Please go back to your friends and refrain from bothering us.” If there already wasn’t any behavioral confirmation that he and Kayen were related, this was absolutely it— both of them were very direct and to the point when they wanted to be. “My sister on the other hand,” Nero glare shot at Kayen momentarily as he explained to her crew-mate. “I unfortunately do have business with. Business that is unfitting of the current time and place. I hope that you understand.”
Nero of course assumed that Uria would be a reasonable man. If Kayen had to reel him in, so be it. Regardless of the outcome Nero simply returned to his seat, giving an apologetic nod to his co-workers. So this was the sister they had heard anything about? Now everything that happened thus far made sense, and the two knew well enough not to pry into this matter if Nero was unwilling. If anything, they were impressed that the Saiyan actually held himself together!

Kayen had not had any intention of seeking Nero out, with everything that Pankaa had told her it seemed…. Wrong… to be the one to seek HIM out, he should have been able to make the decision to seek her out, give him a chance to figure out what he might want to say, if anything at all, maybe he would have just decided he wanted no part of meeting with her and painful as the thought was it would have been an entirely fair choice for him to make. But apparently fate had conspired against Kayens intentions, instead now it had shoved them together into the same building and right next to each other no less, and no amount of forewarning from the little bird about Nero’s opinion of her could have prepared Kayen for his reaction to her saying his name. The glare he fixed her with was as fierce as anything she was capable of, were anyone else to look at her in that manner they likely wouldn't have survived long enough to regret it, instead with Nero he was able to see a small shift in her expression, regret tugging at her heart. Uria managed to angle himself in such a way to let him take a look from Nero to her his brain trying to play catch up on what the hell was going on. The pieces started to click into palce for Uria just in time for Nero to tell him, in his own way, to fuck off, before making everything both a bit more clear and a whole hell of a lot more murky for him as he referred to Kayen as his sister, he briefly tried to protest only for Kayen’s grip on his shoulder and neck to tighten painfully as she forced him to follow the man’s request and take his seat at the table putting him away from the action for the moment. Kayen used her moving of Uria as a brief moment to collect herself and figure out how to proceed, she didn’t ACTUALLY figure out what she SHOULD do as her mind was thrown into complete chaos but she’d certainly tried. “Nero, I didn’t realize you would be here. Do you.. I dont know want to go somewhere else? Talk?” Kayen rarely found herself at such a loss “I’ve missed you” Kayen said it without really thinking, mostly just operating on a stream of consciousness but as she said it she realized it was perhaps NOT the best thing to say, it sounded nice certainly, but she doubted it was something Nero wanted to hear NOW.

Nero silently cursed his luck. He knew Kayen was a rather direct person, but even she should have some level of subtlety and tact, right? Nero couldn’t begin to wonder what possessed her to even approach of her own accord if she had even the slightest inkling as to consequences of what she had done. All Nero wanted was peace, quiet and a normal life.
But apparently fate had conspired against him just as much as it did his sister— it brought them together in one of the few places Nero viewed as a safe haven.
Did Nero feel good seeing even the slightest shift in Kayen’s expression, seeing her feel even a small amount of guilt? On the surface, absolutely. It was almost cathartic. Deep down however, very deep down for that matter; Nero felt off about having such a reaction. It was so very unlike him, and subconsciously he knew that.
Disregarding Uria’s attempt at protest entirely, Nero let Kayen sort it out; that man was of her entourage and therefore mostly her responsibility. If there was no more trouble to become of them, Nero was satisfied. Pluua and Plova looked between each other anxiously having also finally finished their food. They gave Nero an encouraging smile before gathering their things together so that they would be ready to leave. “We’ll head off. You got this, my dude?” Pluaa asked Nero, shooting a stink eye glare at Kayen after hearing her speak up, very clearly ready to speak on Nero’s behalf. “Alright thats en—” Only for Nero himself to cut in.
“Enough.” A cold and dry tone coming from a naturally peppy man was never a good sign. A comical wheeze of air escaped Pluua’s forehead vents out of surprise “... Yeah, y-yeah, gotcha. Sorry.” Pluua cleared his throat, Nero shook his head and shrugged. “Don’t worry about it. You guys can head off if you want.” The two Majins nodded and made their way out of the diner, leaving Nero’s attention squarely on Kayen; a tired disgruntled look on his face. “You’re here to eat, so do that. The food’s great, so you damn well better enjoy it.” Nero said bluntly whilst double checking that he had all of his things with him. As he began to head out he snarled at Kayen. “I’m sure you can ‘miss’ me for a little longer. I’ll be across the road at the park.” With that, the trio of pirates were left behind.
The Beppan cashier had also strolled on over with the group’s massive order of food. He did his best to keep a solid smile on for their sake, but it was clear he saw something was wrong. “Alright everyone, here we are; Saiyan-sized breakfast platter. If there’s anything else I can do for you guys at this time, don’t hesitate to ask!”

Kayen’s eye flitted away from Nero for just a moment as one of the Majin spoke up narrowing just enough as he glared at her and tried to cut in, to presumably try to get her to stop trying to talk with Nero. He was presumably simply trying to be a good friend to Nero, but Kayen couldn't bring herself to care, he was trying to get in HER way. Luckily though before she could do or say anything Nero was already cutting him off and the pair took their leave allowing Kayen to focus back on Nero. She wasn’t sure exactly what to feel when he looked back at her, there wasn’t the same intensity of rage from before, instead he looked… frustrated… tired, it was hard to place exactly what he was feeling. Likely it was as muddled and confused as Kayen was feeling herself. But frustratingly he did not quite immediately take her up on her offer, instead telling her to sit and eat and then meet him later. He was gone before she could say anything else leaving Kayen silently seethed, not angry with Nero, but just… angry, she’d acted like a confused child while speaking to him and “Kayen? Is everything ok?” Barb chimed in breaking through the mess that was her thoughts, she was very clearly concerned and also completely lost. Kayen clenched her fist and all but growled at the Beppan boy as he brought the food “You two eat, I’ll be back” She wouldn't wait, food wasn’t nearly as important right now, she could hardly just sit around with her mind still as much a mess from the encounter as it was, this was something that needed dealing with NOW. And so Kayen rushed out of the diner nearly taking the door off its hinges as she made her exit, taking a look in the air Kayen realized that the park nearby was rather familiar, the very same one she had met little Pankaa at, she REALLY hoped the kid wasn’t there today, having that throw in into the mix would likely make this all the more of a mess. Kayen reached out with her senses and picked out Nero’s energy signature, despite its strangely low reading it was more than familiar enough to find, with a lock on it Kayen took off for his location.

In hindsight, being a man of immense gutsiness; Pluua was more than likely absolutely ready to throw down since he was more of a do-er than a thinker like his sister or Nero. Now, despite being the intensely protective and brash Majin that he was, he knew there were limits, and Nero stepping in made fact very clear.
Nero himself could only just barely bring himself to care even a single iota about Kayen’s perplexed and confused expression in the wake of his blatant outward seething. ’Of course she has nothing to say... Why am I not surprised.’
The Beppan lad sighed as Kayen abruptly left. He felt no immediate need to ask about the exact specifics of what went down, he was simply glad that the one seemingly at the center of the issue was vacating the premises before anything went wrong inside or immediately around the diner. Looking over to Barb, he gave another honest smile. “I’ll see about getting her portions to go once you’re all done here, will that be acceptable?” In the end, he was happy to have at least two customers, that surely counted for something.
— Glad to have left that awkward and suffocating scenario behind, Nero swiftly made his way across the road to the park; there was a fancy new futuristic fountain finally built after the recent death battle from about a month ago. Thankfully that was more or less the extent of property damage around this part of Central City. Nero made no action to hide himself, but he didn’t exactly try and stand out either. As far as Nero was concerned, if Kayen actually came looking for him, she would have to make an effort to find him. ’Just get this crap over with, Nero. You make promises, and you keep them. Even this one that probably won’t amount to a single half way good thing… Until she earns it, until she makes amends, she isn’t forgiven.’

Barb let out a long sigh as Kayen departed and the Beppan put down the food on the table where Uria had already taken up a seat, mostly to make sure he did not piss off Kayen by getting in the way again, the man looked from the food to Barb expectantly unsure if they were going to take off after her or remain here “I’m really sorry about all of that, if you could that would be great.” Brab said giving him a smile before sliding into the booth on the opposite side of Uria “go on, chasing her now wont do us any good. She’d probably just punch you” Uria briefy gave her a ‘wait why me’ look before realizing that yeah, Barb WAS the least likely of the two of them for Kayen to attack. He was friendly with the Captain but probably not strictly a ‘friend’, Barb however almost certainly was.
Back with Kayen the Queen was in the air high above the park trying to get a proper lock on her brother’s power signature, desperately wishing her brother’s current power was higher, to help it better stand out against the meaningless background power of the other people in the park, eventually however she found it and took off finding the familiar signature in a more open air part of the park, near a fountain of some sort. Kayen landed hard, a bit harder than intended as the impact cause cracks in the paved stone paths, as a result it caused some of the nearby civilians to predictably freak out a bit and take off running, some of them likely expecting that she was some sort of invading force like Sensoa and wanting to get as far away from the potential battle as possible. Finding Nero should have been FAR easier, his power was so far below what Kayen knew to be his full potential. Perhaps he had learned some sort of suppression technique to not attract as much attention? It didn’t matter either way she would… hopefully… find out later “...Hey” Kayen said not entirely sure how to begin as she made a slow approach toward Nero. It was still so very strange to see him as he was now rather than as the child she remembered.

For what few moments of peace Nero was given, he enjoyed them. The atmosphere of the park gave him an opportunity to at least slightly clear his head. At the end of the day, he would go home, returning to the life he wanted, free of what he viewed as a burden. This peace was sorely short lived, as Nero was attentive enough to his surroundings to notice someone out of the corner of his eye flying downward; Kayen. “Great..”
To make matters worse though, Kayen decided to land hard, as if she damn near owned the place— understandably, some people were threatened and thus ran off as quickly as possible. Given the recent attack on Central City, Nero sighed, he couldn’t really blame them, but he wasn’t going to waste time on that now, he was way more annoyed that she seemed to lack some common courtesy, manners or awareness of current events. Nero had half a mind to just up and leave, though he figured if he did, then Kayen would pursue or start something that would force him to stay.
When Kayen drew closer, Nero simply gave her a disappointed look, sighing when she spoke to him. “Ah, hey.” He responded coldly, with a fair bit of bite to his voice. After an awkward pause having expected Kayen to actually keep talking, Nero rolled his eyes and decided to speak instead. “You not hungry or something? Pfft, that’s new.” Unfortunately he had nothing all that nice to say. “Just so you know, the only reason I’m sticking around is because I promised some people I’d at least hear you out. Don’t make them regret it. Because I kinda already do.” Nero had much more to say, and it was clear he was fighting to hold back on saying anything worse or more mean spirited even if he was well within his rights to absolutely tear into Kayen.
