The bright stars above shown like beacons across the endless black, the lights of the streets illuminating the snow covered roads. Vehicles of different shapes littered the parking area's along the side walk. The ones being driven were scarce to the eye, and the people who were on the side walks told the tell that many were indoors seeking warmth. It was clear that those who were out and about were bound for places of important to themselves, most tucked down to keep warm as they hugged themselves.
One such individual was rather taller than the rest, his long white hair parted by his ears on a swivel. Green eyes searching the store fronts for the one he sought. Sensoa, the demon who had threatened earth, his face tucked into a hoodie to avoid being seen. He had kept his head down for some time, not because he feared retribution, but he understood the panic he would cause. His ears poking through the hoodie to allow free movement. It was a cold night, and the demon could feel the chill bite into him like none other. The flame that had kept him warm was long quiet, having disappeared upon his defeat and the revelations he had faced.
As the demon reached the store he was bound for, his eyes falling on the workers inside the bakery. He had been working late, a small part time job at the local Lumber mill. The man who ran it was aware of his identity but didn't seem to care, or perhaps... he cared but decided to give him a chance? The demon couldn't rightly say, but he was glad to help out for barely any pay. Today had been a long day, and the demon wanted nothing more than to relax with some sweet honeyed bread.
Slowly the door was opened, the bell ringing as he entered and the employees glancing at him before getting ready to take his order. The exchange was quick, the demon getting what he wanted and paying as he should. He had been reading many a book to learn why things were the way they were. He took his time, as he knew he had as much time as he needed. Slowly the demon turned to the door before waving to the workers and leaving the building where he made his way to the bench just outside of the Bakery. The demon slowly taking his time to unwrap his snack, and beginning to eat it. He knew his presence here was not exactly unknown, a few people had seen him, the fear in their eyes present. He couldn't just leave by running away, not after all the trouble he had caused. Slowly the demon took a bite from his bread while staring at the stars in the sky. This world... something about it was addictive to the demon and he couldn't just leave it.
He had put a lot of thought into just leaving, to just disappear among-st those stars and never return. He could just abandon his problems as easily as blinking... yet some part of him didn't want to leave. Some part of the demon had been compelled to stay... and as such he had. But the day when retribution would be upon him would come... and he would pay the price for his crimes... that thought frightened him for the first time ever and yet it brought comfort to him. He was not beyond consequences... he wasn't special. That every thought warmed his heart and made him feel at ease.

Saizomaru PL: 150,000 (Base)
It had been a long while since Saizomaru had decided to come and visit Jingle Village. It was many years ago that he had helped in a rescue operation after an avalanche came crashing down from Mount Frappe, hitting not only this village but the many others that were settled this far up north. The people here called it the Frostfall.
Fortunately, his visit was not required for something as treacherous as that, but treacherous it was. Ever since the events of Central City, the android had his old military squad keep an eye on Sensoa, the demon who instigated the attack, and track his movements. Saizomaru didn’t know whether it was out of necessity or curiosity, but he felt the need to go and see what exactly Sensoa was up to. Things had been silent on both ends, so he couldn’t be up to anything bad—at least for now.
The air turned frigid and the skies grew darker as the android soared towards the northern mountains at a fast yet casual speed. It didn’t take him too long before he had reached the plateaus and snow-caped flatlands where the people here set up civilization. Slowly he descended as to not disturb the snow below, padding his boots against the white carpet.
His attention turned to one direction. He knew where to follow. Ever since the retaking of Satan City, he had some disturbing affinity for sensing and tracking demonic energy. It stood out far more than anything else. With a lock on who he was looking for, he made his way through the streets, passing by the people who wandered around so late at night. Some of them were nice enough to give a smile or a wave or a ‘hello’. Others were drunk, barely able to stand on their own two feet; the icy pavement didn’t help matters either.
Then, Saizomaru stopped. Sat upon a bench was a large man covered head to toe in black clothing. The only distinguishing features visible from a sideward glance was the long ears that poked through the top of his hood. It was the only identifying features the android needed. He had found who he was looking for.
Casually he made his way over to the figure. Twisting his torso, he took a seat beside him, back reclined against the rest with his arms draped over the top of it. He folded one leg over the other as he tilted his head back, gazing up at the stars above.
”Nice night tonight, isn’t it?” he said with a calm voice. ”Lots of stars. Lots of planets out there. Can’t see the North Star, though.”

(Spoilers for FF14 in the video. Don't watch if you haven't played it.)
Sensoa had just taken a bite from his honeyed bread when the voice of Saizomaru rang out. The demon's motions stopped, his eyes softening as he said nothing for a moment. He swallowed his food before lowering his head, and a long drawn out breath released. It wasn't the sort to say he was displeased or frustrated but of resignation. He kept his gazed fixed on the ground before him, not tensing up or showing signs of getting ready for anything. He just didn't have it in him to struggle, but he also didn't feel he deserved too... or perhaps he just didn't want to cause anymore trouble. "Aye... lots of planets... but only one earth."Sensoa raised his gaze once more to the stars above, thinking on his next words. "But they are all beautiful I suppose. I just wish I had seen that sooner... or knew the things I did now."Sensoa said this before offering the honeyed bread to Saizomaru, keeping his gaze away from his company. Saizomaru was not his enemy, even if the android attacked him. Sensoa had lost his desire for fighting, and having moved to a more docile way of thinking. He was just content now, or at least... attempting to be. He still had a few thoughts that he didn't understand, and Earthlings still caused the demon to tilt his head in some ways. Yet his studying had lead him to more developed understanding of how they worked. As such this had made him more inclined to try to change his views and how he worked... Yet it may have come at to late of a time. "I..."Sensoa's words stopped there, as he tried to think of the words to say to his former ally... former enemy... and Friend. Sensoa had crossed so many different levels in such a short time, he couldn't determine the right thing to say. But the next words he spoke were more of a jumbled thought than planned out. "I'm sorry... For what happened at Central city... Its not enough I know, but for what its worth... I'm sorry."Sensoa's head lowered as his gaze fixed to the ground at his feet, his body leaning forward so his elbows could rest on his knees. "In those moments, I... I had believed that I had to fix the world... That I was more important than anyone else... That I could save it... Yet it was never in need of saving, and I was no savior. I had believed that I was something I wasn't and through that belief I hurt people. I betrayed trusts... Destroyed homes... hurt innocent people... All because I was lying to myself."Sensoa sighed heavily then, realizing he was rambling or perhaps just spilling things that sounded like excuses? Or were they words to describe his crimes? Reasons? It was jumbled and he didn't know what he was wanting to truly say. "I burned a bridge for the future of demon kind... and I put my family in a position that could cause them pain... I was selfish, arrogant and self centered... I had a self pity complex and ran with it. We all have our stories... we all have our scars... and I let those scars define me instead of my deeds."Sensoa was ashamed of himself, and being next to someone who had lost a comrade because of his stupid decisions... He realized just how worthless his words were. He had gotten people hurt, homes destroyed and nearly killed Carro. On top of that he had brought unnecessary strife to a world that just wanted to live in peace. He had done what the bounty hunters had done to his family... He had made a home, wanting to live peacefully only to have someone destroy it. Sensoa had selfishly done the exact same thing done to him... and he was allowed to live to see the repercussions of such a terrible thing. He wanted to go to central city, to aid in its reconstruction but his appearance there would only cause more trouble. Barban had told him to stay home so that his appearance didn't cause panic. Hyuki and a few other crew members had gone there themselves to aid in the reconstruction some time ago, returning after they believed they had done enough. Yet now Sensoa was faced with his past once more... and Shame was all that he felt. Shame, guilt and regret. PL: 160,000

The android cocked his head to one side as he let out a hum. His fingers gently tapped on top of the back rest of the bench as he pondered those words of the demon. ”Yeah… One Earth,” he repeated in a slow, audible murmur. One Earth. One Namek. One Konats, Vegeta, Arcose—one of every planet. Yet, for some reason, it seemed that this planet drew more attention than any other.
Why? It was a thought that trekked through Saizomaru’s mind more times than he could count, making circuits around its track. Why Earth? Why a planet that has only recently made intergalactic travel commercial while Namek and Vegeta had this technology for centuries, if not millennia? What exactly made Earth… special?
He never really gave it much thought, let alone a reason to seek an answer. Even if he wanted to do that now, he was caught back into reality once he saw that Sensoa had extended an arm to him. The android reached out with his own, palm placed on the tear of bread for a moment. He then gently pushed it back towards the demon. ”I’m good,” he assured. ”I don’t need food. A rare luxury of androids, I guess.”
Androids. It was a word left with little brightness. Saizomaru recalled that time in Central City. Sensoa had labelled him a creation of war, fit only for combat. For all intent and purpose, it was true. He was given a new life to continue his time in Earth’s military, made better than ever. He was a machine designed for conflict and his body was only proof of that. In truth, he was a weapon far beyond then. He was a warrior born since birth. It was his destiny to be that.
Yet even he was able to break that mould and become more. Shifting his gaze to Sensoa, he glanced at him. He watched his posture, he ticks, and his motionless. He was, for lack of a better phrase, done. Maybe he could now change his path just as Saizomaru did.
It felt more likely than not once Saizomaru heard the words pour from the demon’s lips. So much was said of what he had done, yet all gift-wrapped in the bitter sweetness of regret and an urge to perhaps make things right. The android knew of those things. His own hands weren’t exactly clean but, even now, he strived to do what he could to try and make the world a better place.
He had told his adversary of their similarities. Those similarities just continued to grow.
”We all make our mistakes,” spoke Saizomaru in a calm, gentle, assuring voice as he leaned forward. He delved into his pocket and pulled out his electric cigarette. A press of the button made the strawberry-flavoured liquid fizz before he pressed the nozzle to his lips and took a drag on it. Vapour poured from his pale lips as he continued, ”You took a different path to me. You took the longer one but, in the end, you reached the same conclusion as I did.”
His blue eyes trailed out into the distance. He watched as the few people who still roamed the street so late a night made their way through the village. So many people who were ignorant of what was going on around them. So many ignorant of the dangers and threats that could affect them at any moment. ”The world may not need saving, but it does need protecting. It needed protecting from people like the Stargoons… from people like you.”
Saizomaru gave a small chuckle as he lightly tapped his hand on the larger man’s shoulder. ”But that’s over and done with now,” he said nonchalantly. ”No point in dwelling on the past. We can’t change it, as much as we would like to. The past can only form what we are now and we can use that to form our future.”
His eyes shifted to Sensoa, peering through the curtain of hair that framed his face. ”So… what will you do now? I’ve heard you made a bit of a living for yourself out here. Still, with someone of your strength, the Earth could always do with more protectors.” The android leaned back again as he took another drag of the vape. ”You may not be its saviour, but you can always be one of its protectors.”

Sensoa listened to Saizomaru speak, the demon's eyes up cast as he thought about the weight behind them. In the past, perhaps, but their consequences would be felt for years to come. Sensoa had brought a bounty of villains marching up main street of a capital city and threatening to turn it into a personal play ground. A star ship had been blown up in the planets orbit, a whole city had been nearly destroyed and to top it all off... their president had nearly been killed in action. It was clear that this would shake a lot of people's hearts in demon kind... and Sensoa had been the cause of it. He had been the catalyst for change sure... but was any of it good?
"I will do what you said... and try to patch up my bad impressions. I learned I was never a prince... Never a demon of war... They were lies told to me... lies I wanted to believe. But now? Now I want to be above what others made me think I was. I will serve Kayen faithfully... and I will try to ease the pain I've caused. I will do the opposite of what I did before. I will no longer strive to bring pain to those around me like I had. I will not be selfish."
Sensoa knew this would be easier said that done... All of this was still a fresh wound. His heart hurt, his mind was still a bit numb from all of the truths before him, and yet he felt resolved.
"I will be above what I have lowered myself too. I hit rock bottom, became a monster of my own making... But I will become more than that... But one step at a time. My first action... will be to apologize to those I have hurt, and ease their pain. Then I will ask if Kayen will still take me into her army once more. I love fighting, that will never change. But I will not be some stupid child who thinks it is all I want. If I am executed for my actions... then I will accept my death with understanding... but my crew of my ship will work till the damage is repaired to those who lost their homes. As my last order as their captain."
Sensoa didn't look at Saizomaru then, but kept looking forward. His eyes were still shaky, but resolve could be found their if one looked. Despite his hoodie keeping his face hidden, heat was emitting from the demon. Not scolding hot, but the warmth that told he meant no harm anymore. Perhaps one could go as far as to say that this dog had his fangs removed, given how he had lost his sword.
"I will face hate, I know that. But now I will be more open minded to it. I deserve it... and if the humans never forgive me. I can only hope they know I acted as a fool, and not as a demon. Also..."
Sensoa then looked down at Saizomaru's side, and despite him being machine... the demon felt bad for the wound he had dealt.
"I am sorry for what I did to you... I know you said it was in the past but... I still wished to say it. For everything... I am deeply sorry. But I shall not repeat it like a broken record. I just... needed to say that to you..."
Sensoa's eyes then returned forward, looking down the street at those who went about their own business.

It came as a bit of a shock to the android to learn and understand what Sensoa had just told him. He wasn’t any sort of prince, not raised as a weapon. For all of his life he was lied to. But the question was why? Why would he be fed this sort of falsehood and delusion of grandeur? Was it simply to affect his mentality and brainwash him to become a living weapon of war? Was part of it simply to motivate him into becoming a stronger person to better perform his ‘duties’? More so, who was it that wanted him to become what it was? So many questions, especially towards how Sensoa learned to discover the truth behind it all.
Then, once again, that name cropped up once more—Kayen. Saizomaru had learned of that name a while ago. This person was apparently friends with Kohlra, his partner. They were the one who scarred Tarch both physically and mentally, instilling within him a phobia of swords. Now, he was beginning to learn that this demon was beholden to them in some capacity.
Whoever this person was, was quite influential. And the android was not liking it one bit.
”Making amends for the actions you’ve taken.” The android hummed softly before he took a drag of the vape. Smoke poured in thin veils from his lips as he continued, ”Right now, that’s the best thing you can do. I’ve been there. I’ve done that. I still continue to do it even to this day. Half of it comes from that; the other, from a sense of duty to this planet. I was raised to be its protector, after all. Still, I can’t judge my own effectiveness at it. That’s for other people to decide.”
Such was the way of life. One could try and justify to themselves about how their actions were for the good of the people, for the good of the world, but, at the end of the day, the only thing that mattered was trying to justify those actions to the people around them. Everyone likes to think that they are the hero of their own story. How many wars and conflicts were started because of that mentality, so Saizomaru thought to himself.
How many more would come because of it?
But Sensoa already had his path laid out before him now, and the android listened with keen intertest and attentiveness. So many words yet all told the same story—to make things right. Saizomaru smiled a little as his listened, relieved by the fact that the demon was now beginning to understand what he was saying all along.
”Well… there is something else you could do instead.” The nozzle of the electric cigarette pressed against his lips as he exhaled. He turned his head away to blow the vapour away from in front of them. ”Don’t go back. Postpone your little meeting for a good while. Do what you said you were gonna do and do it quickly. Why settle for losing your life on an exchange that your team will help mend the bridges you burned when you can mend those bridges yourself? You can help much more alive than if you were dead.”
If was almost depressing listening to this once proud and debatable honourable warrior talk like the samurai of old. Samurai warriors who would kill themselves under the proxy excuse of ‘regaining one’s honour’, to run away from one’s failures, instead of continuing to live to make amends and to right their wrongs. That was the way a true warrior would regain one’s honor.
Saizomaru gave a small smile as he leaned back against the bench. ”Hey, I don’t need an apology,” he replied as he held his arm up and gazed over it, pivoting it from one side to the other. Then, he looked back at Sensoa. ”Nanomachines, son. They give me a pretty good healing factor compared to other humans. Another benefit of being an android, though. One of many, I would say. And…”
His arm lowered. He sighed as he continued to look at the demon’s obscured face. Then, he looked up at the stars. ”I’m sorry, too. Sorry for not being able to help you as much as I wanted. And, I guess, sorry for being envious of the fact that Carro was able to get through to you while I couldn’t. I guess I need to work a bit more on my persuasion skills—put more ranks into it or something.”
The android hummed for a moment. ”Actually… there’s something I need from you. Information, to be more precise.” His head turned to the demon once more. ”Who is this ‘Kayen’, exactly?”

Sensoa fidgetted with his meal, staring into the sky as the man spoke. Saizomaru had said he should post pone his meeting with Kayen until he had done more to help earth. In some ways Sensoa agreed, but the depths of his gratitude to kayen, his care about his queen and his desire to... well to make up for his blunder. He wanted nothing more to get this settled, as he had put a blemish on Kayen's name due to his failure. If he had succeeded, he could have renounced his allegiance to the saiyan kingdom, simply to avoid causing others to look at them as the cause. Yet now here he was beaten and broken. He looked like a fool, a dumb and ignorant child who the Saiyan kingdom would have to clean up after.
He was not ignorant of the problems he had caused, the fact his name was attached to the saiyan kingdom and people knew of that... it was clear that he had put a sort of dent in relations between the world. If it got public he was a saiyan kingdom member, then the public would blame the saiyan kingdom as if they had ordered the attack. It could be covered up, but that blemish could never go away. So hopefully it never went public. But then Saizomaru began to apologize himself, saying he should have talked more with Sensoa. The demon simply chuckled, shaking his head.
"No... I believe I was set upon my path of foolishness. You did what you had too. The blame is my own choices, and I am responsible. I am not some young pup anymore. I should have read more books, watched others more closely. If I had been more observant, I might not have been so... rash in my decisions. But I let the actions of a few taint my vision of the whole. I saw but the small picture, and not the many that exist beyond that one. So you need not apologize. Just... take care of the girl... She has a good master, one she deserves."
The demon still felt betrayed in some regard, that the girl had ditched him for a better master. But he could not blame the girl for seeking someone who didn't hurt them. Sensoa had been to rough... He was not a fit teacher and he accepted this. But then came the question that brought a smile to the demons face.
"Ahh Kayen... She is a good queen. To tell you of her would be difficult. She has my gratitude and my respect as a fellow warrior. She has bested me many times, shown me kindness in my darkest hours, and been a good friend. She is more than I could hope for in a queen, more than I deserve."
Sensoa looked to the sky then, staring at the stars that littered the black curtain that was the night.
"She took my family in when I was leaving the world trade fleet and on the run from bounty hunters. She fought me when I sought to quench the unending thirst for battle and she sheltered my family in her palace. HER PALACE of all places. She is the queen of the saiyans... a woman worthy of respect and beyond anything I could hope for... Where I was forced to bend the knee to others... I willingly bent the knee to her. She was... the first person I ever felt the desire to truly follow. Not only did she not slay me when I admitted to being the enemy. SHE ENCOURAGED ME to seek out her soldiers and fight them to make them stronger! HA! A commander of men, a woman of beauty, and a Queen of generosity. What more could a demon ask for?"
His words were filled with fondness, and his tone was that of someone who enjoyed speaking about the other. Sensoa loved Kayen, and would do anything for her. Yet he had tarnished her name by acting like an idiot and his smile soon faded.
"I have... acted foolishly... and I must atone for that idiocy before her. Because I not only owe her my life... but my families life as well."
Sensoa looked to Saizomaru then to seek understanding. He knew it was a move that could get him killed and leave his work unfinished. But to hide away from her was to disrespect her authority, and to him, that was important too. In his madness, he had believed he could help the saiyan kingdom by fighting them... even in his insanity he had thought of the kingdom and of Kayen... That was the layers of devotion he had for his queen...

Saizomaru PL: 150,000 (Base)
”Hindsight’s always twenty-twenty, isn’t it?” It was a common earthling phrase, yet one that was always true. Saizomaru knew that there were always excuses whenever someone had failed at something; they should have done more training, or they should have not eaten before going swimming, or they should have made sure that the graphics card was compatible with the motherboard—all of them made in hindsight. Sensoa was no different. Neither was the android.
His fingers tapped lightly on the top of the backrest. ”You never know if you made a bad decision until you live the consequences,” he continued as he looked up at the sky. It reminded him of when he and his mother would stargaze in the late hours of the evening. It was during one of those wonderful nights that she told him that exact thing. ”One can only know and understand so much before they make a decision. How many books would you have needed to read before you came to the conclusion you have now? What about watching people? Ten more? A hundred? A thousand? Would you have made the same excuses if you had won the battle?”
It was an entertaining thought but the android already knew the answer. He spun the electric cigarette in his hand for a few moments as he mused on that possibility. With a click of the button, he pressed the nozzle to his lips and took a drag of the vapour inside. ”No. Of course not. You would have thought you were right all along. You wouldn’t have read any more books or watched anyone else. You would have just gone from there thinking you made the right decision all along. Hindsight’s a bitch.”
Saizomaru had completely forgotten about Kitiana. He remembered electing himself to be her teacher but he hadn’t even seen her for so long. Maybe she ditched him like she did Sensoa. Only difference was that the android didn’t really care. It meant he could focus his time and attention on other things. ”Next time I see her, I’ll let her know,” he said with a resigned exhale. He did wonder what she was doing or even where she was. He couldn’t imagine when he would next see her.
But now it was getting to the important part of this conversation: information.
So, this Kayen person was the queen of the saiyans. A part of that revelation left the android somewhat awe-inspired, yet at the same time it also left a bitter taste in his mouth. It wasn’t just some random thug he scarred his son Tarch and left him traumatized of blades—it was the ruler of an entire planet and her race. Saizomaru furrowed his brow at the thought of it.
He would have to have a nice long chat with her about that, mainly involving a fist to her face.
”What more could a demon ask for?” With every passing word Saizomaru understood Sensoa just that little bit more, not of his past but of his present and, potentially, his future. She had offered him mercy. She had offered him sanctuary. She had offered him a new beginning. Those were all well and good, but how long would it be before the demon comes full circle once more? How long would it be until he once again bent the knee not out of his own ideologies but of someone else’s?
”The same thing everyone else could ask for… to serve and follow themselves.”
He took another long drag of the vape, then exhaled a dense cloud skyward. ”Riddle me this, Sensoa: if per chance Kayen attacked Earth… what would you choose? Would you stand by her side, or would you protect the Earth as you have now resolved to do? Would you choose loyalty, or would you choose honor?”
The android sighed as he pushed himself forward, hunching over and resting his elbows on his knees. His hands laced with one-another before shifting his head towards the demon. ”Look—I’m happy that you’ve found yourself a new life and a new purpose and all that jazz,” the android admitted despite his play of devil’s advocate, ”but you may need to make that choice. You might be forced to make that decision in a split instance. You might very well end up in an even worse position than you were in back in Central City—and if what you’ve said is true, Kayen won’t be sparing you like Carro did.”
He hummed with a small smirk. ”And, yes, before you ask, I’ve also had to make those decisions. Some of them I chose wrong, too.”
