[Anti-Sense: Active] [Thread's PL: 64,000]
A long while had passed since Vangreth arrived on Earth, and a great deal of things happened since then. Through these days, the Muko-jin became a better version of himself, met wonderful and horrible people, deepened his understanding of the world and himself in the process. With all of that, he ended up calling Earth his home, albeit temporarily, this place is just filled with opportunities and every day brings a new possibility to the table, much to Vangreth’s pleasure. Slowly, but surely, Vangreth was becoming an Earthling, bonding with its inhabitant, making memories around its landmarks and growing as a part of the grand scheme.
On this particular day, Vangreth meant to discover places he had only caught a glance when he was exploring the planet as a whole; places that could probably enlighten him on more about the world and grant him better understanding of how everything works on Earth; and one place in particular caught his attention above others. There was this tower, standing still in the middle of seemingly nowhere… Vangreth had seen it a few times already when he happened to be in the West, and today, he fully intended to pierce the mystery of that tower!
The Muko-jin headed for the tower and swiftly found it where it always was… standing there in the middle of the forest, curiously clean considering the location and the lack of a form of society that could clean it one in a while.
‘’ This thing must be here for something… let’s find out.’’
With those words, Vangreth dashed quickly towards the tower and began inspecting it, slowly going up, ascending towards the timeless lookout. It took him a few minutes top to reach the top of the tower, and finally notice this gigantic structure above the initial one, nodding to himself.
‘’ So… perhaps the tower serves a as marking point? To know were this place is in the sky? Weird… ‘’
The Muko-jin decided that it was worth the investigation and flew up there, fully intending to pierce the mystery of this now even more mysterious structure in the sky! A few seconds after flying up, he managed to set foot on top of the structure and have a look around. The place looked empty, the only sign of activity would be the plants growing in an unnatural way, clearly ben taken cared of by someone.
There was a ‘main structure’ to this temple-like sanctuary in the sky, so, without further hesitation, Vangreth made his way towards the door, and if nothing happened to prevent him from going all the way up to the door, he would give the door a few light knocks; something he saw a lot of villagers do back where he lived.
‘’ Hello? ‘’

MAC PL: 13,278
Mac was nearly to the ladder. Only twenty more feet to go. His whole body felt like it was on fire, but he had felt worse. After seeing this place from a distance, he knew he had to find out what was up there. It took about two days of travel to reach it. But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was seeing that the structure went past the clouds and there wasn't a ladder in site. Even with his grappling hook, it would only go so far. He almost gave up. But then he realized that giving up was losing to building. After everything he had been through he wasn't going to lose, especially not to a building. It took almost 16 hours but here he was.
Then he heard a loud zooming sound. He lost his grip and fell from the building. Almost instantly, he pulled out his grapple gun and shot it at the tower. It landed with a chink in the stone. Mac swung to the tower and smashed his body against it. He hung there for a second, both arms holding onto the gun. He retracted the cord and was slowly pulled back up. he pried the hook free and put the gun back into on of the numerous pockets on the inside of his jacket. He re-secured his grip on the top of the building and looked up to the top of the tower. His eyes showed one thing...
He. Was. Pissed. He began climbing the tower as fast as he could. In his rage he forgot about the pain that ran through his body. After two minutes he reached the base of the ladder and began climbing even faster. He climbed up over the edge of the building and began looking for the person who made him fall. Who he saw was... bizarre to say the least, but that didn't matter to him. He was still going to get his revenge.
He moved slowly up behind the being, unconsciously hiding his PL. When he was close enough, he wound up his body and lunged at the being, making his PL returning to normal, attempting to put him in a head lock. If he missed (which he most likely would), he would slam against the door and land upside down, drawing his pistol against the being.
Whether or not he successes, he said the same thing, "You almost made fall to my death, you better give me a good reason not to end you."

Almost a minute had passed while Vangreth was standing where the door of the main building was, and it seemed like nothing was happening… it was boring, and perhaps this place was abandoned? And like, the high wind here would clean it every now and then? That was certainly plausible… although that same wind would have caused damage to the structure over time if nobody was there to keep it in good condition, right? These questions were enough to distract Vangreth from the power level that seemed to be getting closer; not that he could really tell the difference between it and one of a simple bird because it was supressed.
At the exact moment he sensed an above average power appear behind him, he realized that he had been ignoring it for the past minute while thinking of a reason why nobody else were here! And so, he was caught completely off-guard and ended-up in a well-executed headlock! Well, he would be in danger if the force against his neck was enough to actually prevent him from breathing, but the only thing Mac had been lacking to get Vangreth into a position he wouldn’t be able to break from was power… everything else was well executed.
The voice of the human was too loud, spoken right in Vangreth’s ears while still in the head-lock position, and seemed to possess a lot of anger directed towards the Muko-Jin. He was not exactly certain what had caused all of this, nor was he even aware of the concept of ‘falling to your death’ since basically everyone he met on this planet knew how to fly, but he attempted to resonate with the human’s problem as much as he could without looking too insensitive about it; after all, he was a friend.
‘’ Pardon me if I caused you any harm. I didn’t mean to put you in danger, and I am also glad you are safe.’’
With those words, Vangreth’s head would turn to face Mac, being uncomfortable close to one another as he continued his speech.
‘’ As for ending me, I am welcoming you to try and show me what you got. They say fighter understand each-other much better after a sparring session.’’
And with that, Vangreth would grab Mac’s arms and break his headlock, then he would attempt to simply throw him away a dozen meters in a safe direction, to give them some space. If it succeeded, he would then assume a fighting stance and stare down at Mac.
‘’ This place looks abandoned at first glance, but let’s try not to cause any destruction to its building, it could be a cultural thing here on Earth… though… I suppose you could tell me about it more than I can…’’

The fact that the alien was still breathing, let alone talking, was shocking to Mac. While he talked, Mac tried to put more force into the hold, but to no avail. He wasn’t even fazed by his attempt. The stark white being turned around and looked Mac right in the face. He pulled his head back and was visibly shocked and confused.
‘’ As for ending me, I am welcoming you to try and show me what you got. They say fighter understand each-other much better after a sparring session.’’
Suddenly he was flying through the air. This wasn’t good, he thought midair. He tried to adjust as he flew but he was going too fast and his right side slammed against the ground. He bounced back up and rolled a little while before he fixed himself, skidding to a stop on all fours. He reached his left hand inside his jacket and pressed it against his right side, gritting his teeth while doing so. He had landed on his bad side and it hurt a LOT. He could tell from the way the alien was talking that he wasn’t trying to hurt him, but he was hurt on incident. His soreness was returning too. The alien could feel Mac ki waver from the pain.
He gritted his teeth harder, and punched the ground. He wasn’t give up just because he was hurting. He forced himself to stand up. He swayed for a moment before straightening himself up. He wasn’t going to try to kill the alien, but he needed a vent for his rage. He removed his left hand from his pained side and put his hands up to his chest. He clenched his fists tight. The chances of winning were slim, but if he played his cards right anything was possible.
He listened to the being speak. It was nice, not hostile despite Mac’s immediate attempt to kill it. Perhaps when this is over they could become allies, maybe even friends. “I don’t, I just got here a few months ago. But there is one thing I would like you to know… I am called Mac.”
He tucked his arms closely to his chest and began running at the bizarre being, leaning forward as he ran. When he got close enough, he tried to land an upper cut, leaning back as far as he could go to insure max force. Mac would follow up with a serious of rapid jabs before suddenly dropping to the ground and attempting a leg sweep.

The alien was shocked that it didn’t seem like the human attempted to catch himself in the air… so that was really it, he didn’t know how to fly. Vangreth was surprised by this fact, as the human was very strong above his peers; and he had seen other Earthlings fly before, so what gives? Perhaps that person chose not to learn it? Or maybe he didn’t think it was a possibility? Those questions asked by Vangreth while Mac flew away weren’t really pertinent, but he couldn’t help but wonder about this peculiar character in front of him.
The human seemed already wounded, not badly, but enough so that Vangreth felt a little bad for inviting him to a spar… he was clearly not at peak performance, and even though the Muko-jin had already seen that his technique was precise and well executed, in this state, he shouldn’t be able to compete at all… but it seemed like Vangreth misjudged him, as he got back up and began to talk back to him. His words made sense to him… well… except the fact that he didn’t specify where he meant by ‘got here’, perhaps humans were not exactly native to Earth? That was certainly possible.
‘’ Well then Mac, my name is Vangreth. It is nice to meet such a formidable example of human potential… I was starting to think they were all just… well… farmers and builders. ‘’
Saying that, Vangreth clearly didn’t meant to be mean, but it was true that, compared to other species, Humans were incredibly weak in general. He was glad that some of them were strong enough to fight like Mac, especially with that kind of training. The alien had a lot of respect for fighters, and that would have been sad not to be able to share that with new species.
When he noticed Mac got ready to fight and began to charge him, Vangreth grinned and would prepare to meet the Human’s technique with his own!
The Muko-Jin would take the uppercut like a champ, although the fact that it landed was a surprise! The flurry of jabs would not have the same effect. While Vangreth was doing much worse than someone who could sense his power would think, but that was because he was actually holding himself back, using appropriate speed and power and relying much more on technique to deviate most of the jabs; this effort to fight the human on equal ground was pretty nice, but there was nothing Vangreth could do about his durability, and the fact that the jabs that did connect wouldn’t do much damage was making Vangreth sad…
The moment the human lowered himself to sweep, Vangreth would jump and attempt to land both his feet on Mac, pushing him down on the ground. If that connected, he would then grab a hold of him with a headlock! Aside from being ironic, Vangreth wanted to know if his evasion technique was a good as his actual headlock technique. Of course, all of what he did was slowed down and held-back enough so that Mac could stand a chance at dodging, parrying and even taking the blows without causing too much of damage.

Saizomaru PL: 160,000 (Base)
It hadn’t been too long since Saizomaru had decided to spend some time on the Lookout. He had hoped to find the Kami of Earth, Chime, here but all he found was a small, stubby toad man. After the two of them had conducted their business, the android decided to hang around the place and take a look around. For what he wanted from here, he didn’t exactly need the Kami.
Down below in the Lookout proper, Saizomaru was laced amongst the books of a small library that was housed below the entrance of one of the side chambers up top. It was a moderately-sized circular room with walls lined with embedded bookshelves. Within their pages were various texts that contained information of old legends, mythologies and apparent study notes on the magical arts fundamental, basic and advanced alike. It was through these that the android scoured quickly through them, making use of his cybernetic enhancements to quickly read and flick through the pages and gather the information therein.
”Lotsa info, not much practicality,” he muttered to himself as he skimmed through some notes on magical affinity and the like, tied with labelled diagrams. His fingers flicked through one page after another in a rhythm of a second.
He had been at this for maybe an hour. With a sigh, he made his way towards the door, still carrying the open book in his palm. What he needed right now was some fresh air and some sunlight. There was only so long that he could stay cooped up inside a dusty, stuffy library.
As he made his way up the stairs, Saizomaru could hear noises coming from outside. He paused for a moment, silencing his footsteps on the staircase to get a better hear of the sounds. Then, he made his way once again to the door. He had a suspicion of what those sounds were.
The door cracked open a little. A small but bright about of light streaked into the staircase coupled with the sounds. Voices. Voices that he didn’t recognized.
Then, stepping out onto the Lookout proper from one of the side rooms of the main structure, he glanced from around the side of a support pillar and saw two people fighting each other near the center of the grounds. One of them was a strange white humanoid that was almost blending in with the white marble tiles around him. The other was a hooded figure dressed in long, dense, drab clothing. The android didn’t recognize either one of them.
He rolled his eyes as he clapped the book shut in his hand. ”Yup. That time of the month again,” he mumbled to himself as he began to slowly step in the direction of where they were fighting. ”Always a tweedle-dee and a tweedle-dum looking for a fight on the Lookout…”
His boots tapped softly on the floor as he approached the two, though stopped a fair distance away from them. ”Oi!” he called out as he began gesturing towards them with the close book in his hand. ”If you’re gonna fight, could you do it more quietly? I’m trying to read here!” He shook his head as he flipped the book back open again on the page where he left off. ”Seriously, kids these days have no respect…”

Mac could strongly agree with Vangreth’s assumption of humans, at least on this world. They were all weak, save a few rare exceptions he found with his scouter. They were weak and passive. They were quite aggravating to watch. But that wasn’t important right no he needed to focus on the fight. Tanking the upper cut was no big surprise, but it hurt his knuckles. Just keep the guy focused on his upper body. The fact that he kept evading Mac’s jabs was annoying but it kept in line with his plan. When Vangreth jumped over his sweep Mac was surprised, this person wasn’t just strong he had good combat senses; this was going to be real tough. When he saw the feet coming toward him he instinctively used his hands to push away from the alien, using the motion of the sweep, he turned it into a roll and narrowly dodged the blow. He stood up and looked at the being. It may be surprising that he could move so quickly giving the heavy backpack he carried and the two guns that were visible, a carbine on his pack and the SMG hanging at his hip. He was surprised that it hadn’t brought any attention to Mac’s guns but then again from the way he talked he didn’t sound like he was native to this planet. “Thank you for the admiration,” his words were truthful but he had a lot of frustration in his voice, “but I am not using my full potential. I am more trained in blades than I am in hand to-”
“Oi!”
He side eyed the person who interrupted him. He was already frustrated and being interrupted by a random person wasn’t making him any happier. He glared at the android, “If you don’t like it, go find somewhere else to read.” He turned back to the alien, with renewed anger, he charged again. When he was close enough to strike he instead leaned all the way back tried to slide under its legs. After he went past, he turned around and skidded to a stop before charging from the back. He would grab its floating collar and reared back to fire a heavy right hook into where his kidneys would be. If he had kidneys.

The Alien was fairly surprised that, while he was holding himself back for it to be possible, the human managed to dodge his attack with skill and a surprising speed! Truly, this person had a lot of potential if trained accordingly. It wouldn’t really throw Vangreth off his concentration though, as he wanted to push the human further and see just how much he could take before finally giving in; it shouldn’t exactly be too hard either, but the Muko-jin was already surprised by how agile he was. Perhaps there was more to this man than the two strange objects he was carrying?
‘’ Don’t worry, I am not using my full potential either; Although I am surprised to hear you are better with blades, I though you were already doing great without them. We can always clash blades if you want!’’
After his words, Vangreth would acknowledge that he heads someone talking from the main building; well, it was about time someone noticed their presence, wasn’t it? The alien turned only to see a white-haired human just looking annoyed. His voice was also pointing in that direction, as it seemed like he was simply seeing them as nuisance… very ungentlemanly.
‘’ Pardon us for the noise, we didn’t know if there was anyone here and got into a little friendly conflict.’’
Vangreth first said, not realizing that maybe it was a little more than a friendly conflict to his other fellow fighter.
‘’ Although I have to specify, I’ve not been a kid for the past 190 years, so calling me in that way does feel like disrespect, which you don’t seem to be a fan of.’’
Saying that, the Alien didn’t exactly realized that he might have sounded hostile; his voice and intention just were to inform, even though he was a bit annoyed by that for reasons he wasn’t exactly sure of.
While he was talking, his opponent decided to take advantage of his distraction to try and attack him once more! It wasn’t a bad strategy, but the error was to try and trick him with some sort of feint attack, which would only alert Vangreth and give him the time to prepare and retaliate. The Muko-jin turned to the human right as he began to charge for the second time after sliding between his legs and would ready himself for his offensive!
And then, something happen that would actually anger Vangreth; it seemed like Mac knew Vangreth’s previous weakness, and although he didn’t have that collar-thing anymore, the feel of someone trying to grab him sent shivers down his spine and, while the failed attempt to grab it was just that, a failed attempt, it angered him enough to award his opponent with a punch that wasn’t held back!
Swiftly, Vangreth would just attempt to punch Mac and made sure his punch would hurt right into his stomach. He wasn’t going for a blow that could kill, or badly injure Mac, he even made sure that it wouldn’t do as such, but this punch was one of a scared being that just realized someone knew of his past and his weaknesses… or perhaps he was just being paranoid about it?
‘’ How did you know?’’
Vangreth would ask if the blow connected and he had time to speak to Mac.

Saizomaru PL: 160,000 (Base)
It didn’t come across with any surprise that the kid was another guy with a big mouth and an inflated ego, both used to mask his weakness. Still, it rubbed Saizomaru the wrong way considering where they were. He would have to remind them of that little tidbit of information.
At least the white one had a decent sense of manners and decorum about him, albeit laced intrinsically with the musings of a wise-ass. Both of them seemed to be of the notion that they had not a care for where they were fighting or even who was opposing it.
So, Saizomaru quickly clapped the book shut before tossing it right towards Mac’s head like a shuriken, almost bolting it as fast as an arrow. He was going to feel it in the morning if it ended up decking him right in the forehead.
”You haven’t the faintest of ideas where you are, do you?” he spoke with a right smirk and a sense of smugness about his tone. ”This is the Lookout. This is the residence of your god, kid, so you best start showing a little more respect. While he’s out, I’m looking after the place.”
His pleasant disposition soon scrunched to one of sternness and reprimand. ”So you’re both gonna be doing two things: one, you’re gonna start being a little more humble while you’re here; two, you’re not gonna break anything while you’re having your little sparring fight. I’ll let you have that much.”
He brought his arms out. One hand wrapped around the balled fist of the other and, with a little push, cracked his knuckles. ”’Cause if you break anything,” he continued as he switched hands, cracking the knuckles on the other, ”then I’m gonna break the pair of you. You get me?” The glare in the android’s eyes were quite suitable of a sign that told of his seriousness.
But then he through his hands to his sides and, like the flip of a switch, that aggressive manner switched back to his casual, careless nature. ”A’ight, then!” he exclaimed with a smile on his face. He turned and made his way to the center of the structure, kneeling down to take a seat on the steps of the porch in front of the main entrance. ”Now that we’ve got the ground rules set up… You’re free to do whatever you gotta do. I’m keeping my eyes on the pair of you.”

The alien was fine with him using his blades? Great. He might stand a chance now. The person threw his book at high speeds but he was fast enough to react, but barely. He grabbed the SMG that hung at his sides and leaned back. It was two inches away from his face when he shot the book out of the air, turning it into confetti. He wasn’t surprised with the speed at which it was thrown, but he was sweating from how close he got to receiving a concussion. God? What was he talking about? There was no god. He had given and received enough pain and suffering to know that. He was opened his unseen mouth to say something smart, but closed it. With the speed he threw a book, with what seemed to be casual effort; he didn’t want to make this guy any more upset. He said simply, “I don’t know what you mean.”
What really got his blood going were the commands he put down followed by the threat to “break him”. Mac tilted his head back in rage and scowled at the white haired human. On Earth-Beta, Mac’s home world, to make a threat was to say the person on the receiving end was so cowardly that just the mention of punishment was enough to get them to do what you wanted. If you were going to do something to someone, you just did it. The command was more of a personal insult to Mac. As a Scavenger, he always did what he wanted, people made requests of him, never did they command him. He wanted badly to kill this person. He pulled the scouter out of his pocket and put it to his eye. He needed to see how hard it would be to end this person. He pressed the button. He waited. It beeped and beeped as the number rose and rose. One hundred and sixty thousand… almost sixteen times the number Mac got when he used it on himself. It passively scanned the alien, revealing its power level to be six times as much as Mac. He took it off his face silently and held it out in front of him. He stared at it. It beeped occasionally. Suddenly, he gripped it tightly in his hand, lifted it above his head, and threw it against the ground with all his strength. It shattered against the ground causing a small explosion. He was visibly enraged. He charged Vangreth only to end up on the ground clasping his stomach in pain. “HOW DID I KNOW WHAT!?” He was screaming as he lay on the ground. “How did I know to grab that freaking collar of yours for leverage? I knew because I’m not a FREAKING IDIOT!” His power level began slowly rising as his adrenaline began to pump from his rage. “You know what I went through to get this strong? From the time I was four was taught how to use a gun. I was forced to attempt an adult’s training regime until I got it done or passed out from exhaustion. I was intentionally BEAT to increase my pain tolerance.” He looked up at Vangreth, tears were streaming down his face. “Every moment of my life was meant to make me the strongest on my world,” He looked down as his hands, “and I was… I was the pinnacle of the human form; I could out do anyone in almost anything.”
He gripped his hands tightly. “Then I came to this planet.” His voice was full of disappointment. “Everyone I fight is stronger than me. Despite my life of training, everything I’ve gone through, all the suffering I caused…” He began to yell in anger again, “MY LIFE WAS MEANT FOR ONE THING AND I FAILED!” He calmed down, “I failed…” He collapsed on the ground and began to sob. OOC: Sorry for making this about me but I felt the flow and couldn't stop. PS. Saizomaru your using one too many zeros in the tag.

This situation started to become a little sense, Vangreth could tell from his stance and general aura that that new person was not to be messed with, and the fact that he couldn’t get any read on his power level re-assured him in that idea; nobody could have absolutely no signature… so he had a way to hide his presence the say way Vangreth did… He looked human thought, so it had to be something he had learned right? And that simple fact told Vangreth that this person was much stronger than what he could initially believe… putting him on edge.
Learning more about this place was a nice thing though, so this was called ‘the Lookout’, and was apparently the resident of… uh… what was that? Someone named God? And it was somehow ours or something? And then something about being humble? Vangreth though he was pretty humble in this fact, for a fact, he could have incapacitated his opponent with little to not effort but chose to fight him and see beyond power to discover technique. Altogether, the Alien had a lot of questions about all of this, but he did try to wait until Saizomaru was done talking to start asking them.
‘’ I don’t know who ‘God’ is, and I don’t know why he should be ours either… is that an Earthling thing? And being his servants, doesn’t that mean you are the servant of someone that is somehow mine? I’m kind of confused…’’
Vangreth paused for a moment to think a little further.
‘’ Also… I did specify to my opponent here that we shouldn’t break anything, this place looks important, the name seems to further indicate so. Why is it called the lookout though? We can’t see down there most of the time because of clouds….’’
These questions would very much feel like Vangreth knew NOTHING about what was going on here, and that he is oblivious to a whole lot.
And then… there was some sort of breakdown from the human’s part. And it all started with him mentioning his collar again… the one he got removed weeks earlier… the Alien couldn’t help but wonder if this person was able to see things… perhaps a bit of potential in magic? That would certainly explain how strong he was next to your regular old human… Vangreth tried keeping his calm while all of that happened.
The Human than kept going on his whole life, how he was raised in a very similar fashion as Vangreth had been… although it seemed to be a little lighter… then again, he didn’t know the details. The Alien was starting to better understand the cold attitude and constant anger that seemed to be emerging from Mac… probably the reason his ancestors were unsure about Vangreth when he stated displaying emotions… losing control like this, it didn’t seem like it would be an advantage in battle, and for a born warrior like Mac, it was probably a huge weakness.
On the note his monologue ended, Vangreth’s face would slowly shift into slight anger as he approached the Human and grabbed him, forcibly standing him back up and slapping him across the face with enough force to at least leave a good old red mark.
‘’ Look. I know from your people; your past might seem horrible. Life on Earth makes it easy for everyone and it’s not a bad thing at all, trust me…’’
Vangreth’s anger began to shift a little towards empathy.
‘’ You’ve lived a harsh life. I understand that, trust me. I’ve had to go through magical and physical testing right from the day I was born to make sure I had potential to peak. Then I had to defeat every single one of those who were born in the same path as I was, the warrior path. Every defeat meant death. We had no resources and space for anything but the very best.’’
A tear ran down Vangreth’s right eye as his face began to crack.
‘’ And I got here, and I was weaker than you are right now! Weaker than EVERYONE! All these crazy transformations! Power signature going beyond my imagination! ‘’
His grip would tighten on Mac.
‘’ But if you cower! If you surrender to this odd, and simply accept that you are weak…’’
Vangreth would then let go of his grip on Mac.
‘’ … and accept your failure without giving it another try… then you let it all go to waste. The deaths. The years of training. Everything. ‘’
After this, Vangreth would turn back to Saizomaru and nod in his direction.
'' Every strong person has to have a sobbing past. Conforts doesn't get you that far. But we fight, so that people don't have to.''

Saizomaru PL: 160,000 (Base)
Once Mac had begun firing at the book, Saizomaru took a bit more tense stance in his posture. A single hand flicked out as the bullets whizzed by him, snatching a pair from out of the sky. As he brought his hand down and glanced into his slowly-opening palm, he gazed at the copper and lead bullets. ”Nine-by-nineteen Parabellums,” he spoke aloud. His finger and thumb rolled one of them back and forth in their grip. ”Lead and copper jackets. Black tips—armor piercing rounds. One-forty-seven grains. Pretty high quality stuff you’re packing.”
When was the last time that he had wielded a gun? Flashbacks of the android’s time in the military ran through his mind like a film reel, showing stills of when he was trained in the use of small arms. How to aim. How to fire. How to clean. How to assemble and disassemble them. Even how to modify them to fit his own personal needs. A part of him revelled in the adrenaline of the trigger pull. Another part of him detested what he had to use them for.
He tossed them to the ground. Clinking noises echoed out into the sky as they bounced and tumbled upon the tiles.
But that was neither here or there. As he sat upon the steps, he pondered the questions asked by the white one. ”So you’re not of this planet. That’s good to know,” he responded. Then, he continued, ”But that’s not the point. The point that this is an important place and it’s not one you should be fighting in. Seriously, of all the places on this rock, why here?” It was an exasperating ordeal to have to explain to these two kids that it’s pretty unsavoury to be fighting in a place that belongs to a god.
Still, the android hoped he could beat some respect into the pair. ”It is called the Lookout because it does exactly what it says on the tin—” he began to explain ”—it is where god looks out over the planet. He sees all. Knows all. And he does all of this from the highest place on the planet, right here.”
But from there it didn’t seem as though the other human was in as much of a questioning mood as Vangreth. The two continued their little ‘fight’, although it soon became apparent that this wasn’t a battle of strength but more of a battle of will. It was one that Mac would lose on both fronts.
Saizomaru couldn’t help but look on not with sympathy but with pity at the pair of them. Both of them had, from what he could gather, lived similar lives to him. The young human was raised as a warrior, perhaps even as a guerrilla soldier or a mercenary, similar to the android’s own life in the military. The white one was raised as a warrior, known only to fight and to be strong for one specific purpose, and that too was how Saizomaru lived his early years.
Yet they were both disjointed from the paths that they could potentially take. Mac in particular was beginning to question himself and, possibly, begin to question his own purpose in life. Perhaps even begin to doubt it.
”Only is darkness are we revealed,” he spoke as he slowly pushed himself to his feet. Slowly he began making his way towards the two. ”Goodness is not goodness that seeks advantage. Good is good in the final hour, in the deepest pit without hope, without witness, without reward. Virtue is only virtue in extremis. That is what I believe, and this is the reason above all, I love it. My life, my purpose in the world, my Earth.” H hummed a half-humoured hum as he brushed a part of his hair from his face. ”That was what my father once told me. He always did have the best words.”
Slowly he kneeled down and began to scoop up what was left of the book that Mac had destroyed with his gunfire. The android hoped that there was more than one copy of this book, or at least the Kami wouldn’t notice it missing. ”You say that your life was meant for one thing,” he said as he stood up straight, eyes locked onto the boy, ”but who decided what your life was meant for? Did you decide? Or was it someone else?”
He turned and began to walk away with the shredded remains of the book in hand. ”Is it a purpose that you want to live for? Is it a purpose that you would want to die for? Contemplate those things. Maybe you will find another path.”
He found himself at the edge of the Lookout. Blue flames began to grow and crackle in his palms, engulfing the rest of the book until it was no more than a fine, blue-white mound of ash. Then, he flung his hands outwards, scattering it into the winds like glitterdust. ”If I get charged for this, I’m footing you the bill, by the way.”

*SMACK*
The pain woke Mac from his emotional state. He listened to Vangreth tell how his life was like his own to a surprising extent. On his planet no one was like him. All Scavengers had to go through tougher training than most but nothing like what he had to endure. To think that all children on a whole planet had to go through the pain he went though… It made his blood boil. And to think that after all that training the alien was weaker than Mac in the beginning, even with the life force stuff, was shocking to him.
But what the alien said next really rung with him. He had killed and tormented so many people, he only thought about what he was doing for his community, never about what those who suffered or what he had suffered had given to him. It was because of all the death and pain that both he and others had to endure that made him this strong. If he was gave up then all that would go to waste. Mac would go to waste.
But then Saizomaru spoke
He spoke of choosing one’s own purpose. For people to decide their own fate. Mac had always known what he was meant for, but did he know what he wanted to do? Was there anything he was good at beside what he had done his whole life? Did he have a better purpose in this world? If he chose a different path what of all those who suffered would he be giving up what they had given just so he can be happy?
Mac, in his own eyes, had been given two conflicting views.
To stay the path of fighting so what others had done doesn’t go to waste.
Or to choose his own destiny, and live free from the wants of others.
He simply stared at the ground after they both finished. He was currently overwhelmed emotionally and mentally, that was clear from the look in his eyes. He needed to take the subject off of him and think about something else for a while.
After a moment of silence, he wiped the tears from his eyes and spoke “My apologies for the outburst that had never happened to me before, but I need to move on from this.” He face returned to its cold tired appearance and continued “You spoke like you know firearms,” He said looking at the android. “I need to know if you have anyone who can give me some supplies. I am running low on ammunition and have no way to get any. Specifically, I am in need of more 9 millimeter AP rounds. I only have a couple mags worth left.”
Mac moved to an open spot and took his back pack off and laid it on the ground. It was large and seemed like it would be heavy for a normal person. After unzipping the main pack he began to take out Ammo boxes with the type of ammo inside carved in the side. One was marked as Saizomaru had said; the others were marked .357 sig and the other .303 bit. As he was doing so he spoke to Vangreth, “You say you have trained as I have but why is it that I like the energy you call ‘Ki’?” He was honestly curious why if they both underwent the same training, why he had achieved the power of, as he understood it, life force manipulation.
